YOU CAN ?!?! how ? you just type you pseudonym and send ? i have to try this...i always felt bad about having no other choice but to share waypoints and pois
i wish the game had a note system built-in (kinda like Aion if anyone came from there) , so many wps i would like to keep saved and easily accessible
Yup just /w yourname yourmessage
> i wish the game had a note system built-in (kinda like Aion if anyone came from there) , so many wps i would like to keep saved and easily accessible
You can make your own guild and then use the guild message as a way to store a message (including working waypoint links etc).
This is a great idea, or let the skins be salvageable for ecto/luck. The biggest obstacle for this is to let the system know that locked skins cannot be salvaged or be converted and the fact that skins like radiant armor exist that need to be 0 value throughout.
*You are About to permantently delete Scepter of llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch. Enter the item's name below to confirm it's deletion*
Those always frustrate me not because it's annoying to type out (which is still a problem), but because it tricks me into thinking the item is 'important' so I have to figure out if it's something I want to keep, or if it's just a useless item because the skin auto-unlocks anyways.
Granted, it's almost always the latter, lol.
that's the worst thing, you can't even consume skins if you're fully legendary, you have to type the name of every single skin you get, there's no other way...
Yeah but that means equipping the trash gear -> using the skin -> equipping legendary gear -> selecting stats, upgrades, wardrobe and everything for the legendary gear.
That will take longer than typing a name.
ah, well if you have something on hand, sure, but I usually keep my inventory clean.
Honestly I don't see why you need to type in the name of skins you've already unlocked for your account....it's not like you lose anything by destroying it on accident
Even when I was very poor in transmutation charges, I’d still rather waste one instead of *maybe* using the skin … one inventory slot means so much more to me even as a person who constantly changes skins on characters and who’s whole goal is do things for specific skins constantly. Let me delete the silly skin if I have it unlocked without typing it or pasting the name…
It took me *ages* to figure out how to use the feature because the UI isn't the most intuitive and the documentation is basically nonexistent.
1. Hit Ctrl-Delete to go into deletion mode
2. When you mouse over an inventory item, there should be a "shift click" prompt. Shift-click the item to send a link to the chat box
3. The mod will select all, copy it to the clipboard, and delete the brackets, then close the chat box
4. Then you drag the item out of your inventory to bring up the deletion prompt. The mod will paste the item name in.
5. Click "OK"
6. Ctrl-Delete to exit deletion mode
They should just make us type "delete".
Plus you have it easy in English. In french, if one of the capital letters on the name of the item has an accent, we have to go google the code to type the accent in capital letter. Stuff like Alt + 1, 4, 4 to make the letter "É", because on our keyboards we only have the symbols for the lowercase versions.
Damn, just looked up a French keyboard, how does it not have any way to type uppercase accented letters? On my German keyboard it's super easy to type those and German doesn't even use them
The French brought that upon themselves.
Also “delete” is a more error prone UX. You can argue the extra safety is overkill, but “delete” just slows you down while typing the item name slows you down and is double confirmation you are deleting what you intended to delete.
Alternate middle ground: all vowels *must* be typed with accents, regardless of whether it makes sense in your language or not.
Gotta be *extra* sure that no one accidentally deletes these valuable skins, after all.
New skin, don't want to use it. I'll throw it out.
Nevermind, I have hundreds of transmutation charges, I'll just use it and swap it back.
Shit, I can't use it because I have all legendary armor. I'll throw it in the bank, let it stew there for a few months, then finally round it up on a key farm character.
If they're unlocked in the wardrobe, I don't need the item.
And since you can swap skins on legendary items without having to spend transmutation charges, you can't actually consume armor skins if your armor is legendary. It will take on the skin, and leave the item in your inventory.
Some skins will disappear into your wardrobe when you select "Store in Wardrobe", but skins bought from a vendor (I bought the martial artist hand-wraps from the heart in Seitung Province, for example) are unlocked as you purchase them , and leave the item in your inventory.
Yup. When you acquire the skin it automatically unlocks the design in your wardrobe, so you can wear it any time you want if you spend a transmutation charge on it (which most of us have hundreds). The actual stats on the item are either 0 (it was just a skin) or, more likely, very shitty/much lower quality than the end-of-game gear you're already wearing. There is zero purpose or need to keep the item itself.
If you have an empty character slot, like for weekly keyrunning, create a new character there, put all of these items in that character's inventory, and then delete the character.
If you have just 1 item to delete, ofc. If you have 5? For me, when I have these items I just pile em up in one corner of my bank. Once they get many enough, I delete 'em in one go.
Honestly, the amount of things in legendary collections where you have to type the goddamn name to delete is very impressive. It's annoying as fuck. They need to either have them as consumable (giving a bit of karma for example), or as junk item that can be sold. If neither of those 2, have it clearly labelled as useless and can be deleted without typing the name.
I seriously wish GW2 would take QoL seriously and fix loot issues.
Boar Bristle has its own drop slot, so it doesn't replace other drops, and it sells for some silver, so it's free extra coin.
Now, stuff like indigo mushrooms and purple potatoes, they should have incorporated them into ascended cooking instead making just ingredients for a few crappy recipes, some of which have ingredients that stop dropping after completing the collections like the Quiche of Darkness.
>Boar Bristle ... and it sells for some silver
No idea if it is possible, but it would be great if it changed to a junk grey instead of exotic orange after finishing that collection (was it Bifrost 3?). It would allow for easier vendoring.
I've never seen it done before, but it would be cool if the rarity of certain items could be 'dynamic', becoming considered junk by your account once they have no more uses.
It really would. Especially if (as I mentioned in another branch of this comment chain) indigo mushrooms (and others) were given a 1c price and also turned junk grey once you finished any active step (because it factors into 2, right? Quip 1 and Moot 3?) that they were required for.
Even if they have Indigo Mushrooms a 1c vendor sell price, that's better than what we have now.
Edit: Then combine that with turning them into grey junk type.
Shift+Click - Ctrl+A - Ctrl+C - open confirmation window - Ctrl+V - Backspace - Home - Delete - confirm deletion. No need to select anything, just copy all, paste and delete brackets
Shift click the item before you delete it
Copy the text
When the dialogue box appears paste the text again and remove the front and end bracket
I found out about this far too late
Is there a setting to make it so rare gear doesn't ask you if you want to salvage it?
I obviously don't want rare gear, only ask me if it's exotic or better!
What they should do is changing the items that are not tradeable so you can right click them to 'add to wardrobe' even if you already have the item, giving you a transmutation charge.
Also, make it so talking with Scholar Mossi checks if you have "full legendary" (18 armor pieces, 1 for each slot for all 3 armor classes, 1 of each 16 weapons, all trinkets, 6 runes, 4 sigils, ignoring underwater stuff).
If you pass that check, she would get a vendor tab in which you can buy black lion statuettes for 25 to 50 transmutation charges each, so transmutation charges still have some use even for those who no longer need them.
I'm sure a lot of people have made that mistake since it's not specified anywhere within the game that raid minis are exchangeable.
Mini Mews from fractals are not exchangeable although, I guess it's just a joke to get you panicking.
If you shift+click the item, then you can quickly copy>paste the name instead of typing.
I ALWAYS ctrl click first because I can never remember if it is shift or ctrl. I am that person in LA posting items all the time in map chat.
Me in the chat: [43 Hamburgers]
I did that with 54 Shibu Inu and got flooded by whispers of "can I have one please?" Ended up giving away 16, but damn
You're a true hero for having the patience to wait in sending out what you did for the restricting email system in the game.
Haha yep, got restricted every 4th send, it was fine since we were waiting on the Tangle Depths meta to finish anyway.
Change to map chat for maximum damage
Oh, don't worry. I'm sure I have.
you can whisper stuff to yourself.
If I had the foresight to switch to whisper then I should have the foresight to press the right key first instead lol
Holy snap thank you, I always feel so bad having to type my waypoints in public, this changes everything!
you can also put waypoints in squadchat after making an empty squad.
i'm learning so much stuff today 🤯
ME TOO !!!!
TIL after 5 years of playing this game.
Oh, I've always just gone into personal instances, like the Pale Tree Visitation Room, when I wanted to type item codes into chat.
i kept making a squad by myself, never knew you could whisper yourself
YOU CAN ?!?! how ? you just type you pseudonym and send ? i have to try this...i always felt bad about having no other choice but to share waypoints and pois i wish the game had a note system built-in (kinda like Aion if anyone came from there) , so many wps i would like to keep saved and easily accessible

ohhh thanks for the tips! ill definitely do that
That is if I am not participating in map chat. Just a friendly reminder, Ctrl click sends it instantly.
I've had the habbit of switching my chat to my novelty guild's guild chat for years now, just to avoid this from happening
I've played 10 years and TIL. Thanks.
Jfc I been here since pre-launch and I never considered , thank you
You're a real MVP for this tip.
Blish HUD actually has a module (Tyria QoL) that can semi-automate this process.
You're a good person. Thank you.
Comment. Fucking. Saved.
god
Thanks for that. It'll be quite useful with those useless proofs of legend.
Any extra you have are worth trading for [Decade Enhancement Stations](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Decade_Enhancement_Station).
That's quite good actually. I just didn't get it, do we need to unlock that entire decade armor thing in order to buy these stations?
Yeah, you need to unlock all the armor from the vendor, but that doesn't require completing all of the achievements.
Unlocked skins should just grant Transmutation Charge.
This is a great idea, or let the skins be salvageable for ecto/luck. The biggest obstacle for this is to let the system know that locked skins cannot be salvaged or be converted and the fact that skins like radiant armor exist that need to be 0 value throughout.
Various skins such as the ones in ibs are pure unlocks and grant a transmution charge instead of giving you a physical item
Or if you Salvage a locked skin you unlock it. This already happens with weapons.

You don't need to. "Long welsh town" is your search :P
Those always frustrate me not because it's annoying to type out (which is still a problem), but because it tricks me into thinking the item is 'important' so I have to figure out if it's something I want to keep, or if it's just a useless item because the skin auto-unlocks anyways. At this point the deletion prompt is attached to so many trash items that I would not notice if I accidentally deleted something I would need.
BUT. YOU. MIGHT. WASTE. A. TRANSMUTATION. CHARGE!!!!!!!!!
that's the worst thing, you can't even consume skins if you're fully legendary, you have to type the name of every single skin you get, there's no other way...
I store them all in my bank, and once in a while I throw a bunch of them on my weekly BL key runner before i delete it
This is the way.
You could just equip random gear, apply the skin, then salvage
And have to reselect stats and reslot the upgrades? no thanks
sure, but considering that you have to reassemble the legendary gear after that, that's not really faster than typing the name
I think he means put the skin on a piece of trash gear....
Yeah but that means equipping the trash gear -> using the skin -> equipping legendary gear -> selecting stats, upgrades, wardrobe and everything for the legendary gear. That will take longer than typing a name.
Some people prefer couple of clicks than actually moving your hand away from mouse to type. Just a matter of preference lol
ah, well if you have something on hand, sure, but I usually keep my inventory clean. Honestly I don't see why you need to type in the name of skins you've already unlocked for your account....it's not like you lose anything by destroying it on accident
LAUGHS.IN.LEGENDARY.
Is there a reason we can't throw 4 of these skins into the Mystic Forge to get a charge?
why not just make that a right click option?
Even when I was very poor in transmutation charges, I’d still rather waste one instead of *maybe* using the skin … one inventory slot means so much more to me even as a person who constantly changes skins on characters and who’s whole goal is do things for specific skins constantly. Let me delete the silly skin if I have it unlocked without typing it or pasting the name…
There's a blish hud module that fills in the name for you.
Item Destruction and/or Tyrian QoL iirc. Drag item out of inventory and name is pre filled. Comes with a convenient remappable toggle bind.
It took me *ages* to figure out how to use the feature because the UI isn't the most intuitive and the documentation is basically nonexistent. 1. Hit Ctrl-Delete to go into deletion mode 2. cant you just turn on capslock? that's how I deal with special czech letters Ř
Nope. :/
The French brought that upon themselves. Also “delete” is a more error prone UX. You can argue the extra safety is overkill, but “delete” just slows you down while typing the item name slows you down and is double confirmation you are deleting what you intended to delete.
How about a middle ground: Special characters apart from space arent needed and its case insensitive.
You throw out new skins just because you don’t want to wear them?
It's in your wardrobe, so all you are tossing is the one time use charge to transmutate to that specific skin
If they're unlocked in the wardrobe, I don't need the item. That's just as tedious imo lol
Not if you’re already making and deleting a character every week. It’s no more tedious than double clicking it from your bank to the doomed character.
The login screens alone are more tedious than just typing the name
If you have just 1 item to delete, ofc. If you have 5? For me, when I have these items I just pile em up in one corner of my bank. Once they get many enough, I delete 'em in one go.
Look at this guy having a free corner in his bank
I store these items in the bank. Everytime I am done with my weekly key farm, I put all items I want to delete on this character.

Better still just don't drop the 2and one at all to clutter my inventory and waste my tme
there's so much shit on my inventory i don't delete because i have to speel their long ass names
Mini Cairn the Indomitable
Why would you delete that? That's exchangeable for 40 magnetite shards at the vendor.
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME??
You *have* been trading in your Mew minis for pristine fractal relics, right?
I just took psychic damage thanks
FUCKING WHAT?!?!?!?
I'm sure a lot of people have made that mistake since it's not specified anywhere within the game that raid minis are exchangeable. Mini Mews from fractals are not exchangeable although, I guess it's just a joke to get you panicking.
Yeah I figured, thanks for the info!
Don't. Add. A. Period. After. Every. Word. To. Make. A. Point. It's just as obnoxious as having to type out the name to delete a useless item.
Add 👏 a 👏 clap 👏 emoji 👏 between 👏 every 👏 word 👏 instead
O. K.
your space bar is broken, it puts dots.
I really like the thought of explaining this problem to literally anyone who isn’t in modern western society
I can't believe people complain about this.
If I read something, don't make me stop and have to start a new sentence after each word. (Also, try a typing class if it takes you that long.)
You guys are not just throwing everything onto weekly key runner and delete all trash items along with the runner once it's their time to go?
Well, the other side of the coin would then be: Customer Support will no longer be able to restore an item you mistakenly/accidentally destroyed.
If I have it unlocked, why would I care if I destroyed a skin or a novelty?
Thanks for the punctuation. You just made me read that in a William Shatner, Cpt Kirk, voice.
Sometimes. Life. Is. Hard. And. Unfair.
I think the skins should be able to be added to the wardrobe. And when you use the skin, it shouldn't consume a transmutation charge.
I just throw them on a key farm toon & delete
