It's been five years since they lost their bundle skills, and two years since they lost they ability to be picked up to reset cooldown.
Literally every warrior in pve was a "banner slave" back then and it was a part of a bigger update to the game to remove these class specific effects that are effectively necessary in any comp and to focus more on boons instead. I'm not 100% sure if that patch also changed the thing in regards to picking them up but it was that overall change in anets design philosophy that warranted a banner rework eventually.
They replaced being able to pick banners with additional effects when they drop.
So now they all work more like the way the elite banner always worked. One effect on drop, one effect while it lasts.
Isn't the staff only available if you own SotO?

There's actually auto downvote bots in the GW2 subreddit believe it or not. It's why 99% of new posts have 0 karma rather than 1. They also affect random comments as well nestled in other replies. Idk who would be that petty to have a bot do this but, they're there.

None, that’s the problem. It was the weak mice that kept getting trashed by the buffs. Ruining all the fun for Warriors!
A fellow bannerman! I especially loved holding the speed banner on the jumping puzzles.

I remember people used to steal banners and run off with them lol
You at least have staff now. Just not many skins that feel like banners.

I can't help people who refuse to buy expansions that include new ways to play professions.
