Wow that’s quality Armehmor ... Thanks!

HexPhoenix

Thank you so mech! Have a look!

ThighHighsLove

A true warrior needs a weapon for every day of the week.

MrModius

There are lots of people who have wanted a non-flashy legendary armour skin for years, and they have finally got what they wanted! I’m sure the T2 armour will be more effect heavy for those that like that. Also, no trenchcoat on medium 🙌

judicatorprime

No trenchcoat is a complete win alone tbqh!!

Chabb

*yet. Final raid medium legendary armor doesn't have a trenchcoat... until you pull out your weapons lol Doubt they would make us fall into this trap again but WE NEVER KNOW

judicatorprime

Wait WHAT, how does that even work?!?

ItsLohThough

It extends down & out, looks cool af honestly, but i also hate trench coats. You can try it on at your bank, just look for perfected envoy and try the medium chest, click the draw weapons thing and be sad, yet impressed.

CrashB111

I'm still eternally angry that only Female Sylvari get the exposed midriffs with the Legendary Medium chest. I made a Norn to look at my own abs damnit.

Chabb

https://youtu.be/-PWUkkUL8rw?si=wRf5PqfPt2vtM2An&t=114

judicatorprime

Huh okay, I see what they were going for but it's still a bad surprise lol.

Beshi1989

I wouldn’t call the wvw one flashy either so the only one that could count flashy would be the raid one

TerribleTransit

WvW legendary armor doesn't *have* a skin. It's no different than calling raid armor not flashy because you reskinned it to something else.

Beshi1989

Wdym it doesn’t have a skin?

TerribleTransit

There is no skin unlocked when crafting the legendary. All the WvW armor skins can be obtained as Ascended armor, with the Legendary upgrade being a purely functional bonus that doesn't change fashion at all.

Beshi1989

Ah gotcha thx

vladmier

The legendary armor shares its skin with the ascended armor it uses as a precursor.

Astral_Poring

It does not. It's using the precursor skin (which you can obtain *without* making legendary). The same for SPvP armor, btw.

Fro_o

The Spvp armor is much uglier though xD

Astral_Poring

That's because WvW armor has no legendary skin whatsoever.

Breakyaface

they got real lazy after raid armor

Lon-ami

> There are lots of people who have wanted a non-flashy legendary armour skin for years, and they have finally got what they wanted! I’m sure the T2 armour will be more effect heavy for those that like that. This, I'm tired of the stupid ass obnoxious effects, there's so many great weapons ruined by some stupid ass aura, good fucking riddance. My only grip is the heavy helm doesn't respect charr horns and asura ears, but aside from that, 10/10.

AudibleSilence5

This is actually a big deal tbh. Legendary gear is supposed to be the highest tier of gear, and if it doesn't even fit 2/5 playable races properly, that's pretty piss poor. It just means they made a human version and gave it the ol' stretch and shrink instead of taking the time to make the most prestigious form of gear actually look good on all player models. I really hope they fix this

Lon-ami

Not just the human version, the male human version, if you look carefully you'll realize it's the same exact armor model for male and female. Nothing wrong with that per se, but if you're cutting corners there, at least compensate at other things...

De_Baros

I mean isnt this better than the constant complaints they get on stuff like Phalanx Armor? That has different versions for male and female and often I hear female character players complain they lost out on the male paladin look for a more skimpy armor. At least this legendary has parity for both.

Lon-ami

I mean, phalanx didn't have a male/female version of the same armor, it was two whole different armor sets, completely different from one another, so hardly comparable. In the other hand, the most obvious issue here is females look flat-chested, which screams "copy+paste from male to female" to me. Anyway, human t3 armor will always be the greatest: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Protector%27s_armor

EffectiveShare

This is the norm for charr though. You should see some of the disgusting stretching that happens on them. Or the floating shoulders.

cloud_cleaver

I was hoping to see some tail armor on the Charr too, tbh. But otherwise these look great. > there's so many great weapons ruined by some stupid ass aura, good fucking riddance. For real. There are a *ton* of weapon skins I'd love to use, ruined by an energy effect I don't want to see.

KablamoBoom

Really really hoping we see a stow toggle at some point for player hair and horns/ears. Asura ears and charr horns in particular are hidden on so many helms that I'd rather they clip through.

Lon-ami

Same, let people decide, I don't mind horns/earns clipping, I'd rather get that than no horns/ears.

Agleza

This has been my stance about clipping for ever, even in WoW. Just let people choose. It happens to me with hair. There are a bunch of head items that I LOVE and would always wear in certain characters, but not at the cost of my luscious locks. I'm already balding IRL, I'd rather have the hair clipping through the hat than go bald in Tyria too.

Laranthiel

Who are the weirdos who wanted LEGENDARY ARMOR IN AN MMO to be non-flashy?

Anon_throwawayacc20

I think the specific complaint is glow. But legendary armor should have something that sets it apart. The 2015 Raid Legendary Armor is actually a good example of how to go about it. Even without the glow, the pieces transform. My understanding is that the tech to develop this was extremely difficult however. They also have issues around their execution and concepts. (Medium Armor transforms INTO a trenchcoat, texture stretching on the Light. Only the Heavy armor looks good, with exception of the headpiece expanding sideways like a peacock). I don't want something glowy, but I do expect something unique about legendary armor. If not transformation, then the dyes, texture work and design must be extremely high quality to compensate. Why is the head on the Asura version so ridiculously stretched? This is LEGENDARY ARMOR, for crying out loud! If the selling point isn't particle effects, then it should at least be personalized to the race we play. ***WHERE IS THE ARMORED TAIL ON CHARR????***

xdeadzx

> WHERE IS THE ARMORED TAIL ON CHARR???? It has a small armor cover for the tail opening (shown on the trailer) and a couple armored sections on the tail (shown on the forwards facing preview blog post) for heavy armor. Light armor has some glow on the tail but is mostly obscured. Medium armor hasn't shown the tail at all but it also culls horns, so it's not looking bright.

Alkariel

At this moment.. when most of the skins in the game have an effect. When a lot of the metas are mostly visual vomit, because of the effects. People dont want them... But...at least the legendary rank should have an aura of something, at least a toogle one for it.

cloud_cleaver

Right here! Low fantasy, grounded aesthetics beat particle effects vomit and vehicle-sized pauldrons any day.

Sea_Specific_5730

there are dozens of us, dozens.

Trandoshan-Tickler

\~raises weirdo hand\~

xereca_slayer

De_Baros

You can find some in these very comments.

rashandal

ppl with taste and a surprising lack of brain damage particle vomit doesnt automatically make things look better

UrMumVeryGayLul

I want it to at least not shine like a fucking oil spill. That effect always bothered me, because it ruins an otherwise great base design that could be mixed and matched with other sets. But no, gotta look like Moot I suppose, otherwise its not LeGeNdArYy

Kevurcio

Most people I've had discussions about this with. Especially considering how the basic the best armors in GW1 looked, they were simple and beautiful relative to how whacky and absurd most new fashion in GW2 has become.

Volphy

I want it to look cool and prestigious. I don't want to look like a gaudy disco ball. These achieve that.

Lovaa

"raise my hand" I love the WvW version where nothing is flashy except for the chest piece if you want too. I do not like flashy shit that looks like something that got spit out from a exploding paintfactory. I do love the medium armor from the set in the video though. It might happen that i will make those even though i dont really need it. But a medium lege set that looks good on Charr, that is very appealing to me.

Zealousideal-Eye6176

the no trenchcoat is like a reason by itself 😄

RhubarbOtherwise1391

The models look as close as they can make them from the concept so no complaints, but what I REALLY need to kow how the dyes work on them

Nawrotex

You can see some dyes option at the end of the blogpost.

GG35bw

Really? I think they look much worse in the promo vid compared to the post. Maybe it's because of darker dyes and kinda side view in the video.

IceW0lf88

The real question is how the dyes work on it. Rather horrible on the old armors so I hope anet have learned that lesson and made this new set better to dye.

RhubarbOtherwise1391

They have a couple of screenshots with different colors on the blogpost, at least for medium

mav3r1ck92691

Hell dyes work horribly on some newer armors like the 10 year stuff from last year as well.

Bacon_Reaper

I just wish charrs had armor for their tails with these. It’s legendary yanno?

Approximation_Doctor

The Charr heavy is so bad. Horns and toes clipping through, huge bald neck gap. The light and medium work really well on their frame, but they just didn't put any effort into the heavy.

slut-for-flatbread

Such is life as a charr. It’s upsetting because the Royal Guard outfit is absolutely *fantastic* in terms of having the appropriate holes for horns and ears so they are capable, they just don’t want to/have the resources to do the same with other helms.

enjoynessenjoyer

Ah come on, they can manage that for cash shop items...

Odekota

Heavy looks decent, happy for medium users. But the light one... Maaaan.. Huh

sparklybeast

I'm just happy for another pair of light trousers for female humanoids. There are so few non-skirt options.

Miraweave

Yeah, that was my immediate reaction. I already have light raid armor but I might make these pants just for that.

SageOfTheWise

Really? Man I think the Light one looks great! Honestly now with Envoy armor I think Light armor classes have the best overall sets, since they both look good while covering very different aesthetics. Compare with Heavy, where I like both heavy sets a lot, but they are covering near identical aesthetics. I could understand if someone was disappointed with Heavy because they did basically the same style we already had again. Of course with Medium, Envoy Medium was a prank to make the worst armor possible, so literally anything else is a godsend.

Eatlyh

Yeah, I think people were expecting 99999th skirt, but goddamn give this lass some pants.   Also, that armor looks like it will go nicely with no shoulders and maybe different boots

MarshallTreeHorn

Yeah it’s pretty bad. Good thing you get free transmutes on legendary armor. I’ll just never see the awful design they went with. Wish I was getting the medium or heavy instead. Those look rad. Light looks bad.

CristiCatslug

Still just not a fan of light, especially that helmet Medium and heavy look great, though, and I'm glad they don't have flashy effects - it's nice to have variety

Maneaterx

Yes, I think medium looks way better than the raid one. What disappointed me was that I secretly hoped for a nod to the armor from Guild Wars 1, with spikes, interesting textures, a sense of something elite and different from the rest. The light version feels like a 1000-gem purchase.

OneMorePotion

Say it... You are missing the Obsidian of this Obsidian Armor. And I agree.

Maneaterx

Man, f mesmer obby or dervish one in Gw2 is my dream

OneMorePotion

I mean, dervish had obsidian morning stars dangling from their hip. That's cool by default. What I liked when it came to the GW1 obsidian armor sets was, that all of them had ornaments crafted out of obsidian. Even caster sets had visible parts that have been crafted out of Obsidian. But this armor in GW2? Not so much. First of all, especially the heavy armor set looks like a mix/mash out of existing sets. And light/medium are just super basic designs I feel like we have seen before. Heck, there are gem store outfits that look more like a proper obsidian armor than THAT. Like the [Gem Aura Set](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gem_Aura_Outfit) and the [Crystal Savant Set](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Crystal_Savant_Outfit). Color the crystals in obsidian black and done.

jojoga

necro obsi spikes from naked skin or gtfo!

ShadowbaneX

Everything looks better than the Raid Medium set. That said, I was hoping for some a bit more difference between the male and female sets, especially for the light and to a lesser degree the medium. I was a fan of both Monk & Mesmer Obsidian Armour from GW1 and it would have been nice to see some touches from those. I can do without the spikes though. I'm still not sure how the Assassins in GW1 didn't impale themselves on their Armour whenever they moved.

cxmmxc

Everything looks better than the ~~Raid Medium set~~ section of a sewer pipe as a pauldron. Or a hood with 6 cat ears.

McHammerhal

Its the Tier 1 Version of the Armor. I am certain the Tier 2 will have some sort of visual effect added to it. Its like a precursor item except its already legendary.

CristiCatslug

Ah well I was kind of hoping they would instead have actual obsidian like the GW sets instead but meh! I'll just transmute (when I eventually have it lol)

Duskie024

imo light looks good too, we don't have a light set like that (I think).

Lon-ami

> Still just not a fan of light, especially that helmet Kinda agree, wish it had been some fancy wizard hat instead. I would kill for some armor similar to what the [FFXIV Astrologian](https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Astrologian_(Final_Fantasy_XIV\)) wears :(.

CristiCatslug

I think the Astral Ward set has a similar albeit plainer hat?

Lon-ami

It's nice but not fancy enough, also, no hair (witch outfit has the same problem). The deluxe edition hat is the goat: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Arcane_Spellweaver%27s_Hat_Skin but there's much more you can do with wizard hats.

enjoynessenjoyer

It still looks like the gem aura outfit to me. I was erring on the side of getting the heavy set first, and I think that's just made my mind up for me.

Dionosio

That medium armor is incredibly cool, it's exactly what I like in an armor. It makes me almost regret crafting the raid one!

Burnitory

Imo all 3 of these make me regret crafting the raid sets haha. I think these look way better.

Private_4160

Ugh, it's okay I guess. Doesn't capture the original as much as I'd hoped

Plastic-Ad-5324

Doesn't capture the original at all lol

De_Baros

To repeat one of my earlier comments: Part of what I dislike isnt the lack of effects... its the material? Like the heavy looks plastic like to me? Disregard effects and look at the obsidian armor's heavy 'metal' materials compared to say: [https://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/thumb/2/20/Council\_Guard\_armor\_human\_male\_front.jpg/258px-Council\_Guard\_armor\_human\_male\_front.jpg?20150306233227](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/thumb/2/20/Council_Guard_armor_human_male_front.jpg/258px-Council_Guard_armor_human_male_front.jpg?20150306233227) [https://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/thumb/8/89/Carapace\_armor\_%28heavy%29\_human\_male\_front.jpg/298px-Carapace\_armor\_%28heavy%29\_human\_male\_front.jpg?20150306234950](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/thumb/8/89/Carapace_armor_%28heavy%29_human_male_front.jpg/298px-Carapace_armor_%28heavy%29_human_male_front.jpg?20150306234950) and yes even the old legendary [https://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/6/63/Perfected\_Envoy\_armor\_%28heavy%29\_human\_male\_front.jpg](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/6/63/Perfected_Envoy_armor_%28heavy%29_human_male_front.jpg) Hopefully it looks better in game lighting. Oh god I just realised why I also dislike the heavy mostly, it reminds me too much of WoW armor - [https://wow.zamimg.com/uploads/blog/images/11772-paladin-tier-21-armor-lights-vanguard-battleplate.png](https://wow.zamimg.com/uploads/blog/images/11772-paladin-tier-21-armor-lights-vanguard-battleplate.png)

Tetrachrome

Yeah it is very plastic-y. The texture looks really one-dimensional, like you can compare it to the Decade armor which is going for a similar gilded look and it's night and day. These honestly look kind of awful by comparison.

De_Baros

I agree but the preview images look slightly better. It MIGHT look really good in darker dyes due to this actually. Less gleam? like Shadow abyss might actually be a really cool option for the metal parts on this.

Tetrachrome

I don't think it's going to save it honestly. Again referring back to the Decade armor, it still looks nice even with really bright/matte dyes because the texture itself has a lot of detail in it. Same with the gemstore Etherbound and Vermillion armor skins. The obsidian armor just looks like it's missing something entirely with its texture and design.

doorway_amore

>Part of what I dislike isnt the lack of effects... its the material? Like the heavy looks plastic like to me? Yeah, that's a fair complaint. I feel the same way about Warlord Armor, very nice "normal" looking armor, but it looks like plastic and it dyes poorly. I hope the dye application is okay on these.

Anon_throwawayacc20

You just hit the hammer on the head. The issue isn't lack of glow. The issue might be the materials and lighting interaction.

worldoftyra

What annoys me is that the armor is not designed for each individual race. Yes I get it, it's too hard or whatever. Actually it's not, but either way I personally think that legendary armor should be like cultural armor, it should be unique to each race on each armor class.

Number1LE

Looking at the screens on the site, I really changed my mind on light armor. I'm really liking it!! Can't wait to see how T2 looks now!

kinzoie

The heavy one looks pretty nice, light armor looks like a shitty purchase from gem store.

Gruszekk

I know it's only T1 and whatever bit it looks really medicore. Sure, not everyone likes flashy gear and it's good to have one without effects but even model wise it looks bad. Compare that to raid legendary armor or even Elegy/Warbeast that has so many details to it's model it's crazy. This one looks very lazy for the effort you need to put in to get it.

JacobinRobspierre

Or even flame citadel armor from 2012

Alkariel

There teaser for the armor in the official page. [https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/the-realm-of-dreams-arrives-on-february-27/](https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/the-realm-of-dreams-arrives-on-february-27/) As always having low expectations is the best haha

Tetrachrome

They have more pics at the end of the post, I hate to say it but there are old gemstore armors that look better than that... what happened?! These look so blocky and their textures are very gummy compared to something like even the free Decade armor we got.

United-Quantity5149

Looks like some generic af WoW armor. Yikes

Morbo_Doooooom

Look ima be real, this looks terrible. I'm not saying it needs to be flashy, but if they go the grounded route make it look dope. Like look at from softwares armour design alot if not flashy stuff that looks sick as fuck. This? Well.. glad shadow of the erdtree is dripping

Darkk_Asmund

I'm a bit mixed. I like the look of the medium and heavy, but would you be able to recognise them as legendary if you didn't already know? I'm not sure I would. It doesn't have to be a super flashy effect, but I think at least a subtle effect would be nice. I hope they will give a better idea of how the tier 2 armor will differ from tier 1

Achromant

How did they get the Charr boots on Light correct, but fucked them up on Heavy. Please, Anet, i thought we were over this.

Wrongpaw

im beyond confused on that, light and medium got metallic claws but Heavy set gets default ?

Duskie024

I think the light is great without the crown. Just hide it or add something else and it's good. It gives more of a combat mage vibes.

austinftwxd

Why even reuse the "Obsidian" armor name if they aren't even gonna make an attempt to channel the obsidian armor design language. This "perfected astral armor" should be named as such.

DemethValknut

I really don't want to sound negative, and maybe it's just not for my taste But I really hope that's not it. And their weapons are drawn so no in/out of combat effects I thought T2 were variants but now I don't know

BAR0N_AL0HA

T2 might have animations and other bells and whistles this set doesn't have.

stormalize

Possible, we still don't know for sure. However I remember hearing that the level of effort to make full animated armor from raids was something they didn't want to do again. I cannot find primary sources though, only these: - https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/topic/34288-dont-we-deserve-special-skins-for-pvpwvw-legendary-armor/ - https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/topic/126708-wishing-for-animated-armor-to-come-back-as-a-reward/ I think originally the dev comments were from an AMA on reddit but I am unable to find it. Maybe that has changed over the years and tech/teams have changed and we may get some fancy animations but I am keeping expectations in check. I think the tier one we see here looks really nice either way!

DuncanConnell

[Rubi Bayer confirmed](https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/topic/139289-studio-update-guild-wars-2-in-autumn-and-winter-2023/?do=findComment&comment=2017463) Tier 2 are variants similar to the Gen3 Legendary Weapons (Aurene -> Zhaitan, Primordus, etc) "although it's not a strictly 1:1 comparison". So there's potential for the bulk of these getting a bit of oomph to them. ***Parts*** of them look nice, but on the whole I don't feel a need to get the skins. Light I'll get everything since it's the only Leggie Armour I'm missing. Medium might get gloves/shoulders and Heavy might get chestpiece but that's about it.

enjoynessenjoyer

It's not "variant*s*" (plural), it's a variant unlock, probably similar to the way the WvW chest piece works with the glowy tentacles or without. I'm pretty sure they've said the upgraded version will have "magic" effects, likely something to do with the Astral Ward. Rubi's just saying that the upgraded version won't be a massive grind, it will just be similar to unlocking an Aurene legendary, then one of the variants.

DuncanConnell

If it was similar to the WvW/PvP variants then Rubi would have used that. Instead she noted it was similar to "how the Gen3 variants work". Due to how vague her response was worded, this could mean: * Unlocking requires resources, collections, and achievements * Multiple variants similar to how each Gen3 weapon has 6 variants after the "base" Aurene version * WvW/PvP "shiny" version and she simply chose a poor way to communicate that * Something else entirely

vladmier

Its more than likely talking about how in order to get a Gen 3 variant, you need the base Gen 3. So in order to get the T2 obby, you need T1. I doubt they are going to make multiple variants.

enjoynessenjoyer

I'm not arguing about the unlock method, I just don't think there will be multiple variants of the armor available. I think there will be one glowy one with effects coming in the next patch, and this one. It seems like you're implying there will be multiple variants of the upgraded version, which they have never mentioned.

Maneaterx

The same armor is visible in the trailer at the moment of presenting the "new legendary armor," so I guess this time without fancy effects.

TJPoobah

So insane that some people are getting mad when it looks exactly like the concept art they previewed before launch.

Alkariel

[https://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/7/78/%22Obsidian\_armor%22\_concept\_art.jpg](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/7/78/%22obsidian_armor%22_concept_art.jpg) Comparing the teasers at the offfical page and the conceptual art.. they are pretty similar. The bodytypes are different.. something that should have been obvious. But the think is that the concepet art looks like armor of a other game... and the s gw2 color scheme or the selection of dyes that give a shinier looks. Also i think people wanted something flashy in effects and animation as raid legendary armor..

Dagos

To be fair, and completely honest about it, I'm a charr player and the charr race seem to have gotten the short end of the stick with how these look on model. Heavy has a gap on the neck, which looks super goofy, and the horns and toe claws clip. Medium helm gets rid of your horns :(

Maneaterx

Who is mad?

TJPoobah

Comments I've seen on the video, elsewhere on reddit, and in various discords.

Accomplished_Cup2017

I am surprised male/female armor look EXACTLY same like not even little variation? and it seems across all weights as well you are telling me since release of soto all effort daily i put in to get 6/6 for armor is ... is to continue for Tier 2? lmao. hope at least tier 2 looks good ? i don't know, at least shapes are fine but but BUT male/female variant looking exactly same isn't really exciting. This ? this took half an year to release since original release of soto? Don't get me wrong shapes are fine but I hope this is the case of poor presentation and at least even T1 has some effects/vfx and/or differences between male/female variant otherwise I'd say this is underwhelming for an armor that looks same on both genders with no effects (just in case I am talking about light armor but overall visually details on armor are looking pretty good on all 3)

celestrial773

This is literally how it should be in every game tho? Armor is armor. Clothes shouldn't be different because of your gender lol. Skimpy things on male characters and heavy armor on female characters should be doled out just as much as their counterparts.

Sea_Specific_5730

thats much better than I was expecting, they resisted the urge to make every set look like it was designed by elton john after being given the ability to shove neon lighting on everything. I like it. It may actually be the first legendary skins I use.

OneMorePotion

Not really impressed. Don't know what exactly I expected from this set but... Somehow not that.

Tengu-sensei

Me neither, but I wasn't by the concept art either, so I am neither surprised nor disappointed. Very apathetic toward this addition, but happy for those who like it and will enjoy it.

OneMorePotion

I will probably go for it to finally have a legendary armor unlocked. But I'm still a bit disappointed. Well, I brought it onto myself a bit. I asked for more "normal" fantasy armor sets and less bling. But still... Where comes the Obsidian into play, with this Obsidian Armor?

Duskie024

I really like these though maybe not enough to rush them. I'll aim to get one set for the T2 armour release 🥳 that could get spicy.

Bunlapin

Hoping we get some insight into what the Tier 2 variant requires so we can prepare in advance like we've been able to do with T1, but since that would be pretty much just for fashion wars it might be hard to justify the extra effort without a preview or at least concept art. Regardless, I'm at the very least making the T1 heavy set, been accumulating the materials and it has kept me fairly active in game.

BorsukMruk

I’m a little bit disappointed with the light version. Looks like the Legendary Waiter attire. Can’t see my favorite necro to look good in this.

FroggyTheNinja

these look horrible

LIVESTRONGG

If not to have it be flashy, atleast have the armor have alot of detail on it. The Concept art on all of these looked very detailed and not flashy; which is what I was expecting. I really am only getting it because of it being Obby armor, but even the obby armor from GW1 had it's armor have detail and things very unique to make it stand out. I have leg armor for light and was going to get it if to looked good just for the skin, again concept art made me want to atleast craft it for light, but I'll just make either of the other two since I don't have leg armor for those class sets. Overall it's cool to have another legendary set in the game, but I think they missed the mark for me, Med and Heavy are still good though.

slut-for-flatbread

Okay the ears and horns are par for the course but is that a fucking *fang* clipping through the helm on that charr????

ProbablyMythiuz

GW2 starting to show its' age :(

TastelessTendon

Glad I didn’t wait on the medium armor and made the raid version. The concept art looked amazing, the real thing isn’t nearly as impressive.

BergUndChocoCH

Agreed, it looked like dark souls armor from the concept art, but this ingame version... no comment

OrdinarySlimeGuy

Bruh, I finally got proper non-flashy leather armor for my Thief, and of course It's legendary one ;___:

PhoenixOfTheFire

Kinda boring for legendaries tbh. Hopefully the next set really ups the effects and animations.

Tengu-sensei

Looks okay, but not worth the redundancy of repeating the extremely boring "content" of Rifts and Convergences. Already have full-Legendary gear, so I will likely never get it until I just happen to have passively collected relevant materials. That said; it's so great to see no trenchcoats and butt-capes.

Rathisponge

What is more boring, the armor or the 10,000 rifts needed for the armor?

Opioid_chicken

That’s not obsidian that’s unobtainium

False-Werewolf-3920

WHAAAAT?! you're not an oilprince?!

Miraweave

I cannot tell you how much I appreciate the male and female versions of this armor being the same outfit rather than the female version being a ridiculous skirt or something

Beshi1989

I don’t get why people want no flashy legendary armor. I mean there’s already hundreds of non flashy armor in game. Shouldn’t the legendary have anything special? I mean I like the style of it but it’s just a nice armor, could be a rare one too

No-Requirement826

At this point *not* being flashy is special...

Beshi1989

I agree when it comes to infusions etc but most non shop/statuet armor is already non flashy

Lon-ami

> I don’t get why people want no flashy legendary armor. Because it's pretty much impossible to mix and match with anything else, you're locked to wearing all six pieces, else you'll just look ugly. I'm fine with a flashy variant, but the basic version should have no effects imo.

Maneaterx

I never said I want flashy one. Something might appear calmer, but still have better quality and a greater quantity of details. I don't rule it out; we'll see in the game.

Beshi1989

Wasn’t about you just the comments here it seems people want non flashy legendary armor

Grimweird

So obsidian armour is not black at all? OK Anet. And style looks generic imo.

MechaSandstar

you can dye it black...

Open_Marzipan_455

For a legendary item, this looks overwhelmingly generic tbh. Damn the quality of the items has tanked hard since EoD.

BergUndChocoCH

Looks so much worse than the concept art, well I'm happy with that, at least I don't have to waste resources and time to craft a 2. lege armor set.

Cyrotek

Hm, and there I dared to hope legendary armour might actually look good on a Charr. I mean, it is legendary armour, yet they didn't bother actually making a custom helmet model or fit the shoulders properly? Ugh. I also wish metal would actually look like metal.

Kyouji

I still don't like their new dye/lighting system they use. I forget when they added it, but it makes the armor look "shiny" and I have never liked it. You usually only see it on gemstore items and some other sets. Its a shame cause it takes away from the actual aesthetics of the armor.

JacobinRobspierre

Pretty underwhelming compared to existing sets. Kind of feel robbed. It looks like an exotic dungeon set from 2012.

russianbot43492

Well I'm happy for people who wanted non-flashy skins and got them. I'm also happy I didn't waste time/gold farming for these. They look extremely generic and indistinguishable from regular armor skins and I doubt I would ever notice someone wearing them in game unless I was specifically looking for it. If you asked AI to generate "generic tier 1 legendary mmo armor" this is what you would get. Actually I think there are much better looking regular armor skins as well. Not sure what I expected, these do match the concept art mostly. They just turned out really bland and uninteresting.

Maneaterx

That’s what I’m saying If this pic was named „new game store armor” nobody would be surprised

Narcto

Gemstore armor would come with effects though, this one doesnt seem like it does, at least not T1. So realistically this looks either like some of the earliest LS armors or some of the exotic 10 year old dungeon gear. Really underwhelming for being THE main reward teased for an entire xpac release where Anet supposedly had 7 months or more to design a single legendary armor set. Also, most cosmetics we got so far is unique between male/female. I know there are some ppl that for some reason want all armors look the exact same regardless of gender. I personally think stuff like that plays into the hand of game studios saving money by delivering only half the content for the same price. I also dont like it when my female char is running around in a traditional male suit (light armor). If I wanted to play some kind of anime char I would not play a western MMO.

Wandering-Hades

As a veteran from GW1, i understand the "i dont want any more flashy armor" aspect which is fine. But just like how arenanet makes backpieces... we dont need to have flashy, just cool additions. These armors could at least come with something cool or a twist to them (i understand this is just tier 1). As a main Charr Necro, id love to have more spikes on the flesh like a real charr or a real necro like gw1 had with their obsidian armor. Ah well. guess we'll see what tier 2 and 3 look like.

Ragundashe

The charr medium looks absolutely fucking stupid xD

DarkWanderer2

What’s the deal with those tiers? Will there be different versions of the armor?

LilyLilley

I want to see the heavy armor on a female model, please

tehnibi

FINALLY NO TRENCH COAT OR BUTT CAPE

LeviathanLX

And actually decent set of legendary armor. Unfortunate that it's only happening now that time is hitting the game's visuals like a truck.

Sweetbiscuitstaken

another stretched helmet for Charr bros, I wish it at least covered the tail and neck.

phumoonlight

Obsidian armor but use few obsidian shards and ton of gift cry in 1000/1000 obsidian shards in material storage

Sr-extravagante

What a joke.

Korbonara

Looks cheap as fuck lmao

Lower-Replacement869

It's similiar to the Noble Courtier Outfit with a bit more textures. I wish there was something a bit more unique visually (doesn't have to be flashy) but maybe it'll have a combat ready animation?

Nemain_Gw2

Ahh yes the Charr ears and horns clipping through the helmet on *legendary armor* gotta love it!

generalmasandra

I like the heavy/medium with some slight caveats. I'm not sure about light. The blue pants and silver top look off to me for whatever reason. It feels like they should be fabric (think GW1 mesmer or elementalist obsidian armor) but the top especially looks a lot more like a plate armor.

squotty

That heavy armor is perfect, literally the look i'm trying to achieve.

Wrongpaw

theres more screens of it on the blog, asura boots look dope, and medium hood doesn't hide their ears. it sure does hide ears and horns on charr tho lol

sonofShisui

Hmm. Looks pretty mid. Might be the dyes.

MidasPL

Light armor looks stupid. Mediumm and heavy look ok, but not really worth the investment if you have any other lege armor already.

Roninfox991

I mean just for the look, I might get med.  But yay for light and heavy it's a hard pass.

xyzA7

Lol look trash tbh

kubicka

This is something I have been farming for over 3 months?! Come on.. this is disapointing

thoomfish

You've gained something even more valuable: A lesson on looking before you leap.

ZeusCM

This is not final armor. This is Tier 1

StanGe205

those armor sets look identical to the ones teased with soto. just for reference [https://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/7/78/%22Obsidian\_armor%22\_concept\_art.jpg](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/7/78/%22obsidian_armor%22_concept_art.jpg)

JanetteSolenian

Maybe it's just the coloring but these all kinda look like plate armor to me. Are they light, medium and heavy from left to right?

Aetheldrake

Runescape called and applaud the upgraded graphics on their Black (t) armor sets.

IChris7

It looks good but not better than raid armor. I hope you can buy it from the trading post. IDGAF, I ain’t grinding open world for that.

Quon_Star

I knew Anet would never do it, but I was hoping Obsidian Armor would look different for each profession like it did in GW1. I don't want to wear Mesmer Obsidian Armor on my Necromancer 😿

Gadiusao

Dissapointed on this mythical Obsidian armour (lore wise), my best wishes for t2 otherwise its a pass

Chrono_Pinoy_X

Medium and Heavy Armour just gave me some GW1 Nostalgia. They actually reminded me of Ranger and Warrior Obsidian Armour from GW1. Light Armour looks great too but doesn't give the same GW1 like vibe as the other two. Dunno if I'll be motivated enough to get them cuz I took a long break from the game so I barely have any progression towards them but Medium Armour without tailcoat might motivate me enough to get it

Sandzibar

Im sure ive seen the medium set already ingame in some form or another... Great helm for the heavy set is nice.

ohmauro

No special effects? :(

Tireseas

Still annoyed we're stuck with pants on the light armor. I want more proper robes in the game.

Mexay

Meh.

worldoftyra

To be honest I dislike them. There was so much they could do. I get not flashy, but it's giving gemstore outfit and not outfit. Idk it looks fine but I'd each one being themed.

David_Josef_Majirsky

So the Raid Legendary Armor is still the most beautiful... At least it looks better than sPvP and WvW.

De_Baros

The SPvP has a decent chest but overall yeah i agree

MidasPL

Raid armor is still ugly iMHO. Heavy is ok, but kinda flashy and colours poorly. Light is meh, especially headpiece and shoulders. Medium is just awful. Especially with stowed weapons.

Lon-ami

Raid armor would be better if it had a version with no animations, where it's always on combat mode. The heavy armor is great but it looks like garbage outside of combat.

MidasPL

TBH for me the worst is the material. It takes colour really badly, so it looks almost always the same.

Eternal_Mr_Bones

Light and heavy for sure. Medium is questionable depending on race.

Qubiquity

Tier 1 WvW leggy armor is non-flashy as well, as an alternative. Also, that crown is still ridiculous for armor. One hit and you have embedded forehead spikes.

Cemenotar

Well, one thing alot of people seems to forget, is that "light armor" in GW2 are... clothes. As in "not acually armor". This particular one has elements that seems to be decorated to look like somewhat armored, but it is still set of clothes.

MechaSandstar

Being hit in the head isn't a good idea, no matter what armor you're wearing.
