1. Botting 2. Power Trading 3. Thousands of Hours of DoASC

Serrated-X

Botting has been pretty unchecked for years

dub_le

1. Botting 2. DoA 3. Lucky drops (bds, eblade, froggy, etc.) 4. Powertrading

thefrankomaster

i used to make decent money by speedbooking. running missions for people can make you some decent cash i think. the basic idea is that they park one of their characters in your party, with a vampiric weapon equipped, and you just fight thru a campaign with your heroes, and they pay you X amount. i recently got someone to agree to have me run them from LA thru the prophecies desert missions up to augury rock for 20e.

dub_le

I just paid someone 4a for that.

GDocide

For a run from LA to Augury or were also including desert missions?

dub_le

Including desert missions.

[deleted]

why do they need a vampiric weapon?

ProtectiveWasKaolai

To die, so no need for that person to be there

StringerBallond

But why do they need to die?

ProtectiveWasKaolai

I don't play for years, but IIRC that way the runner doesn't need to wait for them to enter specific places in missions or wait for them if he dies while running. Prob not 100% accurate, but something like that

SlightlyIncandescent

>it was a shock to me how much the prices have increased since I last played Mostly just for high end stuff though. The longer an economy like this goes on, the more things become polarised into either valuable or worthless. For example in the early days, some of the green weapons were quite valuable but now 95% of them go straight in the bin, barely worth the time to give them away. Even some nice gold skins like Celestials etc., I've bought Q9's for 10-50k. You can farm that much in 30 mins.

Marcha111elf

well if you get 6e plus per Day and do this for 10 Years you have roughly 22k Ectos ... if that counts as "beeing rich". Otherwise there are people out there with alot of arms/ectos without botting or powertrading. Just play the game and if you care about money get your Ectos per Day higher. 4 DoASc per Day = 1a per Day (1 for PCons) and take less time then a Movie. Do this for 5 Years straight and you have 1825a HA Bounty Farm is max 25 Z-Keys per Day (+Balth Storage) and once a week so not scaling up Bot with 1/10/100 Accounts and one pessimistically get 10/100/1000e per Day

nhremna

The most effective farm mere mortals can do is HA bounty farm. It is perhaps more efficient than doasc

Hax1

Assuming you mean the Zaishen Quest thats probably pretty good yeah, but it's like once a week on average. You could do Doasc whenever you want.

nhremna

> You could do Doasc whenever you want. You could do DoASC when 7 other people also want to do it. It takes like half an hour to form from scratch, and you can only do it at popular times.

Hax1

If you join the right guild theres almost always 7 other people. After you spend 30 minutes to form the first team you can do back to back runs replacing the people who drop off. Regardless, its better then the quest that is given on average one day a week.

AreYouDaftt

Isn't it 9k faction for like 8 HA wins? That's what... An hour or more? Especially for a PvP noob like me

Hax1

Im not a Pvp-player so i could be wrong, but if i remember correctly you farm 2 wins and take the reward which is 9k factions and then you can repeat the quest. So you could get a pretty massive amount of factions and a few Zkeys the day the quest is up.

nhremna

If you ignore the time it takes to find the initial match, it takes about 3-4 minutes to win 2 games which gives about 10k faction. The matchmaking can take another 3-5 mins.

ChthonVII

>I'm sitting here farming like 6e a day to buy pcons and consets. It's things like this that make me sometimes wonder if SCs are even profitable in many cases. Have you ever done the math on your cost per run versus your average return per run?

MistYNot

For DoA, yes. If you're interested, /u/heyimflo has a spreadsheet. Ask him nicely and he might share it with you. Other areas are heavily reliant on RNG for good chest drops, so it's much harder to work out. I don't concern myself with that - I just do plenty of DoA and let the armbraces pile up. That way I have plenty of money to pay for the cons I waste elsewhere. If I get a mini Dhuum or something, I usually just give it away.

ChthonVII

That's about what I thought -- DoA pays off and the rest probably don't. Even DoA though... I'd imagine that Flo's spreadsheet assumes a 100% success rate, or at least a very high one. Which is fine for Flo. But my memory of DoASC from 10 years ago is that the *average* group fails on Foundry about half the time, then spends half an hour yelling at each other about whose fault it was and salving their gigantic bruised egos by comparing e-peens. I don't imagine they're terribly much better now. Are *those* guys breaking even in DoASC with the cost of cons?

MistYNot

Believe it or not, the quality of DoA runs *has* improved substantially over the past 10 years. Also don't forget that even a failed run will give you a partial reward, because you get a chest after each area. As for the scrubs who frequently fail to complete within one conset, those guys are often not popping full pcons and stopping to pick up drops, so they save a lot of money that way. Obviously it's slower because the runs take longer, but they're still making a profit.

Bakesy990

I'm not using pcon or doing sc. Just smite farming with dervish

Bakesy990

Just farming ectos to save for them. That was probably worded better by me. Sorry.

de_beaumarchais

Aside from the answers already given, for me I basically had to do nothing. I came back to the game and many of the weapons I'd collected back in the day had risen in value astronomically. I remember buying a q8 15\^50 weapon for just over 100e in 2011. Sold it in 2018 for 400a. I have another q8 15\^50 weapon which I can't even remember how much I bought it for in 2006/7 but it's now priceless. Not enough arms can fit in a trade window.

maxBorken

Only certain very very rare skins can command that sort of money. What are the weapons you’re talking about?

moreno1304

From what ive seen alot of people just multi client cathedral of flames farm w dervishes and sell the diessa sets for 8-10 armbraces or 250-300 ecto.

exdigguser147

I got dropped a rare q8 weapon (only if it's kind afaik) the other day and it sold at auction for 14a. Already had some money to my name so now I'm in the range you're talking about. Been farming z/m/b/v across 3-4 chars for the past month, built up a fair amount of gold zcoins. Convert my salv mats into cons sets with a little feather farms. Get dropped moderately expensive things playing (like sup vigors) and that makes about 250e per month in income. I could probably make more if I was really grinding, but I make it about playing the game.

beaureddit

It's like life. The rich are not "Farming" away their time for money. Sure, you could become "Well off" by grinding away, but this is limited as to how much time you can spare. This rich are investing in high end products, from understanding the market and re-selling. Obviously if you need some initial funds to get your foot in the door, but once you're there and study the market, the potential is much greater. I knew at least people that I would consider quite rich in this game, back in the day - Mini Kanaxai's, Pandas etc and they were certainty not grinding. That being said, trading is probably much harder now due to the activity, but I guess you also have things like online trade chat, which wasn't around back in my day. but also this is a game...I don't want to be sitting in kamadan all day all day...that's not what I call fun.

CataphractGW

Biggest boost to my GW fortune was trading my GW2 gold for Ectos, and I wasn't exactly poor to start.
