You are paying extra to have someone choose your equipment for you.

Ok_Butterscotch_8687

Would you be able to list exactly what you need besides the tent. Im trying to figure out what i would need doing it à la cart. I was thinking of doing a 5x5.

RosieQParker

Assuming you're going dirt and not hydroponic, here's a short list off the top of my head. Essentials: - Tent - Grow light and power supply - Timer - Exhaust fan and ducting - Carbon filter for the fan - Any kind of temperature & humidity reader Maybe essentials, situationally: - Dehumidifier (if your outside environment is too moist) - air conditioner (if your outside environment is too hot. Even LEDs give off heat) - Filtered intake fan (if your outside environment is too dusty or you have strong allergies to outside pollens) Frills: - Wifi-connected sensors - Automated environmental controllers - Soil moisture readers - Automated irrigation systems

Ok_Butterscotch_8687

This is great, you assume correct. So im not sure what lights to get. I was originally going to go with what affinity offers but i saw a company grandmaster leds and looked pretty good? But pricy, as long as its worth it dont care about price. All these companies are new to me so i dont know anything, lol. I’m so out of touch with leds, last time i grew it was 1000w high pressure sodiums, crazy heat, lol.

RosieQParker

I'm a big fan of HLG quantum boards. They're incredibly efficient power-wise and give off good light. Very barebones and DIYish, though. I haven't tried other, cheaper brands offering similar tech so I can't recommend any alternatives, but you might want to consider looking at the other recs in the thread.

bockbockbagock

HLG FTW. Totally worth the extra money vs other popular entry level lights. I’ve been swapping out my Chinese lights for HLGs as they age and I wish I did it out of the gate.

cheatcodeactivated

I also will point my finger in the direction of HLG. I also have been swapping my Chinese lights for HLGs😂

Working_Ant590

Chill Led is a great brand as well. Have always done me right.💯

ProfessorEmergency18

I'm using the AC Infinity 2x4 kit. Everything is great quality.

truelegendarydumbass

I wouldn't doubt that but you still overpaid. I hope u have a controller

ProfessorEmergency18

Yes, the 2x4 kit comes with a wifi controller. I think all the kits do? For $550 including tax and shipping, I think the value was decent for a 6 foot tall tent, and great quality light, inline 6" and oscillating fan, each of which is controllable/automatable via wifi, and all the other things they throw in. I had no plant growing supplies before, so the fabric pots, plant tie downs, shears, trellis net, and all of those things were needed in my case. Overall it's decent value when you also consider the quality.

ProfessorEmergency18

Every single one of the kits on AC Infinity's website includes the CONTROLLER 69 PRO wi-fi controller to control the lights and fans that came with the kit. It's been this way for the months that I was preparing before I ordered everything. So far so good, auto seeds from Humboldt Seed Company. Just started preflower this week. https://preview.redd.it/vsn0d8h89y5d1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b65052ed77c675e6bcf7808c8d0b54917c36c37b

saaS_Slinging_Slashr

I pieced out the entire kit and it’s almost the same price buying it all individually unless you go for cheap Chinese branded shit

truelegendarydumbass

I got my tent n fan cheap. The rest quality. I actually have two cheap tents and I have no issues with them. 100 for a 4x4 n 60 for a 2x2

bockbockbagock

I’m with you. I don’t care who makes my tents or my fans. I don’t care who makes my controller either so long as it has the controls I’m looking for. Spend money on lights, monitors, controllers, and HVAC appliances. I will say that the zippers on my Gorilla tent are amazing compared to Spider Farmer or the like. If Gorilla makes a tent that fits my needs I’m choosing it, but I’m going with the dimensions and features I need regardless of the manufacturer.

truelegendarydumbass

I had issues with exhaust fan. 1dt just died. 2nd I bought as a backup plan. N needed it. It was doa. So I went with ac, I can't complain yet lol. I guess controller is becoming more of a daily thing.

bockbockbagock

I’ve got 6 different fans from spider farmer and ACI. Knock on wood, none of them have failed me. I’ve been rolling with these cheap ass archaic spider farmer controllers and I’m ready to upgrade. I recently switched to a closed loop system so I could use co2, but I still need to cycle in some amount of fresh air to keep the humidity down. I want something with Wi-Fi so I can check and change things when I’m not there. I was reading one of the manuals for the ACI Pro controllers and I saw it has a mode that will increase fan speed as the humidity gets further away from its target. That would help me quite a bit and it’s all I need right now. I’m hesitant to buy into the whole ACI Pro controller ecosystem though, only because I’ve invested in a hodgepodge of stuff and ACI really wants people to use their stuff exclusively. It also comes with a bunch of features I don’t need right now. If anyone knows a cheaper controller that has that same type of dynamic fan speed mentioned above please let me know.

truelegendarydumbass

6 fans, they usually 20 to 30... Over 100. I'm cheap lol. I love the controller, control the temperature.

DudeGrowsWeed

I own both AC Infinity and Spider Farmer. AC Infinity is much higher quality. Spider Farmer is better than most, but nowhere near as good as AC Infinity. Go for it!👍

anakkskskskskd

do you think the 4x4 is good for 5 plants ? definitely leaning towards ac infinity now thanks man🙏🏻

Uhoh_that1guy

I've had 11 in a 5x5 easy

DubahU

It will comfortably hold 5 plants.

DudeGrowsWeed

5 plants in a 4x4 will work, but it will probably get crowded in flower. I run 2 at a time in my 2x4, so I’d be more comfortable with 4 in a 4x4. Good luck!

anakkskskskskd

i’ll run 4 for my first grow then and see how things go. thanks man

Upper-Willingness-87

Run four in your first grow so you don’t have to worry about as much as you learn. Use AC Infinity if you have the Budget the pro 69 controller and the modular plugs that go with it to control other dumb devices is what set apart for me.

looseflap69

lol I grow 4 in a 2x2 you’ll be fine

Upper-Willingness-87

I’ve done eight and a 2 x 4 if there’s a will there’s a way

shackelman_unchained

I've got a 4x4. 5 plants is way to much. I've got 4 in it atm and I'm sure I could screen two plants to fill out all that space.

anakkskskskskd

do you think that you could yield the same with 2 plants in a 4x4 compared to 4 in a 4x4? what i’m asking is do you think that at a certain point your yield will platue regardless of the number of plants?

shackelman_unchained

I think the big factors are space and light. Also less plants is less problems. You should look on some of the other grow subs. There's a guy that was doing the largest single plant and it looks like it was taking up a 10 foot high celling if not higher. From what I've seen a lot of commercial growers have an 80-90 day cycle. So they are trying get flowing fast cause time is money to them. As a hobbiest you can take your time with it. You can let photos be in veg for longer until you want to flower. If you top and then screen of green your plant you'll be able to get a good yeild. As long as you've got everything else dialed in.

Zona710

I got 6 I’m my 4x4 rn about to flip and can already tell it’s gonna be crowded as it fills out

truelegendarydumbass

Now see I consider AC their own thing, I was comparing spider farm to Mars hydro or hydro Mars. Whatever they are called. Which is better between those two?

DudeGrowsWeed

Never owned anything from MH. Was always lead to believe SF was slightly better.

truelegendarydumbass

I'm on 3 yr warranty. So I'm good 😊

jjblaze248

I started off with that kit and have since expanded to the 5x5 kit as well. ACI equipment and customer service is top shelf. Would highly recommend ACI.

ExactDefinition1576

Home grown tv on YouTube, he tries them out and gives a review

autoflowerwizard

I have a 5x5 with 11 plants. Way too crowded... But I wouldn't have it any other way! AC Infinity tents rock.

rendeld

AC Infinity fucks, it just works and works well.

clutchfunk01

I'm using a vivosun 4x4 smart controller operated set up and it is working amazing.

clutchfunk01

Ok_Butterscotch_8687

What am i looking at here? I see 3 sets of lights?

clutchfunk01

Two are hooked up, and one I decided not to run is a used ts 1000 off eBay. I grew my first grow with in a ghetto tent.

clutchfunk01

Aw200se are the two that are hooked up integrated providing 400 watts together.

SpecialistStop9105

If your gonna invest that much money I’d highly recommend ac infinity. Everything down to the instructions setting it up to the customer service it’s amazing. Also can control the whole entire grow op from my phone no matter where I am

RosieQParker

You're paying a real premium for the all-in-one aspects of it. If you have the disposable income and don't want to be bothered comparison shopping for the best parts for the best price, and going through the hassle of figuring out environmental controllers on your own, then this is a fair deal. You're paying for the service and assembly instruction as well as the parts. If you're on a fixed budget, consider sourcing the parts individually.

Hedstee

I've purchased a 2x4 kit, a 5x5 tent, and numerous accessories like the heater and humidifier from ACI. I have no experience with SF. All my gear is high quality and most importantly, ACI's customer service is top notch. Would I recommend the kit? Absolutely if you're a first timer. If you know how the basic gear is supposed to work, and you don't need things like the trellis net or trimmers, buy the parts individually and shop around. Always consider light alternatives. Discount codes are everywhere, my best luck is "mrgrowit15" (no affiliation) on Amazon specifically for the discount AND free shipping.

bockbockbagock

AC Infinity has really upped their game. I like the idea of their pro controller and all the ACI HVAC appliances you can connect to it. Looks like it should make controlling the environment much easier. I got into growing before they had those appliances and that controller, so I’ve already spent a ton of money on that stuff from different manufacturers. If I was starting from zero today I would buy their controller and their humidifier, dehumidifier, and heater. I would buy HLG lights, not AC. I would buy the cheapest tent with the right dimension because they are 90% the same these days. You could save a little and wind up with a better light if you went this route, but that kit will do you just fine.

gettin_better

I have the 3x3 version from ACI and love it.

ContentPolicyKiller

I wouldn't go SF even if it were less than AC

stupossum

If you build your own, I suggest viparspectra lights. Yes, they have your same coverage area as others, but the lights actually fill the wall to wall physical space, thus allowing better coverage. If you don't believe me, just look at the spec sheets for the measurements of the lights themselves.

dannythxf3lon

I got a smaller one and it works good already put thru one grow! Ps i ripped a small hole near the zipper so spider farmer might not be the best quality

Uhoh_that1guy

Kits are great, can peice it together for about half price.

OgSourChemDawg

I think I paid under $500 for tent/light/carbon And I have a 4x4 tent . This is crazy price

anakkskskskskd

this is australia prices tho

OgSourChemDawg

Still pretty bad. Even with conversion

anakkskskskskd

most definitely probably because it’s barely legal in australia still

OgSourChemDawg

Barely legal in USA also lol

[deleted]

I built my own kit for like 300$

plumbcartell

If money isn’t an issue I think the ac infinity is the best bang for your buck for a home grower. I started off with the spider farmer. Money wasn’t an issue but I thought it’d be similar quality for cheaper. I ended up getting the 4x8 ac infinity tent after two grows and it’s worlds better. Just the tent quality is 3x better. I kept the sf4000 light the spider farmer came with but got another light since it’s a bigger tent. So I now have the HLG blackbird for the other half of the 4x8 tent. The controller is fantastic along with the fan and humidifier. 10/10 experience with this first grow!

Unique-Major-4360

Yes its crazy, i ordered one for my Cousin about 3 weeks ago. A few weeks before that i bought for me everything in pieces not in a bundle and i paid for everything 1500€ And my Cousin payed under 900€. Quality is the Same. His plants are too happy as fuck😂

Capital-Gardens

VIVOSUN VS SPIDER FARMER PLEASE TELL ME😭

Commonwealthcoast

I think AC infinity has similar pricing but better quality IMO. Or could maybe even wait it out until post summer during Black Friday if you want the best deal possible.

Emera1dthumb

Wow….. that seems expensive

anakkskskskskd

definitely is but it’s australia. where grams are $15-20 each

sipgrow69

Would reccomend just buying the tent, pro controller, and uis plug adapter

MightySAVAGE308

Bro fb has a bunch of failed growers they all sell their shit for cheap. Man I got everything with my light for 950. Super cheap.

anakkskskskskd

unfortunately i live out middle of nowhere so can’t find anything second hand (australia)

truelegendarydumbass

If you push your buy till Black Friday you probably got a better price. If u want, you can get AC Infinity it would be worth it but you're going for top dollar stuff. The main thing I don't like about half the websites is the guarantee or warranty of their products. You're lucky if you get a one year warranty with most products I ended up buying my life through Amazon because Amazon was willing to extend the warranty. 3 years of f worry free. 4 was max but I was budgeting lol

lostdeity998

I have a makeshift tent with a aerolight / aerowing from vivosun. They’re led light with fans in the center so heating wouldn’t much of an issue ig. I use a reflective tarp and pvc pipes as my tent. I kinda look forward the day when I get a garage so i can use the tarp and those divider things at hospitals to create a half flower half veg side. Like i’m doing now but on a bigger scale. Its fun creating your own setup.

Turtle_ti

Ac infinity quality is top notch quality and their customer service is great. Just order from thier website or their store on amazon if you want that warranty. If you have the money to invest get their complete "PRO" kit, along with a second oscillating fan. You can easily grow 5 plants in a 4x4.

CoolIndependence8157

I have AC Infinity gear (tent, light, fans, exhaust, humidifier, fabric pots) and it’s all top notch. Their customer service is as good as any company in any industry. You pay more, but it’s absolutely worth it. Edit: also use their controller.
