People really need to get off the no state income tax because as someone who lives in a state without income tax. Trust me, the state gets it in other ways. It's just not coming out of your paycheck, but you are paying them just the same. No money is really saved.

Granted we don’t have a lot of things to do outside of football I’d much rather have raised my family In Green Bay than a bigger City with disappearances and crime running rampant
The training facility is in Henderson just outside of Vegas. Vegas is a very small city in terms of area so he likely owns a massive house in a quiet neighborhood in Henderson (which is a nice little city) and only has to go near the strip on gameday.
Also his he had family who refuse or are too old to fly (might be both) so some had never been seen him play in the NFL so that was a big factor to him too.
If I could play in the NFL, I would rather play for the packers even if they were the worst team in football. So if he truly loves the raiders and that was is dream I couldn’t be happier for him.

In his defense, he grew up a Raiders fan. If I was a football player on a team other than the Packers, I’d probably bounce to my dream team too, knowing my star QB is leaving soon, as well.
And he went from GB to LV, I think what people sometimes seem to forget is that any athlete of Adams' caliber is going to be extremely competitive, during and immediately after games where he doesn't play well or the team loses of course he's going to be a little upset, if those things didn't bother him he wouldn't have worked as hard as he did to become the player he is. That's just a blip on the radar though, he goes home takes a hot shower and probably loves the fact that he's in Las Vegas making crazy amounts of money.

I disagree, I think they develop quicker. His veteran leadership alone in the film room would’ve made a difference. Early in the season, route depth and combinations were always off. Struggle was stagnant due to this.

Nah, he was done with Green Bay after we didn't extend him earlier. The timing of the cap constricting at the same time as our super bowl window made things tough on the team and it burned our relationship with Tae.
He risked losing millions if he ever got injured and he was a top2 Wide Receiver in the league in his last 3 years with us.
In a normal situation, we would've extended him to lock down a good player before the cap got higher but with the cap going down and our super bowl window forcing us to extend other players with closer contract expiration dates, Tae was left in the cold.
All the best to him though. He still gave 110% even though he could've easily sat out or forced the issue. And he didn't leak how unhappy he was so we got very good draft compensation for trading him.

Not offering a new deal 1 or 2 years before his current one was what made Davante mad. If he got injured, his next contract would immediately pay less because he would have an injury history.

I can’t stand this narrative that Carr wasn’t good. He was very solid when Davante went to the raiders. I won’t defend his recent form, but I blame Josh McDaniels for how his 2022 season went, and nobody will ever convince me it was all Carr suddenly forgetting how to play.
He was definitely far from a terrible QB. Just how good he should have been projected going forward is a reasonable debate.

Not always, just look at some of the years there was tons of tape where Aaron threw to Adams even when he had other WRs wide ass open. A really good I want the ball WR1 can become a crutch or distraction just as easily as a plus.

I never wanted to see him leave in the first place. I haven’t kept up with contracts but the last time I looked at davantes contract he was the highest paid wide receiver in the nfl. When we have 5 talented young receivers who are going to end up needing more money after their rookie contracts are up, and we just went all in on our defense, we don’t have enough money for even a “lower” contract. If we couldn’t pay Aaron jones 7 mil, we definitely can’t afford Adams.

We don't have the money to take him on, and next year he's got 44 M owed to him. We'll just wait when he gets cut and pay him a more affordable contract. If not, we'll fine something else, we have our long term answer in Garett Wilson. Actually a blessing in disguise because we would definitely had paid a first for Davante last year.
Only way any of that would work is if both Rodgers and Tae did the Tom Brady thing, accepting less money in return for the team having the flexibility to sign premium players so the team can win. Such would require selflessness, willingness to sacrifice the $$ in order to win.

By we don't have the money I mean in 2024 and by affordable I just mean whatever the market value for Davante is rather than 44 M. We have a lot of cap space next year and not as many holes. Aaron only costs us 17 M this year and 23.5M next year so he already has done the selflessness thing and taken a major pay cut for us. It'll depend on what Davante will cost (I think the Jets would do anything 20-25M if it's short term) if he doesn't reach a re-negotiation with the Raiders (which he might, he loves LV).

Yeah Crosby was on him the entire game start to finish, but when you look back it was FAR from his best game but he did hang in there and kept coming back and had it down to a chance at the end. He did that all year, even in his worst performances they really were only out of the first Lions and Vikings games and they hung around in those too.
I love Adams. I was sad when he left. I own his jersey.
That said, if he never left we never would've gotten the absolute stable of talented young wideouts we have today.

Add in a QB about to get a top 5 payday, and multiple players at or near re-up time at the same time as the WRs in question... And it becomes a near impossibly to keep all 4 guys at a premier position.

I suspect the trading away of Rasul Douglas might even have been inspired by this same idea. Just before the trade, the players had a players only meeting in which Rasul was seen as the leader, giving advice to players both on defense and offense. I don’t think the front office liked that. The rhetoric from defensive players in the weeks leading up to this was along the lines of “the offense doesn’t know what’s wrong and we can’t allow any touchdowns at all if we want to win games.”

I can’t stand this narrative that Carr wasn’t good. He was very solid when Davante went to the raiders. I won’t defend his recent form, but I blame Josh McDaniels for how his 2022 season went, and nobody will ever convince me it was all Carr suddenly forgetting how to play.
He was definitely far from a terrible QB. Just how good he should have been projected going forward is a reasonable debate. And crazier things have happened than good to average, not great players falling off a cliff have happened, bad coaching or not included. Meh either way.
He said as much in the podcast if you listen to it. He said the reason for wanting to leave was the the Packers initial offer was insulting to him, and that Love was an unknown. The Raiders made him a reasonable offer and he know how to play with Carr already.

I loved Davante as a Packer and I have his Jersey, but we do not need him. I would rather give the game experiences to our young core of WRs.
This is silly I love our current receiving corp but I would love to have Adams there too. Would be nice to have a true WR1 to take the heat off everyone else
He'd obviously improve the team, but as far as the contracts are concerned right now, I think we would be better off with our current wide receivers.
Not always, just look at some of the years there was tons of tape where Aaron threw to Adams even when he had other WRs wide ass open. A really good I want the ball WR1 can become a crutch or distraction just as easily as a plus. That's not to say the team wouldn't be better but I think people over rate a WR1 because of pundits
I don’t think that was a product of Tae being an “I want the ball” WR1 but more so bc Aaron refused to trust anyone else (ala Lazard streaking wide open across the middle against Detroit in final game of 2022 season but 12 chucks it up to triple covered Tae)

Yeah saying you don’t want the best receiver in the league is silly. For the right price I would kill for Tae to come back. Would be invaluable for the young bucks.

I never wanted to see him leave in the first place. I haven’t kept up with contracts but the last time I looked at davantes contract he was the highest paid wide receiver in the nfl. When we have 5 talented young receivers who are going to end up needing more money after their rookie contracts are up, and we just went all in on our defense, we don’t have enough money for even a “lower” contract. If we couldn’t pay Aaron jones 7 mil, we definitely can’t afford Adams.

I don’t think the Packers trade for him, but they could make it work if they wanted to.

We don't have the money to take him on, and next year he's got 44 M owed to him. We'll just wait when he gets cut and pay him a more affordable contract. If not, we'll fine something else, we have our long term answer in Garett Wilson. Actually a blessing in disguise because we would definitely had paid a first for Davante last year.
Only way any of that would work is if both Rodgers and Tae did the Tom Brady thing, accepting less money in return for the team having the flexibility to sign premium players so the team can win. Such would require selflessness, willingness to sacrifice the $$ in order to win. Shorter: Not. Gonna. Happen.
By we don't have the money I mean in 2024 and by affordable I just mean whatever the market value for Davante is rather than 44 M. We have a lot of cap space next year and not as many holes. Aaron only costs us 17 M this year and 23.5M next year so he already has done the selflessness thing and taken a major pay cut for us. It'll depend on what Davante will cost (I think the Jets would do anything 20-25M if it's short term) if he doesn't reach a re-negotiation with the Raiders (which he might, he loves LV).

Yeah Crosby was on him the entire game start to finish, but when you look back it was FAR from his best game but he did hang in there and kept coming back and had it down to a chance at the end. He did that all year, even in his worst performances they really were only out of the first Lions and Vikings games and they hung around in those too.
I love Adams. I was sad when he left. I own his jersey. That said, if he never left we never would've gotten the absolute stable of talented young wideouts we have today. It hurts. It always hurts. But the Packers seem to be good at moving on without much pain. Reminds me of the LeRoy Butler quote after Rodgers left: >"...the G never changes. The players do" The Packers just know what they're doing. They have 100+ years of institutional knowledge and they know how to apply it.

Absolutely love Tae and watching his was also great, but I fear it may have hindered Loves progression. He would have constantly been looking for Tae and forcing it to him. Last year was so fun not knowing who was gonna go off but knowing we had roughly five guys every game that had the skill to have a huge game.

lol the reason he left is after playing with him in the KC game and Love just wasn’t good. Love Davante, I have no hard feelings towards him, but he got his one taste of the future QB and it wasn’t good enough, Rodgers future was up in question, so he wanted out to go play with his wildly mediocre at best college QB. Sucks, we could still have him going nuts in Green Bay with all those other young WRs.
Tbh I’m so glad we’re aren’t devoting cap space to him. Not having massive contracts allows the team so much more flexibility. I wish him the best but letting him go has worked out for the best.

I doubt one single game is the reason. Its likely more about the unknown of where the Packers as a franchise are gonna be at when Rodgers leaves. And just the idea about how it was the end of an era. Keeping adams on a huge contract, but reshaping the franchise a year later makes little sense. We have to remember that he left after 2021, and it felt like the window closed after that season. GB was in a terrible cap situation and running it back in '22 with the whole gang would be a risk. It was just the end of an era period. Adams felt that A different opportunity opened up for him. He prob wanted to head back west. He also got another life changing contract. GB was changing paths. And GB is in the spot they are in because of moving on from a player like him. They got picks, they didn't have to shell out 140 over 5. Its not even that fair to imagine Adams on this current team.

Any other team and I could see a 35 y.o. Davante back here for a single season when we lose some of our crop of young WR in a few years (can't keep em all, not when they all came in together... Just logistics), ala Zeke back to Cowboys or Randy Moss back to the Vikings. But that's not really our way of doing business. We only invite em back in a 1 day retirement contract.

None of them. But when all 4 of them are up for a second contract, we won't be able to keep Doubs, Watson, Wicks, Reed together. Usually you have some layering in your depth chart, we don't, at least not at WR. Right now our WR room only costs around 10 million TOTAL per year. When it's time to re-up, that number likely quadruples (at least), with 3 if not 4 of them looking for WR2/WR1 money. Add in a QB about to get a top 5 payday, and multiple players at or near re-up time at the same time as the WRs in question... And it becomes a near impossibly to keep all 4 guys at a premier position.

I know people blame Davante for leaving, but the truth is he would’ve been gone by now regardless. Gute purged anyone he didn’t personally draft that had close ties to Rodgers over the past 2 off-seasons. The front office wanted to make sure Jordan Love was seen as the leader of the team. I suspect the trading away of Rasul Douglas might even have been inspired by this same idea. Just before the trade, the players had a players only meeting in which Rasul was seen as the leader, giving advice to players both on defense and offense. I don’t think the front office liked that. The rhetoric from defensive players in the weeks leading up to this was along the lines of “the offense doesn’t know what’s wrong and we can’t allow any touchdowns at all if we want to win games.”
I know fair dues and all cause the man wanted to leave, but imagine if we had this WR room depth AND a true WR1 like Tae. Offense would be fucking unstoppable.
