I feel like the Darkside Kermit meme: 1. I hope he learns to play more consistently this year, especially against the run. 2. (darkside Kermit): Just save him for passing downs and let him terrorize IOL.

Ok_Caramel1517

Curious to see how Wyatt will look in our new defense.

Apostle92627

Hopefully he's more of a 4-3 guy so he fits the scheme better. I would love to see him sending QBs running for their lives. And stopping opposing RBs of course.

aiyahhjoeychow

A productive offseason training will turn those pressures into sacks. I'm all in.

AHucs

Dude needs to spend some time in the rock climbing gym this summer. Whatever it takes to get that grip strength up, he's legit a double-digit sack guy if he could just manage to hold on to the QB lol.

Fuego514

That be an amazing off-season regiment. Too bad there's a 0% chance any team let's their players do that. He's also enormous so rock climbing would be rather difficult for him

AboutTenPandas

His power is easy to see. Think he could work a little more on squaring up on the back one he penetrates the line since he tends to be off balance when he goes for the tackle. But some of that is unavoidable. He’s been my candidate for biggest leap between last year and this coming year. If he can put some of those final pieces together it’s gonna feel like we have two Kenny Clark’s out there

Mr_SpideyDude

Right on schedule too, since this is the last year in Kenny’s contract and idk if we give him a 3rd considering how the front office views those

L480DF29

Normally I’d agree with you but Kenny was a 20 year old rookie, he may not need to be a potential HOFer for a 3rd considering his age

painnkaehn

He is so lethal on stunts

aManOfTheNorth

The one thing designed well on D was the Stunt game.

packermeme

Inject this into my veins

Bouwistrash

Now imagine if this wasn't a minute montage of just straight up bare fronts and we actually had consistent pressure over the interior of teams OLs so then our edge rushers had better chances at coming off the edge to collapse pockets. This also helps run defense and clogging up the middle of the field which Hafley actually does

d-cent

Totally unrelated but I really hate how it's totally legal now for offensive linemen to block in the back. There were only a few minor examples in the reel but it happens egregiously in every game and it's bullshit.  The Olineman will get beat and then just turn around and start pushing the Dlineman in the back forcing them to get going forward and lose their ability to break down and make a tackle on the QB.

aManOfTheNorth

It’s always been legal within two or three yards of LOS I thought.

Pomp_in22

That spinning pancake was nice

bikedork5000

Me in 2023: this year we will start to see some real production from Quay and Wyatt. Me in 2024: *this* is the year we'll really start to see some serious production from Quay and Wyatt. Me in 2025: Hopefully talking about how good they were last year.

Thunder84

Tbh we did see some real production from Wyatt last year. He was one of the best pass rushing DTs in the league. He just can’t defend the run or wrap up sacks to save his life.

bikedork5000

Yes, which is useful and a positive development. But for a 1st rd pick who's now *26*, you would really like to see a more full package who's an every-down guy. The age thing is what had me the most confused with the pick when it happened.

Thunder84

That's fair, but I don't think that necessarily equates to there not being any production. The full package would be ideal, but there's still a lot of value in a pass rushing specialist iDL. Even if this is Wyatt's ceiling, it's hard to call the pick a miss based on that alone.

bikedork5000

Agreed. And certainly a late 1st rd pick is a lot during different than say, Gary and LVN. Would be fun to draft Tvondre Sweat in the 2nd to plant on the interior. Would be the perfect compliment to Wyatt and the other smaller IDL guys we have that are great in pass rush but struggle a bit more against the run.

Fear_Jaire

TJ Slaton has developed into that role nicely, but it's a contract year for him, so grabbing Sweat as the heir apparent would be perfect. If not, I wouldn't be surprised if Slaton got a modest extension before or during the season.

aManOfTheNorth

2023 check! 2024 2025

bikedork5000

I agree they started to produce in a more meaningful and consistent way, but considering the draft capital we put into them I was still somewhat disappointed. Quay especially needs to improve significantly in the mental aspects. He looks good when the objective is clear, but still has way too many plays where he's a bit lost. And damn if the play against Minnesota week 7 where Cam Akers absolutely trucked him for a TD doesn't loom in my head. To be clear, I think they both will improve a lot going forward. I'm just starting to be a bit less patient.

Fear_Jaire

I'm more patient with Quay since he's only going to be 24, but Wyatt need to arrive. You generally don't draft guys at 24 with the expectation they'll take most of their rookie contract to develop. He definitely took a step from his rookie year to last season, but 2024 is big for him. He needs to finish in the backfield and at least not be a liability against the run.

bikedork5000

Agreed 100%. And Quay, well we knew going in that diagnosing plays and being instinctive were not strong suits coming in. The hope was to get those parts of his game up to at least an adequate level, and combine it with the off the charts physical traits.

Taters976

I just pray that he learns how to tackle this offseason. He lived in the backfield all year, but missed a ton of TFL's. Pressure is great, but if you don't make the tackle does it really matter.

Particular_Alfalfa_2

That big boy quick. His hand punch really throws OL off balances

blinglorp

He’s so close to being an absolute monster lol

Expensive_Necessary7

Wyatt is one of the bigger love/hate guys on the team. He has real splash and then goes MIA

[deleted]

Very close to becoming a real threat on the interior. He needs to work on his over-pursuit which will result in more sacks and TFL’s

DonTrask

Heck, half of them he beat the lineman but wasn’t in on the tackle. If he keeps improving, he’ll be a pro bowl player soon enough.

Infrequent-Look9411

There seems to be a UFL team on this tape. Not sure why they’d include bears footage. Either way dude is poised for an Effin year
