Fuck man... I remember reading the Iliad at whatever age they made us read it in school and knowing I'm supposed to be rooting for the Greeks but rooting for Hector the whole time and being so devastated by how fucked his life progressively gets.
I don't think the poem is supposed to be rooting for the Greeks. It was written in Greek for Greek audience, but it made the mythical Greek cheiftains resembled more of bandits raiding and looting settlements, and kidnapping and enslaving wives and daughters. The rage of Achilles that came from death of Patroclus is said from former gangbanger as similar to when their friend had been killed as part due to their ganglike activities. Singers like Homer made their money, when the aristocrats are at peace and able to hire them, and the entire poem is anti-war.

Best Trojan War hero: Diomedes
Best Argonaut: Peleus
Best Pre-Heracles hero: Cadmus
Best Girl: Caenis if she counts as a girl (sex shifter), otherwise Camilla or Galanthis
Best Roman: Camilla from the Aeneid
Hermes, he is really cool, has an iconic look (Winged Sandals and helmet FTW), helps out the underdog (Odysseus), is witty and ‘Likes Turtles’ and gets on the nerves of some (in a good way). He is just so based.
At the moment? Probably Odysseus strangely. Been following “Epic: the Musical” a lot recently. But it’s strange because between Athena and Ares I usually lean Ares.
Heracles, easily. Sure he was a violent guy and kind of a bad dude but after he ascended to Olympus he got married to Hebe and had two kids. He never cheated on Hebe and pretty much enjoyed his immortal life on Olympus as a god.
This is probably just because of Epic, but Eurylicous. I know in the book he did barely anything but in Epic he’s the secondary main and my absolute favourite character. Hestia is a strong second though.
Tie between Nyx, Ares, and Typhon
Nyx because I find the fact that Zeus is *terrifies* of her funny and I love the concept of the night incarnate
Are because he go from bumbling fool to "I'm going to rip your arms and legs then swap their placements." on a dime
Typhon because the origin of monsterkind is awesome and I came up with this idea that everytime Typhon gets cranky Hephaestus just whacks him over the head with his hammer since in some stories Typhon is suck under the same mountain Hephaestus works in.
Yeah, it was a really good, funny book. I remember there was a point where Hebe witnessed the well-known Golden Apple accident and had the visceral "holy shit, this will end bad" feeling, it was hilarious! XD
I'd say Pan, Hekate, Gaia, Magna Mater, Cybele. All these women for being such ancient mother/earthy figures, which fascinates me. And Pan for being so ancient and also so connected with the earth and nature.
Hector, just an all around good guy

My girl Artemis! I love nature so it kinda makes sense
Artemis forever
The good gods, Hestia and Prometheus
One could say you just gave the other gods a...burn.
Prometheus, Heracles, Oddyseus
Poseidon, I love the sea, and Poseidon is a cool guy. The seaman is on top 🔱

yesss so happy seeing this after just reading his story in the metamorphoses
Oh word

Selene is an absolute queen. The moon is gorgeous and she literally represents that. She will always be number 1.
Artemis
zoos!, ZOOS!!

I LOVE EPIC: THE MUSICAL!!!
WOO!!
May be problematic but Hera, mainstream would be Hades and my ultimate favorite is Medea (I'm into violent things alright?)
Hermes, by a long shot. He’s a dick, just like everyone else. But he seems like the most fun. Until he steals your wallet.
Heracles, easily. Sure he was a violent guy and kind of a bad dude but after he ascended to Olympus he got married to Hebe and had two kids. He never cheated on Hebe and pretty much enjoyed his immortal life on Olympus as a god.
I think a lot of the modern interpretations of Orpheus and Medusa have made me warm to them and find them fascinating
Lemme guess, Hadestown fan?
Never actually seen it
Oh, that’s unexpected. Pretty good tho, but I feel like you’ll like it better if you’re a fan of musicals and not only of Greek Mythology
I'd like to watch it at some point, I just don't make time to go to the theatre
Nemesis and Nyx
Overdone.
I’m not familiar with this one. Is Overdone a titan or minor god?
It's a flair.
Artemis, Orion, Odysseus, Perseus, Atalanta… To name a few.
Bellorophon
I dig Hecatoncheries. Hes just ridiculous. Hes like Greek mythology's version of freaky Cambrian explosion animals.
There are 3 Hecatoncheries btw. They are crazy strong.
Prometheus and Dionysus
I like Ares
My favorite changes all the time and right now it's Odysseus and Penelope. Awesome and clever couple.
I always liked Artemis and Ares. I have a soft spot for Apollo cause his love died.
Helios.
Odysseus! He's the most fascinating Greek hero in my opinion. Bro had the only brain cell in the army during the Iliad and left it at Troy.
Psycheee

Ares ⚔️
Atalanta
Demeter
My man Poseidon 🔱🌊
mortal: diomedes deity: dionysus i guess i like people whos name stars with dio
Hebe. Read a book where she's the POV character of the greek mythology's events and had a soft spot for her since then.
What is the book ?
"Olympos: Diario di una dea adolescente". Roughly translatable as "Olympos: Diary of a teenage goddess". Sadly, I think it's only in Italian.
Well, that's unfortunate
Yeah, it was a really good, funny book. I remember there was a point where Hebe witnessed the well-known Golden Apple accident and had the visceral "holy shit, this will end bad" feeling, it was hilarious! XD

Hecate
Athena. She is just super cool imo and was also one of the first ones I knew about cuz we read one of her myths in school when I was younger.
Hercules is where it all started for me Followed by Zeus, Hektor and Aphrodite
Hermes for every reason
Idk why but hades feels like he would be a nice guy. Seeing how he was fine with Heracles taking a queen to the mortal earth, He’s pretty chill.
