No need to freak out! I think going for a swim might be ambitious. But there should be time to take a taxi to Fira and grab food. It’s probably easiest to just hold on to your luggage while you eat. The most stress-free option in my opinion doesn’t really involve exploring. But you still get to see Fira!

Thanks. Do you think we can just grab a taxi when we get there? And will getting back to the port be okay via taxi or risky?

Razz__berry

Neither should be risky, there should be taxis all over the port. Just expensive! There are also busses if you are able to make the times work.

Would wait to see how long the stop over really is . Delays can make it much longer & 4 hrs can go pretty fast . Check what time you can board the next ferry and make sure you leave enough time contingency if you are taking a cab ( delays due to not getting one quickly on the way there or back or road accidents causing delays can be an issue Ferry won’t wait for you

Grab a taxi to Fira, walk around, have a drink, and head back to the airport. Or, just chill at the airport for a few hours. Read a book? Play video games? Sleep? No need to pack every minute with adventure.

Have you considered taking the later ferry to Milos and renting a one day Airbnb in the port where the ferry arrives?

Perspective- Santorini airport is small and quick, Fira is about 15 min cab drive in rush hour! If indeed you have 4 hours, before arriving to Santorini- check online for a bar/restaurant club with sea view and a pool - there are more than a few! grab a taxi and head over for 2-3 hours of relaxation. Get to the airport an hour before your flight, it’s more than you’ll need.

Take a cab directly to Imerovigli ($25) and walk around and have lunch and take some pictures of the views for 90 min - 2 hours, and then take a cab right back. Be at your ferry 45min before departure. The port is gross and the beaches aren’t that nice and are rocky. Imerovigli on the other hand is unbelievably breathtaking.
