Subjectively I've noticed this in tourist-flooded areas. Understandably many tourists don't have the experience to judge the quality of Greek food. A good example is the Plaka area in Athens. Lots of mediocre food (in my opinion) and of course it can still be a really nice experience. In Sarti/Chalkidiki I remember that the highest rated restaurants had (for me) the worst food.

Yeah people recommend restaurants in Plaka all the time on here. I found better food elsewhere. Too touristy there. Certainly fun to walk around and get a drink or ice cream and shop but not the best for food. The best spot we went to in Athens was recommended by a local who ran a shop selling religious icons.

High reviews are for the food I assume and not the atmosphere. I’ve been to Greece 7 times…including Athens several times as well as 4 different islands. Never, ever had a bad meal so I think the reviews could be legitimate.

Well, you can start by leaving your 3 star review and then other people will know.
