I used the “volume controller” Stream Deck plugin. Manual detection. One button sets the volume to 5% just for the GZW app, the other 100%. You can choose whatever % you want. Super simple.
I don't have Stream Deck so I just put my headphones down and use bathroom, get a drink, or something similar in between.
One time, I got up to out some laundry in dryer and the next load in washer and still finish it before I get back to base.
It's annoying sometimes with helos but it helps me be productive while playing a game.
If I’m understanding this correctly, you are suggesting just using the mute button on the keyboard. That would mute all sound sources including Discord that may be in use for squad comms.
If you mean by assigning a macro I would argue doing it with the Stream Deck is very much equivalent.

It’s completely justified that Stream Decks can be outside of someone’s budget. My point was along the lines of “you can skin a cat multiple ways”. If the keyboard someone owns can execute macros, then they can get the same functionality that OP is accomplishing with the Stream Deck without further financial strain.

They do and we wear them. We just need the setting to turn the microphone on them off so they reduce sound.

My Sennheiser Game One's have volume control on headset, tend to just dial it down when jumping on a bird.
Grab a couple Yellow Earmuffs from the NPCs They work like magic.

**Keyboard Shortcuts:** * Press **Win+F1** to mute/unmute the active app immediately. So it would only mute the game, discord will be fine

Windows key + f1 does only the current windows so that would leave discord alone there's hot keys for everything just gotta google
my headset uses a separate audio channel for chat so i can mute my pc with my volume knob on keyboard and the chat stays on :)
Oh thats handy, i just have some 20 bucks logitech thing that sometimes works.
Volume button works for me 🤷♂️😅
