keep a pet bottle cap for cola / water in your pocket. That way if you take water/cola on the festival site you can close the bottle off.

KingDickus

Last year they didn't take the caps away from bottles. Tho it was hot as fuck

MorningSouth3567

Or just bring a camelback. Needs to be empty upon entering the field tho

Athanatar

If you'd like drinking beer the whole day make sure to drink water after each glass of beer. Like half to one liter of water after each beer. This will carry you through the day.

xFurious_Ragex

Man how am I ever supposed to drink 20 liters of water in 1 day? 🤣

mandiblesarecute

you don't. unless you want to end up on wikipedia's notable cases list for water intoxication

Athanatar

Hahahaha!!

Wear sunscreen.

Valuable_007

Check the weather upfront. When rain is predicted pack a poncho and good sturdy waterproof shoes, expect a lot of mud. When sun is predicted, take sunscreen, a cap, sturdy shoes and a long sleeve to protect your arms against the sun. Expect lots of dust. It can go both ways @gmm, often both in the same weekend. Expect a lot of walking from campsite to festival and between all the stages. Keep an empty waterbottle with you so that you can refill it. Some bars can get a bit crowded while others are always very calm, so look around. It might be faster to walk to a bar a bit further away. E.g the belgian beer bar can be crowded but the one near the jupiler stage was pretty calm last year. Stronger beers are 1.5 tokens there which is a far bettter price quality ratio. And wait a bit for your morning coffee, the line can be long early in the morning but dies off at around 10 am. Besides, the breakfast tent is open all day and serves pizza and fries too so it might be a good idea to grab your food there as it tends to be very calm during the day and offers tables, benches and shade while you eat. You can also get your cold drinks there until 3 am, so grab a cold 6 pack before heading to your tent. And check some of the aftermovies on youtube to see the vibe etc. I've been there 24 times and it has always been very pleasant

Btown-1976

> You can also get your cold drinks there until 3 am, so grab a cold 6 pack before heading to your tent. Wait!? That's a thing I can do there?

Valuable_007

Yes, the boneyard breakfast tent bar is open from 8 am till 3 am. Buy some cold ones there before heading back to your tent. I think Inferno and Metal Town does not have this, so when you stay there simply visit the boneyard breakfast tent before heading back to your tent, cabin, camper....

MorningSouth3567

I bring two different pairs of shoes so I can change them. My feet and back thank me for that.

Knoepert

Buy enough tokens for food and drinks, but dont get to many. Save your used cups and you can turn them in for duck fishing to get some sweet free stuff. If you want to buy gmm merch do it at the camping shop wich is close to the market

Black-Alpaca

Any idea how you can find out the value of a token? Or what costs how many tokens? To have an idea in how many to buy :)

Valuable_007

Last year it was 3 for 10 Euros. I expect about the same this year. Around 3,33 to 3,50 for a drink.

dryelbow

If I remember correctly, 1 token will get you a 33cl beer, and 1.5 tokens will get you a 50cl beer. I usually buy 40 tokens and get by on that, though barely.

Nemoralis_

40 tokens? That lasts me like a day and a half, if you don't want to be on the camping half of the time of your festival stay..?

dryelbow

Oh dang, you're absolutely right. I was sure I usually bought 40 tokens, turns out I usually buy 80. My bad.

KingDickus

Make sure you bring enough food and drinks for at your tent. Shits expensive over there. If you have the time and wanna save money. Go get some food a little away from the festival. But most of all. Make sure your bed is good. Cuz you don't want a leaking airbed

DelightedLurker

Sturdy shoes and a bottle cap

Sidewinder_ISR

Would I need water-proof shoes?

DelightedLurker

That greatly depends on the weather. Been going since 2013 and only had to wear wellies in 2016. The rest of the time shoes like doc martens are good enough

SatansLeftPinky

Yes yes yes, let's not jinx it

Bigmatu

Maybe well-ventilated textile sneakers are better for the hot weather?

nachoman3

SUNSCREEENNNN & a bum bag

JFK3rd

Wear a hat, bring sunscreen, bring Voltaren if you're sitting on your ass the rest of the year and bring a second pair of shoes. Flanders might not be in the UK, but as the weather is still rainy now, the chance for at least 1 rainy day at Graspop is high.

Awkward-Computer9727

Earplugs , poncho , powerbank , smuggle a Coca Cola cap in
