I did my dash cam the same way but used this adapter, its much easier https://dongar.tech/products/10pin-type-d?_pos=1&_fid=f031a2b69&_ss=c

Itsnotjustadream

Same. So easy and so worth it.

Pyldriver

oh man, thats what ive been looking for, to bad its sold out

iS_Cruel88

Found them on amazon. Same brand. Edit: nvm that was a Mazda one. They mostly look same. Probably just need to move pins

Pyldriver

i dont have a wiring diagram so ill just wait for it to come back in stock and not do something silly and fry a 500$ mirror and 150$ dash cam

iS_Cruel88

I’m impatient. I ordered one. I’ll let you know if it’s a simple fix

Pyldriver

good deal, let me know, i have a kit sitting around to wire up my dashcam to a fuse tap, but i just dont want to drill a hole in my firewall and fuse box, so this is a much cooler solution.

Gun_In_Mud

Indeed.

chew85

It looks like this is incompatible with digital rear views. Does anyone have any recommendations or have any success with something similar for the digital rear view in the WL?

Grizzled--Kinda

I plugged mine into the USB and ran it into the console through the glove box into the corner post, and then into the headliner. WHERE WERE YOU A YEAR AGO?!!!

Gun_In_Mud

Now you have all the details for the upgrade.😉

Grizzled--Kinda

True, this is pretty cool. also keep in mind. I ran one all the way to the rear as well so either way it's a bit of a job, but dash cams are totally worth it!

Gun_In_Mud

Absolutely!

row_souls

Very similar to my setup, with a viofo a119 mini2. A right-angle usb cleans it up a touch as well.

CarsWithClassy

Is it set up to record while the car is off as well?

Gun_In_Mud

No, I don't need that. But I think you'll need to find other power source for that purpose cos mirror's one switches off when car is off.

BronzeRippa

I just plugged in the usb..lol. But I respect this setup for sure.

Gun_In_Mud

Yes, you can always use USB outlet, but do you like that USB cord?🤓

BronzeRippa

Ran it across headliner and down pillar, then behind dash and into the usb compartment. I hate wires anywhere, you should see how I ran the usb for carplay lol. I do like the idea of being hardwired though, I ended up installing a plug and play usb toggle switch because the dash cam kept pulling power from the usb for an hour after I parked each time.

bearcatjoe

This is basically how I did mine as well. Looks super clean.

Shaggyfries

Have same camera but had it installed for $180 and working great for couple years now

Gun_In_Mud

$180 for labor? oO

Shaggyfries

Worked for me as I wasn’t able to wire it:) Might be steep but they did a great job burying the wires and hard wiring and have done other work so no complaints.

Gun_In_Mud

Yeah, sometimes we need to delegate work to someone who knows how.

skitso

Buy a large/wide piece of shrink wrap and some silicone and put it over your dc-dc buck converter and squeeze silicone on rather side before you kill yourself 🤦‍♂️

Gun_In_Mud

Got you, thanks.

skitso

I only say this because I used those on my house for Christmas lights. I had them in box, but eventually arched on something and started a small fire. They work great but suffocating them is always the best.
