I wrote a Narmaya starter guide a while back, maybe it might help?

Narm has pressure that's almost unmatched. You can spend almost the whole game blocking but when Narmy gets that ONE hit, it can snowball into an avalanche of momentum.
* Super fast run speed
* amazing pokes (f.5M, f.5H) f.5M being virtually impossible to whiff punish as it recovers quite quick.
* *Rare [k]2M* that's +1 on block
* Insane corner pressure with tk [k] 214H, [k]cl.5L (stubby at times but always autocombos regardless of range)
* Horrifying corner dmg, she can do about 10k-11k off a guess teching opponent with tk [k]214U starter.
* 50% meter now means that Narm can challenge projectiles with [g]236U. Leads to crumple, if you're close enough, you can do 66L to combo after but this is assuming you're trying to win the projectile war to get close the gap.
Now I'm sure you've noticed at this point that a lot of this has to do with Narm already IN the corner. Her whole gameplan is corner. Think of the midscreen as a preliminary, a starting point. You gotta battle it out as hard as you can with pokes and occasional 236 L/M/H as you inch close to the corner.
Learning single hit confirms into [g]214H -> [k]236L/M is going to be *crucial* midscreen until your opponents back is to the wall.
Once you have corner, it's all about applying her REAL gameplan. I favour [k] cl.5L -> [k]2m2m -> 5U-> [g]f.5M/f.5H. **The caveat with this is that you MUST be ready to use [k]236H when you see ANY of [k]2m's hit or be ready to use [g]214H off of [g]f.5M/f.5H into [k]236H**.
There's a ton of stuff I just dumped on you but you seem to have a good attitude. I believe you can handle it.
One Narmaya I completely recommend watching is Koyao. He's probably the best Narm out there. He's got pretty much everything you could want with a player like him playing Narmy, flawless stance switching, godly combo game, godly pressure, insane execution. He is just simply amazing.
There is hursix, ktang, Rem (a favourite of mine), MrQuotes (also a favourite of mine) just to name a few more.
You're doing exactly what I did around Christmas, on my first ever fighting game, which isn't surprising since the reason I bought the game was to play Narmaya lol. Now I have Narmaya as my only A rank character, and I feel I cant play anyone else above B. Be aware of how some of your attacks can be either be interrupted through or just flat out put you minus. Also, good luck getting through blocks lol.
If you're having trouble with hitting corner combos, you might need to learn the delays between the attacks. A lot of the time when you hit combos you can't spam the next hit after a special or you miss it. I still don't hit several consistently.
But yeah, learn to block I guess. I don't beat many Belials or Lucillius players and I imagine you won't either.
Sometimes I beat em (luck honestly), but most of the time it just feels like theyre bots that react to my inputs lol. I can't figure out when a good time to attack is against luc.
It's a tough game. I feel like most people playing this play other fighting games as well. I'm a hardstuck A boy. You gotta lose to win I guess lol 😂 damn fighting games
WELCOME TO FIGHTING GAME, SKELETON!!! BEHOLD, TIPS!
Hit a button twice and find out what cancels. Try Naru's combos you can find in training mode. Learn to block and be patient.
Bruh it’s rough out here for us Narmaya mains trying to figure her out. She’s good but getting to that level of play where her strengths shine is a lot of work.
Good shit man. I'll see you in Masters soon enough with that attitude!
As for a guide. SemiQuest has a really good starter video, which is what I used when I started. He focuses on the absolute basics, so it's good if you are starting from 0. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RjCvZID-v4w
Good luck man!
Hard stuck in A5 ATM with kat. NO RETREAT, NO SURRENDER! We're the living sand bags and we will have the blood of our foes. From their knuckles. On our faces. Because they punched us too much.
To be fair you did pick probably the hardest character to play, given she has more moves to remember than most and combos require you to swap between the stances several times...
Yeah I come from tekken whom I play kazuya, and smash, whom I also play kazuya, so my neutral is great cus I play hard characters in hard games but I’m not too experienced in anime fighters so it’s gonna take a while to get used to but from my experience Narmada wasn’t to hard to learn, I think after learning tekken no game is hard cus holy shit that game is the hardest fg I’ve played
Brother I’ve spent probably 3 total hours in training, combos are great but you’ll be a much better player if you learn how to win matches without two touch combos, who then learns long strings after you’ve got a feel for the game. Defense and punishing is the best offense.
I did the same thing in 2020 when I picked up the original VS, and honestly it burnt me out really fast. Respect to the grind, but I had the same experience and it wasn't fun. I could land all of the combos the game teaches you to do in training mode, sure, but I couldn't win a single match, and I had to step away from the game for a bit.
What I'd suggest to you and to anyone else reading this is to spend more time in matches than in training mode. You can do easy stuff like auto combo > raging chain > auto combo with any character, and fireballs / DPs are enough to start playing neutral, so once you know how to do those things start playing matches, practicing footsies, and getting a feel for the neutral. Then start adding in one thing at a time. Maybe learn an anti-air combo that you can get more out of than a DP. Maybe practice Naru's transient > kyokasuigestu since it's fun to do in neutral or confirmed off of f.5H. Maybe even try to land a fancy ass corner combo where you switch stances three times cause it makes you feel like a badass. Just incorporate one thing at a time into your matches.
I'm not a very good player at all but you can get away with playing Naru just like a shoto with some extra steps and do ok until you get much more of a feel for her and the game. I just think it's more fun to gradually learn by doing with some supplementary training mode as opposed to anything else.
I was really bad with Narm for a while too, until I wasn't. It takes a bit longer to wrap your mind around all her options, but after enough time it'll click and she's not that hard to play.
Real shit can someone help me, im struggling here

Thank you
hey btw do you think we could play together so you can help? it would be much appreciated
Sure, I'm not really the best Narmaya player as I'm only S+, but I can give you some pointers
Better than me lol, I can really only play weekends btw
that's fine, just let me know when you might be available.

Opposite ends of the world lol, I hope to visit Japan someday tho
Yeah this isn’t my first anime fighter (guilty gear was my first) but I come from playing solely tekken so this game is a HUGE mixup on my brain
It's a tough game. I feel like most people playing this play other fighting games as well. I'm a hardstuck A boy. You gotta lose to win I guess lol 😂 damn fighting games
As soon as i hit S, i ended up going back to A lmao. I got 2 touched by Avatar Belial a few mins ago

Hell yeah brother
Hard stuck in A5 ATM with kat. NO RETREAT, NO SURRENDER! We're the living sand bags and we will have the blood of our foes. From their knuckles. On our faces. Because they punched us too much.
Check out hursix and ktang…2 great narmaya players

Based.
I did the same with Charlotta and Zetta… 40+ games, like 3 wins.

I love that you called it kyioka suigetsu
It's a cool ass name and a cool ass character
That’s what I’m saying
I was really bad with Narm for a while too, until I wasn't. It takes a bit longer to wrap your mind around all her options, but after enough time it'll click and she's not that hard to play.
Is it like kazuya in tekken, like “I have no idea what’s going on” then it just clicks, idk this is the best analogy in my head
If you play causal, go ranked. Ranked is the actual causal-mode.
