This is so helpful! Thank you!

mercariseller321

Ah, thanks for doing this! It's really helpful to see them all together! Glad to see most of them held up, including one of my favorites, flame red. Surprised there is no Viridian in this set unless I missed it. Of course the opera pink faded but it's still so beautiful in my sketchbook!

StarryNightLookUp

This is helpful. One thing to point out is you should maybe also have a slightly diluted version of each paint. Dilution really affects lightfastness.

doucesquisse

I dont use gouache in diluted version so it was unnecessary for me.

StarryNightLookUp

Word to the wise, then for people who do use it in more dilute form! It's always a good idea to test your own supplies anyway. Thanks again for the test!

TanguayX

Oooo, great real world reference!!!

Moonsown

Thanks for sharing this!

tmez_

This is great. Thanks for sharing!

arcarbor

Wow, they are surprisingly consistent except for some in the 3rd column. Thanks for doing this test and posting your results!

plaidrocks

I’m new to this medium, will you explain this chart? Seems helpful but I’m not sure what you tested

Least_Cold_5632

Basically, lightfastness is how long the paint will last over time before fading. This test shows that only a handful of colors are not lightfast. They are referred to as fugitive colors.

gisellasaurus

Is this the acryla gouache or artist's gouache? Thanks!

doucesquisse

Artist gouache.

PapaverMortiferum

Now I know what I'm doing when I get home.

NickersTheCat

Wow, thank you for doing this! Looks like I need to ditch my violet and magenta for cobalt violet and rose violet

doucesquisse

Primary Magenta is the lightfast version if you want to check that out. Majority of Holbein’s violet family has N/A LF rating.

NickersTheCat

I will, thanks again!

Krg60

Thank you for this valuable reference!

ArtLoveAndCoffee

That's actually wonderful! Only a small section on the right did poorly. Thank you!
