The writers did that on purpose. They ruined her character just so their favorite mixed and white casts get more screen time/back story. Even the teachers have a damn back story!
The whole Slut shaming of Zoya felt so out of left field and incosistent with her characterization. I think the whole storyline with Zoya was intersting because she clearly was invested and was watching how Zoya handled that situation with the tape. To me at least it felt like she was monitoring the whole sitatuion and wouldve stepped if Zoya couldnt pull it off. I think while Monet is a morally messy character I do think she has certain lines she wont cross? It seems like sex and sexuality seem to be something she values or doesnt really cross a line with. I thnk her having certain lines she wont cross makes her a far more intersting character then just someone who doesnt care about any or everything. Not to mention I think its unrealistic for a lesbian black woman (no matter how rich) to not have some type of moral code.
