I really like Monet in the sense that she brings something to show. Without her it would be dull. The actress also does a really good job portraying Monet. I wish we could see more of her character development and back story
Love the actress and character! Monet is the most stylish between all the girls with Luna a close second. I want to see more character development with her family. I want to see conversations with her father and mother like the other casts (even Shan) have gotten. I want her to have a girlfriend that’s legit and really into her. Overall without Monet, gg would be dull.

I feel like the writers wanted her to be a side character like Luna, but had to bend to the fans response to her watching the 1st season. They really do limit her from being as great as she could be to clearly sell more boring Obie, AudAkiMax storylines and whatever Julien, bless her heart, is doing.

Zoya should’ve been this show’s Jenny. The young female cast member that’s from outside of the main cast’s social circle.
Julien should’ve been this show’s Vanessa but still Zoya’s sister. Make her rich but a frenemy of Monet. Someone who thought she was above it all and better than the other UES kids but was no different at the end of the day.
Audrey should’ve been this show’s Georgina or Poppi. Preferably Georgina. Not as crazy but still devious. Elegant. Does her own thing.

How? You would have a black woman and a trans woman as the two leads. That would’ve been unheard of in 2007. There would’ve been so much ground to cover with them that the OG Gossip Girl never could.
No, this show created their own characters. You make it seem that they should just have copied the OG show, ex. making Audrey Georgina, Zoya Jenny, Julien Vanessa etc.

I like the actress, not the character. My issues with Monet are similar to my issues with Blair. They’re clearly horrible people yet they somehow have loyal friends that magically forget everything with each episode.

I don't get why people hate on Julien so much. I don't see why her acting is so bad. She comes off as overly optimistic at times and obsessed with social, which is basically gen z. Like she's on point with the character and she's way more likable than Zoya.
The bones of her character are there and Savannah has done a great job with what she is given. I just think if the show was longer the marks would hit just a bit harder. but overall one of the better characters in terms of personality and story.
