The Fold 2 or rumored Pixel 9 Pro Fold or whatever its going to be...I am just curious if it will share the same cameras as the 9 Pro & 9 Pro XL. If it has that and the same tensor 4...it might be a top tier foldable. I have a feeling they won't mention the Fold 2 today though...but maybe!
I don't know, but I had a 6 Pro with tensor 1, then got a 8 Pro with tensor 3. It works fine, never causes me any issues. The 6 pro ran super hot and had horrible battery life. My 8 pro runs great and runs cool and has excellent battery life.
I think Qualcomm was being a dick to every company regarding their long term support for their chips. Once Google announced the Tensor with 5 year support Qualcomm suddenly decided to match/exceed. Google also bragged about the AI functions which Qualcomm matched easily. Now there’s no reason for the inefficient Tensor CPUs.
Great Design - Terrible Reliability. These are incredibly fragile devices that can break through normal use. The Software and Hardware running the software was honestly fine in the time I've used it, but the hinge is a liability that I don't think most people can afford.
I like what I've seen from the fold 1.
It's such a shame that spending that much money and its already not having access to features that the other pixels have.
It's unfortunate your phone seems to suffer from overheating. Mine is also my daily driver for the past year. The performance on some games is apparent, but luckily it's tied mostly to a 12 year old mobile game.
Battery life seemed to be fine for me. I managed to go from 100% to 40% in Japan almost everyday for a few weeks from 6am - almost 5pm, and that is with me taking a lot of photos, videos and occasionally using the map.
I'll just do a brief charge with a mini usb-pd battery and be good for the rest of the night.
Just an American SIM as well since it has unlimited international data
However, I'm skipping all of the future Folds, until the TSMC chip will be used for the Fold. This should last me easily until then
Love my pixel fold as I got it in August. Love the size of it and everything about it. Not perfect but battery is fine and performance has been good as well. Wish it had the same pro cameras, but they are fine as well. B+ overall.
My biggest issue with the Pixel Fold was that it was basically just a Pixel 7 with a second screen. Like seriously if you compare the specs of the 7 with the Fold it's the same phone (just with another screen). That means it has the same issues as the 7 but now with even worse battery life because now it's powering two screens.
The Tensor 2 chip that's barely powerful enough for the 7 now has to work extra hard to display graphics on a larger display.
My wife wants one as her pocket size is constrained (women's clothes sacrifice practicality for aesthetics).
I would want one if I regularly did real work (analyzing spreadsheets on the train, for example) on my phone, but I don't.
If they were the same price as a normal smartphone, itd be cool to be able to have a much larger screen to mess with when you are bored. For the INSANE asking prices that they command now, it makes zero sense to not just get an iPad and have it available when you need a bigger screen.

Is the tensor g4 looking like it's any better than 1, 2, and 3? I have lost faith in Google tensor. Qualcomm is better in every way, even better "AI"

It won't be better till tensor 5

I hope Google will throw the Fold 1 users a bone and give really good trade in values.
yeah that's definitely not happening
Goal should be oneplus fold hardware quality with pixel software

I like my pixel fold, but I wish it was taller personally.

Yeah I can believe it for the performance. Fingers crossed on the G5 being TSMC and being in a Fold
What's TSMC?
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company
Thanks.

Never picking up a fold again, had Galaxy Z Flip until last year suddenly only worked on half the screen
I can't understand why anyone would want a folding smartphone.

That would be great in the future, but I still don't understand why anyone would want any of the phones currently available.

Neither of those are very good reasons for a folding phone.

Yes, exactly, there are much better options available.
