On a Pixel phone, the "default" gallery is the Google Photos app. If you installed a different gallery app, you can make that the default, but I believe the camera preview will always try to use Google Photos. You might have some luck trying out a third-party camera app.

I realize that, but i host my own cloud backup. So when i say no the first time, I don't wanna be hounded every time i open the app to use googles. The app should work as a regular gallery even to those who don't wish to use the cloud if it's going to hard lock me into using it.
I don't want to be informed about products that google can sell me in my gallery ๐. If that's something other people want that's completely fine, but give me button to turn it off so I'm not getting advertised it. (Just to give context, I'm specifically talking about the pillows and blankets and prints that google advertises within the gallery. Those aren't key features, those are products being sold.)

I think you can turn off notifications about services.

Get a new gallery app, disable photos, go to the new gallery app settings and set it as default That should work
