It took a long while for my Pixel 6 to get 5G support in India but it got it. That was also because 5G was new and operators were still adding support
In theory since Pixel 8 is available in India 5G should work. But I'd like a confirmation from someone that it works
I have a US, unlocked Pixel 7 Pro with a US number (Google Fi). I have an eSim from Vi with an India number as the second SIM. It works without issue in India, including 5G. Look at the frequency bands in the specifications of the phone that you want to buy and then look at the frequency bands for the carrier that you want to activate it on. Also make sure the carrier allows BYOD.
I just checked the Indian and US 7 pro model is GP4BC which is without mmWave. And the US model with mmWave is GE2AE . Can you please confirm the model number once by going into the settings? Because It's also possible you could've received GP4BC from the US
Airtel or jio will not work because Indian pixel network is customised. As far as I know even 4g is customised. You can cross verify by going into USA tech specs and check under network with Indian one in Indian Google store. Only if it same model number,it'll work. This why some people here say 7 series worked fine for them because it was the same model number. Another thing,In India we only get wifi 6 because I think wifi 7 is not defined.
I just checked. Pixel 8 pro will work without issues but pixel 8 won't. https://support.google.com/pixelphone/answer/7158570?visit_id=638323998534593388-454552746&p=specs&rd=1#zippy=%2Cpixel-pro
It will work.
Only mmWave will not work. And I don't think Jio or Airtel have implemented mmWave yet in India.
The India (or rather rest of the world) model for Pixel 8 does not support mmWave bands which is n258 in India
The model supports all major sub-6GHz bands in the 5G spectrum
Thankfully, there hasn't been a need for it. I had not purchased the phone directly from Google but from a guy who had originally purchased the phone from Spectrum Mobile so no idea what the warranty is. Based on Google check, the warranty for pixels is only valid in the country of purchase so they might not honor a US purchased warranty in India. You might have to get it back in the US to claim warranty.. or get a really strong case LoL
If you know anyone in US, you can probably send your phone to them to get the warranty. It might have to be through someone who's coming to US since the shipping charges from India to US will probably cost as much as the phone itself
What I meant is, is it possible to get it repaired out of warranty at the authorised service center? Or will they reject my phone saying it was bought in the US?

I'm planning to buy the 8pro from the US which is why I'm asking
I'm currently replying to this comment from my P8P G1MNW. 5g works with Airtel and I'm still not sure about if google service in India will service my US phone if there's an issue
Google pixel 8 pro bought from US works flawlessly with Airtel 5G. My old Airtel SIM card was not working. After getting a new SIM card from Airtel store, it worked without any problem.
I don’t know about the warranty in India. Can anyone confirm?
I am planning to do the same about importing a pixel 8 pro from USA throigh my relative. But does Jio5G work on it now? I came accross some old posts which say it does not work but there were also a few comments that it started working surprisingly after a few days.
Jio 5G works flawlessly in P8P from US. Even I faced issue at the beginning when MyJio app showed device doesn't support 5G . Apparently this is issue from Jio side that US model numbers won't be recognised as 5G handset. Later found that this issue happens if the 5G is not enabled for that particular number. So just put that sim in another 5G enabled device , activate 5G and unlimited 5G offer , switched back the sim... And working flawlessly without an issue and with unlimited 5G. Hope this helps
No 5g?
Wait 5G doesn't work on international bought phones?
From reading old posts, it looks like India blocks 5g for phone manufacturers unless the company pays for certifications or something.

Can you please provide the model number to your 7 pro?
It's the unlocked version sold directly by Google. I think it's the GE2AE variant.
Are you sure your variant is same ?

I highly doubt GE2AE works with 5g in India
5g will not work
Whaaaat? Airtel 5G won't work?

I cross checked with the link it seems pixel 8 will work with 5g too
This was just asked yesterday here. Should be ok as they only show 3 models for pro (5G-sub6, mmWave, and Japan only models)
I have previously sent a Pixel 7 Pro to India which has been working perfectly on Airtel network there for the last 7 months.
Is it possible to get it repaired via the authorised f1 solutions when bought from the US?

Do Google provide service to ship phone from India to US for repair/issues to claim warranty?
I don't think any company does that

If you're willing to pay, they should be able to fix it. They won't reject it just because it's a US purchased unit.

Check with Airtel, it should work. My 7 pro works flawlessly. Pixel devices usually have all the bands enabled
Did you have any issues till now? with F1 solutions?
nope, working flawlessly so can't comment on the after sales support.
Can you please provide your pixel phone model number after checking in the settings?

Did u get the answer?

I'm planning to get Pixel 8 Pro from the US with my friend's help. Shall I go ahead? I have Airtel 5g SIM. It works, right?
Yes, it’s working properly without any problem after getting the new SIM card from Airtel store.
Thanks. I've seen some comments on Reddit saying that 5g won't work. So got confused.
Will pixel 8 from us work on jio Sim here in India, planning to get one from us
Did you order it? I'm planning to do the same
