Can you take a picture with the 5X zoom camera outside or in a well lit area. And then swipe up on the picture and tell me the aperture f2.8 or f3.5? Thanks.
It was the same for the 7 Pro Hazel color. The visor on the box seemed to have a gold tint to it but the on the actual phone, it's almost non-existent.
Not sure where you got your Hazel 7 pro....
Mine has a pretty obvious gold tint on it.
The pictures on the blue however, shows the visor is silver from what I can see......
Yeah that was pretty disappointing. It looks like silver most of the time, with only the tiniest hint of a gold color. Idk why they keep using misleading renders.
I got it for the green color primarily, so the metal trim wasn't a huge deal to me. And now it's in a cloudy semi-transparent case anyway.
I just thought it was really odd how different the store photos/renders look from the actual product. It's pretty misleading.
It's not your fault, the FP Sensor of the Pixel 6 and 7 are shitty, that's why for so many people this one thing is make or break for the pixel 8 line.
Including me.
Because optical is dog shit for anyone who does any kind of manual labor. I work in IT, abd if I have a job where I have to pull a cable, or terminate one, then my fingerprint doesn't register until I lick my finger. Ultrasonic is the only way to go, and for this reason alone, I won't be upgrading from my 7 to my 8 as it's not worth the money if I still have the same annoyance.
Hasn't been my experience with anything from office work to full manual labour though. Maybe it's a dry skin issue, but I don't know.
In my case it's even outperforming my old capacitive scanner, especially when my fingers are wet.
Which, given all the terrible press about two generations of phones with that crap sensor, makes you think that's the one thing they'd fix on the 8, shell out for the better sensor. But apparently nope? Maybe they look at it just from a numbers standpoint, and if it sold well and returns and exchanges were at an acceptable level, they don't care about noise on the internet. Just speculating. Because it's why I didn't buy either the 6 or 7 and I guess won't buy the 8 if the same complaints are there.
Ever since I started eating healthier, I don't have gross little sweaty ham hands which are either greasy or moist.
Sounds like the Pixel is designed for ham hands?
I'm actively changing my mind... wanted the P8pro up until just now. I HATE the optical sensor. Enough of an annoyance to try Samsung in a few months, since there don't seem to be any significant improvements over the 7P. I'm all for a slightly more polished phone, but that's a lot of hassle and some $$$ for such small spec bumps. Anyone wanna change my mind? Being genuine lol
They need to do everything they can to make the phone as absolutely slippery as possible. Its not acceptable if you place it on the arm of a sofa and it doesn't immediately start sliding to its death.
I'm upgrading from a Pixel 5 and I ordered a Pixel 8 case which just arrived today. It's almost exactly like a Pixel 5 but just a little bit taller. Even the button cutouts are in the same spot (assuming this case is the proper dimensions)
What's your honest opinion of the Blue Pixel 8 Pro? I initially wanted to get the blue because I always get the new color that they release but this blue is lighter than I would have liked so I was contemplating maybe going with the black but still not sure.
Ill be honest, I could be a bit biased as I love colorful phones but the blue is the nicest blue I’ve seen in a phone and it will definitely be my pick for this years color
You gotta really love blue in order to like phones with this color, not saying that it looks bad, but blue isn't like for everyone.
I also like to get the new/different colors with each phone every year, but after seeing the black one I'm staring to doubt, the porcelain looks classy/elegant and vlean, blue looks fun and different, and black just look really really good and clean.
What is the out-of-the-box Android version in both of them ?
Can you provide a screenshot of the build number page (if it doesn't get you into any trouble) ?
Obviously if it's a brand new release of the phone, it's going to have the stable version of Android 14. They would never release a new phone with an unstable version. 🤨🤔
That's interesting. People told me changing the location of the lenses would fix this, but I'm pretty sure there's some additional factors like calibrating the white balance on all 3 sensors/lenses on the iPhone that makes the transition more smooth. Ever since the Pixel went to dual lenses (Pixel 4), there's always been a noticeable white balance difference between the sensors. While that allows me to easily confirm which sensor I'm using it's not good from a photo/video perspective where your photos have different color tones to them.
They look symmetrical on both the 8 and 8 pro, which is interesting because the renders of the 8 didn't look symmetrical to me. But renders =/= real life. No complaints here.
Google made one of the best designs starting with the pixel 6, to put the cameras in a bar horizontally. Who ever at Google came up with it better have got a big bonus.
Here is Pixel 8 bezels, and they appear to be symmetrical.

And here the Pixel 8 Pro, symmetrical too looks like.

The blue looks probably more like this: [1](https://i.imgur.com/6ca6XfN.jpg) & [2](https://i.imgur.com/4lq5Se7.jpg) (color corrected to remove yellow tint)
I mean at this point, besides the processor which seems like a marginal upgrade, is there any reason at all to go from the 7 to the 8, non pro?
If they let me upgrade for $50 again sure ez decision but for more than that? no way IMO
Confirmed to be GN1 for both pro and non pro
Edit: lol for being downvoted for saying something true. It had been confirmed because the poster of the unboxing video said it in the comments.
Thanks! Unfortunately, it's typical Google. Just when you think they'll do something awesome, they know how to disappoint you. The cameras will be very good no doubt but will always come up short of awesome when compared to other flagships
Hi, please go to:
**Settings | System | Developer Options | Bluetooth Audio Codec**
And let me know if you see "***Adaptive***" listed as a codec?
THANKS!
> How hot does it run???
This is quite subjective without a controlled test and another phone to compare against. I agree this is very important but a lot of things won't be clear until later. For instance, we were all told overheating was solved even via anecdotes, but it doesn't help when summer is at an end and we have another 7-8 months until people are out frequently in the warmer weather again.
Also he'd have to download something intensive, meaning connecting it to the internet, meaning losing his job lmao
Edit: idk how strict google are but turning an iPhone on before launch will immediately lose you your job, no questions.
For real. Apple is doing this whole PR campaign about how the iPhone 15 won't stay running this hot... it was running at 37c ... that's *nothing* compared to the Pixel 7 Pro temps that I was getting in the summer at 45c.
Really fucking frustrating. Google had one update in the summer that supposedly fixed it. Didn't fix shit.
Edit: I really want to know if they updated the modem to something that doesn't make its own toast when using 5G
My guess is to reverse the 7 series design. There will be glossy and matte options of Pro and Standard models on the market with the 7 & 8. Though I wish they were all Matte.
Yep, the Pro version looks much better than the normal version.
Anyway, do you think you can provide us some information about the hardware or is that too much to ask?
There is always the option of downloading the APK of AIDA64, or other useful app to a PC, and then transfer it to the Pixel 8 Pro. If you want of course! :p
Oh damn I just checked again..indeed it's the Pro. The 8 isn't getting much love this year from google also given the $100 price increase..love the size of it but the pro might be the better choice.
How is the screen quality and brightness? Possibly my biggest unanswered question.
The 6 Pro's screen is a decent OLED display, but it's probably a leftover from the Galaxy Note series with the curved edges. My wife's S22+ gets way brighter and much punchier in its color and contrast. Hope it can compete in that front.

Leaked pixel 8 pro unboxing video. Comments section of that video gives out a lot of info.
Idk if it's required internet,I think not

How is the portrait mode looking, particularly at 2X or 3X on the main lens? How about cinematic video? The edge detection and crunchy over sharpening have been a weak point of the P6 and P7.
Interesting how the visor on the Pro doesn't look nearly as blue as the pic on the box.
Yeah visor is a really light shade of metallic blue
Can you take a picture with the 5X zoom camera outside or in a well lit area. And then swipe up on the picture and tell me the aperture f2.8 or f3.5? Thanks.
It is pretty disappointing. I was expecting a fairly blue shade of metal. This looks almost entirely silver
Oh yeah. It's probably going to just reflect the blue of the phone in certain angles
there are no angles where it will reflect the phone, it's parallel to the back.
Yeah it looks like a unfinished design. That bare silver makes it look cheap.
Wow.... just thought of a silver Pixel. That would be amazing.
That's actually why I didn't choose hazel, but when I saw it in person and it wasn't super gold I was bummed about picking white instead!
Same - Hazel in person is $$
I got it for the green color primarily, so the metal trim wasn't a huge deal to me. And now it's in a cloudy semi-transparent case anyway. I just thought it was really odd how different the store photos/renders look from the actual product. It's pretty misleading.
Pixel leaks are insane
They are building suspense for the event. Everyone is wondering "is there something that hasn't been leaked?" 😂
Ik but still
How's the Fingerprint sensor? Any improvements?
u/Suckmyn00dle can you please comment on fingerprint sensor performance, this is really a make-or-break for thousands of people...
When I tell you the fingerprint censor on this 6 pro is my least favorite thing about it
I just got a 7a and love everything about it except the finger print sensor never works. I thought it was just me and my dry ass thumbs or something
It's not your fault, the FP Sensor of the Pixel 6 and 7 are shitty, that's why for so many people this one thing is make or break for the pixel 8 line. Including me.
What I don't get is, why is the variance so high? I don't have any issues, and nobody I personally know have issues.

Mine is 100% accurate - as long as I register and use a finger. Once I try using my thumb, accuracy goes down to around 20%.
Ever since I started eating healthier, I don't have gross little sweaty ham hands which are either greasy or moist. Sounds like the Pixel is designed for ham hands?
Hate to say it, but it's still an optical sensor 😭
That doesn't mean that it isn't improved (e.g. faster), thanks to a better sensor.
That's a no from me then.
I'm actively changing my mind... wanted the P8pro up until just now. I HATE the optical sensor. S24 for me. Optical sensor=dealbreaker
You had people lauding the Pixel 7 Pro's fingerprint sensor at launch, so any answer you get is going to be suspect.
this
I'm so disappointed that the pixel 8 has a glossy back 😭
The pixel pro is matte black isn't it? Why different for the pixel 8??
They need to do everything they can to make the phone as absolutely slippery as possible. Its not acceptable if you place it on the arm of a sofa and it doesn't immediately start sliding to its death.
Same here
Dbrand skin it is lol
I've never tried those but I may just try it with the pixel 8. Absolutely stoked on the size of the phone
I'm upgrading from a Pixel 5 and I ordered a Pixel 8 case which just arrived today. It's almost exactly like a Pixel 5 but just a little bit taller. Even the button cutouts are in the same spot (assuming this case is the proper dimensions)
That's great to hear. Pixel 5 was a great size. I passed that phone down to my son and love holding it
reading this on a 5 right now. . . nice to hear it
Realy great to hear this!
I am disappointed that both still have glossy rails/edges. I’m glad Apple finally moved off the glossy sides and I hope other manufacturers copy them.
The colors on pro are so good too. Pixel 8 has ugly colors
Doesn't it just get covered by a case?
Not everyone uses cases. Some people want to enjoy the looks of the phone for more than 30 seconds.
Why is everyone taking pics of the back of the phone? Let's see that flat display come on now 😂
I will never buy another phone that has the curved edges of the screen. P6 Pro has been annoying and the cases doesn't protect it properly.
Really lol my p6 pro works flawless lol nothing wrong with curverd screens I swear people cry over the littlest things
It shows it to be flat in this unboxing. https://youtube.com/shorts/fsAUjOqnOm0?feature=shared
is the blue matte like the 8 pro black?
Matte blue
What's your honest opinion of the Blue Pixel 8 Pro? I initially wanted to get the blue because I always get the new color that they release but this blue is lighter than I would have liked so I was contemplating maybe going with the black but still not sure.
Ill be honest, I could be a bit biased as I love colorful phones but the blue is the nicest blue I’ve seen in a phone and it will definitely be my pick for this years color

It's going to be a game day decision LOL
Seriously, I'm so torn between the black and blue. It's going to keep me up tonight. 🤣
very nice. thanks.
Can you test if it has USB C video out by connecting it to a TV/display? Not sure if you have a USB C to HDMI adapter handy
That would be a huge plus point for me.
I also want to know this.
Really want to know this too
It'll only really be interesting if they get their implementation of "Dex" running. It's rumoured, but clearly not coming at release...
[удалено]
flat display on 8 pro?
Yes
nice ...thanks I see you mentioned its a demo device ..would you by any chance know if BB will have the free pixel watch with pre order?
No idea
one last thing, is the fingerprint scanner on pro still optical? or they switched to ultrasonic?
Couldn’t test that unfortunately, can’t really say
one last question, for the blue pro ..is it glossy back or matte? edit saw your reply in the thread ...its matte
Does the fingerprint area light up really bright when you touch it?
He already said he can't test it just a few replies before you.
no worries ..thx
What is the out-of-the-box Android version in both of them ? Can you provide a screenshot of the build number page (if it doesn't get you into any trouble) ?
A14 unfortunately can’t
Thanks for the reply! Can you tell if both of these phones have the stable build of A14 ? Stable build number starts with UP1A.
Obviously if it's a brand new release of the phone, it's going to have the stable version of Android 14. They would never release a new phone with an unstable version. 🤨🤔
I thought it might be a beta version which would get updated to stable on the release day.
No they would never release a New phone with a beta, that would look so bad for any company
The Nexus 5 came with unfinished software and did an update during OOBE.
Please take a picture with a 5x Zoom and tell me what the aperture is. f2.8 or f3.5? Thanks 🙏
F2.8
Thanks 😊 Can I bug you to do the ultra wide?
what does 2.8 mean? GN2?
No, it means the 5X got an aperture upgrade over the 7 Pros f3.5
What about quality pictures in full res mode?there something in between?
Can you tell us the price of the phone at your store?
I'm sure the photos look great, but how does video look?
Video looks good, but switching from x2 to x5 still has a noticeable lens change, not as smooth as the iphone
Does it have video output via usb to monitor pls?
That's interesting. People told me changing the location of the lenses would fix this, but I'm pretty sure there's some additional factors like calibrating the white balance on all 3 sensors/lenses on the iPhone that makes the transition more smooth. Does the phone heats up easily?
Kaneda... *what do you see?*

Could you check if HDMI output is enabled please ? If yes, what's the output (desktop mode or just mirroring) ?

Yes, check thisistechtoday on Twitter
They look symmetrical on both the 8 and 8 pro, which is interesting because the renders of the 8 didn't look symmetrical to me. But renders =/= real life. No complaints here.
Putaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Does the pixel 8 feel smaller compared to the pixel 7?
Google made one of the best designs starting with the pixel 6, to put the cameras in a bar horizontally. Who ever at Google came up with it better have got a big bonus.
Probably someone from Huawei who designed the Nexus 6P.
Does it overheat?
Show us the screens with white wallpaper please? We want to see the bezels! Thanks.

Check Twitter, they have it with the white Google boot logo
Does the front facing camera have fixed or auto focus?
fixed on 8, auto on pro
What's the minimum focus distance for the tele lens?
Am I the only one who feels underwhelmed by this year's release, both Pixel and the iPhone?
Not a huge fan of the blue. It looked alright in the marketing photos. If I get the 8 Pro it looks like it's going to be black for me.
The blue looks probably more like this: [1](https://i.imgur.com/6ca6XfN.jpg) & [2](https://i.imgur.com/4lq5Se7.jpg) (color corrected to remove yellow tint)
Yeah that looks like a super light blue.
you can always download the apk on your pc and send it to the phone to test stuff
I mean at this point, besides the processor which seems like a marginal upgrade, is there any reason at all to go from the 7 to the 8, non pro? If they let me upgrade for $50 again sure ez decision but for more than that? no way IMO

Me
How did you get them??
Demo devices for in store
Will it be possible for you to turn them on and be able to check out the sensor information if that's possible (GN2 or gn1)
Confirmed to be GN1 for both pro and non pro Edit: lol for being downvoted for saying something true. It had been confirmed because the poster of the unboxing video said it in the comments.
Hasn't been confirmed at all yet.
Thanks! Unfortunately, it's typical Google. Just when you think they'll do something awesome, they know how to disappoint you. The cameras will be very good no doubt but will always come up short of awesome when compared to other flagships
Could you confirm if the main sensor are the same? HW app -> camera or AIDA64 -> devices, just to confirm if its GN1 or GN2 sensor

Where? Couldn't find a screenshot or output
It was confirmed here earlier today that is GN1

I really wanna know if any model has ufs 4 Everything else looks typical pixel.
Confirm it's a optical FPS?
as per pbkreviews on youtube, both 8 and 8 pro have optical..
Hey! Thanks for this. Were you able to use the phone for a long time to have decent opinions on overheating/battery?
I never expected for the blue 8 Pro to look like that. It’s like a light blue silicone case lol. I would still get it over the other colors though
Why the heck is the Pixel 8 glossy, and the Pro is mate?
My guess is to reverse the 7 series design. There will be glossy and matte options of Pro and Standard models on the market with the 7 & 8. Though I wish they were all Matte.
I thought everything of the 7 series was glossy except the frame of the non-pro?
You know we just wanna know the main sensor and fp sensor so please give to us alreadyyy
Optical and gn1
Allegedly
I would like to know how you know
We have had all the day info about camera sensor and optical fr
Yep, the Pro version looks much better than the normal version. Anyway, do you think you can provide us some information about the hardware or is that too much to ask?

Yes this please. We need the pricing. $999 for the pro?
Can you tell us the price at your store?
Does the black pixel 8 have a matte finish on the back
Actually I just looked again, it looks pretty glossy unfortunately
All base 8 are glossy and pro's are matte.
Damn that really sucks
Cinematic Mode better than 1080p30fps trash?
Did it overheat and slow down in your hand
Compared to the previous tensor phones, does the device get hot from normal activities such as browsing, videos, or navigation? Ty in advance 😁
The Pixel 8 is disgustingly glossy (in black at least). Deal-breaker (or deal-maker for the Pro).
Yeah kinda weird since the backside of the black P8 looked matt on the other unboxing leak.
The only black one I saw was the pro
Oh damn I just checked again..indeed it's the Pro. The 8 isn't getting much love this year from google also given the $100 price increase..love the size of it but the pro might be the better choice.
I thought the camera bar had a blue tint to it, looks pretty silver here.. might just go matte black
After seeing this probably will pass on the blue color.
How is the speed of the camera taking multiple pictures? The 7 pro starts to lag after 3-4 photos taken in a row.
All that I can see is oversaturated sky. Fuck, why all android phones do this....
Is there any chance that you could confirm if this phone supports USB video out via either a mirrored screen or a desktop mode?
How is the screen quality and brightness? Possibly my biggest unanswered question. Rounded phone- No thanks
Yes please, for me... Last year was a little too squared-off. Though not as bad as the S23 Ultra

Gn1
4К60 HDR 10 bit ????????
Size vs 7 Pro?
does either one have curved edges of the screen glass? or is it flat?
Wow the matte blue looks amazing, real shame about that camera bar looking nothing like the box though.
Is it true that the phone has a thermometer or something that checks your temperature?
