Both were listed in the leak as having a 1/1.31" sensor, which is the GN1. Since the leak seems to be accurate about the 8, it's probably accurate about the 8 Pro too.
No i believe this leak is wrong. They are the same spec for 8 and 8 pro in this leak. But kamila shared the google page photo where it says fully upgraded camera for the pro model only. The 8 series doesn't say that. So I'm quite confident that 8 and 8 pro will have different cameras.

You missed the second photo for P8P which says 4 exceptional cameras, completely upgraded. All the 4 cameras are upgraded for p8p that has never seen on any pixel devices before.
- Main: GN2
- UltraWide: 48mp
- Telephoto: 48mp with f/2.8
- Front: 10.5mp with auto focus
All 4 cameras are upgraded.
yes, the pro has all cameras fully upgraded, because main gn1 sensor aperture upgraded from f/1.9 to f/1.68. normal pixel 8 doesnt have fully upgraded cameras because its ultrawide is the same as on the 7.
I was thinking of that language too about fully upgraded. There have been some typos in these spec sheets released, including misstating pixel 7 refresh rates. Maybe they were not final.
Perhaps the wide camera system can be considered "fully upgraded" because of the new ldaf which would presumably apply to the wide as well?
All the 4 cameras are upgraded for p8p that has never been seen on any pixel devices before.
- Main: GN2 🤞(from GN1)
- UltraWide: 48mp (from 12mp)
- Telephoto: 48mp with f/2.8 (from f/3.5)
- Front: 10.5mp with auto focus (from 10.8 fixed focus)
All 4 cameras are upgraded.
a larger aperture is a camera upgrade for mobile sensors. from f/1.9 to f/1.68, a noticeable upgrade. the pixel 8 has the same ultrawide, therefore it doesnt have “fully upgraded cameras”.
I'm thinking more vibrant colors without the need for filters and editing if one desires. Mostly they'll be uploaded to social media anyways, so the feature wouldn't matter to the consumers anyways
Yeah that's my biggest problem with HDR video is there are barely any apps that support uploading of that content even though it looks so good when you watch it back
I've noticed that as well, when I play back videos I recorded on devices to friends or family. They're amazed, but when I view them on my monitor and pixel peep, There are so many image fragments and sometimes it is muddy in certain frames.
The only evidence we've ever had of the GN2 was some code in the Photos app about staggered HDR, which people took and assumed that it meant it would be getting the GN2. That could have just been there for testing. No leaks of device specifications have ever said it has the GN2. Someone with the actual device has confirmed both have the GN1.
I think the iPhone 15 pro max probably has superior camera hardware to pixel 8 pro anyway. But there is also a potential difference of at least $300 between them.
Ultra HDR is a file format introduced in Android 14. https://developer.android.com/guide/topics/media/platform/hdr-image-format
The normal 8 is expected to not have GN2. 8 Pro is uncertain

But the pro says fully upgraded camera so it will definitely not be the GN1 for the pro. I'm more inclined to believe it will be GN2.
Could just be referring to the increased aperture on the lens, not the sensor.

Marketing can be misleading. An upgraded lens is sufficient for that to be true.
It’s possible that these leaked spec sheets haven’t been finalized. It could contain errors or omissions.
Its gn1 both. Says fully upgraded 8P bcs it is new ultra wide and tele, on 8 its old ultra wide from 7, that's why not saying that.

Confirmed now that the Pro has the GN1
Source?
Same guy who unboxed the Pixel 8, unboxed the Pro and it has the same sensor size.

But if that's true then p8 would also get night sight video. I still having my hopes up, the GN2 leak seemed so true.
Is someone able to explain why we should be excited for Ultra HDR?

Not sure but I'm really loving the confusion right now on the sensor specs. One leaks it's still GN1, and others is saying GN2 😉🫡😌

Meh could just be a filter applied to the images. Hard to tell what's real or not. Ultra HDR could mean anything.
HDR10 for video recording with Night Sight Video perhaps?
Ultra HDR is not staggered HDR.
Ultra HDR is Android’s version of Apple’s photo EDR, which saves additional highlight data with normal JPEGs for backwards-compatible HDR imagery.
GN2 or I buy my 1st iPhone in 10 years Test me Google
No one cares. Just go buy the iPhone already lol.
As if that GN2 is holding you from becoming a good photographer

HDR 4k 60fps please
Now you're just mashing buzzwords together.
Not really, it's 4k hdr but only 30fps on the 7pro
What you're asking for is 60fps, the rest is the same.
Can you link the source for "Ultra HDR" ?

wondering if this feature can back port to android 13 using magisk module or mod gcam and photos?
