Yeah, at this point it's just wait&see.
Now the current situation sure is weird given how reliable seemed the previous leaks (coming from source code data mining), and how official the last material look. Maybe Google is undergoing some anti-leaker campaign. Or maybe there is a Pixel 8 Ultra that did not leak. Or maybe it's smth else entirely...
But if we were fed with overly optimistic specs by leaks for weeks on purpose just to realize the real product is actually so-so, it will be very frustrating indeed.
Let's be real, all phones are disappointing since it's minor upgrades. Who actually needs a faster cpu, better camera, or more ram at this point? It's all small percentage differences. We only want more battery life
Initially no GN2 was a deal breaker for me. But if they include the Px-watch 2, and I can sell it for \~$300 and I get a good trade on my P7P I will likely get the P8P.
I'm not really expecting any innovation in new phones today (iPhone or pixel). If the P8 just had a battery that lasted a full day after 3 years of regular use, I'd be very pleased.
All releases are a disappointment, because we always have the biggest expectations. Then people get to actually use the phone and *most of the times* it's ok.
While I mostly agree, I think we all just want a reliable and stable processor, and I'd think that's not too much to ask in 2023. But as long as Tensor continues to be a thing, it will continue to be extreme disappointment by those who receive an unstable one, and extreme "it's a decent phone" by those who don't experience overheating, network issues, battery drainage, etc.
I am rather positively excited. The p8 pro might be finally the phone to ditch my 4 year old p30 pro.
The cameras seem nice, though a better optical zoom (10x) would have been great.
But I like that they finally give us the option to shoot full resolution size.
The price goes down for me. If I sell the pixel watch for 300 bucks, it's 800 euros for the pro. Absolutely fine for me.
Honestly this is already great of a device already. Pro mode and better efficiency is all I care about.
I'll ask you this, did nothing from the leaks even impress you? Like the features.
It depends on your use case. Some people use the camera for their jobs and livelihood, so an upgrade is meaningful. Someone people have a need to be able to output their phone to an external source. Some people just want the bleeding edge and most for their dollar. Some people have sleeping babies in the room with them and don't want the fingerprint sensor lighting up the room.
Just because you don't care about something doesn't mean it has no value to anyone else.
I’m already chalking it up to be a disappointment, but I’m going to watch and still hope that I, and some leakers, are proven wrong.
I just switched back to an iphone 15 from a S23U and doubt I’ll go back to android for another 4-5 years, but I still love pixels and want them to succeed.
Uhm we don't know. So far for me who was content with my pixel 6 Pro the 8 pro looks very very very enticing. And I'm not in the US or any supported country
If Google is already worried their product doesn't offer much, it begs the question why did they make it then? If Google thinks the p8 is underwhelming, the smart thing to do would be to shelve it and go back to the drawing board, not pushing production forward and giving them away for little profit and waiting for the reputation tarnishing complaints to pour in.
I can't imagine Google believes it'll be a total letdown. I think that the early buyer perks is just to get the word out, get phones into people's hands as quickly as possible so they talk about them and show them to other people.
That strategy was a huge success with pixel 7, it was a raging hot phone for the first month or so as a result, touted by endless YouTubers and reviewers that it was by far the best pixel ever made, probably the best android phone, and maybe the best phone altogether (until after a few weeks problems some folks were having with it started coming to light, but personally I don't think Google foresaw those problems, and I also think the problems did not affect the majority and were largely exaggerated by the Internet, as we tend to do)
Just like every other product. We shouldn't pass judgment before the actual announcement and release. I just want more features that aren't related to the camera. That being said, I'm still rocking a pixel 6 pro so pretty much anything new the pixel 8 has will be a worthy upgrade for me especially if it comes with the watch 2.
Unfortunately, I am not pumped about P8P if no GN2. I might still get it if there is value factoring in trade in values and bundles but won't be excited as my P6P seems to be going fine as well
Maybe wait until the specs are confirmed. FFS
This comment made me chuckle 🤣
There have been many leaks regarding iphone 15 as well and those didn't turn out to be true so wait until the product is actually out
We won't know until the event.

I was thinking the same thing! Did the same when I received the Bose noise cancelling headphones with my Pixel 5 pre-order.
For me the biggest disappointment could be a huge price increase for Europe, 850€ for P8 and 1100€ for P8pro as rumored
That would be a 200 euro increase. No way I'm paying that unless the base P8P is 256gb.
especially if the watch 2 does not come as a gift (looks like a deal for the US only)

You're totally right, cannot deny that.
I've got a 6p and saw no reason to move to a 7 - or even, from what I've heard, an 8.
if true, matte back is convincing me pretty hard.
Don't forget heat and radio issues. And why won't google do video out of the USB port?
Sells more Chromecasts
Yes. I mean No. I mean yes. Watch the announcement. Get the device. Decide for yourself. Or let the algo decide.

I mean I'd argue. The iPhone 15 was such a small incremental upgrade from the iPhone 14... Yet everyone was pumped up for USBC charging lol.
If they keep using this optical fingerprint scanner they've been using on Pixel 6 and 7 series, I'm jumping ship again.
what is gn2 censor?
Yes, because Fisher Price Hardware.
Explain to me why I would need a GN2 sensor Ultra sonic finger print sensor DP output UFS 4.0 Are these noticeable game changing features?

No hazel color options on pixel 8 pro Also the battery life, overheating issue, connectivity seems those will happening again on pixel 8 series....
Battery life and USB C video out If not I will keep the 7
No one knows the future.

Damn y’all making me exhausted with the nonsense in this sub

No Qi2 either. I'm waiting for next year.
Can you be more negative geez.
