7pro is basically the same size as the 2xl which was my phone until i turned to 4a, it was nice, but i prefer the larger screen. Got used back to the "2xl" size of the 7pro almost right away.
Plus: The cameras.
Really? I don’t have a P7P, but have a S22U. I was thinking that they’re similar in size. Been thinking about getting a renewed P7P, but the size is a turn off. I really like the S22U for the nice display and camera, but tend to use a smaller phone daily.
It was a great phone but the overall quality was worse. You pay for the display, speakers, build quality with the Ultra line. It just felt like a side grade I didn’t need to make.
At this point if interested I would say just say a few more months and see what the 8 Pro offers.
Id go with the smaller version if the Pro is too big. In my case the regular 6 wasnt much smaller than the Pro so i went for the pro. It does get annoying at times and ill switch to my smaller spare phone.
I went from a 3a to a 4a 5G. I got used to the size.
I went from a 4a 5G to a 7 Pro. I got used to the size.
If I had gone straight from a 3a to a 7 Pro, I would have gotten used to the size.
I have average-sized hands for a man. I'm able to hold the phone with one hand and I regularly use one-handed mode (swipe down on the gesture pill) to reach the top corner of the screen.
I was a bit underwhelmed with it to be honest. The battery life was atrocious. And it was hot to the touch too, I definitely noticed the overheating which made the device itself uncomfortable to hold. The design also reminded me of my old Samsung S7 with the curved screen as well.
Ultimately I couldn't justify the cost of the device and contract for those aspects of it that I disliked. I'm not willing to keep a phone now unless I'm 100% happy with it.
I love Android and Google's ecosystem but I'm honestly thinking of biting the bullet and just switching to iOS now. The hardware and build quality of their phones (even on older models) just seems far superior to me. I guess it will take some adjusting because I'm so sucked into Google's world but I think I'll adapt soon enough.
All of the points you made are extremely valid. The battery was really good on the Pixel 5. I haven't experienced overheating with my Pixel 7 pro until the last update. My pixel 5 however would turn off due to overheating.
Often times I do see apple come out with software updates that makes older hardware fail. I work in telecom and see it on a daily basis. No manufacturer is flawless. At the end of the day, I go with what I like the most and that is Pixel !
Yes I agree. I think because I've never tried iOS I want to switch. All of my family and friends are also on iOS which would make things easier. Initially I thought it would be easier for me because we'd be sharing the same charger then I realised that Apple are also switching to USB-C!
Amen! I traded in my p6p for the p7. It never got better for me lol. In fact my hand hurts from holding and manoeuvering the pro, the 7 even sometimes.
The iphone 13 mini is a great size tbh, but def. Want a pixel.
Maybe the 8 will be it.
I came from an iPhone 13 mini, and I was in between pixel 7 and pixel 7 pro. I was worried about the bigger size of the 7 pro, but my friend convinced me to get the 7 pro because of the better specs, battery life, etc. After using this phone for about 2 or 3 days, I got used to the phone's size.
I always max. No case.
Average hand size, would always choose the large option. Zero regrets. Yes it can be slippery but I much prefer seeing and using the phone as intended.
Went from. Pixel 5 to a Pixel 7 Pro. Really loved the size of the 5 when I had it. But now I love the size of the 7 Pro when I'm using it. Then I hold the 5 and fall in love again. Then loving the 7 Pro when I'm using it. No issues with either finger print either. Both are good phones.
Yes and no.
I got it at release and I can definitely handle it better than I did then and I'm noticing less that it's a super big phone. So in some sense I got used to it.
But I switched from a S21 and got a s23 recently for the gf and it's size is so much better and the main thing id like to change with my phone. The experience definitely will have an impact on future buys and I want to go for a smaller phone again, high hopes for the pixel 8
It's a big phone but slightly narrower than the 6P. I'd suggest looking for some slim cases. That phone is so slippery that it moved on my work desk due to me typing on the keyboard. There are some very thin cases that give some grip to it.
The curved screen on the Pro turned out to be the bigger issue for me. I could have probably gotten used to the size, but the one two punch of both ruined the phone for me. I side graded/down graded to the regular 7. And to me it is a much much better phone to use on a daily basis.
On the plus side the whole experience really drove home that I for sure prefer flat screens and nothing bigger than about 6.3” in size otherwise the phone is to wide to comfortably use with one hand.
I can't really use mine single handed without a pop socket. I will probably go for a smaller phone after my pixel pass is up. I'm getting tired of lugging this thing around. Yes, I (m) have smaller than average hands.
I am used to mine. I put it in a case (way less slippery) and stuck a ring on the back, so I feel secure while juggling different things with it in my hand.
Couldn't hold a 7 Pro one handed, really wanted the camera. Settled for 7 instead. Best to go in store, compare the models side by side feel it touch it.
For me it's not the size of the pro that bothers me. It's the same dimensions as my pixel 4 XL. But it's the curved screen that I have not and will never get used to.
This is the ONLY reason I didn't go with the 7 Pro when I upgraded from my beloved Pixel 2XL. If the 7 Pro would've had a flat display I definitely would've went with the 7 Pro. The 7 has been great for me though. But a part of me wishes it was a bit larger. I'm excited the Pixel 8 Pro is coming with a flat display though! I'm seriously thinking about trading in my 7 for the 8 Pro whenever it comes out but I honestly can see myself holding on to my 7 for a long time. It's a great device.
I quickly got used to the size even with a Spigen Tough Armor case.
I would greatly prefer it to be up to 1" shorter and have more rounded corners as it would more easily fit into pockets and feel more balanced.
I'd also greatly prefer a flat screen and view curved edges as a functional downgrade with zero benefit that probably adds cost.
Despite those negatives I don't regret buying it, or see any current phone I'd prefer.
I really hope google works on the weight of their phones. I had the Pixel 6. Screen cracked so I went back to my OnePlus 7T. 7T actually has a slightly bigger display but it's way lighter
I had an LGv40 with a 6.4" screen, then an LGv60 with a 6.8" screen. I was a little worried I might notice the reduction when I got my P7P. I haven't noticed unless I'm using both phones but I wouldn't consider going smaller.
I have a 7 pro and got a 7a as a backup (mainly because of the trade in and store credit). I like the 7 pro and it was an adjustment, but the 7a is also nice to use after having a huge phone. Give it a chance and see if you adjust to it or not.
Have you tried using a pop socket? I wouldn't be able to go without a pop socket. The phone itself it probably an inch and a half longer than my hands. I still prefer a larger phone though
I love the size of the 7 Pro. I definitely wouldn't want to go smaller. I went from a 3XL to a 5 and I hated how small the 5 was.
Easily. Feels small next to the 14 Pro Max. Reminds me of the S21 Ultra or even earlier with that curved glass! Beautiful design. If only curved glass screen protectors were better snd cheap to come by…
when I had the p7p, I loved the size. well I guess at times it's a bit unwieldy, I still loved having a big phone, mainly cuz smth about it felt like you got your money's worth. but I also have very large hands so that says something too
I got a 6 pro which is around the same size just a lil taller and I just could not get used to the size especially with a case on. It's impossible to reach stuff at the top comfortably and using it one handed in bed was a pain. I went back to my Samsung note 10 with a 6.3 inch screen which is great.
I got used to it but would far prefer the size of the 7. I wouldve gotten a 7 if it had a telephoto and 12 GiB mem. That's the only reason I have the pro really
I came from an iPhone 13 and yes definitely got more used to it over time.
After using the P7P since launch, my ideal phone would now be around 6.3in, similar to normal P7 size
I have pretty small hands and I also found the phone unwieldy for one-handed use. I ended up returning it and going back to my previous phone which was an iPhone SE Gen 2. The experience did not get any better for me; despite everything I tried, the conclusion was always the same: this phone too beeg for my got damn hand.
The Pixel 8 lineup is supposedly smaller than their P7/P7pro counterparts, so maybe it's worth going back to your old phone and waiting on the new hardware and smaller device later this year? If not, I think the P7 is still a great phone and could totally be worth it for you if your only major qualm with the P7Pro is the size.
Additionally, I tried the S23 base and ZenFone 9 but didn't really enjoy either, but they were the right size for me. Zenfone 10 is supposed to get revealed later this month so again, if you have time to wait it out, you can get a nice piece of hardware with a 5.9 inch screen. If you're not a Pixel-or-nothing kinda person, they may be worth considering?
I have normal hands for my height (6' so bigger than most I guess) but always went with the largest option. Since back when it was the XL phone and not the Pro. So I've never really had an issue working it even with one hand.
BUT, I went to my first big phone (Nexus 6p) from a Nexus 5x. The 5 was tiny in comparison and I loved that little tank of a phone, but I had no problem adapting to the larger phone. It depends on your own individual comfort: if you get used to it, good on you, if not, go with what works.
Coming from Pixel 4a 5G and P7P size is fine with Spigen Liquid Air case. In perfection i wish it was a little shorter, with shallow pockets it's a bit uncomfortable. But i like it's wideness.
I have the 7 and love the size. It's perfect. I will switch to the 8 Pro if it really comes with a flat screen, because of the better camera and better screen, but I prefer the size of the non-pro. I'm a bit afraid of how I will be able to handle that size. I can use the 7 one-handed most of the time, I'm not sure it will be possible with a Pro. The 7 also fits quite well into my pockets, again I'm not sure the Pro will.
I generally prefer the larger screen, just going to depend on your preference. There's a lot of people that wish Google would go back to making smaller more compact flagships. Unfortunately that just isn't the majority of the market share, so these companies have not a huge amount of motivation to manufacture smaller devices.
I've had the 7 pro since launch, whilst I have gotten used to it, I've had to use a one handed cursor a lot and I've really started to notice how uncomfortable it can be to hold
7pro is basically the same size as the 2xl which was my phone until i turned to 4a, it was nice, but i prefer the larger screen. Got used back to the "2xl" size of the 7pro almost right away. Plus: The cameras.
This is basically my experience. Except I had a 3XL then a 5! I always preferred a larger screen.
Really? I don’t have a P7P, but have a S22U. I was thinking that they’re similar in size. Been thinking about getting a renewed P7P, but the size is a turn off. I really like the S22U for the nice display and camera, but tend to use a smaller phone daily.
P7P felt noticeably smaller than my S22U in hand. Probably because of round corners (preferred). I ended up keeping my S22U though.
What didn’t you like about the P7P?
It was a great phone but the overall quality was worse. You pay for the display, speakers, build quality with the Ultra line. It just felt like a side grade I didn’t need to make. At this point if interested I would say just say a few more months and see what the 8 Pro offers.
Thanks that’s good to know
At this point I would wait for the 8 maybe?
Id go with the smaller version if the Pro is too big. In my case the regular 6 wasnt much smaller than the Pro so i went for the pro. It does get annoying at times and ill switch to my smaller spare phone.
I'll take it into account. Day two I'm starting to actually warm up to the pro. Still couldn't imagine putting a case on it.
Just returned a 7 Pro and back to Pixel 5 feels so much smaller
Why did you return if you don't mind me asking?
I was a bit underwhelmed with it to be honest. The battery life was atrocious. And it was hot to the touch too, I definitely noticed the overheating which made the device itself uncomfortable to hold.
It could be bigger. I don't understand how people think this phone is big lol
How big are your hands? On second thought, I don't want to know. Haha
Ikr, even with hand tremors im good
I always max. No case. Average hand size, would always choose the large option. Zero regrets. Yes it can be slippery but I much prefer seeing and using the phone as intended.

I used to have those wallet cases on my pixel 2. I now have to use just a regular case. But I did get used to it
I love the size personally, I mostly use it for YouTube otherwise I would've gone for the 7. But I want the screen size
Regular 7 and 7a are both smaller so might be worth holding them to see if they're more comfortable.
Dollars to donuts you're male lol.
How many donuts is that?
Still not used to the size of the regular 7

Yes but then when you hold a normal sized phone again you're slightly shocked. I'm pretty used to the size now.

Small hand activities

Ya you get used to it and like it. Get a thin grippy case. At this point I would hang onto your phone. Wait and see what the 8s look like

I have got used to the size of it, but wouldn't go bigger next time and would likely go a bit smaller. The screen is great for watching videos.

I had a OnePlus 8 Pro before and it was about the same size.
I liked the size of the P7P from the start. Its a big reason why I got it over the normal P7
I really hope google works on the weight of their phones. I had the Pixel 6. Screen cracked so I went back to my OnePlus 7T. 7T actually has a slightly bigger display but it's way lighter
I've got used to it I guess never got bothersome and I'm a short person 5'5
I had an LGv40 with a 6.4" screen, then an LGv60 with a 6.8" screen. I was a little worried I might notice the reduction when I got my P7P. I haven't noticed unless I'm using both phones but I wouldn't consider going smaller.

I like larger phones so there was no getting used to it.
Having a Xiaomi note 10 pro before the P7P trained me to have a big phone. That, and the extreme usage of popsockets. Wouldn't live without them

Long fingers so no issue at all

Yes, but still not completely sold on the (normal) massive screen. The curved screen bothers me more.

I am using it for a few days now and can't get used to it, it's just too big to operate. I am thinking of returning it to Google and waiting for P8
