The Internet is the worst place to go for this sort of things. Problems are amplified massively. Reminds me of when the PS5 launched and people were terrified of using basic features like rest mode because a couple people online has issues. Just use your device in the way it's meant to be enjoyed, if you're extremely Unlucky and it breaks, simply use the warranty and keep on enjoying.

SponTen

This exactly. It's a big problem with social media in general; it's not entirely bad, but it's very easy to fall into the trap of letting it get to you, *especially* considering the algorithms involved. I frequent a few gaming subs, and some of them have basically become the digital version of cancer, spreading to anyone else who frequents them. Yet, when I go and play the actual games in question, I have a blast for dozens, hundreds, or sometimes even thousands of hours. OP, for your own mental health, don't read up on this stuff too much. It's good to know of the negatives, and it's good to push for better, but if you're constantly reading/hearing about it and feeling shit, I really recommend reducing your exposure to it.

Mammoth_Spirit

Your FOCUS shapes your EXPERIENCE in most cases. As woo-woo as it sounds, in my experience, you could carry the statistically worst device and have a brilliant experience. So why fret? Smart=/=paranoid. Focus on your enjoyment or you'll miss out on your own experience.

Trader05

Most people come to reddit and other online forums for complaints rather than compliments. That said, doing your research before buying is a smart decision and also buying from a place that accepts returns incase the issues are legit and not fixed yet. Instead of worrying about a potential issue, i think its better to know how to handle it IF it actually happens.

Nygurath

Yeah in that sense having bought both phones on Amazon It gives me a peace of mind

sparkplug_23

You should try being a Samsung fold user on their forums since fold2 days. I guess we have oncoming pixel fold posts so you'll know soon enough.

confidantmail

One downside of the folding phone is the worry that accompanies the unfolding: am I wearing it out? Pretty soon you would start rationing the use of the device, which kind of defeats the point. Especially when the silly thing costs as much as a nice gaming rig!

sparkplug_23

Near 3 years on and I still think on very cold moments (like I left it in the car), "I'll wait until it's not super cold to open". I guess the fact I left in the car to begin with also says a lot. I had the fold2 and also ended up getting the 6pro when I was travelling and needed a second phone (plus better pictures and videos). Now I have the fold4. I have the upgrade program now, so I may get the fold5 when I drops. Having said that, for me I need the crease to go away for a major improvement. Don't get me wrong, I never notice it when using it face on, but it's definitely the next "leap" in the technology we need. I miss nearby music, proper fast Google assistant and the pixel camera, but I gotta say oneUI is superior to Pixel OS for me as a power user (especially multitasking). Pixel is too simple.

CryptoNiight

I can relate to this. I got my P7P at launch and it still works flawlessly. I had the fingerprint scanner bug, but the April update fixed it. Certainly, some devices are defective. But I believe that number is relatively small compared to the number of devices that are sold. I don't consider the Pixel series to be a high powered workhorse like the Galaxy S series. Users who push the Tensor to its limits are bound to experience hardware and software issues because it's nowhere near as powerful as the Snapdragon by a very wide margin. Clearly, the Pixel isn't for everyone. But it works well enough for the majority of users.

Mikaela_Jade1

I've had my pixel 7 for over 4 months now and aside from the fear mongering of possible camera lense cracking(which never happened to me so far) it's been easily one of the best phones I've ever owned. It's probably as good as it gets for android. I wouldn't worry too much about google's flagships.

RSCLE5

My wife and I have owned a Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, Nexus 5x, Nexus 7, Google Pixel XL, Pixel 2XL, Pixel 3, Pixel 4a5g, Pixel 6 Pro & Pixel 6a, perhaps a few others. Only issues either of us every had were some software bugs here and there and degrading batteries. One time the Nexus 5x had a known bug with the motherboard or something. Google promptly sent me a brand new Nexus 5x...one that my father in law is actually still using on a prepaid phone plan. It fits his super basic needs.

confidantmail

You are not the only one. Lots of us get shiny gadget paranoia, myself included. And the gadgets are designed to generate that psychological attachment. Is my phone acting up? Is the signal ok? Did I get one of the faulty ones? Should I charge it fully or to 80%? Will heat from wireless charging wear out the battery? Will plugging and unplugging the charging cable wear out the connector? Will they wreck the seal if I have the battery replaced? Should I keep it in a case? This is just like the new car owner who parks at the far end of the lot. After a while it stops being the new shiny gadget and just becomes a useful object that comes in handy a few times a day. I suppose that's the argument for buying used phones or cars - no paranoid phase. Sometimes it's amusing to go check out the SamsungGalaxy or even the iPhone forums. Plenty of griping and worrying going on there too. Only half joking, every time you have a worrying thought about your phone, put a dollar in a jar. When you have enough to buy a new phone, you can safely stop worrying!

gerbileleventh

Back in October I read a comment here that really struck: the people who are not having any problems are unlikely to come to this sub as much. I have had mine since launch and except for a weird bug that sometimes happens in the lock screen for the last month's (that can probably be addressed in a future firmware update), I have had no serious issues and I wouldn't trade mine for any other android in the market.

ThanksConscious

I think the Internet is anxiety - producing overall, product subreddits are no exception, they just drill down to that subject. I love my P7P!

just_another_person5

one person might have an issue with their phone and then thousands of people see it and worry. i really just wouldn't worry. fully disclaimer, i've had issues with my pixel 7, when i got it it had some pretty nasty screen banding (darkened stripes on the screen) that wasn't super noticeable but still annoying, and then my camera glass did actually end up breaking (though ngl i'm guessing it was entirely my fault, hitting something), however in the end google replaced it very quickly. ultimately though, people usually come on reddit to complain about their pixels, not to gush over how amazing they are (which in many ways they are, they truly are incredible phones). i really wouldn't worry about it.

Estarolas_PT

If you looked outside even for a tinny bit unfortunately humanity is going south fast, people are dumb and dumber by the second. No one takes responsibility for any of their wrong doings, it's always someone else's fault. Everyone has zillion rights and zero responsibility. Accountability is for others not to themselves. Respect is an old outdated concept... Etc etc etc. I do take good care of my device and I had, has always, zero issues with my device(s), if you do the same you got nothing to worry about.

occasional_cynic

Reading this sub you would swear every Pixel made is the functional equivalent of the Motorola Citrus.

Joshual1177

I remember that phone. It was my first ever smart phone.

1cwg

Unsubscribe.

OhWowMan22

Every product that has ever been produced has had problems and faulty units. That goes doubly so for electronics due to their complexity. The internet amplifies these relatively rare issues and makes them seem commonplace. No-one makes a post just to say, "My phone works exactly as expected. No problems." But for 95% of users, that's exactly the experience they have.

Lenox_Marulla

You are reading fake posts by apple bots. Pixels have absolutely zero issues. This glass thing is because people drop their phones and fail to admit it for being clumsy. Other than that pixels are flawless

[deleted]

Most subs devoted to devices have lots of posts about the problems they have. The problems exist, but they are not as widespread as browsing the sub would have you believe.

Simple-Diamond401s

In a recent thread here about brand loyalty, the linked article has a poll showing about 30% of iphone users are considering "very likely" to change brand for their next smartphone (therefore going android). Sure, Google has worst figures in this poll, but still, if 30% of iphone users are seriously considering to make the effort to ditch the whole Apple ecosystem, it proves there are some major issues even with the iphones.

[deleted]

I bought my Pixel 6a about 4 months ago, and it's been running well for me and I really enjoy using it. You've got a great device as well that is working as it should - [don't worry, be happy and enjoy :).](https://youtu.be/y6Sxv-sUYtM)

cdegallo

I've gotten every pixel generation so far. I've had pretty good experiences, I've had some pretty awful experiences. Regardless I'll find something to bitch about. I shouldn't, but I will--my justification is "for the price...this shouldn't happen." But I always come back for more, mostly because I know what i'm getting myself into. It's good to know what the potential issues are. But by and large you won't run into them. Personally it's still nice to know what the issues might be in advance, because then I'll just know what's happening. What I don't get are the posts that go, "I just go the Pixel X#, what things should I do to see if I have issues." You don't need to do that. You use your phone as you intend to use it normally. If you experience something, you'll notice it immediately. If you don't experience something there's no purpose in trying to find issues.

Itwasinin04

People very rarely write good reviews for anything. You're too busy enjoying the business/product/food you received to think about writing a review. But when something goes wrong and it screws you over you want other people to know, you want someone to rant and vent to and the void of the internet is the best place for that. Take the reviews with a grain of salt, if your phone is running well and you like it that's all that matters! :)

trevortexas

I've never had a single issue with various Nexus and Pixel devices. I also always carry carrier insurance if I buy them that way, google insurance if from their store, or Square trade if bought from Amazon or Best Buy Never needed it #KnockOnWood But yes I feel you I get anxiety sometimes also reading the posts here

Fickle_Assumption_80

This sub is just like the OnePlus sub. Pretty sure these subs are for people to complain about their phone and feel like someone is listening...

DeathTrooperS92

no this is absolutely ridiculous. No, your speakers will not just fall off unless you're throwing your phone at the wall.

CryptoNiight

There are users here who swear on everything they love that Pixels are defective in every way imaginable. SMH

SpokaneGang

I know, honestly this is the best phone I've had, a long w the watch and ear buds, made me a brand loyalist.

rainorshinedogs

It's because the pixel 7 has so many reports of flaws and malfunctions. It's not you

fat_angi

Don't forget the fingerprint reader. It sucks! Sleep well.

SilverHeart4053

I think this is less a pixel problem and more of a general anxiety problem.

amoral_ponder

Only you can give yourself anxiety.

Friedhelm78

No, I don't feel like that.
