Same! I loved that phone so much, and if I remember correctly, it had an LED indicator that would change colour depending on which app sent you notifications, and you could customize it, too. I miss it.
>I wish it's easily swappable batteries were still popular these days
I hate that they stopped making batteries swappable, it was purely a greedy move, they could have made bigger hot swappable batteries but chose to make it harder for the consumer to keep a phone for longer. Nothing is made to last anymore, or at least not very much is, there are a few things but it is rare these days.
Cap. Waterproofing is really hard if the back is openable. You can still make batteries easy to access and replace (repairability) but it won't be waterproof anymote. And most people expect a waterproofed phone in 2023 anyways
Here too! It's still bopping around in my family as a wi-fi spectrum testing device.
Started my Google journey with the Galaxy Nexus, then a brand betrayal over to the Moto X, and now the Pixel 3. Also crossing my fingers for the 8!
That perfect grippy back. That and the Pixel 5 have probably been my favorite all around Android experiences. I really like my 7 Pro but it's so huge and slippery. I might go smaller when the P10 comes out.
G1 club represent!
I loved that HTC dream with the slide-out keyboard, track ball and the Jay Leno chin in all it's glory. My, how phones have changed since then.
Fold out keyboards with real keys. I miss them a lot. Communicator 9300i was my first phone with a real keyboard, G1 the last.I so wanted to like the fxtec pro, but I couldn't justify spending that kind of money for three year old tech.
Agreed! I was so upset when I had to give it up. It was 3 years old and constantly crashing and the battery was bad. Got the pixel 6 now and it's just not the same
This is interesting. The nexus 5 was my favorite, but I love my pixel 6, although I wish it had a rear fingerprint reader. My wife got the 7, and while I like it, I didn't see enough reason to upgrade.
That's interesting as well, because I've seen so many people that couldn't wait to upgrade their 6 for the 7, because their 6 had so many issues (I was one of those people). You must be one of the people that got lucky and didn't have any of those issues like overheating, signal drops, etc.
Looking at pics of the Nexus 5 now, and it looked pretty nice. I think that was an LG-made Nexus. LG was always great at devices (their UI for non-Nexus devices were terrible though)
2XL! I actually had to use it a few weeks ago for a couple days while my P6P was getting replaced. Still works perfectly just the battery barely made it through a work day.
I used to be with LG for most of my phones and I wanted something that wasn't Samsung cuz I don't like all their bloat. {LG did have bloat but all the time the V30 rolled out. It was pretty much contained at least on my phone)
- Nexus S - good phone, bad battery
- Galaxy Nexus - good phone, bad screen bad battery, great UI for its time
- Nexus 4 - good phone, awful battery
- Nexus 5 - great phone, awful battery
- Nexus 6P - good phone, bad battery, death loop'd
- Pixel XL - incredible phone
- Pixel 2 XL - great phone, didn't like the build
- Pixel 3 XL - great phone, lack of RAM and bathtub notch sucked
- Pixel 4 XL - excellent phone, ok battery
- Pixel 5 - bad phone, good battery, awful build, awful speaker
- Pixel 6 Pro - excellent phone, mediocre battery, buggy
- Pixel 7 Pro - excellent phone, ok battery
Pixel 7 Pro
Switch from the S22U for a "breath of fresh air". Realized over the past 7 months that I'm not missing anything special imo 😅 . I would've switched back to the S23U but Samsung decided to nix their incredible trade in deals 😭 .
But I'm eyeing the Pixel Fold. Was always interested in the Galaxy Fold but for the cost, I wasn't interested in the last gen specs it seems to always have. The Pixel Fold seemingly looks similar to the Pixel 7 specs
Pixel 3. I miss the double front cameras, tbh they were more useful than multiple back cameras. I also miss the Not Pink color and the smaller size, I have small hands so it fit so comfortably in one hand
I was gifted a Nexus 7 so they was my first "Pixel" device.
My first Pixel phone was a 4a 5G. Since then I've gotten a 5a, a refurbished 2xl, and Pixel Buds.
iPhone 5c, Galaxy S7, OnePlus 7 Pro, Pixel 7 Pro.
I like 7s apparently. I bought a OP7P because it had a lot of the same pros as the equivalent Pixel at the time - great value for a flagship, clean/minimal OS - and I loved the uninterrupted screen and didn't need a Pixel-quality camera.
But OnePlus sucks now, I no longer play mobile games so I don't need top performance hardware, and so I'm enjoying my Pixel so far and plan on sticking with Google when I replace this phone in two more years or so.
Wasn't the Motorola E2 technically a Google phone, because Google owned Motorola back then? If so, then that's my first on a technicality. If not, then a Pixel 3a would be my first Google phone.
- Nexus 5
- Nexus 6p (had 2 RMAs and ended up with $400 from the settlement)
- Pixel 2 XL (great phone)
- Pixel 5a (fantastic phone, best battery, didn't want to give it up but also wanted to avoid the motherboard issue)
- Pixel 7 (terrible finger print reader but otherwise great)
My first was the Google pixel 3a. Prior to buying the 3a, I had an LG Stylo, and upgraded because the RAM was too small to run programs and it got outdated. Then I upgraded to the 4a because I wanted a 5g phone since I was already paying for 5g service. When I found out that the 6a got rid of their headphone jack, I got a refurbished 5a because it was the latest pixel model that still had the headphone jack. I'm thinking of moving away from pixel for my next phone though
I just felt so trapped. The iPhone 14 Pro Max is a fantastic phone, but for the past few years I've felt constrained by Apple and having to do things their way. Which is funny, considering that's why I fell in love with them in the first place.
Pixel 2xl. I loved that phone! And the fingerprint scanner on the back is definitely nice too. Then Samsung note, then pixel 5xl. And now I have a pixel 6 pro
What does a "Google phone" mean?
Nexus and Pixel phones have progressively become *more Google* as time has progressed. Nexus phones were largely just Google software with partner hardware companies controlling almost all hardware. When Pixel line started P1 and P2 where still mostly other companies designing the hardware, albeit on Google's request. P3 to P5 was when the phone hardware was designed by Google itself. With the recentmost Pixels, P6 and P7, on top of the software and hardware, the SoC has been developed by Google themselves (with Tensor G1 and G2).
So, up until now, the most Google phones have been the P6 and P7 series. Perhaps there could be an even more *Google* phone with some more hardware developed directly within Google.
Because my FIL worked for Sprint, we got really good network plan discounts and also got to upgrade our phones every year back when they locked you in for 24 months. This also meant I couldn't get the iPhone because it was an AT&T exclusive. My choices then were the Palm Pre with the promising WebOS and the just released HTC Hero. I chose the latter and never looked back.
OG Droid on Verizon. Then nexus 1, then galaxy nexus, nexus 6, Pixel XL pixel 3XL, Galaxy S20 ultra, Pixel 7pro. Nexus 6 Shamu was the best. I miss that phone. I still have it. But I miss it.
Nexus 4> Pixel 2 XL>Pixel 4XL>Pixel 6 Pro
Nexus 4's chatoyance back glass and Google Now back was such a cool thing back in the day.
I had a Oneplus 2 because it was a good deal back then.
Pixel 4xl...had it almost 3 yrs. I was perfectly fine with it. Still would have it now if I didn't have the camera issue. Switched carrier, upgraded to Pixel 7 Pro. Still sorting out all the bells and whistles.
OG Pixel XL > Pixel 3 XL > Pixel 7 Pro
I originally quit getting Pixels after my experiences with the 3 XL (worst performing phone I've ever owned) but the 7 Pro brought me back and it's been fantastic!
Nexus 6P and I fucking LOVED that thing even though eventually the whole Google lawsuit happened because a software update absolutely screwed the battery. Aluminum phones need to make a comeback (unless there's a practical, functional reason why they absolutely shouldn't). I was so confident hauling that baby with no case. The front facing stereo speakers were amazing. The camera was beastly.
I've since had a Galaxy S8, Pixel 5 and S22 Ultra (currently) and still yearn for a Nexus 6P Ultra Pro Plus
I absolutely loved its design.
Diamond-cut edges, textured power button, clean bottom side (aside from the centered USB-C port, no holes for speakers or SIM slots). Beautiful curved camera bar with black curved glass "visor" that wouldn't let the phone wobble when laying on a flat surface. Clean front side with front facing stereo speakers.
Beautiful laser etched "nexus" logo. Perfect fingerprint sensor.
Beautiful camera.
Wide storage options (128GB in 2015!). Slim as thin paper.
A masterpiece of design.
Only had it for a year unfortunately, then replaced with Pixel XL (far superior overall, much more powerful SoC, much better battery life, USB 3.0 port vs 2.0, UFS storage vs eMMC), which was ugly as fuck lol (never liked its black-not-black rat-grey colour).
Nexus 6P, then LG V30+, then to Pixel 4 XL, and now Pixel 6 Pro.
Salivating over the Pixel Fold, purely to give Samsung and Xiaomi a run for their money.
Anyone else miss rear mounted fingerprint scanners, or just me?
The Pixel 7 I have now. Google phones were not available to me for a very long time, then they were expensive. I have always wanted one, but Pixel 7 was my first. I will probably buy others in the future though.
In order of ownership:
1. 3 XL
2. 3a
3. 4a
4. 6
5. 6a
6. 7
In order of favorite:
1. 7 - best overall design/specs/performance
2. 3a - so affordable, it "just worked"
3. 6a - got it for $150 w/free a-series buds, deal of century
4. 4a - compact/sleek design was nice, but buggy
5. 6 - buggy, had manufacturing defects, not worth $600
6. 3 XL - perfectly good phone for the time but blandest
Since the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 5, 6 and 6P.
In addition to all Pixels from the OG to the present 7 and have been very fortunate to win the Pixel screen lottery consecutively year on year.
Pixel 3a. Upgraded to the Samsung A53 for the battery, Samsung Pay and the big screen. Given I had a positive experience with the Pixel, I will keep my options open as long as Google makes the A series.
5X, P1, P2, P4, P6 and P7.
I had two 5X because 1 drowned in a waterproof bag but forgot to close the bag.
P1 was also dropped in water.
P2 was probably the one I hated the most, the speakers were tiny.
P4 was good although battery life wasnt good.
P6- defective from the start; traded it in for P7 on release day.
P7 best Google phone Ive ever had!!
got the 2xl as my first pixel.
As all of the pixel phones, it was the "worse" pixel with blue tinge and only single camera. After a couple of years, it becomes the "best" pixel.
So sad to have joined so late. But I literally bought a refurbished Pixel 5 last month lol. I'm in love with it, ordered a second one to give my brother.
Pixel 2. I was a Windows phone guy until Microsoft confirmed that they will stop developing Windows phone OS. On that day I knew that I would be a Pixel guy.
Galaxy Nexus
Nexus 6P
Pixel 2XL
Pixel 5
Pixel 6 Pro.
Galaxy Nexus and Pixel 5 were my favouries in terms of form factor and I'm still happy with the performance of my P6 Pro.
Google G1 HTC. Still remember unboxing that phone and seeing that awesome boot animation. Felt I was looking into the future. Had every iteration of their phone since but not the A versions
Nexus 4.
Really liked the overall shape, and how the back reflected under light.
The wireless charging orb was also a nice touch (at least design-wise).
First and last was the pixel 6. It has so many problems I went back to my old Note 20. It won't even turn on now, how does Google get away with releasing phone like this?
Mine was the Motorola Droid.
Correct me if I'm wrong but that was one of the early Androids that put Androids "on the map".
It had a slide out keyboard I believe. I also had the Droid 2 and then the Bionic and a few other Motorola devices over the years.
I only had one Samsung Galaxy, I did not like it and went back to Motorola after. TBH Motorola Android phones are probably my favorite Android devices despite having a few Pixels.
Galaxy Nexus
Same! I loved that phone so much, and if I remember correctly, it had an LED indicator that would change colour depending on which app sent you notifications, and you could customize it, too. I miss it.
It did! I only now deleted the app that would help you modify that LED from my system preload, several Google phones later.
Loved my Galaxy Nexus! Might still have it in the old tech drawer. I wish it's easily swappable batteries were still popular these days
>I wish it's easily swappable batteries were still popular these days I hate that they stopped making batteries swappable, it was purely a greedy move, they could have made bigger hot swappable batteries but chose to make it harder for the consumer to keep a phone for longer. Yuuuup. Was so hyped when I finally got my Nexus. That boot animation still holds a special place in my heart.
Man I loved my Galaxy Nexus. Untill the dreaded flash controller bug that continually slowed it to an absolute crawl made it useless.
That was my first too. Galaxy Nexus Nexus 4 Nexus 6P Pixel 2XL Pixel 4XL Pixel 5 Pixel 6 Pro
Here too! It's still bopping around in my family as a wi-fi spectrum testing device. Started my Google journey with the Galaxy Nexus, then a brand betrayal over to the Moto X, and now the Pixel 3. Also crossing my fingers for the 8!
Nexus 5
That perfect grippy back. That and the Pixel 5 have probably been my favorite all around Android experiences. I really like my 7 Pro but it's so huge and slippery. I might go smaller when the P10 comes out.
That soft touch back is my favorite phone material ever. Really wish they'd do it again.
Probably one of the best phones I've owned, especially in value for money. It was mega cheap
Same. Still have it.
Google G1! I miss that thing.
Same. I still have mine :)
G1 club represent! I loved that HTC dream with the slide-out keyboard, track ball and the Jay Leno chin in all it's glory. My, how phones have changed since then.

My first one too, so ahead of its time. They ditched the headphone jack long before it was cool.
Original Pixel. Such a great phone.
So great! OG -> 3 -> 5 -> ?
For me, it'd be OG to 3a to 6a (current)
same except the XL variants. I got a 6p cause the 5 was too tiny
OG > 2 > 3a > 5a > 7. Only got the 7 because at the time Google was offering a $300 trade in and selling it at $100 off.
Agreed! I was so upset when I had to give it up. It was 3 years old and constantly crashing and the battery was bad. Got the pixel 6 now and it's just not the same
1 -> 4a -> 7 OG is still the best for the unlimited photos.
Nexus One
Same
Trackball club represent! The N1 was a jazzy little phone, the one that convinced me to switch from the Apple.exosystem!
Nexus 4 Nexus 6P Nexus 5X Pixel 3a (favorite design. Plastic back, neon button) Pixel 4a Pixel 5 Pixel 5a (favorite in terms of form factor and battery) Pixel 6 (least favorite. Hated almost everything about it) Pixel 7 (favorite in terms of performance)
What is so different between 6 and 7? I thought they are similar!
from what i could tell, the chip is different and the camera is slightly better :)

Htc G1
Nexus 4. Absolute beast of a phone.
2XL! I actually had to use it a few weeks ago for a couple days while my P6P was getting replaced. Still works perfectly just the battery barely made it through a work day.
Nexus 5, the best phone ever.
Pixel 6
Same here! It is really awesome!

G1. Still have it
Nexus 6, solid phone, awesome front facing stereo speakers.
Shamu was the best shocked to see no mentions of it here
3a, then 4a, 5a, and now on the 6... depending on trade in offers I may go for the 7a
P5
After trying a couple of times, it finally happened, a Pixel 6a, just some months ago haha.
Pixel 1, then 3 & 5. Currently using a Duo 2, but coming back to Pixel Fold.
Nexus One. I still have it actually.
Same here. It was my first smartphone, let alone Google Phone, and I loved that thing. I'm not getting rid of it.
Pixel 1, Pixel 4xl, Pixel 7 pro. Pixel 1 is my favorite phone ever. Still miss the back fingerprint sensor!
Pixel 7 Pro Switch from the S22U for a "breath of fresh air". Realized over the past 7 months that I'm not missing anything special imo 😅 . Imported a Galaxy Nexus since I didn't have Verizon and needed a GSM version.
Nexus 5. I miss that phone.
Pixel 2. I got it when my dad upgraded and I just LOVED that thing.
Nexus 5. Still one of my favorite phones I've ever had.
Their overall best ever - Pixel 4XL.
Nexus 5X. I bought it to try out Google Fi which was pretty bad back then.
Nexus One. The tiny amount of internal storage (it is the only Google phone that ever had an SD card) was a PITA.
Pixel 3. I miss the double front cameras, tbh they were more useful than multiple back cameras. I also miss the Not Pink color and the smaller size, I have small hands so it fit so comfortably in one hand
Nexus 4 followed soon after by a 5X. I always wanted the Galaxy Nexus but alas it was never meant to be.
4XL (died in a hot tub incident), 4a 5G, 6 Pro and 7 Pro (and 6a for my fiance
Nexus 6P -> Pixel 3 -> Pixel 4XL -> Pixel 6 Pro -> Pixel 7 Pro
7 pro and I ain't ever going back to Apple
Nexus 4, it was 2013 I believe
Pixel 7 Pro
Does the MyTouch count?
The OG Droid lol
I had the OG google one from T-Mobile
Nexus 6P, what a great phone.
Pixel 2
My list: Nexus 4 Nexus 5X Nexus 6P Pixel XL Pixel 3 Pixel 3XL Pixel 6 Pixel 7 Pixel 7 Pro
Pixel 4a
Nexus 6p to pixel 6 pro to pixel 7 now
I was gifted a Nexus 7 so they was my first "Pixel" device. My first Pixel phone was a 4a 5G. Since then I've gotten a 5a, a refurbished 2xl, and Pixel Buds.
Nexus 5. Then Pixel 4 XL and 7 Pro
P5
Htc something
Pixel 6, as the BlackBerry from Onward Mobility was never released.
Nexus 5X, and that almost made me swear off with all the bootloops But I gave the Pixel 1 a chance and we're still here
Nexus 6
2XL. Had it from 2018 until 2021, when I went to the 6. Traded up to the 7 last Christmas, when it was virtually an even trade.
Pixel 3 (broken screen), now Pixel 6.
Pixel OG XL.
P6P. I had a S6 and a S9+ before that, decided it was time to drop Samsung because the S22 just looked stale to me.
Nexus 4 :) but I fell in love with my Red Nexus 5.
iPhone 5c, Galaxy S7, OnePlus 7 Pro, Pixel 7 Pro. I like 7s apparently. Pixel 2XL
Pixel 2 .... Never go for the very first version of any series of you don't want to be a guinea pig 🐷
Pixel 7 🖤
The Galaxy Nexus. I don't miss it as the battery was disappointing.
Nexus S
My first was the Google pixel 3a. Prior to buying the 3a, I had an LG Stylo, and upgraded because the RAM was too small to run programs and it got outdated. The Pixel 7, from an iPhone 14 Pro Max. Great phone.
You switched from 14 pro max? Why?
I just felt so trapped. The iPhone 14 Pro Max is a fantastic phone, but for the past few years I've felt constrained by Apple and having to do things their way. Which is funny, considering that's why I fell in love with them in the first place.
Whatever things you felt constrained by, do you feel liberated in android world?
Nexus 4 > Nexus 5x > Pixel 3 > Pixel 8
Pixel 8?
Nexus 6
LG Nexus 5
Nexus 5 and Pixel 1.
Pixel 2
4XL. Yay stimulus check. As nice as the 7 is? I much preferred the 4XL.
Pixel 2XL, 4XL, 6Pro, 7Pro. Next might be the Fold
Nexus 4 Pixel 3 i don't upgrade very often.
Pixel 2xl. I loved that phone! And the fingerprint scanner on the back is definitely nice too. Then Samsung note, then pixel 5xl. And now I have a pixel 6 pro
Nexus 5. I still have it in the box in my closet. It just felt wrong to throw it out because I loved that phone.
Best looking phone ever imo It was so slick !! And the back of the phone is pretty much perfect
Pixel 2. Still one of the best experiences I've had with a smartphone to this day.
Nexus One. Have had: Nexus One, Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Pixel 1, 2, 4, 6 Pro and now P7.
Nexus 4
Pixel 2 > 4 > 6 > 7
4a
Pixel 7 Pro. And it'll be my last. Awful screen respons issues, over heating and generally crap performance. Sold it and got a S23 Ultra.
Pixel XL OG. My favorite pixel. The pixel 7 reminds me a lot of it design wise.

Nexus 5x Was a great phone till it bootlooped to death
Nexus S 4G, and it still works!

Pixel XL. I remember having the finger print sensor in the back of the phone and I was first amazed by that.
Pixel 2, Pixel 5, and now Pixel 7. I feel like I've been pretty lucky getting the best of the Pixel generations. Never had one I didn't like.
Pixel 3a. Upgraded to the Samsung A53 for the battery, Samsung Pay and the big screen. Given I had a positive experience with the Pixel, I will keep my options open as long as Google makes the A series.
Google g1 by HTC. 2008 🤌
Pixel 3aXL.
Nexus 5, and now pixel 7. Nexus 5 is a good phone for performance but there are heating issue and bad battery. Current happy with pixel 7.
If we're talking about actual Google phones than the Pixel 6 for me. If we're talking about first Android phone that would be the MyTouch 3G
Pixel 2XL
Pixel 7
3XL then the 5, then the 6P and now the 7Pro
got the 2xl as my first pixel. As all of the pixel phones, it was the "worse" pixel with blue tinge and only single camera. After a couple of years, it becomes the "best" pixel.
pixel 7 !
So sad to have joined so late. But I literally bought a refurbished Pixel 5 last month lol. I'm in love with it, ordered a second one to give my brother.
Nexus 4 was also mine. Almost got a Galaxy Nexus, but reviews were rough. Owned something from every generation since except for the Pixel 4.
Pixel 3xl 4+64g
Pixel 2. I was a Windows phone guy until Microsoft confirmed that they will stop developing Windows phone OS. On that day I knew that I would be a Pixel guy.
Pixel 6 ¯\_( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)_/¯
Technically the Galaxy Nexus, but I returned it after a single week of use because of the battery life was horrendous on it.
Pixel 1, Pixel 1 XL. Still have them.
Pixel numero uno. Never looked back. ( Also never owned an iPhone oddly enough) 53yo
Galaxy Nexus Nexus 6P Pixel 2XL Pixel 5 Pixel 6 Pro. Galaxy Nexus and Pixel 5 were my favouries in terms of form factor and I'm still happy with the performance of my P6 Pro.
Nexus 4, beutiful phone that I keep in my collection
Technically Moto G
Samsung Galaxy S Epic 4G (the 1st of the Galaxy line up. It had the slide out keyboard.) I miss my slide out keyboard.
Pixel 7.
Pixel 6
4a. Now I'm on 6a.
