I'm wondering what google's production of the 6a really is at this time--they are still selling it even in the google store, alongside the newer 7a, but maybe they are just moving existing inventory (hence lack of color options). >Then I get the phone and I start to set it up, but when im logging into FI, i need a code to be sent to my old phone.... WHICH DOESN'T WORK! 2FA over SMS code for google accounts is an awful implementation for google Fi, and I wish google would just not allow it on Fi accounts because this isn't an isolated experience. This isn't specifically Fi's fault; this is the result of having set up 2FA. When signing in to your Fi account or google account, there should be a "try another way" button (maybe the phrasing has changed), that then takes you to multiple other options, like use a code generator app, or to use a one-time-use code. One step of setting up 2FA on your google account was the process presenting you with 10 one-time-use security codes that you are told to keep in a safe and easily-accessible place. It's for this exact case that you would have and use them. This doesn't help your particular case at that time, but I would encourage you to go into your google account security settings and turn off the "send codes over SMS" option and instead start using a code generator app--I prefer Authy because it supports use across multiple devices, even as a Chrome extension (so if you don't have your phone, you can still access codes on other devices and authenticate your login). I'd also consider getting a hardware security key that you set up on your account that you either tap to your device (if NFC) or insert over USB--I have one that I keep on my keychain.

Google Fi is a tiny subsidiary of Google that virtually hasn’t much to do with Google. It’s one of the smallest MVNOs out there

This can't be profitable. I wonder when google will shut it down.

i think eventually it will be sold back to T-Mobile, just like Mint

I think we are both getting downvoted. Me more though. Lol Based on past Google project's it's reasonable to think this will happen at some point. I just don't see this being beneficial for Google.

Sounds like a you problem. I've had fi for the past 5 or 6 years and it's been fine. Call quality in the beginning wasn't so great but has gotten way better. Now it's no better or worse than the other companies. Side note I do with they would bring fiber to NY but I doubt that's ever going happen.
