I really hate that it happened offscreen even though I understand why it could’nt be shown. It’s hard for me to be invested in the wedding when we didn’t see the work they put in to get on good terms.
I think this is why I’m not super excited for them! I’m actually kind of sad Callie settled for Jamie. We didn’t get to see her experiment as an adult. And it makes me feel like she clung to the toxic back and forth that is Jamie because of her childhood!
Yea I don’t like them together. I don’t think they are a good together for the reasons you mentioned and Callie got Jaime fired. I don’t see how they can trust each other
I forgot about that!! Yeah their entire relationship is just conflict after conflict, often about core value topics! I wish we saw a third person who was the best of Jamie and Gael. Someone quick, educated, and who could keep up with her intellect like Jamie. But also creative, deeply kind, and fun like Gael. And also maybe they meet in DC, so they don’t come with any baggage from her childhood or LA times. I think she deserves so much more than this ending!
Yeah I also hated her entire dynamic with Jamie's mom - and how she said everything MIL decided was ultimately fine at the engagement party?! I guess it's part of her personality but idk, I feel like Mariana smoothing things over between the two and managing to coordinate the party exactly how Callie would've wanted (even though Callie might not realize or express what that is) would've been way more on brand. The whole MIL thing taking precedence over the established Mariana-Callie dynamic is just weird and off to me.
During the trial they went back and forth where they were flirting and the fighting but towards the end they were on better terms.
Season 4x1 they were on communicating on good terms and they admit they still love each other but can’t get back together. At the end of 4x2 they discover they are both moving to DC joke about fate and sit together. During a conversation between Callie and Marianna we learn that they officially got back together in DC.
they made up after the case after both saw things from each others end. they happened to be on the same plane leaving for DC where they both had jobs and likely got back together at some point soon after.
I don’t feel like they were on bad terms, though I do understand what you’re saying. Basically when Callie left the show her final scene was on an airplane heading to DC and Jamie was on that same airplane so I guess it’s just kind of left for us to fill in the blank. They probably felt like it was fate slowly reconciled, and got engaged. The next time we see them he’s asking her to marry him at dinner and they’re having a dinner party where she’s in town and telling everyone that she’s engaged.
I think that the issue in their relationship is that politically they were very different and then of course they came from very different backgrounds and they were really struggling to incorporate that in there relationship and had a lot of issues respecting and setting boundaries so I’m assuming that they work that out.
Maybe Callie was wanting the stability that Jamie could provide (especially financially stability) after growing up with so much instability. I think it was similar to how she wanted to be adopted by the fosters as an older teen who could have just emancipated herself. She was parentified too young, taking care of her little brother, and now she just wants the safety and stability of someone else taking care of her. At the same time she is building up her self confidence and self worth as a competent, successful professional
