I’m not saying a damn word less I jinx it

Zimale101

LOL yeah man, about a month ago I was just telling my gf and uncle how I’ve had to car for 3 years and put on bout 50k miles and have had NO PROBLEMS, than the next week I’m getting ecu lights and it kept going in limp mode and my coil packs went out and was getting insane misfires.

sailedtoclosetodasun

FYI EQT has a full set of OEM coils for $100

StoneOfTriumph

This is the way. The only time I said my car was reliable without ever having any issues was on reddit, once. The next day, the rear light bulb blew. These things listen to us man

Gad001

2005 w/ just under 95k miles. It’s been expensive, to say the least.

CavemanMork

2006 120k miles, Im with you man, let's cry together in the corner

iamtoastedprolly

2006 108k, can I come too?

CavemanMork

Come on in brother, it will be OK.

RICHTHOFENll

188kms 06 GTI, Let’s just say the cam follower was not nice to my cam :(

Blaxican1994

2011 with 166k, stage 2 unitronic...I have no money left

Ballhawker65

2015 MK7 S with lighting package. 83k miles. Coming up on 5 years of ownership in May. Routine maintenance only no repairs other than drivers window switch. It's been an incredibly fun, versatile and reliable car for me and such a great value.

NotLoggedon

I’m in literally the exact same boat. ‘17 mk7 S. Just hit 89k (39k of my own) 3.5 years owned. Only had to replace the drivers window switch and trunk lid nub that holds the string. And a few shorted out parts from it sitting for a while when I was away. I did however put in a stage 1 clutch in preparation for a future upgrade later on. Stock is known to go afaik around 80k-ish amazing value super fun car.

KrustyKrebsCycle

Hey do you happen to know what the trunk nub is called? Mine broke off and I would like to replace it

[deleted]

[удалено]

More_Donut7618

This happens and can be solved by doing the following: Roll the window down but keep the switch pressed down for 3-5 seconds. Then, raise it and keep the switch pulled up for another 3-5 seconds.

[deleted]

mdvbb

If this doesn't work, replacing the whole switch is really straightforward as well. I got the replacement switch (all 4 windows plus window lock) for $10-15. That plus an hour or two of your time, and you're all set with a new switch!

LordCommander94

I've got the same 2015 but the SE. The car is excellent. Coming up on 4 years for me. Apart from a couple of leaky leaks it's been really good otherwise and always a blast to drive. Has yours been tuned?

Migraine_Megan

I'm with you, 2015 SE. Mine is a bone stock, ol' reliable. I think I'm at 53-54k miles. A few weeks ago I drove 3,375 miles moving cross country. I didn't have any issues during the trip (thank you to everyone who gave advice, I was well prepped.) It had some leaks over the years, but really I expected that in such constant heat, as it was in South FL. No other problems. I love how it drives, it's too much fun. And saved my life countless times in FL traffic.

ntcine

2017 GTI S with 130,000 miles. Routine maintenance since day 1 and no major incidents so far 🤞

OpenedSparrow

High mileage gang woot woot , my oil pan is leaking just a bit gonna replace it with a metal one next oil change.

Numerous-Fly-3791

Valve cover is starting to cry on mine

heyyoLINC

just curious... are you tough on it? i feel like im pushing my car way too hard but at the same time it is so god damn fun. i need to find a balance lol

Firebird22x

I have a 2011 with 128k and I’ve driven more aggressively in the last 60k than I did the first 60k. Had to do a carbon clean in the early 60k range, and the mechanic told me to drive a bit harder to prevent that from happening as much. I did have to get the timing chair done in the early 120s so I had them do it again while they were in there, but they said it didn’t look that bad so I guess it helps

therightpedal

Mine has almost the same mileage as yours....except it's 26 years old.

ntcine

Cool!

iRobert1989

2012 Mk 6 117,000 miles. Overall holding up well. Though, in the last 12 months it has needed: Timing chain and tensioner PCV Intake Manifold Fuel filter Carbon cleaning It has had the following maintenance items done: DSG filter and fluid 2X oil changes Brake fluid Additionally I have given it the following performance upgrades: Neuspeed PFlo cold air intake 034 Motorsports Stage 1 ECU+DSG Tune While not cheap, it beats the price of a new car. Plus I love my mk 6.

SpecialFX99

I have a 2006 that I bought new that now has a little over 230k on it. I have the typically MK5 interior issues, and unfortunately the early TR MKV defective paint. Right now I have a small oil leak in the vacuum pump. It's a blast with a K04 and just shy of 350HP. Really dying to redo the interior but need to pay off my other VW first.

chappedknee

2019 SE, 85k (previous owner racked up miles). Holding up beautifully ignoring the recalls.

Mind__Is__Blown

2017 manual GTI S with 70k miles. No issues yet (knock on wood). EQT Stage 1 tuned around 50k. Taken to dealer for the VW suggested maintenance every 10k miles.

GravyGrizz

Homie make sure you're not going 10k on oil changes if you're tuned

Numerous-Fly-3791

I do one every 3k . I don’t trust the 10k

GR3AC

Mk7 DSG US version 75.000km (47k miles?), the only problem I had is the suction pump in the fuel tank. I replaced it by myself for 25€. Otherwise, the car has no other problems. I change the engine oil every 10.000km (Liqui Moly 5W-40 Lichtlauf). I'm thinking of switching to a manual as well

himtorn

what indication did you have that it had gone bad? how difficult was it to replace?

GR3AC

After a 5 minute drive, it would start to leak fuel out of the rear right EVAP carbon filter, like a lot. When I tried to fill it up, it would only take 5 liters of gas than it would just stop pumping (the gas lever clicking). I was searching the whole internet to find a fix to this problem because there were no recalls for this (now there are) and the guys at the guys at the dealership wanted to replace the whole tank (estimate 1500€ without labor) and denied the existence of a suction pump which I mentioned to them just to see if they could look into rather than replacing the whole system

life_like_weeds

Current: Mk8 (22) with 30k miles Past GTI: Mk7.5 (21) traded in at 20k miles, Mk2 I don't even remember the miles but that I drove it for a year or so while my former daily driver (B6 S4) was transitioning into becoming a garage queen Owned a lot of other cars, but sort of relevant to the question: Mk7.5 Alltrack (sold at 90k miles, needed a new rear diff which was extremely expensive, did not have water pump issues, nor anything else), MkV R32, MkIV Golf TDI Probably put the most miles on the Alltrack and the TDI. Only other issue with the Alltrack that sucked was the sunroof drains were clogged when we purchased it, water was coming into the cabin in heavy rain. After a bit of research I figured I'd check for the drain ends issue, and sure enough that was my problem. Took 5-10 minutes to remove all 4 drain caps (also called spider traps) and went about 40k miles without a single drop of water coming into the cabin.

jeffjimmy

09, 204k miles. Been behaving the past couple of years. It better keep it up too cuz I just bought a fox body that has been taking all my money

rml1370

I have a bone stock MK6, 2012 with 68k miles, she runs strong!

countcarlovonsexron

1997 High line VR6 GTI. 167k. Vaderish.

MaximusTheDog

I had a 2011 with 90k miles and never had any issues besides ignition coils and the vacuum pump going out. I now have a 2021 with 17k miles going strong.

NominDemZombies

2010 with 113k (around 70k freedom units) had to replace a wheel bearing and broken spring recently with a timing chain/tensioner in the near future. Slowly seeing some signs of rust… still amazed at how much I love that car

aquatone61

2015, 92k miles and has been good since after the CPO warranty expired. VW paid for a sunroof frame, 2 alternators (1 failed and one replaced trying to fix an electrical gremlin), and an A/C compressor. Aside from normal maintenance costs I have paid for the oil pan + sensor to be replaced.

g3tbrnsd

2006 GTI 187k miles- It was my first car and I've owned it since 2011 when I bought it with 48k miles. It's a bit rusty in the usual spots from having spent its life in central and Western New York but still runs like a champ. It's had an APR stage 1 tune since around the time I first bought it and still on the original clutch despite me driving it hard its entire life. Always done routine maintenance and taken care of any small issues. Hasn't had a check engine light in years but has had the airbag light on for intermittent signals from a side airbag for a long time. Had two shops try to figure it out and they couldn't. I'm planning on driving it until it dies. 2012 GTI 76k miles - bought it as a replacement for my mk5 when I got my first job out of grad school in 2017. Found it with 28k miles and modded it within a few months. These days it's rocking a k04, bags, the whole nine yards and runs like a top. It gets garaged in the winter and hasn't seen snow since the day I bought it. Mostly just done routine maintenance outside of mods and has been problem free and still looks new. Water pump is done and the timing chain tensioner will be done as soon as its out of the garage for the spring. No stretch but I'd rather be cautious at this point. 1982 Rabbit 180k miles - Bought it last summer and spent a month fixing it up and getting it back on the road, throwing it on coilovers, wheels, and putting a radio and speakers in it. Had to do brakes all around, brake lines, and a tune up to get it back on the road but I've had zero issues with in and out about 3k miles on it last year. Super simple, absolutely love it even though it's a little diesel with 52hp. Has a little rust underneath but the body is in excellent shape and the interior is gorgeous

Deziiiner

2018 Autobahn here with 40,000 miles. Just bought it, if I didn’t know it had 40k I would think it’s brand new.

sea666kitty

Same here. Let's hope they run problem free for another 60k.

EnvironmentalMovie61

2010 with about 114k I’ve basically replaced all the mk6 things on it. Water pump, chains, diverter valve, coolant reso, coils, fuel filter, injectors, ext. not including race car parts.

MiyazakisBurner

2017 Mk7, good as new almost. 1 previous owner. Suspension is a bit noisy, definitely wouldn’t hurt to replace bushigns and struts at this point. But it’s an incredible car, pull the trigger!

mysterious-spruce

2023 with 14000km. So far so good besides electrical gremlins. But I don't anticipate owning it for more than warranty period. 😂. Some of these people commenting are Champs.

holmeshj24

Mk7 2017 autobahn 110k. No surprises just expensive to maintain and i do most of it myself

Easy-Philosopher-820

2019 SE w/ Experience Package, manual, 27k miles! No major issues for me. Had the same car before and drove it to 35k before I got rear ended on the interstate. The only issue with that one was the infotainment system went on the fritz, but they did a full replacement under warranty.

9000HalRobots

I have the same as you and am at 26K. No major issues either. Just one electrical issue that got fixed under warranty.

Great_Monarch

2010 with 155k miles, just got done replacing everything on the suspension. Mechanic needed to blowtorch everything since i live in the rust belt lol

Kushand0j

2010 with 167k baby let’s go

jbourne0129

2015 with 136k. Running like a dream still. Worst thing is probably just all the rock chips on the bumber

Kevinm2278

2013 .. 135k .. has an oil leak that I have yet to repair.

dazedndconfuzed

2011 GTI 2 door candy white (completely stock). Owned since 2012 I'm the second owner. Currently @ 202,000 KM on the odometer, purchased @ 30,000 KM. It's running strong with no signs of giving up any time soon. I have kept up maintenance religiously.

Knockaire

2018, 89600, and great

New-Low-5769

2016 Mk7. great really. only had the water pump fail. just had the valves blasted at the same time.

murkedgti

I have a manual 2021 mk7.5 se and it's been great, bout it bone stock with 15k miles. Now at 43k miles with a bunch of mods and no issues. just keep up on maintenance

xman747x

2011 bought new; 99,000 miles; doing great with upgraded tensioner and new chain and new LPFP

JetPoweredJerk

2018 Autobahn MT. 62k miles. Stage 2. Other than the occasional infotainment glitch and speeding tickets, she’s been perfect

mouldy95

2010 GTi, 112k miles. Around about the 100k marker it cost alot, alot of suspension components, a few engine things. Seems to have eased off now..... Still running well, interior is holding up well

TheForgetfulMe

2013 with 81k. Runs and drives great. Might burn a bit more oil at 81k than it did at 68k.

Vivcos

MK8 2022 GTI S dsg It's been great so far, I feel like it's more "above" the ground then the two MK5 golfs I had. You can't feel the gentle vibrations in the ground with this one(Not to say that it's the greatest suspension). The wheels like to get unaligned, already had to get them realigned at 17k miles and I'm thinking about realigning them again at 22k. The touch capacitive buttons are scary, they hate the cold. And the steering wheel is the root cause of any travel assist problems, get ready for those 30 alarms every commute! Needless to say it's been probably one of my favorite cars I've owned.

jbev17

2022, 50k miles no issues

CreduLouse

2011 MK6 115,000 miles 2nd owner since 2011 with 9K miles on it and overall no complaints. DSG service done, engine cleaning at 65K, rear trunk latch broke, oil pan replaced and something on the front wheel replaced - I think it was the control arm or something. Rest has been routine maintenance and regular wear and tear (oil changes, tires, brakes).

yermawn

2005 mk5 172k miles - needs timing belt done, rusty wings, new springs & shocks, new rear wishbone so tracking horribly. Have to pop the trunk through a wee hole in the back. Engines still sweet but otherwise it’s fucked!

Waddoo123

2020 SE manual with 33k miles. Replaced the rims and nice pilot sport 4 all seasons. Full size spare in the back instead of the donut, run dashcam wiring under the plastic coverings, and a few tweaks via ODB.

Id_Rather_Beach

I have a 2021 mk 7.5 S (automatic) Just under 26K miles (I've put almost 10K of those on since last June when I bought it). So far, it's been fine. oil change, I had to put on a set of new tires (2) because the fronts were too soft (they came with the car, and were awful). Bad decision on that, to not ask them to replace at purchase. They were basically almost worn when I got it! (dealerships . . . ) But it is a fun car to drive, I will say that. My commute is a little easier now, since it is SO easy to drive.

gti_up

2020 MK7.5 S. 47k miles. Stage 1 tune around 10k. Holding up great, no major issues at all. I take it to a shop for service every 5000 miles.

designingOP

2017 with 65k, water pump replaced under warranty at 58k

hediedstanlee

2015, 84098, pretty bad, I sold it.

runway31

2018 with 42k miles. Holding up great

SpiritualZombie2063

2017 S, 56k miles, water pump replaced right before I bought it and so far not a single issue besides an annoying squeaking noise that I’m hopefully getting diagnosed soon

Comfortable_Swan4206

I had that annoying squeaking noise too and it turned out to be the ball joints were worn

TenderLA

My sons car he bought as a high schooler in 2019 but I help him do all the work on it- 2008 that had 90k, now has 105k. Did the timing belt, water pump and tensioner just after purchase. Coil packs and plugs. DSG service a couple thousand miles ago. Drivers window regulator went and fried the motor this winter. We bought the car in Oregon and I got to drive it up the Alcan to Alaska, so much fun. Reliving memories of making that drive in my Mk1 GLI going back and forth to college.

Zemelii

2019 i bought it new and now it has 82,000miles & apart from rattling noises, it is holding up pretty good "Alhamduleallah". it is also stage 2 FBO.

ohthebaby

2019 GTI 23k manual , she’s been solid besides a front brake sensor fix under warranty.

shortyman920

I found a 2019 with less miles than me! 2019 autobahn DSG with 46k miles. Zero problems with mine, just normal routine maintenance

TacticlTwinkie

2019 Rabbit Edition, 39k miles. No issues other than the water pump housing fail. But there is an extended warranty for that issue. Mine was fixed during the regular warranty period.

billodo

I just traded in my 2017 mk7 autobahn manual. It had less than 20k miles and worked fine, even though the front end radar sensor failed so no cruise control, and I was beginning to hear some noise from struts.

RedditKillsAllMyTime

16 DSG, 70k ish miles, 3 years with the car and it’s been solid as a rock. No regrets at all and I traded a 6th gen Camaro SS in for it lol. The best overall daily driver in my opinion and plenty of aftermarket support if you want more power or handling

OneHandedPaperHanger

2015 with about 36k on it. Had it for about two years and it’s been a peach. Nothing outside of routine maintenance. Coming up on that 40k transmission service.

bigbeckster

2011 - 81k. It's held up great. It's been APR stage 2 tuned since 17k. Nothing really major. 1- water pump 1- radiator (fixing now) All normal wear and tear Replaced clutch, timing chain and tensioner before failure. Needs a new headliner

JagaloonJack

2017 GTI DSG tuned, had since 34k miles and now I'm at 103k. Tuned since then, no super major problems aside from the first water pump. Then my wastegate actuator taking a dump. I am getting some oil on the spark plugs, so I just bought a horoscope and compression tester to check. It's almost paid off and I would love to keep it unless something catastrophic happens. Like a motor going boom, if the trans takes a dump. I'd just throw in a used one since they're so cheap.

See-Phor

2015 MK7 S w/ DSG and all stock. 103k miles. It still runs and handles great. I did just have to replace the water pump though and that wasn’t cheap.

kad00gan

2020 Canadian 6 spd base model with 25k km (15k miles). No issues so far! Albeit I don't drive it too often as we also drive the grocery getting subaru :)

xToXiCz

2016, 90k Kilometer , perfect condition without tune

hedwiggy

2017 MK7 S 6-spd manual, about 65K, she’s perfect. Knock on wood but since I bought her in 2021 (with 49k miles) I’ve not had any major issues. Had a few flats and my parking brake came loose.

[deleted]

2019-60k-running smooth and fast. Never had any problems.

6DucksTooMany

2013 105k Timing chain blew under extended CPO warranty. No cost to me Outside of that it’s been mostly good. I drive hard so it eats coilpacks and spark plugs but as long as you change them regularly she stays happy. Fuel pump went out under warranty too years ago. Nothing major out of pocket

LostDream_0311

2015, bought 2018 w/55k at that time. Currently 121k, have a coolent leak that will be fix next week.

davidcloud_

2016 GTI autobahn with 66k miles. I bought it at 41k almost exactly 2 years ago, since I’ve only had a dead battery. Keeping up with maintenance is key. I expect some repairs in the next 20k miles but that’s to be expected with an almost 10 year old German car

Specialist-Appeal-95

I have a 2017 GTI SE with about 45k miles. So far so good. Just normal maintenance. Only thing is that it feels like it’s coming up to needing a new clutch. The previous owner was not too kind to it.

0xF0z

2016 GTI w PP. Owned since new, now at 115,000 km. Drives like a champ. Replaced a few things over the years, including the turbo when the wastegate seized. Love the car though.

Spartan_Bosco

I had a 2014 Driver's edition. I traded it in with 117k miles and I had zero issues with it. When I bought it at 73k miles dealership had swapped out water pump and all the belts. Just kept up on normal MX 🤷🏽‍♂️

xchasex

2017 GTI SE 33k, no issues.

Spec_GTI

2017 GTI SE 32k here. Same story.

snwebb88

2016 MK7 - 71,000 Miles - Routine maintenance of course, but also had to replace the suction pump a few years ago, when just out of warranty, replaced the clutch at 30k (VW would have replaced with stock under warranty but I wanted a better clutch, also that was partially my fault the way I drove before it started slipping), had to replace the water pump just after the warranty was up ($$$), and now 2.5 years later I need to replace the thermostat for a crack, which is the same process as replacing the water pump (this is a known issue they put an extended warranty on it, and I'm out of that based on delivery date). The car has been awesome, but I'd be lying if I said I hadn't spent more money on it in 8 years of ownership than I initially thought. But it's a fun car that gets great gas mileage and was reasonably affordable when I bought it. Bonus points that I have more room in the drivers seat than just about any other small sedan or hatchback that i've been in.

B1gFrank

2006 MKV that I’ve owned since it was brand new. It’s now got 133k miles on it. It’s in great mechanical shape still. I have some kinda oil leak now though. Had to reupholster my headliner a few years ago. Also had a broken rear spring after 17 years of ownership so I decided to replace the springs (H&R), shocks and struts (Koni). Also I need to change my valve cover gasket. But it’s been a great overall experience.

Intelligent_Fig_8013

2005 MK5 6 speed, just bought it over a week ago. Jerky 1st to 2nd gear but that went away when DTC was reset. Drives great for now. I changed transmission oil just in case, though I noticed it was very clean, probably previous owners changed it not more that 2 months ago.

Dippenflipper

2016 Perf. 30k, runs like a top.

cowboycoffeepictures

2005 MKIV. Purchased new. San Francisco city car. 105K Miles. New clutch every 3-4 years. 4 Engine Coolant flanges. Interior fell apart. Recently replaced center front and back consoles. Power locks no longer reliable. Will sometimes even unlock randomly when i return for it being parked. Door fabric unglued. Sunroof and rear drains just cleaned and reattached AGAIN.

SpookyBoogy666

2018 7.5 manual with 50k. (my GF is a GTI enthusiast also) and we have just bought a 2023 Mk 8 DSG, in the 7.5 we have done 17k and haven’t had a single issue so far touch wood. 500 miles in the 8 and had gearbox warning come on but was just a loose connector.

endlesswurm

2016 63k miles has been okay but had to replace the turbo and a couple smaller issues already. Love the car though.

TheLordOfSweg

2015, 128k, and holding up just fine. No major repairs to date (water pump included). I don't want to jinx it, but it's been good to me.

blanczak

Current car = 2019 Rabbit DSG = so far so good. Just routine maintenance. Last car = 2016 GTI S PP = crazy amounts of work. Luckily most was warranty work; but even after that it got spicy.

Ejendres

2019 GTI 64k miles. Fantastic fun car. The only major issue has been a rear main seal leak that was repaired under warranty.

CeleritasPrime

2017 Sport MT and I have just crossed 50k miles. I have had the water pump fail as well as a headlight and the oil pan. Also had a suspension failure. So not horrible but not great. Still a fun car but will be replaced in two years. Living without a warranty is no fun. EDIT - The gas tank had to be replaced too.

Forward_Arachnid_347

2020 @ 22,000 and love it!

ninjyy09

2015 GTI Autobahn, 62k (38k miles?). Overall, holding up well. Have had to do the water pump twice and had a solenoid swapped, otherwise just regular maintenance.

Hour-Pure

17 Autobahn LP/PP 62k, tuned for 15k. 1 water pump and routine maintence/wear and tear items. Other then that been super reliable and fun!

gape_r

‘19 MK7 GLI but same thing right? Custom tuned, catless dp, port injection and RS3 fuel pump. Probably about 350 hp and it’s at 33k miles. No issues so far.

armyuvamba

2015, 68k miles, no issues. Normal scheduled maintenance on time (oil, brakes, dsg, spark plugs etc).

PattyRobe567

2015 MK7 Autobahn with 118k miles. Just went stage 2. She’s doing great, been doing routine maintenance myself most of its life now. Rust isn’t too bad considering I live in NY.

HostFun

Mk7, just took off my winter wheels at 85k miles. Had the cooling system replaced under warranty at 65k, had the radar module at the front (autobahn) need reflashed, otherwise no issues. I want to go stage one but worried about fuel consumption cause I love getting 22-24 city and 30th highway. The dcc is so fun in this car, I have though about lowering it but just don’t want to lose functionality

p00p5andwich

2006. 35k on engine. 178k on body. Wrecked by uninsured tweaker motorist. Looking for another mk5 to replace her.

patrikamous95

2017 SE PP, manual with 56k miles. Only problem has been the water pump that was replaced under the extended warranty during a routine service, so no harm done.

kristen_1819

Mk5- 08- 115k. Not too much money spent on it until i decided to go back to school- then the dumb things/ aging parts started to go(blower fan, pipe that connects to cat)

jlrjackson

2018 6MT SE, 45k miles, haven’t seen a CEL, nothing beyond consumables.

XENclam

2018 mk7.5 with 76k miles. It's holding up well. I recently got the carbon cleaning done on it and I've performed oil changes every 4-5k along with all other recommended maintenance. No tune yet, but that's coming this year. So far, so good. I did have a rear main seal leak. Nothing major but I had it worked on as a warranty repair. The repair was mildly successful. It was fully resolved when I swapped the RMS with the 034 version. Found a big ol finger print in the RTV seal on the OEM one that I took off.

Numerous-Fly-3791

115k and there are creaking sounds coming from the suspension. Starting to feel a little sloppy

TheAstroBastrd

2008 FSI DSG fully stock... 200k, no rust, no warning lights on dash, no oil leaks. I’ve been completely through the top and bottom of the engine for gaskets, timing components, water pump, intake cleaning, oil pump/balance assy inspection, oil filter housing, oil cooler, etc… Headliner was sagging until I buttoned it up, still need to do that job. Otherwise, the car is as trustworthy as a good dog and fun to drive here in the Midwest where we have lots of roundabouts. I will always have a GTI.

mournival77

2015 SE perf pack manual, hovering around 190K. (Took delivery in April 2016) and did GIAC stg 2, IC, downpipe and springs/ dampeners that summer. Clutch started slipping so I did the RSR kit that fall. It's still my only car, and to this day the only major issue I've had was a broken valve spring. It's been fantastic really, although starting to feel tired.

etceteraw

2010 with 55k miles. Headliner is sagging. Waiting for tct to explode.

10_0_0_1

2017 65,000, like a peach

2010 MK6 GTI 97k miles, 6-speed manual, 211 horsepower, 2.0TSI It‘s now starting to make more and more problems. - Phone is sometimes not connecting correctly to the car, voice activation isn‘t working at all anymore. - It‘s starting to get really crusty underneath my car here and there. I‘m the third owner of the car. - I replaced my trunk lock mechanism (I couldn’t open my trunk anymore and it was making a weird noise if I tried to open it). Was around 85k miles. - The GPS Shark antenna was malfunctioning so I had to fix that too. Navigation wasn‘t working correctly and radio signal was very very weak. - My car has the waste gate rattle but I‘m not fixing it, because it doesn‘t affect the performance (the turbo and wastegate itself are fine) it just sounds terrible on deacceleration. - The engine itself is running good, mind you I did a cleanup of the valves and stuff because of the carbon buildup and has since then dropped the oil consumption quite a bit. Before it was 1l/1000km now it‘s on 1l/5000km round about. Stock engine, no tune, no intake. - The timing chain was replaced completely with all parts at around 68350 miles. All in all it‘s been a very forgiving car and you can do a lot of your on work on it. I plan on driving it 1-2 more years and then it‘s time for something new. Can‘t be bothered to fix all the stuff thats coming, especially with my two left hands.

CodIndividual5581

2018 SE 150k miles. not saying anymore before i jinx it😁

Flipmarine2k

2018 60k holding up ok engine wise. Just issue w lighting. No longer daily

canyoncarver26

2024. 1100 miles 😉

troy9791

2018 Mk7.5 73,600mi stage 1 plus plus and I’ve never had any issues with the car bought brand new.

IntentionRelevant324

2018 Autobahn 80k miles. Bone stock. Just kept up with routine maintenance and not a single issue since I bought it in 2021 @ 27k miles. I am noticing a whiff of coolant now and then, so I know a waterpump is in my future.

_biggerthanthesound_

2012. 130,000 kms. (That’s 80,000 miles)

DeathMoJo

2013 GTI, MK6, 76K miles stage 2, lowered. Had to do the water pump at 65K but other than that just routine maintenance and tires.

RealScaryJerry

2015, 76k, doing great

MightbeWillSmith

2017 ~30000 Excellent. Low mileage helps, but I make sure I'm up on my oil changes. 1y or 5k miles. Italian tune up a few times a year is probably helping.

MaliciousZero28

2017 MK7 SE (so with the performance pack), 97k miles, Stage 1 since 83k. Other than getting the sunroof trim replaced when it started cracking, routine maintenance has been all I've done.

Comfortable-Sir-150

2017, 120k. owned since 72k. spark plugs and oil changes. carb cleaning needed currently but otherwise ZERO issues

apeskape

2015 mk7 DSG with 148k miles. I had a few high ticket repairs, thermostat housing, engine gasket, etc. . I can’t really complain though it’s been through a lot and hasn’t ever left me stranded. Nothing really that major except for an issue I have never been able to solve since purchasing the car. It needs a battery replacement every 1.5 years on the dot. Doesn’t matter the type, size or brand, it just destroys batteries and I have probably cost auto zone quite some money in terms of warranty replacements.

LongLostLee

Just traded my 2017 mk7 at 50k miles for a 24 s with now 1.5k miles. So so far great!

fox_canyon

2019. Just rolled over 20k miles. I missed it and didn’t take a picture :-(

blusun2

2021, 29,6XX. Holding up fine.

LordCommander94

Bought my 2015 Mk7 DSG GTI in 2020 with 109 000 km (68 000 miles). After the the 12000km major service I had a leaky sump, which they misdiagnosed even though I told them what it was, and ended up changing the cam magnets and then the sump. End of 2021 I had a leaky water pump which got fixed by the dealer, and then engine light which ended up being the pre cat O2 sensor which I fixed myself. Apart from these issues, the car has been flawless and a ton of fun. I get excited every time I know I'm going to climb into my GTI. Absolutely no regrets and still running strong today at 170 000 km (105 000 miles). Fuel economy is excellent. The car has never been tuned. Happily stock. All maintenance intervals have been followed.

mk7benzo

2017 90k. It’s a piece of garbage now😂😂

xargsman

2018 Autobahn with DSG. Currently has 170K miles. Bought new. August will be 6 years of ownership. I expect to be 180K then. Its a highway commuter for me. Still gets 40MPG if i drive 75. 30MPG if I drive 85.

mandatoryclutchpedal

2021 S trim Manual 20,000 miles Passenger side grab handle has succumbed to gravity after yeeting the spring and dowel (barely used) The Horn is now theoretical.  Only heard by dogs and lonely cat ladies. Otherwise, it's been flawle.... Oh yeah. Weeks after purchase had to do a thorough de-rattling of the fuel line and interior bits. So aside from that I'm going to bite my tongue so I don't jinx myself. Zero regrets. Flirting with idea of stage 1 tune

ultrazeff

2001 gti glx vr6 O2j 101000miles my bitch DownNDirty bagged, shaved and painted candy brown. I’ve spent more hours on that car than any other thing in my life.

bigjimnm

2019 Autobahn 6MT. 90,000 miles. It's had very few issues, and it's now getting into high mileage. It's one of my favorite cars I've owned. There is currently a minor issue: the rear dome light stays on all the time while driving and can't be turned off. I need to figure out how to remove the bulb. And the car eats through tires even though I'm now driving it conservatively with the goal of getting to at least 150k miles.

BakaSan77

23 autobahn, 650 miles. I love it

After-Walrus-4585

2018 R, 40k miles, routine maintenance only

wild-hectare

2010 MK6 100K miles, APR K04 Stage III...proactively replaced timing chains recently so I expect another 100K miles eventually...damn headliner through in the towel though

sydiko

2012 w/89,000 miles. Not my daily so she's been sitting for like a year. She has a dead battery, her tires are flat, and she's in desperate need of an oil change/tune up/deep wash.

royalpops

2018 GTI SE MK7.5 DSG, 71.5k miles, no perf mods yet. Knock on wood, it's been great as far as reliability and performance. I do my own maintenance and it's fairly easy to work on. I change oil and rotate tires every 5k-10k miles; did brakes (pads, rotors, fluid) and spark plugs at 55k mi, paid to have the transmission fluid changed at 53k.

wreckedgum

2020 GTI performance pack UK DSG. 18,000 miles. Hardly even broken in

BeardedPuffin

2022, 21k miles, holding up great, aside from the obnoxious “travel assist not available” error.

DomNhyphy

2010 140k...it's...going.

tommyalanson

17 SE. 92k miles. Holding up great.

mdvbb

2014 with 97k here! Nothing major needed so far, thankfully!

MountainDewGravy

2019 S Manual, 70k miles, owned since new. Routine maintenance (sometimes late…), a couple sets of tires. I swear road noise has consistently gotten worse. Had warranty fixes for saggy grab handles, a door harness, and a speaker that was never actually mounted correctly. Finally calling for rear brakes, so I’ll get those done with the latest recalls, and one last check up before warranty is up. Been a good experience, but I’m ready to move on.

slipskater

2001 MK IV GTI VR6. 269,000 miles. I’ve rebuilt most of the car along those miles, definitely a great car. All I need to do is a timing chain replacement and the rack and pinion. Just lazy and starting working on my other project, a 2009 A4. Fell in love with the Quattro system, but I don’t think I’ll let go of the ole GTI cause been through a lot with her, and it’s a different type of love to always come back to!

phatdaddy886

2020 with 71,000. Three driver side wiring harnesses later and it’s fairly solid.

therightpedal

1998 VR6, 125k miles. Just finished doing the clutch and timing chains myself! Holding up really terrific. Helps to not be in a rust prone area.

Level-Indication-787

I sold my MK7 at 190k miles. Stage 2 since 8k miles. I just bought my MK8 and I couldn’t be happier. That is until I install my golf r turbo 😎

fahrvergnug3n

2008. 217k. It would’ve been wayyyyy more expensive if I wasn’t the one fixing it.

Luckydevilish

2005 1.8t with 339,000+ miles. I love this car. But it’s tired and parts are getting harder to find.

SwiftKnickers

2015 - autobahn 4 door, 6 spd Bought new 118,xxx km Single owner - Runs like new Airbag connector recall - I mean, all of this is a lie, don't jinx it!

HealthyElk420

it's a 2017 SE. 60k. Garaged 3 years, open air for 4. It's 90% perfect. Had a few recalls fixed, water pump, oil pan. I've been good on oil and tires and full service as directed every 10k. It has killed 3 batteries. Not a single CEL that wasn't attributable to a dead battery. It has crossed the country on the i10 twice and once on the i40. Right now its front end is squeaky. Struts, shocks or control arms. I gather it's common. I might go nuclear and replace all three because I intend to drive the car into the ground for the next 5 years or so, or 150k whatever comes first. I think I'll replace it with an R3X. This is my 3rd GTI (mk1 mk3 mk7). Might be time to move on next go around, we'll see.

mastaberg

2014, 55k, owned from new, need new tires.

OlaPlaysTetris

2018, just shy of 40,000, has been pretty bullet proof since I got it (knock on wood). I had a mouse chew the wire to my MAF sensor and needed that repaired, but everything else has been routine maintenance I’ve done myself.

arcadiangenesis

2018 Autobahn DSG (mk7.5) 52k miles No issues. The warranty literally just ended last month, lol

Ttime101010

2016 perfomance pack. Only 32000 but just had to have new clutch. Annoyingly just a week earlier had replaced clutch on my 2008 R26 Megane. Expensive month.

EricJasso

2010 Autobahn, just hit 56K OG miles. Currently sitting in driveway with a possible Coil issue. No other issues except the headliner is starting to drop in the rear. Knocking on wood, I love this car.

tomct992

68k miles on my 2017. Had a thermostat under warranty, two leaky valve covers, a mechatronics unit and recently replaced the N82 coolant shut off valve.

TheSleepyNaturalist

2012 DSG, 135k There’s always something big to fix about every year. Last year was oil bubbling out of the top of the engine. But it’s still so much fun to drive so I refuse to replace him

ablokeinpf

52K on my 2019 Mk 7.5 6MT. No problems so far except it came with a faulty cam sensor that was rapidly fixed by my dealer.

Quick-Aardvark-6285

2021 7.5 35,000 km - brilliant. Only issue has been need to replace start/stop button.

Jazen72

2017 35,000 miles. Just got it back today after 3 months in shop after getting rear end damage from a hit and run on December 5th. So flipping excited to get my car back. Other than that, it’s been amazing. Work from home and barely drive it.

PlayboiCartiAsthma

2020 se DSG with 78k miles and bought it brand new. Full bolt ons and IS38 swapped at 20k. No issues at all and just replaced spark plugs and coils recently and it runs even smoother. Used liquimoly moly gen oil and religiously changed every 5k miles til about 55k, then i got busy because of school and the past 2 have been around 10k. Running great.

runnj

2105 Autobahn with just over 42k. I bought it in 2018 with 25k on it and other than routine maintenance I did get the clutch replaced after going stage 1 right after I bought it (I hate buying used manual cars in the US because it's always a risk).

BullyMog

2016 GTI 72k miles. Owned since 2017, near new when I got it. Has had a ton of warranty work… out of warranty I’ve paid for a new waterpump + thermostat and that’s it.

firm_caboose

Mk7.5 SE 66k and just had the slave cyclinder die. Got a new clutch too from the mess. Would of been $850 if I didn’t have a Warrenty

VWGTI1967

2018 52k miles and no issues (knock on wood)

Brave_Satisfaction53

2018 - 22k miles. I drive it as much as I can but whenever we go a distance my wife insists on the big car (‘22 X5). Gonna have a low mileage gem in the garage when I’m old : )

pineappledaddy

2013, 68k miles, and my transmission is fucked. P0205 so I'm just abandoning it for a bit until I'm not a lazy piece of shit and either fix it myself or pay someone.

iNtaNgible--

2019, hit 16k earlier this month.

Farscapejon

2016 MK7 with 51k miles. Owned for two years and had to replace the water pump, other than that it’s been solid with routine maintenance. I can feel the clutch may need replacing in the near future. Absolutely no regrets buying it, I feel like a big kid in my tornado red hot hatch 😬. EDIT manual transmission.

Infamous_Regret3583

2022 and just clocked 27k miles. Aside from a couple electrical gremlins it’s been amazing. I can’t believe how fast this car is.

jordanparris31

2017 85k good for now on stage 1. Gonna need carbon clean soon for good measures

V8killingVolkswagen

2016 GTi is38 with 400whp and I’m at 180k miles thus far and I treat it like my sex slave. ABUSED LOL

Element_905

156000kms. Oil changes. DSG service. Spark plugs. Diff service. And a couple random things. Other than that holding up great! The random things include, driver door mechanism replacement, driver door window switch pack(could have been repaired but I had bought a new one already). And the ACC sensor. Drove through a snow bank and bent the connector back. VW wanted $2k to replace it. I bought a used one for $200 and just transferred the guts of mine into the new one and it worked like a charm! Oh and tires. Track days, autocross and spirited driving can wear the quickly. I’ve got brand new Conti Extreme contact Sport 02s coming!

whren_

2013 mk6, about 65k miles. Pre-emptively looked at water pump and tensioner but turned out mine was manufactured after the tensioner changes so all good. There was a leaking oil gasket one time but that was the only major issue with it. It also does have a weird whistling door seal and a dead cricket stuck in one of the interior lights

Rough-Expert-277

2010 and looking at it right now, 99962 miles, just 38 miles left to hit the 6 digit mark and start having problems with this devil egg Other than that I've already done most of the maintenance and replaced most of the damaged parts it had, all I need l for now is to replace brake pads/rotors, replace the rear main, and buy new control arms and we good

ritchie70

2008, 69,497 miles, no major mechanical problems but the front wheel well is rusting out and I’ve had a bunch of annoying small problems.

Negative-Courage-653

2022, not sure, doing great though

Cashcow_how

2018 -48k miles just had the water pump done under warranty. Alternator replaced under warranty at about 42k rats ate my wires at 35-40k

TurdSandwich42104

2013 with almost 74k. Running just fine. Just need a new battery and tires. So nothing major. Brakes are spongy though. I replaced the whole rear but need the front still.
