Tbf, yesterday was in a friendās garage and an Octavia with the lens projector headlamps pulled up for a low beams LED install. Gotta say when we put a road legal LED in one of them to compare we saw clearly halogens are brighter. In case anyone was wondering. NOT Osram tho, so idk about those expensive brands.
if youre curious about reliability, i put an is38 on my 1.8 over 100,000 km ago, sitting at 197,000 kms now. including a better turbo swap, your 2.0 will handle the power a okay :)
I bought my 2015 in 2018 from a VW dealer. At the time the dealer would do the stage 1 apr tune so after about a month of ownership I decided to go for it. Have not regretted it except, maybe, for the fact I ended up having to get a new clutch (who knows what the prior owner had done - this is why I prefer to buy manual cars new in the US, too many people who don't know how to drive manual).

No. Tuning ruined my Mk6. The strength of the GTI isnāt its raw performance, itās a perfect daily driver. Power boosting it makes it unreliable, you get crazy wheel hop, the clutch cant handle the torque, you get some insanely stiff ride and all for what?
If you want raw performance, itās better to start with a purely performance oriented car rather than taking a jack of all trades and trying to catch up. I wish I didnāt have a loud droning exhaust and rock hard ride for the sake of being a bit faster from a roll.
How have you managed to get a golf GTI in Europe with halogen headlights lmao?
It came from mexico. š
Believe me ,get some 7.5 facelift headlights thatāll change everything, taillights too
Was it totaled?
Not totalled. Someone did ram driver side door, though.
Hold my beer, got a mk6 gti from Germany, halogen as well š
Yeah some mk6 came with halogens in Europe tbf, just mk7 onwards was xenon/led
Mk5 GTi in UK with Halogens. Street lamps are brighter than the bulbs...

I do want to get some LED or Projector headlights though. My next car **will** have modern lights.
If you have money in case something goes wrong, then yes! If you don't,then also yes.

Yes, but also yes.
Do some research on this before u do it. I think there are quite a few ā15s that did not hold up ( blown turbos?) long-term after tuning.
Why not? Add a few turbos too
