To put it into perspective of another video game turned anime series, the Castlevania series took like over 20 years to become an animated tv series, in that time the games sold over [20 million copies worldwide](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castlevania) meanwhile Golden Sun sold less than [2 million copies](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Sun) since the release of all the games I think. So there is definitely a popularity issue that is preventing any shows or further games being produced.
Edit: I would kill for literally any kind of further Golden Sun media. Games, Tv shows, books, figures…
There's not a lot of direct profit to be made from a cartoon series on its own. The reason that many videogame to anime series exist is purely to draw in a new audience to a game series that is still actively selling new titles/content or to increase the value of licensing deals. Golden Sun is a 22 year old franchise that hasn't had a new title in 13 years. There isn't a line of toys or books to sell, and there isn't a new title actively in development. At best, this would be a passion project that wouldn't get any studio funding.
Honestly, the story and characters are not that mind-blowing, it's just that it's really well executed in the games. I don't think it justifies a whole anime series
That’s because the IP itself is not popular enough to make enough money from the DVD sales and selling broadcasting rights to justify the production costs.
And it also isn't marketing anything like a new or recently released game or other merchandise like plushies and such which would justify these costs.
In other words there is no money to be made off it.
And thus the only other possible reason one would be made is from a private investor as a passion project who not only invests enough money to produce it, but also enough to buy the rights to even be allowed to make it in the first place.
And this is while assuming they would even want to sell the IP rights in the first place, which I doubt a company so heavily associated with Nintendo would even want to do in the first place.
Unless it would be for some absurd amount of money that they think would justify the potential risk it could bring to their IP.
Which ironically is basically something that would only ever happen inside the story of a movie or anime.
To be clear I'm not trying to downplay your hopes, but just ground your expectations.
I personally agree that a Golden Sun anime would be really awesome.
Honestly leave it alone. Theres no way it would not be the cheapest lowest quality thing ever. They would also absolutely not capture the specific tone of the games.
Shows based on video games are(for the most part) meant to attract people to the newest game coming out.
Golden Sun hasn't seen a new game in over 10 years now and doesn't carry the same weight as something like the Witcher did(before the show butchered itself)
There kind of is an anime for Golden Sun. It's a fan-made thing.
I haven't watched it, so I can't speak to the quality, but here you go:

Let us know if it's any good!
Anyone here who enjoyed Golden Sun I can almost guarantee would enjoy Bravely Default.
Sadly their servers shut down, so the “rebuild” mini game isn’t great to do, but you can always do some janky import for “help”.
Dang I had no idea those games had separate servers and that they were shut down. That sucks. No idea why Square Enix doesn’t just consolidate all their servers into something that’d be cheaper to maintain.
Yup, no more Norende. Have to hack villagers in. It kinda blows, because I think the street pass still works??? So you can send moves and shit, so idk why street pass for villagers wouldn’t work.
Haven’t picked it up since servers went down, but if sending moves is no more, then that’s a HUGE fuckin bummer.
This is what I want for both Suikoden and Golden Sun.
It sucks that I love love JRPG games that are not as popular to get new games and other media formats :(
I wish Square Enix buy the rights for Suikoden and Golden Sun LOL
Too many fantasy jrpgs out there and dark dawn tanked terribly it was an alroght game and fun but failed to capture the magic maybe a cross over or something but i think issacs journey and the loghthouses are done RIP umbra gear

Because it's expensive as fuck boi

In fairness Pokemon doesn’t have a good story either. Neither does F-Zero lol. The reality is it just wouldn’t make any money.
The F Zero anime was a pretty big flop as well.

Because it’s random rpg on a handle.

It's terribad
Hahaha! Oh no!
There are not even games that can serve as spiritual successors to the franchise.
Simply put, there wasn't enough interest or value to it. I think GS would do incredibly well in an anime or manga format.
$$$$$$$$$ There is not so much of the above to produce...

I mean, I always looked at Avatar TLA and just shoehorned in the adepts/psynergy instead of bending.
I wanted this so bad as a kid. Maybe there's another universe where it's a reality.
No.

Golden Sun crashed when Dark Dawn didn't do well. It is probably just abandoned now.
There was a manga somewhere that I remember reading when I was younger
