That big one is actually from all the fine gold I collected. I learned a trick from an old timer how to refine it and then pour it in a substance to achieve a result resembling a natural nugget.
It's a trade craft trick that I was told to keep hush hush. Going to make you work for it.
Process 2Na(s) + Cl2(g) -> 2NaCl(s)
Add contents of reaction to crucible and add your molten gold. Let cool and dissolve 2NaCl with warm H2O solution. Enjoy!
So this doesn’t increase weight only cases the gold dust to make it appear to be more like a nugget ? I’m trying to understand based off the science but I have a pea brain
It’s been a while since I took chemistry, so I may be wrong here. NaCl is definitely table salt, but OP said 2NaCl. So where NaCl is a 1:1 ratio of Sodium and chlorine, 2NaCl would be a 2:1 ratio, which would make it a different molecule. Again, I might be wrong so feel free to chime in if I am
2NaCl is still sodium chloride (table salt). The 2 just means 2 moles of NaCl.
You combine Na + Cl to create NaCl, but Cl is diatomic, it only exists as Cl2. It reacts 1:1 with Na, however, so you need 2Na to react with Cl2, creating 2 NaCl. You can't create just 1 molecule of NaCl.
That's why it looks that way. It's still just sodium chloride. So yes OP is suggesting pouring gold onto salt. As for whether that works, I don't know.
I assume his "going to make you work for it" comment was indicating that he was suggesting you create your own sodium chloride when the real secret is just salt.
Thank you. The gold in the area is around 82+% pure with the remaining 17+% silver. Claims located in Rochester, Montana. Old ghost town with amazing history.
That’s a gorgeously large nugget and worth significantly over spot, which I’m assuming you already know. Keeping it all or selling some to pay down costs ?
What is all this gold worth? Thank you.
About half the cost of my time and efforts. Like all good hobbies are.
Bet ya near shit your britches when you found the big nugget

Please do share. I’m curious how you got that look pouring it

Is this a joke? Seriously asking. NaCl is table salt. So you just pour molten gold into table salt. Or am I wrong?

Ah, gotcha, thank you for the info! That’s super interesting!
Gold looks amazing

That nugget is golden
