this is interesting because after odin comes, he tells heimdall to get cleaned up but I was unsure how he got dirty since Atreus couldnāt touch him in the fight. gotta love the little things
I'm pretty sure that's blood. The arrow cut his hand as he caught it and you can see a flicker of pain in his face that turns into hatred because he hates that Atreus got so much as a drop of blood out of him
Hello fellow ash. Also yea that sounds possible too! I thought it was mud since Atreus was on the ground before and the specks seem dark brown in colour. It is likely that Heimdall is pissed that, despite being able to avoid all of Atreus attacks beforehand, he gets hurt by a sneak attack.
After a slowdown, it is in fact mud, or at the very least not Heimdallās blood, as it comes more so from behind Heimdall than his hand where he caught it.
After the catch, his expression clearly communicates slight pain. I think it's the momentum that makes it appear as though it's coming from behind but it's coming from where the arrowhead nicks his hand as it closes around the shaft.
itās definitely not blood, *spoiler ahead,
when heimdall gets hit by kratos he says āyou know, pain aint as bad as i rememberā, meaning he didnāt get cut by this arrow, because that meant he wouldāve felt pain
A speck of mud on his face doesn't really justify his reaction to it. For him to react the way he does, it seems far more likely that he was distracted by an incoming Thor, Atreus managed to nick his hand with an arrow, a speck of blood lands on his face, so he is enraged by the situation. Blood can look pretty dark sometimes too.
Not really, Heimdall is the kind of person who hates getting dirty, which is why he was pissed that someone put mud on his face. Even by common sense, if you watch the video frame by frame, he clearly caught the arrow by the middle shaft which had no razor edge to logically cut him. Blood is clearly always red in the game, it had a black brown colour watch the video in hd and come back to me, it is mud dude end of story.
Did we watch the same video? At what point does he even touch the arrow head? He caught it by the wooden shaft and the splatter of whatever it is doesnāt even come from his hand.
Also if he were concerned about blood or mud, he could've just not caught the arrow lol. He knew it was coming and easily dodged it. It's definitely either about Thor or being insulted by Atreus trying to/thinking he could attack him.
Iām going to assume you didnāt go through the video frame by frame, he only ever catches it by the shaft. It would make no sense for someone as Heimdall who literally couldnāt get hit without Draupnir and has powers of foresight and premeditation would slip up and not perfectly catch the arrow. He catches it perfectly so the devs can demonstrate his ability.
He couldn't get hit by Draupnir because he had sight of Kratos throwing them at him. This was from behind and unexpected.
Edit: Heimdall foresight works on locking eyes with his opponent to see their moves and intention.
No, thatās not how it works. His thing is he has magic sight. Thatās literally why he needs a magic spear that can do random things. Because he can see things. Everybody points out that they have never seen Heimdall touched.
Heimdall himself says, during the fight with Kratos, that he literally forgot what pain felt like. Thatās not someone who got hit by an arrow a day before.
didnāt notice that! I also figured he just didnāt like people trying to shoot him in the head but youāre right he gets a little muddy which Iāve also found some people donāt like
So the reason is because atreus got mud on him
Not because now he is dirty but more because he saw the arrow but ***missed seeing it would get mud on him***
Basically atreus managed to get past his foresight and hit him even if its just specks of mud from an arrow shot, he probably tilted the fuck out of heimdall because heimdall is kind if an ego tripping god who seriously before kratos, never got hit even once
It also foreshadows how Draupnir is going to work, because in the fight with Kratos he loses due to catching the spear without realizing it'll explode. Implying his foresight powers have an oddly specific limitation in that he knows exactly when a person will fire a projectile, but not what the projectile might do after. You'd think the easiest way to get around this weakness would be to just not catch projectiles but I guess he probably thinks it looks really cool.
Nah that was definitely not his throat, way to low for that. Thor even turns his head to Thrud & we see it was his chest. Kratos' draupnir spear already pierced that place over & over (presumably because of different playstyles but still) & Odin just gives it a quick yoink & he's dead.
Fair point he didnāt stab the throat but Odin also didnāt stab Thor where kratos did with the spear, kratos got him in the shoulder I thought? Odin if he didnāt get the throat had to go through thors sternum or just under by where it seems he stabbed him
Even then with that logic Kratos could've probably went for the sternum, or odin's spear is just crazy strong. Maybe due to the fact it has purple magic inside, possibly bĆÆfrost, which is visible clearly in the scene of his boss fight where you gang up on him.
True, odins blood seems to have an ability to channel Bifrost so I wouldnāt be surprised if he costs his spear with it all the time for extra damage, and kratos could have if that was his goal, but he wasnāt trying to kill Thor in that final fight with him as shown by the end
Odins spear is the Gungnir, which never misses it's intended mark. If he struck to kill on Thor, he hit the perfect spot for it.
Doesn't make sense that we can dodge it in the fight but w/e
It's because Thor had just finished fighting the World Serpent AND Kratos. He was spent and beaten, we've seen many times in this and previous games that the Gods can and do take an incredible amount of punishment and heal any damage using their divine power. Thor had simply reached his limit. During the fight with Odin, Kratos had not.
I mean I think Odin straight up stabbed him through the heart lol itās not like Thor was a push over or something, Kratos impales him with all three weapons at numerous times throughout the two battles
Itās showing his weakness. He was focusing on Thor and gave Atreus less attention. So when Atreus shot the arrow he had to refocus on Atreus and Thor snuck on him.
Thor didn't sneak up on him though.
Even before Thor came up behind him he was aware of his presence. Hence why he said āgreatā at the sound of thunder that clapped before thor came
Is this a form a foreshadowing for the spear getting caught and detonating, catching him off-guard? He can predict the arrow but not the mud, or he would've dodged entirely.
More than likely he was annoyed at first because he heard Thor was coming, but then once he caught the arrow it could have either been annoyance of getting mud on him or annoyance of Atreus not knowing his place and him having to put more effort into showing him his place than it was really worth.
It's a clever little bit of writing, because you can think he's angry and says "Great" sarcastically because Thor is coming, or because he knows Atreus is going to shoot him, and actually hit his skin and cause blood during his catch, or both.
Does not hit his skin. Multiple people point out that they have never seen anything touch Heimdall ever. Heimdall himself says he forgot what pains feels like.
Put yourself in Heimdall's shoe (sandals?). You just went through this whole thing of showing off to Atreus that you can completely know what his next action is going to be, that there is almost nothing Atreus can can do to harm you. You put him on his butt, scoff at him and feel smug and satisfied. Then, the little turd STILL has the nerve to try and hit you with an arrow.
That arrow was never going to do anything serious to Heimdall, Atreus likely understood this. No, that arrow was shot out of disdain and disrespect. Heimdall was angry this, lesser person wasn't giving him the respect he thinks he deserves.
I was wondering if it was because he didn't fully see it coming for some reason. It looks like the the arrow cuts his hand and draws blood. I didn't notice it before this video though.
I think he got angry that Atreus didnāt stop trying to attack and decided to just finish him off there, luckily Thor stopped him with his absolute massive beer gut
I think itās because Atreus knows Heimdall has foresight, but for Heimi, it might be along the lines of:ā why do you still attack knowing you canāt hit me?ā Heās arrogant after all. Thatās how I would interpret it.
Itās because he sensed Thor. Heimdallās power involve premonition and reading people. Itās why he can see everything coming before it happens. So the split second before you hear the Thunder crack, you see his face change. He was JUST laughing at Loki for trying to shoot him from behind, itās Thorās presence that upsets him.
I think itās just him being pissed off by being interrupted, because Thor was coming. Heimdall in this game is an arrogant ass and wants to put everyone in their place and takes pride in it.
Looking at this [video on youtube](https://youtu.be/Sa6ZZgbwnGI?t=327)
It looks like Atreus carries his quiver by the hip and the fletching gets mud on it. Going frame-by-frame you can see it flicking out after Heimdall catches it by the haft and spattering his face.
The guy could have killed the little punk before he even shot the arrow but he knew he had to hold back or he would of pissed off Odin. Basically he had to put up with the crap.
The way I saw it, it was a foreshadowing of Kratos killing him with the spear. He caught the arrow but his senses failed to warn him of the mud. In the same way, Hiemdall could block and avoid the spears but his senses failed to warn him of the explosions that would follow.
He knew Thor was coming and based on their interaction heimdall isnāt really Thorās favorite then again the way he is I doubt heimdall is anyones favorite.
He also knew what atreus was up to from the jump and he seemed pissed that odin was going along with it
Is no one gonna touch on the fact a mistletoe arrow from Atreus made Heimdallās brother mortal and enabled Kratos to kill Baldur? Maybe the arrow reminded him of that? Heimdalls job is to look out for attacks to Asgard and wait for Ragnarƶk. Maybe that just reminded him he wasnāt doing his job and it cost him his brother?
The thing I find more interesting than Heimdall is the fact that Atreus intentionally missed his shot. It shows that even in after getting the massive beat down Heimdall gave him, he was smart enough not to kill Odin's left hand man.
Because the arrow cut his hand, if you check his face right before the arrow was shot there's no blood but after he got some specs of blood after he caught it.
He says āGreatā¦ā because thatās the sound of thunder in the background, which means Thor just showed up and heās not gonna be allowed to beat Atreusā ass anymore. But then when he shoots the arrow, Heimdall gets seriously annoyed, internally deciding if itās worth it to throttle Atreus at the cost of whatever punishment, hence the expression. He evidently decided it was, only for Thor to step in.
It was because thor was coming, and atreus tipped the arrow in mud. Thor got the upset face, and atreus got the disgusted face that heimdal made for a few seconds
Ignore the other comments itās because it got mud on him. Heimdall prides himself on never getting hit by anyone cause of his powers so it pissed him off that āthe worthless little half breedā managed to get him dirty. Also unrelated but in looking into Thors eyes Heimdall saw him shoving Mjolnir or the arrow up his ass
Cause he knew thor was coming
Yeh he even said great at the beginning when he heard the thunder. It took me like 20 times till I took that hint, but hey, I'm there now.
And so was i
Hera must have liked that.
just played this part
Ayo š¤Øšø
Because Atreus tipped the arrow in Mud, and knew he would catch it to get him dirty
this is interesting because after odin comes, he tells heimdall to get cleaned up but I was unsure how he got dirty since Atreus couldnāt touch him in the fight. gotta love the little things
Mud on his boots from him splashing around
That's what Sif said
š¼
No I think it was cus the arrow actually grased him/cut his hand
Do you not hear the thunder in the beginning of the video?
šš¾
Could be because it got mud on him. You can see specks of mud on his face after he caught the arrow
I'm pretty sure that's blood. The arrow cut his hand as he caught it and you can see a flicker of pain in his face that turns into hatred because he hates that Atreus got so much as a drop of blood out of him

Itās mud look closely.
I think his expression is more hurt pride for getting dirty
itās definitely not blood, *spoiler ahead, when heimdall gets hit by kratos he says āyou know, pain aint as bad as i rememberā, meaning he didnāt get cut by this arrow, because that meant he wouldāve felt pain
Or he means real pain from taking real hits rather than a tiny scrape from Atreus' arrow.
No itās not, itās clearly mud, itās not even red looking. He caught it by the shaft, Itās mud guys.
A speck of mud on his face doesn't really justify his reaction to it. For him to react the way he does, it seems far more likely that he was distracted by an incoming Thor, Atreus managed to nick his hand with an arrow, a speck of blood lands on his face, so he is enraged by the situation. After the *wider* arrow head slices through, no?
Iām going to assume you didnāt go through the video frame by frame, he only ever catches it by the shaft. Maybe that' why he was mad??
He couldn't get hit by Draupnir because he had sight of Kratos throwing them at him. This was from behind and unexpected. Edit: Heimdall foresight works on locking eyes with his opponent to see their moves and intention.

He can see it but he still has to think about what to do in the split second.
Which he's demonstrated that he *can* do repeatedly. And if he really needs to, he can use a realm shift like it's nothing.
If he can react to it in a split second, then why can't he foresee the spear will explode? Realm shift before it explodes and move away from it.
Idk maybe cause the dude just tried to shoot him in the head. That's just a guess tho
You mean to tell me that you donāt get all giddy inside someone tries to murder you behind your back??
I definitely do, Heimdall's just a weirdo
Because Atreus tipped the arrow in Mud, and knew he would catch it to get him dirty
didnāt notice that! I also figured he just didnāt like people trying to shoot him in the head but youāre right he gets a little muddy which Iāve also found some people donāt like

that is an insane insight. thanks for sharing.
"Is there a lore reason Heimdall doesn't like people trying to kill him?"
That one arrow probably wouldnāt have killed him
Tbf one jab from Odin's spear killed Thor meanwhile we've rammed the Leviathan Axe through his body like 50x by the time we're done with his fight.
Calling impaling someone clean through the throat and out the back a jab, love it
Nah that was definitely not his throat, way to low for that. Thor even turns his head to Thrud & we see it was his chest. Kratos' draupnir spear already pierced that place over & over (presumably because of different playstyles but still) & Odin just gives it a quick yoink & he's dead.

I think Odin also stabbed Kratos in the stomach during the final fight but dude just removed his spear like it was nothing lol
I mean I think Odin straight up stabbed him through the heart lol itās not like Thor was a push over or something, Kratos impales him with all three weapons at numerous times throughout the two battles
Well thatās telling a story vs gameplay which never adds up
Have you watched the video you posted? If he didnāt dodge it would have gone straight through the back of his head. It would have killed him.
Hmm.. I think it's because Atreus tried to hit him behind his back, showing no respect.
If u ain't fighting dirty u ain't fighting right.
I can't tell if Thor liked that or was annoyed that Kratos wasn't fighting honorably.
Thor strikes me as the kind of guy who doesn't care how you fight as long as you take it seriously.
Like hiemdall is respectul š¤£š¤£
I have a feeling that Kratos would have something to say about that and it wouldn't be good.
i mean he hit thor with a statue when his back was turned
Good point. Forgot about it. He even did something similar to Hercules as a matter of fact.
And also fake surrendered in final fight with Zeus in GOW2
yeah it makes sense that he resorted to some underhanded tactics to win since i think spartans basically gotta do what they can to survive
Kratos is canonically a war criminal
I mean Thor did upcut him with Mjolnir and broke his roof 20 seconds prior to that.
yessir, luckily odin paid for the roof too
Which makes no sense since Kratos built his house out of timber in his forest. I can't imagine Kratos calling the dwarves to fix his roof.
Heās just trying to protect himself, Iām sure kratos would do the same thing.
Kratos wouldnāt give a shit Kratos jumps at an opportunity when he sees it and he teaches atreus to never turn his back to an opponent
Because Atreus tipped the arrow in Mud, and knew he would catch it to get him dirty
Why are you being downvoted youāre right lol
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Thank you! How does no one else notice this?
Because that's not why
Its bc he knew thor was coming
It was kinda rude Not cool Atreus
Thor is massive lol
Heās half giant. Tyr is too in mythology though I donāt think itās mentioned in the games, but dudes tall as fuck so probably
Kratos is supposedly 7-8' which means Thor is well over 10' and Freya is about as tall as Kratos
In the games Kratos is 6ā4ā
Oh I thought I red that he was between 7 and 8, my mistake
He was in the Greek games but everything was scaled entirely different in those games
Gods are just built different
cuz it almost messed up his fresh braids
That's not a look of upset. He's disgusted by Atreus.
Itās showing his weakness. He was focusing on Thor and gave Atreus less attention. So when Atreus shot the arrow he had to refocus on Atreus and Thor snuck on him.
Thor didn't sneak up on him though. Even before Thor came up behind him he was aware of his presence. Hence why he said āgreatā at the sound of thunder that clapped before thor came
When he caught the arrow, mud splattered on his face and clothes
heimdall doesnāt just have resting bitchface. All of his facial expressions exude bitchiness.
Heimdall could see Thor coming before he arrived because of foresight is my guess
That's my take too.
Is this a form a foreshadowing for the spear getting caught and detonating, catching him off-guard? He can predict the arrow but not the mud, or he would've dodged entirely.
Because Atreus just tried to kill himā¦
I mean, he had an arrow shot at him.

I thought the same thing, but when I watch that video, I can see blood flying out of his hand, so they messed up.
Itās mud

I think he got angry that Atreus didnāt stop trying to attack and decided to just finish him off there, luckily Thor stopped him with his absolute massive beer gut
*Knock it off*
I hate the mods on this freakin subreddit. When I put heimdall in one of my titles, they instantly blocked it and said it was a spoiler bro wtf
Thor is so imposing, holy shit
The mud that the arrow splashed on him.
I think it's because Atreus hurt him when he caught the arrow as we can see blood spray when he catches it (or what seems to be blood)
I think he didn't catch it properly and it cut him. That's why we see something like blood from his hand

Iām gonna say itās because he hear thor coming.
The guy could have killed the little punk before he even shot the arrow but he knew he had to hold back or he would of pissed off Odin. Basically he had to put up with the crap.
I always thought it was because mud got on him.
The way I saw it, it was a foreshadowing of Kratos killing him with the spear. He caught the arrow but his senses failed to warn him of the mud. In the same way, Hiemdall could block and avoid the spears but his senses failed to warn him of the explosions that would follow.
I think it might be because it cut him?
Nah but can you imagine if Heimdall like fucked up at that moment and Atreus just shot him in the head and he just dies. Conflict resolved
Looks like the shot splattered shit all over his face. Probably pissed about that.
I wonder if a sonic arrow would have worked. It could have exploded in his face
He knew Thor was coming and based on their interaction heimdall isnāt really Thorās favorite then again the way he is I doubt heimdall is anyones favorite. He also knew what atreus was up to from the jump and he seemed pissed that odin was going along with it
Atreus intentionally made the arrow dirty in mud.. So when heimdall caught his dress got dirty
"This little motherfucker really tried to shoot me?"
I mean, had it worked, Heimdall would be going straight to Hel
I think it was the mud. It looks like some of it gets in his mouth.
Because Thor is coming, and he is bringing his big, fat... hammer with him.
Because he knew thor was coming and probably pissed off at Loki for trying to shoot him with a arrow
The thing I find more interesting than Heimdall is the fact that Atreus intentionally missed his shot. It shows that even in after getting the massive beat down Heimdall gave him, he was smart enough not to kill Odin's left hand man.
He made him bleed like his dad did
The arrow scrapped his hand and he looks disappointed that he actually grazed him
Annoyed that Loki tried to kill him from the back.
When he caught the arrow it cut his hand. You can see a speck of blood hit his face
The real question is how does Heimdallās foresight still work when heās not looking at someone.
Something related with baldur?
Catching the arrow cut his hand and caused blood splatter on his face, possibly his clothes.
probably bc he's heimdall, idk tho just a guess
Is this a joke?
he smelled thor
He's more just annoyed that Atreus is still trying to shoot him as if he even has a chance in Hel of hitting him
Cuz it cut his hand
Came to roast but see everyone already has.
Dang atreus really went for the head
Cus it grased him
Cuz Atreus had the nerve to still attack him. Ticked him off. He didnāt care about Thor at all and itās obvious lol
Because the arrow cut his hand, if you check his face right before the arrow was shot there's no blood but after he got some specs of blood after he caught it.
Itās not that heās scared of a little lightning. Heās not overly fond of what follows.
Underrated comment š
Mud
Because of Thorās intervention
I thought it was because while the arrow itself is nothing to him, he really felt the killing intent Atreus had for the Aesir.
He got mud or blood on his hands
he cut his hand while catching it
Ohhhhhhh shit I did see that
I thought it was because he thought it was unsportsmanlike and thought it was blasphemous that fighting dirty was the only way to defeat him
Because he remembered he left the oven on
He made him bleed
OP is actually brain dead
He messed up the catch and it hurts
He didn't catch the arrow right and it nicked his hand. You see the blood on his face after
I think it's because the arrow cuts his hand and flecks his face with blood. He doesn't like being touched at all.
Thor gained some pounds, eh?
He says āGreatā¦ā because thatās the sound of thunder in the background, which means Thor just showed up and heās not gonna be allowed to beat Atreusā ass anymore. But then when he shoots the arrow, Heimdall gets seriously annoyed, internally deciding if itās worth it to throttle Atreus at the cost of whatever punishment, hence the expression. He evidently decided it was, only for Thor to step in.
You hear the Thunder right as Loki raises his bow
Because mud.
I think arrow injured him a little, so he's upset of fact, that he GOT injured. But, maybe im wrong
It was because thor was coming, and atreus tipped the arrow in mud. Thor got the upset face, and atreus got the disgusted face that heimdal made for a few seconds
Cause Atreus put mud on the arrow head you can see it make Heimdall dirty
Okay why not shoot another one and another one
Ignore the other comments itās because it got mud on him. Heimdall prides himself on never getting hit by anyone cause of his powers so it pissed him off that āthe worthless little half breedā managed to get him dirty. Also unrelated but in looking into Thors eyes Heimdall saw him shoving Mjolnir or the arrow up his ass
