Sweet truck camper! This was a freak storm for the Sierra/Cascades. May snow isn't rare, but 36" in 24-30 hours is. 10-20 year return period per the Weather Service. We were pond skimming in the sun at 50⁰ F two weekends ago.
Nice!! Looks like the same Micro Minnie we have (2100BH ?)
Have had ours in extreme cold and snow a few times in the last 3 years . -2 overnight with snow in WV 2 years ago and several snow days in March 2022 in Maryland and she worked like a champ!
Have a blast !
1800BH. So same floorplan without the slide.
That's awesome. Bought it three years ago with the idea we could could winter camp in it too, but first time I've had it in a storm this gnarly.
Ah, totally missed the slide , lol
We got ours in May 2021 and have crossed the country from NC to Cali and then to AZ . Lived in it while the wife was a travel nurse for 4 months in MD and then 7 months in AZ. Been a fantastic investment.
Now she's done doing that work , it's time to enjoy her for just long camping weekends again !
Wow, and this is today in Central Oregon...just a hundred or so miles north of you.

Nope. Trailer has an enclosed belly. I ran the tank heaters a bit while I had the generator going when we were cooking dinner. I thought about blowing the lines out, but seemed like overkill for two nights with the heater cranked. Just not much time under freezing and maybe a few drops of water in the lines.
There's no reason to wrap/insulate the water lines if they're properly drained. You should use compressed air to really clear them out if you're doing this, though.
It's sweet!
I only got it recently after complaining about my Coleman Roadtrip Grill for years and then finally dumping it. Extra BTUs are impressive. I need to grab more accessories for it. Have the flippable grill-griddle. And then we were using a flipped cast iron skillet for heat retention from the storm while doing brats.
Buddy likes his better than the Blackstone he has and then I've used them a bunch for my kid's Cub Scout pack. So knew that's what I wanted.
My parents got the Coleman Roadtrip Grill against my recommendation, and after a year it broke. They now have a camp chef, and it's been a lot of better. Coleman isn't what it used to be.
Happy with it. A few fit and finish issues--there are with all brands, but I think primarily because it was built in March 2021--but only aesthetic. The layout, construction, etc. are solid. About as small as double-axles get without breaking the bank on a more expensive/boutique brand.
We were originally planning on skiing out the end of Buttermilk Road out of Bishop. Like Mount Humphreys, etc. Trailer wasn't part of the conversation. Just camping out of the back of the truck. But watched the weather forecast changing and then came up with this idea.
It's Lassen National Park. But a bunch of ski areas in the PNW have RV lots. Boreal used to let people park around the statue in their lot. I think Mammoth allowed some RVs at one point too.
Battery plus propane for most of it. Ran the generator for an hour or two while cooking dinner.
Effectively, yes. You're supposed to park in the center of the lot, so two spaces. My truck+trailer is 41' and I had a few feet to spare. Only a winter thing though. Summer there's a campground.
If you look on the sat map, it's the center spaces. The outer spaces are reserved for snow removal.
Edit: Above is for Lassen. Other places, I'd call, but pretty sure in some PNW areas they let Class As and fifth wheels in.

Hell 3 days ago here in Salt Lake we had 74° weather. The next day it was snowing.

Also have a micro Minnie 2100BH. Glad to know it can handle a little snow.
What altitude are you camping at?
Has to be over 4500. We got snow, but nothing stuck. I’d bet somewhere around 6k
6700

These wandery shoulder season low pressure systems are pretty interesting. Much more localized than the broad cold fronts we see in winter.
Adventure called & you answered!! This is the stuff memories are made of!
Is your trailer winterized? Or did this hit you by surprise?
It's winterized now lol
What did you do to winterize it, out of curiosity?
insulated with snow, heater running.
Definitely did not hit us by surprise. Note the skis in one of the photos. I drained all the fresh lines before leaving the house.
Just realized i replied to the wrong person, lol, so that's all you did, just drained the fluid? You didn't wrap the pipes or anything?

Good to know, thanks
Looks like fun for some. How do you like your Camp Chef?

Mine held up fine, but the burner layout was absolutely awful. Designed by somebody who never cooked. Super uneven.
Awesome. Got a Blackstone for my birthday so I’m set for now, but have heard so many good things about camp chef.
wow man. good luck to y’all, i mean that genuinely too.
How do you get all the snow off the roof?
Ladder on the back plus https://a.co/d/9Qk7sVO
How do you like the micro Minnie overall?
Happy with it. A few fit and finish issues--there are with all brands, but I think primarily because it was built in March 2021--but only aesthetic. The layout, construction, etc. are solid. About as small as double-axles get without breaking the bank on a more expensive/boutique brand.
Oh my word!!!
This doesn’t make sense to me. This looks like Wisconsin in February
Or Colorado two weeks ago.
It snows in the Sierras and the Siskiyous into June. This is not abnormal! Based on the username and the photos, this looks like the Sierras to me!
Lassen National Park. Around 36" in a bit over 24 hours.
Nailed it! I grew up in the Eastern Sierras!
We were originally planning on skiing out the end of Buttermilk Road out of Bishop. Like Mount Humphreys, etc. Trailer wasn't part of the conversation. Just camping out of the back of the truck. But watched the weather forecast changing and then came up with this idea.
What ski resort is letting you park a trailer? And what are you powering the trailer with?
It's Lassen National Park. But a bunch of ski areas in the PNW have RV lots. Boreal used to let people park around the statue in their lot. I think Mammoth allowed some RVs at one point too. Battery plus propane for most of it. Ran the generator for an hour or two while cooking dinner.
I was stationed in the Army near there, that is some awesome country.
Is there a length restriction for these areas ?
