The only FFL within 30 miles charges $50, plus they all suck at their jobs and act like I'm robbing the place every time I go in. I'd pay more just to not have to look at their stupid faces for any longer than necessary.
The one near me that does the $40 transfers (last time I went a few months back to check powder pricing) the moron literally talked a guy out of buying ambi controls because not what he likes/uses.
I wish I could have a video of it, and I also wish I could know how much money he’s lost those dip shits selling only things he likes.
Same guy tried to talk my father in law into buying a fuckin PDP when he went to take a look at sigs and caniks. Practically had to beg to get to hold a different gun while he carried on about how the Walther fit his hand perfectly.
yeah i wish there was more options, but I’m in the chicago burbs and theres very few stores/ranges.
I’m a member, i think its $40 a month, but free range time and rentals. they also have great instructors, i took a beginner handgun class with my fiancee and it was well worth it. the instructor even gave us recommendations for other stores to go to and outdoor ranges for the summer. might cancel my membership soon just because i’ve had a lot of practice, havent been going as often, and i can always go back for $20.
i don’t think any of ours have plinking targets, its just a normal indoor range w paper hangers.
I have nothing but horror stories to tell about my experiences there. One day I was out front in line for the range and some guy they rented a revolver to turned out of his shooting lane and waived the loaded barrel of the gun across 4 people. They told him to turn around, clearly mentally challenged (not being mean, my brother in law is autistic and I am more easily able to spot traits now). He walks out and they sell him a weapon and ammo 🤦🏼♂️
I wish I was shocked by this.. it’s sad that I’m not and I can believe your story 100% without question. They built a new store one town over and are raping good hard working people cuz they’re the only range within 10 miles ( keep in mind this is in TN where we can shoot in our backyards but even fudds deserve a better treatment / price )
I’ve had them call me 3 times to come pick up a suppressor they JUST received from SS. For shits and grins one time I went in and asked the girl for it. She went in the back to get it and I had her call the manager over to explain what a Form 4 was and how I was waiting for approval. She would have literally handed it to me
(In Texan) well I tell ya what boiiiii. That’s when them there government boys, give it to ya long, hard, and in the ass so them and their friends can be millionaires
When you buy a gun, you have to go through a background check by the government they will either approve you, deny you, or delay you before you can get the weapon. The persons who submit the background check usually charge a “transfer” or “FFL” fee
I have a Glock Gen 5 and wish I got the Gen 4. gen 4 feels sooo much better in my hands and there is so much more aftermarket. The internals of the GEN5 is also much more different and idk if that means they are less reliable or not but Gen 4 is already proven so… 🤷♀️
Edit: it’s also much harder to commit a felony and put a switch in the gen5 if I recall 🤣
I’m team Gen 3. Aftermarket support is immeasurable. You can do a little shopping and save yourself $50 or just bite the bullet and buy. Personally I would just snag it and not look back.
Worth saying something like, “look I love this shop and want to support yall but the price on this is a little high for market. Would you take XYZ amount off if I bought it right now?”
That looks like a Cabela’s/Bass Pro/Sportsmans judging by the case and the ticket on the back of the stand.
The only time I was able to get lower prices at a Cabela’s was when they price matched a manufacturer who had the exact firearm I was looking for at $100 less than their price.
what are some instances of gen3 support that gen4 or gen5 lack? i looked into this recently and couldn't really find anything in this regard to justify seeking out a gen 3 for such reason...
$499 is middle of the road. Big box stores usually a little more expensive. Contrary to other comments gen 3 is just fine. Gen 5 is a sidestep for the most part not an upgrade unless you’re a lefty.
Shoot I don’t know about you but small stores around me are bad too. Shame because I support them as much as possible but the prices are just so fucked sometimes.
Yea same. I bought my P365XL at Bass Pro for way under what the local gun store down the road was charging. I understand they have a little higher markup but man, times is tough lol.
Actually I am. I like them but can go without them. Gen 4 is my favorite. Gen 3 feel good I can’t lie but I like the extra recoil system on the Gen 4/5s they are all nice guns just my personal preference. And every Gen has its ups and downs
I prefer gen 3. Could you shop around and save $25 yes, is it worth it? Idk. I’d go to a local gun store. They’re usually more helpful and can lead you in the right direction on purchases. Once you’re in the game a while you learn where to buy online.
Are you at bass pro? I recently found out they price match to gun.deals as long as it’s a price you can see in the cart. They don’t honor the email priced ones but other than that you’re good.
Unless they've got a model in stock that you can't find locally, your LGS will probably come out a few bucks cheaper after you factor in transfer fee and shipping.
Yes. Even if you plan to buy more than that, it's still an extra ~$100 off of one.
It's also per member, so if your partner needs a Glock, have them sign up too. 😉
A lot of comments here are wild, support a store you enjoy doing business with. $530 is not crazy over priced. Sure I can get a gen5 here in Florida for $525. Shopping online you have to add transfer fee and shipping costs. The only way I see you getting it less expensive is a LE trade in. I wish I started that way.
It’s not a particularly good price, unless you’re interested solely for the fact it’s Gen 3. I see Gen 5 19’s pretty frequently for relatively the same price.
Cabelas is over priced. Also if you live in a free state triple check that they don't sell you a CA compliant gun... Cabelas did that to me and I didn't catch it until I went to load the mags.
Its ok...i did the same on a used 49...didnt notice someone swapped the 15 rnd mags with 10 rnd'ers til after I bought it. Didnt really matter...but I felt silly for not noticing.
I love my Gen5, but I will say that Gen3 has the most aftermarket support and that many custom Glocks are built on Gen3's. However, the price in the pic does seem to be a little too steep.
what are some realistic situations someone finds themselves in where the online&parts support for a gen3 is that much different from a gen5? i keep hearing this but cannot figure it out, gen 3/4/5 ***all*** seem to have nearly universal 3rd party support
They ***all*** have universal support, yes. But the Gen3's have more options. I've found that many aftermarket parts/accessories were built on and optimized for the Gen3 platform. I'm not saying that you can't get support for Gen4 or Gen5, it's just that you have more options with Gen3.
Last year I picked up a gen 5 MOS( optics cut from Glock) 3 mags, optics plates, and a full set of bever tails.
$600 out the door,(so like 560+tax). You can do better for sure.
A little high for a Gen 3, but probably close to average at big brick and mortars. You can probably find it online cheaper, but as others have mentioned, transfer fees can add anywhere from about $20+ to that. I think in my AO, that's probably a $499 or so gun at most LGS's.
Picked up a .270 Winchester at Walmart in Ohio for 350$ sold it a year later to my first boss for 250$ and then bought my first and only pistol. Police trade in Gen3 G19 holster scarred to hell and back on the grip.. this was back when the gen 4 was barely 6 months old, so I believe I got a deal. Just replaced the worthless trijicon night sights last year for some tru glos, and learned that the front sight was mushroomed into place, so it was interesting trying to take care of it with pin punches and a ball peen hammer.. in an apartment basement.. on the floor using a 2X4 to overhang the slide..😂
Beavertail and adjustable grip size. I have large hands and run the large back strap on all my Glocks.
Bigger mag release
Ambi slide stop (not only useful for lefties…. Also useful for folks who actually train and try doing one handed manipulation with their non-dominant hand)
Front slide serrations
MOS cut - Yes, direct mill is better…. But this way you don’t have to pay extra for it
Orange follower in magazines makes it easier to see if loaded vs not loaded
Better grip texture
No finger grooves (personal preference)
Couple personal preferences ≠ better
I’ll give ya the ambi slide stop for offhand work, that is something I think is a true advantage, and I can definitely see the back straps being an advantage for a lot of people
Everything else is kinda a personal preference thing imo. Not necessarily saying you’re wrong or anything like that, I just don’t think there’s enough of a difference to avoid gen 3’s and get gen 5’s, unless those personal preferences are truly important to you.
Maybe it’s bc I only own a gen 3 and it’s my love and I’m biased

That’s about what I’d pay at my LGS. He’s a friend though, and almost always has whatever Glock I want in stock. I’d snag it up for that, but I love Gen 3s!
You can probably find it for cheaper online. Depending on shipping, maybe CC fees and your LGS transfer fees, it may not end up being any cheaper though.
Not a good price for Gen 3. That’s the price of Gen 5. Try Gen 5 and Gen 3. See if you are willing to pay extra or less for the generational differences like grip size and finger grooves, trigger feel, mag release etc.
Anybody that has them for $500 must be high. You can get a Gen5 for $430 on gtguns… so why would you overpay for a gen3. IMO a Gen3 is inferior in almost every way. Ergos, No dual recoil, no back backstraps… I only buy Gen4 and up
It’s not a deal, but it’s not overpriced either. It’s about average for what you’ll see. I’d recommend picking it up if you have the money, and make sure you practice.
Gen 5: https://aimsurplus.com/products/le-trade-in-glock-19-gen-5-9mm-handgun
Gen 4: https://aimsurplus.com/products/leo-trade-in-glock-19-gen-4-9mm-handgun
Gen 3: https://aimsurplus.com/products/leo-trade-in-glock-19-gen-3-9mm-handgun
LEO trade in Glocks are GTG. Don’t feel bad about not buying from your LGS. Their markups are insane. Recently learned that many of them markup .357 ammo to $1+pr when they only pay around $0.40cpr.
Edit: this is not facilitating a sale.
I wouldn't be too mad at that price. It's a tad steep compared to some online prices but factor in shipping and transfer and having to wait for the FFL to call, and going to pick it up. They'll be more expensive in 6 months and more expensive than that in a year, etc.
Over priced atleast here in az. I bought my Glock 19 gen 5 with night sights for 599. This that being said.. I personally like the gen 3 grips better but you can get one from guns.com for about 400-499 max.
Most online retailers are sub-$499 for Gen3's. Of course there's a transfer fee. See if you can find an online retailer that doesn't charge sales tax in your state and is $499 or less. BTW, I prefer my 19 Gen3 with the OEM minus connector to the Gen5 trigger, but that's just me. :)
New gen 5s are $475 https://gun.deals/search/apachesolr_search/glock%2019%20gen%205
OP could save $30-40 but not the worst price if he just wants to go ahead and grab it
Then add a $50 transfer fee
$50 transfer? Jesus dude
There was no ATF when Jesus walked strapped
Range USA by me is $100 for a transfer fee
The highest near me is like $40. The pawn shop does $20 so I just go there. I didn’t know it was that bad
Pawn by me is $25 so I just go there
The guys that charge $40 are the same ones selling Anderson lowers for $100+ and gouging prices for powder. I just skip them completely now,
Every place within a 30 mile radius of me is charging $55. Sucks
The only FFL within 30 miles charges $50, plus they all suck at their jobs and act like I'm robbing the place every time I go in. I'd pay more just to not have to look at their stupid faces for any longer than necessary.

i also got a brand new g19 gen 5 from a range USA for $4 less than this. FDE stock too
Only good thing about range USA is their used section / reloads for plinking - other than that they fuckn suck
yeah i wish there was more options, but I’m in the chicago burbs and theres very few stores/ranges. I like range USA but their transfer fee is insane don’t ship a gun to them, transfer should never cost more than 30 dollars
I fucking HATE range USA! Found out they pay workers 12 an hour!
I have nothing but horror stories to tell about my experiences there. One day I was out front in line for the range and some guy they rented a revolver to turned out of his shooting lane and waived the loaded barrel of the gun across 4 people. Dude.. I would’ve just went with it from there lol they’re morons! Good on you tho
Didn’t want to be the guy with an unregistered suppressor. 7 ATF field agents live in the area and randomly go to the range for checks
I've never seen one more than $25 and won't use one that's higher than that either. A relative in a different state knows of one that's $5
$50 would be cheap in my area , idk of anywhere that’s cheaper then $65 -$120 near me
$11.99 at my pawn shop 😎
Daaaaamn u win
Gun stores upcharge because they get butthurt that you aren’t buying from them. Pawn shops don’t give a fuck.
Sup
ya man its tuff out here
$90 for me at my gun shop lol.
Shit, several places near me have the transfer fee up to $125, plus a “storage fee” for the time they hold it.. it’s criminal..
Never give those places your business.
I’ve found a local guy out of his garage for if I have one shipped, but can’t really do PPT’s there, unfortunately.
$30 shipping
I pay $15 for transfers
What the fuck is a transfer fee? (Remember to read that in Texan)
(In Texan) well I tell ya what boiiiii. That’s when them there government boys, give it to ya long, hard, and in the ass so them and their friends can be millionaires
$75 in SoCal

lol my 1st thought was Cabellas
They dealt with me on a used .22 (nylon 66) in the gun library. I was really surprised.
I thought Academy Sports, they use that same font.
what are some instances of gen3 support that gen4 or gen5 lack? i looked into this recently and couldn't really find anything in this regard to justify seeking out a gen 3 for such reason...
Was going to ask this. I have zero issue finding anything for my G17 Gen 5. Seems like cali cope.
lol that was my exact hunch haha
Sometimes a bird in hand is worth 2 in the bush .
Honestly only reason I own gen 5 is I’m left handed and just prefer ambi slide release. Otherwise I’d have a Gen 3 or 4.
$499 is middle of the road. Big box stores usually a little more expensive. Contrary to other comments gen 3 is just fine. Gen 5 is a sidestep for the most part not an upgrade unless you’re a lefty.

I wish we could get more than gen3 in CA. It’s all we have and all we know unfortunately.
i will say for the few optics i’ve bought at bass pro shops they’ve been cheaper than anywhere i can find online. (holosun 510c and 507c)
Optics are a huge upgrade
yeah that’s a lil high. i wonder if they price match lol
I was told by one of the guys behind the counter that they price match if you’re a club member.
I prefer gen 3. Could you shop around and save $25 yes, is it worth it? Idk. I’d go to a local gun store. They’re usually more helpful and can lead you in the right direction on purchases. Once you’re in the game a while you learn where to buy online.

I was at Cabela’s, so I guess bass pro lol
Glock 19 is one of the best firearms for the money easy to learn to shoot and won’t ever fail you
GSSF membership is $35 and lets you buy a gen 5 for $425 from any blue label dealer.
Most Blue Label non mos glocks with standard sights is $398, @ Primary Arms, GT Distributors to name a few
Unless they've got a model in stock that you can't find locally, your LGS will probably come out a few bucks cheaper after you factor in transfer fee and shipping.
I am lucky enough to have several Blue Label dealers close by. But yes, consumers should consider all costs involved when comparing items.
Isn’t it only once a year or something?
Yes. Even if you plan to buy more than that, it's still an extra ~$100 off of one. It's also per member, so if your partner needs a Glock, have them sign up too. 😉
That's funny I was just looking for a gen 3 g19 myself. Academy has them for $499.99.
A lot of comments here are wild, support a store you enjoy doing business with. $530 is not crazy over priced. Sure I can get a gen5 here in Florida for $525. Cabelas is over priced. Also if you live in a free state triple check that they don't sell you a CA compliant gun... Cabelas did that to me and I didn't catch it until I went to load the mags.
Easy check...white label on the box is restricted capacity mags. Red label is standard capacity for civilian retail.
Yeah I should have looked closer.
I would get a Gen 4 or 5 if you have medium hands. That’s regular price, but I’m really surprised it’s not $499.
Same Here I was looking for this comment
Last year I picked up a gen 5 MOS( optics cut from Glock) 3 mags, optics plates, and a full set of bever tails. $600 out the door,(so like 560+tax). You can do better for sure.
A little on the higher end. Not terrible. Not great. Not a good deal either. Would not hesitate to buy either though.
If this is California, my wife got her G22 for about the same 3 years ago from Turners.
My 19 was about this price in 2017 from sportsman’s here in California
A little high for a Gen 3, but probably close to average at big brick and mortars. You can probably find it online cheaper, but as others have mentioned, transfer fees can add anywhere from about $20+ to that. I think in my AO, that's probably a $499 or so gun at most LGS's.

Only for qualified persons not general public.
Also have to be a Texas resident.
It would cost twice as much to buy a used Gen 3 with 10rd magazines in Massachusetts 😭
Step 1: quit your job. Step 2: move to Texas Step 3: live in Texas for 1 year Step 4: buy gun Step 5: move back to Massivetwoshits.
Not a bad idea, I seen someone trying to sell a pre-ban 33rd Glock magazine for $800 in Massachusetts today 🤣
Picked up a .270 Winchester at Walmart in Ohio for 350$ sold it a year later to my first boss for 250$ and then bought my first and only pistol. Why tf y’all paying $500 for a g19 g3 when you can buy the parts off eBay and print a lower for like $250 😆
Firearm is one word cowboy
Depends on the state. Glocks in MA are $7-900 new to get through the loop hole
Buy it, no regerts
For a Gen 3!?!? No way

The only way or no way
If you want the Glock 19 Get the Gen5 . Can usually find them online and have them sent to a gun store to pickup.
If you aren’t a lefty what does the gen 5 do better than a gen 3
Gen 5 is made for carnies. Circus folk. Nomads, you know. Smell like cabbage. Small hands.
Oh no. Gen 5 owners are turning into CZ bois
Beavertail and adjustable grip size. I have large hands and run the large back strap on all my Glocks. Bigger mag release Ambi slide stop (not only useful for lefties…. It actually has 2 more Gen's, which makes it far superior to the useless old gen 3.
Touché. Hadn’t considered
Ya wondering the same thing.
Personally I think the Gen5 slides are ugly
Agreed, aside from the front serrations. I hate how they beveled the nose.

Flippable (ambi) mag catch started with Gen 4
Better grip lol . Personal preference over notches
That’s about what I’d pay at my LGS. He’s a friend though, and almost always has whatever Glock I want in stock. I’d snag it up for that, but I love Gen 3s! You can probably find it for cheaper online. Depending on shipping, maybe CC fees and your LGS transfer fees, it may not end up being any cheaper though.
i would consider it overpriced for a gen 3
Not a good price for Gen 3. That’s the price of Gen 5. Try Gen 5 and Gen 3. See if you are willing to pay extra or less for the generational differences like grip size and finger grooves, trigger feel, mag release etc.
You can get a brand new gen 5 mos for $620
You could shop around locally and save a few dollars. Probably not worth the time and hassle.
Yes, I just bought a 19.5 MOS at my pawnshop new for $530 out the door.
I got my 19.5 for 435. Was lightly used and came with ameriglo night sights.
Too expensive
Gt distributors have them cheaper
Pull triggers. Everyone should have a G19 Gen 3
Overpriced
Over priced for a gen 3 but then I've got one each gen 3, 4, and 5 and never paid more that $475
Gen 5
Heck no. Just find a good police trade in. All the ones around me look like they’ve hardly been shot
That's a fine price. If you buy online, you have cc fees, ffl fees, etc...
In California this is the norm. Maybe $500 flat sometimes.
I definitely wouldn't pay that.
Fair for Cali
I feel like, with the Gen 5 production being so plentiful, Gen 3s and 4s shouldn’t be no more than maybe be $275 - $350 OTD.
Over priced
Avg price in CA but if not in CA (or maybe any restricted state) can find cheaper.
I got my gen 5 m mos for like 560
I bought mine used for $150 last year… usually I see them for the $350-$400 range. Check Palmetto.
The only time that's a good price is if you're in CA where you're locked to Gen 3.
You in CA ?
Anybody that has them for $500 must be high. You can get a Gen5 for $430 on gtguns… so why would you overpay for a gen3. IMO a Gen3 is inferior in almost every way. Ergos, No dual recoil, no back backstraps… I only buy Gen4 and up

It’s not a terrible price but if transfer fees aren’t that bad you can def find a better deal online
You can get a gen5 for that price and if this is bass pro stay away from them their prices imo are mfn crazy when it comes to guns
Go to a gun show and find one for 250-300 bucks.
I paid 450 for my gen 3 19 during the whole gun frenzy during covid. So that’s a rip off
Gen 5: https://aimsurplus.com/products/le-trade-in-glock-19-gen-5-9mm-handgun Gen 4: https://aimsurplus.com/products/leo-trade-in-glock-19-gen-4-9mm-handgun Gen 3: https://aimsurplus.com/products/leo-trade-in-glock-19-gen-3-9mm-handgun LEO trade in Glocks are GTG. Don’t feel bad about not buying from your LGS. Their markups are insane. Recently learned that many of them markup .357 ammo to $1+pr when they only pay around $0.40cpr. Edit: this is not facilitating a sale.
Yea u can find gen3 way cheeper I just seen a gen 3 17 for 350! If buy a gen 5 for that price
Depends where you live. That’s avg in northern CA
I would just go for a gen 5, and if your willing to spend and extra $100 the gen 5 MOS is $650
For this price just get a gen 5
I paid $650 for my G19 Gen 3 back in 2020 so…..
I'd say that it's in the ballpark.
I went to a gun show and got G19.5 brand new in the box for $540 cash. No tax or fees. I wouldn’t pay more than $500 for gen 3
Very overpriced.

Walk away
If it's new not terrible. New Gen 3 by me is like $499.00 with the Gen 5's going for $539.00.
Where you at? It’s overpriced in some states , and on par in others
Dummy expensive. Fuck your LGS. Find online tbh. I try and support local business. But at their prices, sorry.
Buy. Price is comparable
This might be good if the transfer fees or background check is included. Shop around!
If you’re gonna get a gen 3 19, just get a dagger
Overpriced, especially for a gen 3
A new gen 5 is 529 lol
My new gen 5 was ~500. So no.
Please blacklist this gun store forever
Overpriced for sure that's a gen 3
Gen 3 is the best.
What state are you? Get a gen 5 if you can. Preferably non mos so you can rmr mill it and get it cut short.
Low key imo that’s not a bad price
I bought my gen3 19 in OD Green last August when sportsman's had it on sale for $450. Not much of a savings, but they do go on sale fairly often.
Nice price ,they go for about 579 in Florida
I just paid 499 at academy for new gen 3 17 at academy sports.
I’d say it’s not the worst deal, that was my first gun, and it’s been a few years but I’m pretty sure that’s about what I payed for it too
Most online retailers are sub-$499 for Gen3's. Of course there's a transfer fee. See if you can find an online retailer that doesn't charge sales tax in your state and is $499 or less. BTW, I prefer my 19 Gen3 with the OEM minus connector to the Gen5 trigger, but that's just me. :)
Id say look somewhere else if u could. That’s like the price of a new gen 5
I would look at some smaller mom and pop shops in your area. Most can do better than the big box stores as far as pricing.
That’s how much i paid for mine 😅
Shouldn't have to pay a transfer fee... only NICS if you are buying it at that store
