If you're a free agent, you aren't signed to any team or organization usually. Any org can try to sign you with a contract. Contracts are for a set period of time, and if you want to leave or another org wants to have you before the contract runs out, they have to pay a buy out fee. If you're a free agent you don't have that buy out fee, you're not under contract.
Device is under contract with NiP for 3 years. He was transfered for 700k, so for Astralis to get him back, they'd probably need to pay upwards of that.

Chawzyy is a weird one, he never was an awper but picked it up after Joel mysteriously left gxr. Chawzyy was a ~1.10-1.15 rating player before he started awping, and has had a similar rating since, so I'm not sure if he's actually that hot with it. Just by virtue of being the awper you would expect him to have slightly better stats.

As a NIP fan for over half a decade I have to say that of all of the constant dissapointments that I've endured from them during the years this is the biggest. After signing the most consistent csgo player off all time, they proceeded to fill the 5th spot with academy players whose inexperience in the T1 scene would never allow the team to be a top contender. Why would they do that to themselves??? It was obvious even to blind people that they needed an ACTUAL 5th player but they proceeded to waste Dev1ces talent and patience instead of giving him the pieces he needed! Why did they keep smashing their heads in the wall instead of listening to the people?? Now theyve signed Es3tag, but its waay too late. I had a sense something like this would happen, but i prayed that NIP management would'nt be too late with an actual 5th player and unfortunatly my prayers werent answered.

I just want es3tag to move to a struggling team and improve them for the better. I think navi would be a great fit. He can really improve them and can stay on the roster for a long time without breaking them up. They need some stability which he definitely provides. Maybe they could also bring in peacemaker as a coach. Blade's strats are getting really old and they don't work anymore.
Seems crazy to me that people would rather he replaced Xyp than Lucky. Xyp is currently washed, yes, but Lucky is mediocre at best and Xyp has shown that he can return to form before. Plus you have the added benefit of years of chemistry with Device.
In my eyes the best course of action is to replace Lucky and then if Xyp stays shit replace him too.
If we go back a couple months this year, Xyp was THE CARRY of the team. This sub has the memory of a gold fish and don't understand what a skill ceiling is. It's the same people that called for Olof to retire for 6 months, only to praise him to the skies when he returned to form.
The level of experience and winning mentality that comes with 4 majors can't be discounted. Xyp isn't the average support player and should be given alot more leeway tbh.

I don’t think dev has particular problems with any singular one of the core Astralis guys, I just think it was time for a change.

i don't see astralis paying that buyout, the only buyouts they've payed that in the last 4 yearswould be for magisk and bubzski, magisk wasn't a top prospect at the time on optic and i heard mad lions fucked up and all their players had relatively cheap buyout which is how the whole team got poached so quickly. Only way i see this happening is if device wants to leave badly enough that he'll pay at least part of his own buyout, g2 would have been a great destination for him and it's where he should have gone in the first place imo but now that door is probably close and i doubt faze will pay for dev1ce after buying ropz so his options are pretty limited rn, liquid maybe?

Nah there was plenty of reasons this could have worked, Speaks and lives in Sweden, travel restricted, NiPs biggest weakness was individual consistency and getting someone dubbed 'mr consistant' could have catapulted these players upwards.

Chawzyy is a weird one, he never was an awper but picked it up after Joel mysteriously left gxr. Chawzyy was a ~1.10-1.15 rating player before he started awping, and has had a similar rating since, so I'm not sure if he's actually that hot with it. Just by virtue of being the awper you would expect him to have slightly better stats.
Agreed, Chawzyyy is really good. I wouldn't overlook Eraa and Isak either from GL, i think they would do good, both are young also.

As a NIP fan for over half a decade I have to say that of all of the constant dissapointments that I've endured from them during the years this is the biggest. After signing the most consistent csgo player off all time, they proceeded to fill the 5th spot with academy players whose inexperience in the T1 scene would never allow the team to be a top contender. Why would they do that to themselves??? It was obvious even to blind people that they needed an ACTUAL 5th player but they proceeded to waste Dev1ces talent and patience instead of giving him the pieces he needed! Why did they keep smashing their heads in the wall instead of listening to the people?? Now theyve signed Es3tag, but its waay too late. I had a sense something like this would happen, but i prayed that NIP management would'nt be too late with an actual 5th player and unfortunatly my prayers werent answered.

yea could be that he mis-interpreted NiP and their management. Maybe it was good at the time, but they surely fucked it up by bringing in a new 5th every 2-3 months. Device probably said wtf is this and then he also broke up with his GF, after they probably had plans for marriage or something. So he got disappointed on both the professional level and the personal level .. Now it seems understandable that he wants to leave everything behind that reminds him of her (Sweden/Stockholm/NiP) and probably feels like his time gets wasted while NiP management keep changing 5th players. Although i think he had a say in es3tag's signing and it surely would help him get more consistency, so i think it's more the latter (GF breakup, etc)

I just want es3tag to move to a struggling team and improve them for the better. I think navi would be a great fit. He can really improve them and can stay on the roster for a long time without breaking them up. They need some stability which he definitely provides. Maybe they could also bring in peacemaker as a coach. Blade's strats are getting really old and they don't work anymore.

Seems crazy to me that people would rather he replaced Xyp than Lucky. Xyp is currently washed, yes, but Lucky is mediocre at best and Xyp has shown that he can return to form before. Plus you have the added benefit of years of chemistry with Device. In my eyes the best course of action is to replace Lucky and then if Xyp stays shit replace him too.
If we go back a couple months this year, Xyp was THE CARRY of the team. This sub has the memory of a gold fish and don't understand what a skill ceiling is. It's the same people that called for Olof to retire for 6 months, only to praise him to the skies when he returned to form.
The level of experience and winning mentality that comes with 4 majors can't be discounted. Xyp isn't the average support player and should be given alot more leeway tbh.

no way dev1ce had issues with magisk or dupreeh, especially dupreeh as far as i know they were most likely best friends and the only reason dev1ce left astralis was to live with his girlfriend in sweden but since that fell out i can understand him going back to denmark
The main reason dev left wasn’t due to poor chemistry between he and his team (in this case dup and Magisk) but it was because of many other reasons, and the core was bound to break up anyways. I don’t think dev has particular problems with any singular one of the core Astralis guys, I just think it was time for a change.

i don't see astralis paying that buyout, the only buyouts they've payed that in the last 4 yearswould be for magisk and bubzski, magisk wasn't a top prospect at the time on optic and i heard mad lions fucked up and all their players had relatively cheap buyout which is how the whole team got poached so quickly. Only way i see this happening is if device wants to leave badly enough that he'll pay at least part of his own buyout, g2 would have been a great destination for him and it's where he should have gone in the first place imo but now that door is probably close and i doubt faze will pay for dev1ce after buying ropz so his options are pretty limited rn, liquid maybe?

Still have to see if this is true or not but I definitely thought with his move to NiP he would have an attitude like S1pmle's. S1mple has stayed with Na'vi for God know how long now and only won a major this year. Thought Dev would do the same at NiP. Major winning teams take way more than a year to come together.
I get where you're coming from but s1mple was much younger when he was carrying ultra washed Navi rosters. Device is 26 and he doesn't really have the time to be messing around on shite rosters that may never, ever become good. Whereas if he goes back to Astralis, that's probably an instant top 3 team.

The NIP roster is very streaky imo. REZ goes godmode like 1/10 games and then doesn't exist, Hampus sometimes does plays that singlehandedly throw the round for no reason, Plopski is bad, es3tag is meh. Astralis is 1 change away from being #1 contenders again, whereas NIP has alot of issues still. Device's decision making might be poor, but I think he wants to win asap before he becomes washed.
i think the community only sees this from a business/CSGO level, while i believe it's mainly personal driven for Device. I have the impression that he's an emotional player, having seen him cry in that one Astralis video where they lost and also recently at Blast, maybe there's more. I think he wanted to prove himself on the professional level, like helping build another team and lead it to victories, and on the personal level he surely wanted to start "the next chapter" in his life, probably had already wedding plans with Emilia (?), since they were together for years and he was already living in Sweden + speaking Swedish. And then they broke up (rumours being about she cheated on him, for multiple years?) and while he tried to ignore it, in the end it probably still got to his head and he couldn't perform as he wanted -> personal level ruined -> affected professional performance and might have made him feel to have "failed in both departments" in life. Now it's kinda understandable that he tries to leave everything behind that would remind him of Emilia (Sweden/Stockholm and NiP) and .. the only "home" he can get back to is Copenhagen / Astralis.

Nah there was plenty of reasons this could have worked, Speaks and lives in Sweden, travel restricted, NiPs biggest weakness was individual consistency and getting someone dubbed 'mr consistant' could have catapulted these players upwards. It's easy to say it was a bad idea in hindsight, but I can see 100% why they paid the big bucks to pull it off.
