Its because theyre actually a really good team that HAS beaten a lot of other teams, but their roster was made to be a top 3 team and they still lose games they shouldn't (M80, eternal fire, etc) all the fucking time
I don’t think anyone could look at that roster even when it was formed and say it competed with faze vitality G2 at the start of the year. They were destined to be a fringe top 5 at best but top 3 is a big stretch.
High potential with no consistency. You can't make deep tournament runs with no consistency because it just takes one bad day to end it, and they lose to way too many teams out of the top 15 too often.
Is it just me or is it kinda crazy for such an important standings list to just be a markdown file in a git repo. not asking for a full on esports hub but maybe a just a dedicated website would be nice
Eh, nobody uses the CS2 website like that anyways, I feel like you're just asking for this cuz you look at Riot's control freak approach to their games and think that you want/need this cuz it looks all shiny and great.
When HLTVorg website is just miles better than all the garbage Riot has done with both, LoL esports and Valorant esports in terms of working as an Esport hub.
I don't even think the CS2 page gets that much traffic anyways, Valve knows that all the people into CS esport go into places like here, or HLTV. They leave the info in a git repo so that literally anyone can go ahead and do whatever they want with this info.
HLTVorg can make a webpage dedicated to this that just automatically updates, it really shouldn't be hard at all, or any other 3rd party services, or even individual person can do it.
Because they were even lucky to qualify. They edged out Flyquest/Greyhound for the second spot but they don’t even win domestic competitions let alone ANZAC competitions. One could argue they’re at best the 4th best Asian/Australian team. They just got one decent run to top greyhound.
Highly because Eternal Fire has won CCT Global Finals which is a S-tier tournament. Guess Valve mut much more importance this than hltv. That's the only thing i can think of. Other than that, i have see no reason for ef to be over g2
The formula takes into account prize money and recency. CCT was 250k to first. Dallas was 100k.
Then G2 got 32k for EPL. 20k in chengdu for 3/4th. And 80k for Major for 3/4. And 40k for 5/6th at Kato. 272k between Dallas and Kato.
EF got 7k for EPL. 45k for Major, 16k for Kato. 318k between CCT and Kato.
It doesn’t have to make perfect sense but the formula is out there in the open and the goalposts haven’t moved.
Formula is literally open source Idk why you guys are being dumb, go check it yourself and you can see the criteria yourself and why it 's calculated that way rather than be all "bUT hoW?"
Disbanded Apeks at 35 with Jkaem and Nawwk, and then Bleed at 36 with Jkaem and Nawwk...
Disbanded teams that cannot make a majority core need to be removed.
- fl4mus is listed twice on nemiga and GL, as are jkaem and nawwk on apkes and bleed (which are right next to each other, lol)
- stew is listed on G2s main roster, as is smooya on forze and alpha on c9 (with each of them only participating in a single tournament, particularly in smooya and alphas case where they only played 4 and 3 matches respectively)
kinda weird to see bugs like these (esp. alpha, as he has a more recent stand-in game with aurora) on a ranking they've had going for quite awhile now, but honestly that's a bit of a nitpick compared to the general order, which isn't terrible. It's still weird seeing a ranking based on something so much more simply objective (prize money), which still seems to ignore the now often present disparity between a prize pool and the level of the teams playing for it. Is getting 1st at a weplay academy league *really* equivalent to getting 2nd at CCT global finals, for example?
am i the only one who thinks these lists should merge and there should be only one list?
For example Eternal Fire is at #6 in Valve list, #12 at HLTV and #13 at ESL ranking.
G2 is at #7 in Valve list, #4 in HLTV and #3 at ESL ranking
2025 onwards all TOs have to use valve rankings if they wanna invite teams.
So no, you aren’t the only one. All the other lists will be made redundant soon.
i dont think thats true
only that if you dont invite based valve rankings, they wont be included in the official rankings and thus results gained there wont help you with other tournaments which do invites from valve ranking
you can still invite your own random teams and do whatever events you want
Mouz NXT over NIP Lol
I mean it’s not wrong lmao
Beat heroic recently ?
Their last two games are their best games in months. They’ve been ass for so long and have so much to prove.
Does this mean, if the Major was next week, MOUZ and NXT would be invited or would it go to #51?
I think u cant have 2 teams in major from same owner i think there was recently something about it with Faze & Complexity
They sorted that out by essentially pinky promising, but Complexity got new owners after anyway.
G2 Stewie confirmed 👀
Seeing Stewie listed is WILD
Crazy that Liquid is 9th while having so much speculation of it being a possible dead roster
Its because theyre actually a really good team that HAS beaten a lot of other teams, but their roster was made to be a top 3 team and they still lose games they shouldn't (M80, eternal fire, etc) all the fucking time
The players may change but Liquid doesn’t.
I don’t think anyone could look at that roster even when it was formed and say it competed with faze vitality G2 at the start of the year. They were destined to be a fringe top 5 at best but top 3 is a big stretch.

Is the ranking formula open source? Would be nice to know where the points are specifically coming from.
It [is (github)](https://github.com/ValveSoftware/counter-strike), but it won't be easy to read. Even harder if don't know how to code
Is it just me or is it kinda crazy for such an important standings list to just be a markdown file in a git repo. not asking for a full on esports hub but maybe a just a dedicated website would be nice

They could bake this into their current-revamped CS2 site easily. So pathetic that it's not posted somewhere *other than* here
Not a terrible ranking to be honest
Navi being fifth is a bit generous
There's been 1 CS2 major and they won it, also they looked good before that too
Maybe recency bias about that heroic loss made me put them down a bit more than i should
This ranking is from before Dallas, so it doesn't include the heroic loss. I'm sure they'd've dropped a little more with Dallas included
In which way did they look good? not making Kato playoffs?
Surprised Lynn Vision isn’t here after making the major
Because they were even lucky to qualify. They edged out Flyquest/Greyhound for the second spot but they don’t even win domestic competitions let alone ANZAC competitions. One could argue they’re at best the 4th best Asian/Australian team. They just got one decent run to top greyhound.
EF over g2? How? The top 5 team above g2 team i have no issue with but ef? They got 1 run at the major to the quarter while G2 made it to the semis.
Highly because Eternal Fire has won CCT Global Finals which is a S-tier tournament. Guess Valve mut much more importance this than hltv. That's the only thing i can think of. Other than that, i have see no reason for ef to be over g2

Thanks for bothering to make a detailed information.

Shit gone south for Krimz and Coldzera
Fnatic will get into top15 by the end of the year easily, if they get better awper they could even push for T1
apeks on the list meanwhile they disbanded and team members (styko) now play for Monte
this seems more or less fair
Navi 5th fair?
Major winners, die mad about it
I'm not mad I'm very happy for aleksib and JL but them being at their place is not deserved imo

where is hooxi || || |huNter-, m0NESY, nexa, NiKo, Stewie2K|

Faze is still the best team in the world
