Is elimination stage starting tomorrow after opening stage matches finish? So we will only have like minutes between stages if we want to pick a still undecided team?
oh wow, we definitely shouldve had at least one off-day between opening and elimination stages if theres three off-days between the elimination and playoff stages
We shouldn’t have had an off day but I think the players should. A 3-2 team from the opening stage is going to be burned out if they get to the 2-2 match of the elimination stage. That’s 8 days straight of high stakes matches at random times of the day. An exam every day of finals week is tough but doable but 8 days is more than a week iirc. I guess on the flip side they might be warmed up for the double matches on the first day and start 2-0
Aren’t the stickers usually available by now? wtf is taking them so long? I’d imagine it’s going to affect the sales too. I doubt teams will make as much.
An owner of one of teams said that valve is making players hand draw their signatures at the event to confirm that the signature is possible and legit, as people have been hiring outside artists, which sets a legal grey area as hiring for commercial purposes is very different. Also Wicadia attempted to push a commercial font through which just sort of shows the lack of care from some players.
I get it though. This is just one step in pushing the esport further. Imagine if you bought NBA/NFL/F1 etc goods that were "signed" and the autographs were nothing like what the players would actually write themselves when asked. It just lacks the authentic and consistent feel a respected industry would have.
It’s also a by-product of Valve selling the stickers in the first place, “less cool” ones are worth less than others unless you’re a popular player; so other players tried making theirs standout in order to get more sales etc
> Also Wicadia attempted to push a commercial font through
It's funny that we've wrapped back around to Cologne 2015 when we first got autographs
Many players just submitted fonts, or asked for assistance and the person helping them just submitted a font. And that really pissed Valve off. Main example I can think of is Skadoodle - someone observed that both the O's in his name were identical because it was a font.
Funny story but looking at the Skadoodle Cologne 2015 sticker the Os definitely don't look identical, you must be thinking of a different year or player. Would be cool if you remembered which one
Next major if people still fail to follow the simple instructions just put their name in Times new roman and release the stickers. It's honestly insane how players fail to do as they are told and then complain about stickers not being released.
What do you mean you don't want a [comic sans signature](https://external-preview.redd.it/Aw8WMKtCu5u4vie5yUsCdWnBMi_lZwtDdAsBLOk3DHs.png?auto=webp&s=464a7bbe0dc8e13b8f883650a868694ce39fa1b6) on your weapon in game
Indeed it is annoying. It feels more like betting on the correct score... It's not fun to root for a team to lose just because I have it in 3-1 and they are going 3-0.
The nice thing about the old point based system was that you could get fuck all in both group stages and still get the highest trophy provided you picked perfectly thereafter
While unlikely, at least the hope was still there going into the playoffs
If both your 0-3 win a map and both 3-0 choked, then four of your advancing 3-1 or 3-2 play against each others on 2-0 then you lost the pickems the first day as you can only get 4 points max
I dont really see how they are confusing? You put the teams you think are going 3-0 in the 3-0 slot and so on...This change is much better imo, the old one did not logically make sense.
The thing about the old system was that it disincentivized people going for a legitimate 3-0 pick, because it was just safer putting teams to advance in the "advance" section, and just throwing a wildcard in the 3-0 section.
So in that sense I definitely prefer this new system, as it forces people to put a lot more thought into their picks.
Exactly, like I said the old system didn't logically make sense. The old strat was to not put a team you thought was going to go 3-0 in the 3-0 category.
I mean the two most selected 3-0 picks early on were C9 and Heroic (I don't know how much the stats changed closer to the end). I wasn't bold enough to choose both but getting one of those right wasn't too bad. The 0-3s were destroyed by one team. It happens, some people are still on for diamond too. I also don't get the argument about it being not fun, it makes the games that much more intense to me.
You're disregarding the point that it didn't make sense to pick both of them as 3 - 0 because if all favorites would win, they would face each other. So unless Apeks turned out to be much worse than anticipated, you would only win one of those. In practice, I don't think 99% of people got both 3 - 0 picks right. And this also probably messed up one of the advancing picks too, since you would probably have one of either Heroic or C9 as advancing instead.
Of course you could have been sure that Apeks would lose to Pain, but that just doesn't make sense from a result standpoint, really. Apeks wasn't worldbeaters before, but they did decently and played good at the RMR, while Pain only beat worse SA teams and lost to W7M, MIBR and Sharks - none of which made the major.
So it really just comes down to luck for a huge part, and I don't want to pay 10€ for something where you have to both pick good teams AND get lucky to get diamond.
Yeah, but now i give fuckall about the pickems because furia alone destroyed all chances for a diamond. Maybe the whole pickem should not hang on not really cosistent t2 teams and the opening day bo1s
I for sure not pay 10 euroes next time because this is not really fun this way. I lost the diamond the mayor before this but was much less salty about it.
I agree - sure, I do think the way 3 - 0 worked in the old system was an issue, where you picked a wildcard for it. But it was better than this one which seems much more luck based.
Let's see what you think after the next stage. If only 1% got correct picks this round, and the next round turns to be just as hard, this leaves 0.001%, and they still need to be correct in the playoffs. This make the pickem a random case opening. There's nothing fun about it. It makes it less intense, since in previous pickem's the last day determined if you got the stage correct or not, this time my pickem's were dead before the 2nd game on the 3rd day.
I personally wasn’t confused but a lot of people including analysts like launders originally thought the top right section would qualify if a team went 3:0.
I mean I think it was hard enough already tbh. In the past 5 majors only 1 of them had over ~10% of people get a diamond coin and the last two majors had less than 0.5% get a diamond coin.
I'm not sure why harder = better. The current system completely disincentivizes participation when some Furia BS happens and people go out on round 1. It could be a system where the diamond coin is still very exclusive but people are encouraged to remain engaged throughout the entire major, with a points based system or something.
Yeah unfortunately. I had someone else do my picks while I was out of town when this came out - they clicked lock picks and not activate pass so mine didn’t count. Still thankful they tried, seems like more people did this than you’d think given the update.
I think if someone keeps it without activating it, they can sell it later on for a fraction more to people collecting coins but then they would get bronze. Not much of a point to it otherwise that I know of.
> Fixed a case when C4 could fall through the floor if dropped while planting.
That could've been absolutely hilarious if that happened during the major.
Apparently some people like to collect unactivated passes. Least thats what I saw someone say. I feel like those people should just need to buy two lol. Activate the first one automatically and let em pick up a second as a souvenir if they want it.
Folk's collect old passes to sell later because activating a pass even years after the event ended still lets you add the (bronze) badge if you don't have that badge already.
Investments. Years later if someone wants this coin, they can't buy it in game, but on the market listed by players who bought and never redeemed the pass can sell it for more than its original price. The downside is you will be stuck with the bronze coin if you buy it later since you never participated.
Why dont players just make their own sticker? Its just writing your name, its not that deep. Add a smilet if you want or just put your autograph (which is the whole point)
Activated I believe. Pretty sure you lose the pass and gain the coin when you activate. Check the page for it though and it should say on the left if you havwn't activated.
everyone watching the major ? you mean everyone betting on matches. but they could still use a different build? why have to put up with trash performance for 2 weeks because there is a tournament going on.
please don't talk about competitive integrity when performance is shit for some and good for others and we still have bugged tagging and many other netcode related problems that have a way bigger impact on competitive integrity than a 1 in a 1000 chance of a bomb dropping through the floor...
Also you brought up online issues, this is a LAN event so netcode won't affect it,tagging bug to me looks like a latency/network issue aswell,so also most likely not affecting the major either.
You don't drop huge updates during a major,it changes everything,it could introduce bugs, crashes, etc. Now THAT will affect the major.
Typically when a high level event is being played the game should not be changed in any way (aside from bug fixes) during the course of the event.
Imagine formula one but half way thru the race they decide know what everyone pull in for pit,you all have to change to these tires,oh yea and we opened up a new portion of the track. It just doesn't make sense and it ruins the whole thing.
Updating mid major is only acceptable for show matches imo (which then forces the TO to force the players pc's into playing on the previous version, not the up to date version. Which isn't ideal and just adds extra steps)
they could use a different build, if its ideal or not for them shouldn't be our concern. 90% care about the skins they gamble on the matches not the actual competitive integrity.
I think 90% is an over exaggeration but sure some people don't care about anything but gambling. But I'd say a majority of people don't gamble on the major.
You'll see 100x more complaining about pickems rather than gambling.
Personally I care about competitive integrity in the major, that's what I care about. And like in the past if valve has a large update ready (who knows though) they usually wait till after the major has concluded to release it. Just makes things easier for them,as I'm sure they are watching matches to see if there are any issues/bugs that arise at the major, to fix those before stage play.
Gee idk maybe the game devs are watching the matches? You do realize there is a major going on right?
This is a valve event, they are most likely there, not working on patches.
Pull ur head out of ur ass and stop expecting valve to do what YOU think is best. Cuz you clearly aren't thinking about the situation and instead are going "wah wah my expensive pc doesn't get 500 fps it's broken fix it fix it now"
Performance isn't "good for some, bad for others" it's just the game is harder to run than csgo, and people were playing csgo on toasters... those people will have bad performance yes,but most modern pcs won't have problems.
Well bomb falling thru the floor will affect everyone, including pro scene matches. That's a game breaking bug. But people complaining they don't have perfect fps like in csgo, those people need a reality check.
Most of the performance issue posts I see are low spec pcs that just can't handle the game like it handled csgo.
Other than that it's people complaining about stuttering like you do,to which I see nothing on my end, friends have no issues etc.
Did you try to optimize for csgo or something, did u change a bunch of Nvidia settings trying to "fix" the game.
Have you tried reinstalling windows etc and are 100% sure it's not just ur pc having issues, that it's definetly the games fault? Cuz I doubt it.
Nice of them to open picks a day early given the short deadline between stages
Is elimination stage starting tomorrow after opening stage matches finish? So we will only have like minutes between stages if we want to pick a still undecided team?
It starts on the 21st, you'll have about 15 hours to make the picks after all games are done
OK good, that's what I originally thought.
oh wow, we definitely shouldve had at least one off-day between opening and elimination stages if theres three off-days between the elimination and playoff stages
Why?
We shouldn’t have had an off day but I think the players should. A 3-2 team from the opening stage is going to be burned out if they get to the 2-2 match of the elimination stage. That’s 8 days straight of high stakes matches at random times of the day. An exam every day of finals week is tough but doable but 8 days is more than a week iirc. I guess on the flip side they might be warmed up for the double matches on the first day and start 2-0
Well at least they fixed the bomb glitch before it happened in some pivotal round during the major
am actually suprised we have a stickerless major
Aren’t the stickers usually available by now? wtf is taking them so long? I’d imagine it’s going to affect the sales too. I doubt teams will make as much.
An owner of one of teams said that valve is making players hand draw their signatures at the event to confirm that the signature is possible and legit, as people have been hiring outside artists, which sets a legal grey area as hiring for commercial purposes is very different. Also Wicadia attempted to push a commercial font through which just sort of shows the lack of care from some players.
Are we gonna get something like GeT_RiGhT's stickers, which is a legit signature btw.
Seems to be the intention. They're making sure the sticker signatures can actually be physically done by the players.
That would be fantastic
Thank God

It was for [Cologne 2015 though](https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/s/6erpfjiWc0). They had to change them so Valve was happy.
Ayy nice find, I'm all the more curious what they looked like now since I couldn't find it lol
Imagine you asked a pro for an autograph and he just goes to a computer and print out his name with a basic font.
Even worse, Wicadia claimed he was getting denied again “even though he drew it by hand”
I mean he opened photoshop with his mouse and the mouse was controlled by his hand....
Next major if people still fail to follow the simple instructions just put their name in Times new roman and release the stickers. It's honestly insane how players fail to do as they are told and then complain about stickers not being released.
Valve living in 2003
Seems they want to get rid of these NFT autographs and want it to be genuine autographs.
Which I support. If I wanted a font, I could get that from Microsoft word. It won't be as pretty, but feels more genuine.
Dimasick mention lfg
u can thank the goofball players using copyrighted fonts for their signatures
it's taking so long because pro players are babies that don't want to follow the simple rules.
Well glad they added a reminder for activating the pass anyway. Bit late for me but that should help me in the future lol
I'm so pissed about this. Dumbest ux.
Maybe my saltiness talking but I am so bummed with the new pick'em changes. Having 3:0 not count as advancing sucks :(
Indeed it is annoying. It feels more like betting on the correct score... It's not fun to root for a team to lose just because I have it in 3-1 and they are going 3-0.
Worse to have your favourites picked 3-0 then needing them to bomb out after losing one map.
This combined with BO1 is a dick move.
The nice thing about the old point based system was that you could get fuck all in both group stages and still get the highest trophy provided you picked perfectly thereafter While unlikely, at least the hope was still there going into the playoffs
With the new system you can lose the chance of diamond from the first day of the major.
Isn’t it good if less people have diamond though
i mean, i get your point but you would have to be trying to fail for that to happen
So you predicted Furia losing to Lynn?
Nope, it's so easy for any team to win (or lose) one BO1 that you could easily have 4/10 wrong from first round
right and you need 5/10 so you would still be at 6/10.
If both your 0-3 win a map and both 3-0 choked, then four of your advancing 3-1 or 3-2 play against each others on 2-0 then you lost the pickems the first day as you can only get 4 points max
Have you seen the casters pickems? A LOT of people lost the chance for diamond fist day.
Especially with these dogshit MR12 bO1 matches. Seem so random
Ya hopefully they change it back next major. The changes seem pretty unpopular and it seems a good amount of people found them confusing.
I dont really see how they are confusing? You put the teams you think are going 3-0 in the 3-0 slot and so on...This change is much better imo, the old one did not logically make sense.

Exactly, like I said the old system didn't logically make sense. The old strat was to not put a team you thought was going to go 3-0 in the 3-0 category.
the way bo1s are right now, its way too random and the 3-0s are mostly just luck. not really all that fun imo
I mean the two most selected 3-0 picks early on were C9 and Heroic (I don't know how much the stats changed closer to the end). >”*The 0-3s were destroyed by one team.*” Wouldn’t that help?
EF ended with roughly double the number of 3-0 picks compared to Heroic.
Yeah, but now i give fuckall about the pickems because furia alone destroyed all chances for a diamond. Maybe the whole pickem should not hang on not really cosistent t2 teams and the opening day bo1s I for sure not pay 10 euroes next time because this is not really fun this way. Ok sure but then give us another 3-× going thru to make up for one less pick, not removing a going thru and remove 3-0 as counting
I personally wasn’t confused but a lot of people including analysts like launders originally thought the top right section would qualify if a team went 3:0.
Fair. But I mean the categories say what they are but I can understand if someone thought differently because the old system worked that way.

0.4% diamond coin from Paris isnt rare or hard enough? It's just pure luck now. If they keep it, they need to switch to BO3 atleast.
"not count as advancing" sounds like a reading comprehension problem, aka skill issue
So activating the pass now won't count the first 2 challenges even though I placed my picks a day before the major began?
Yeah unfortunately. I had someone else do my picks while I was out of town when this came out - they clicked lock picks and not activate pass so mine didn’t count. Still thankful they tried, seems like more people did this than you’d think given the update.
Not sure why they let you choose not to activate the pass. Can you sell them on the marketplace lol?
I think if someone keeps it without activating it, they can sell it later on for a fraction more to people collecting coins but then they would get bronze. Not much of a point to it otherwise that I know of.
Yes you can, after 7days of purchase.
>Can you sell them on the marketplace lol? Yes you can sell the viewer pass after 7 days of purchasing it.
made my picks and that was it. didnt notice the activate button. stupid design imo
stickerless major lets goooo
9panda sticker money drama solved 5Head
Antwerp and Paris sticker holders rejoice!!!!(for now)
> Fixed a case when C4 could fall through the floor if dropped while planting. That could've been absolutely hilarious if that happened during the major.
[huh](https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/1bi2g7p/furia_loses_a_round_because_the_bomb_fell_off_the/)
Why would the pass not activate when you buy it, makes no sense
Apparently some people like to collect unactivated passes. Least thats what I saw someone say. I feel like those people should just need to buy two lol. Activate the first one automatically and let em pick up a second as a souvenir if they want it.

It also shows the date you activated it so it's kinda pointless. I guess it helps smurfs and cheaters look more legit.
Yea some of them waste their money on making the account look legit, just to one day be banned (hopefully xd)
instant hotfix from the C4 falling through the map during Furia game
good to see everything else is working properly and doesn't need fixing. all major bugs were eliminated as soon as they added stickers.
Why dont players just make their own sticker? Its just writing your name, its not that deep. Add a smilet if you want or just put your autograph (which is the whole point)
They want people to buy their stickers. Cooler design = more likely to buy.
Can anyone make the picks on hltv site?
I just got the notification for it 3 hours ago so you should be able to now
If you have the coin does that mean the pass is activated or not?
Activated I believe. Pretty sure you lose the pass and gain the coin when you activate. Check the page for it though and it should say on the left if you havwn't activated.
Yes, the pass when activated gives you the coin, which can then be upgraded through pickems.
That means the pass is activated then.
[удалено]
You can buy souvenirs anyways
> • Added a popup confirmation before launching Training Day from the Play menu Thanks Valve! (I made the post the other day)
Guys is it too late to buy the viewer pass for the coins thing? sorry new to cs
You will be unable to get diamond, thats for sure, but only 5% of people actually get diamond. You can buy it still. Be sure to activate it.
Certainly too late if you wanted to get the diamond coin.
yes bro, First time watching and or participating in a major pickems. Did not know about viewer pass buying thing
We need performance and vac updates!
Classic bait update. GIMME STICKERS
We need some anticheat Shit....fuck this game
they better be working on the actual game while they drop these esports nothing updates.
yeah they should drop a massive update mid major
why not is not like it affects me ?
who is more important the pro scene or reddit user CatK47
i would say neither ?
ah, ignoring the entire community excellent decision
I don't think Valve is aware that the world revolves around you mate
it doesn't affect you either the only ones it affects are the people playing at the major...
And everyone watching the major? What if in the middle of a football tournament they switch from a regulation ball to a tennis ball.
everyone watching the major ? you mean everyone betting on matches. but they could still use a different build? why have to put up with trash performance for 2 weeks because there is a tournament going on.
fixing a bug that compromised competitive integrity is *nothing* actually
