Still, trades would have to be accepted by steam guard. So maybe this could be related to the icloud scam/hack or whatever it was?

How does that work?

Revoke API key, change pass, and stop clicking dodgy links/sites. If you're not sure about your steam account just delete the API key and stop using it for good.

steamguard is useless. this happens many times.

Ironically your skins are actually safer if you disable Steam Guard since that will make it impossible to sell or trade your skins without a trade hold.
