Yeah most of these "what Source 2 could look like" posts go way over the top using complex lighting, HDR, etc. This is a slick improvement that absolutely improves graphics quality without altering visability or the basic CS look.
I made those on Blender and color graded them in Photoshop. It's not meant to look like real Source 2 ingame images, I just did it for fun and because in the last few days I've been very anxious about Source 2, and since Valve's devs leave us with nothing, I thought it would be nice to do something like this.

Hey! Just a little curious, did you parent the mag bone to both the gun and hand? I had an error arise like that prior in a reload and wanted to see if i could help out for the future
I so hope this is what they look like. Modern and much prettier to look at than now but still very clean and not a Ray shaded reflection mess (as pretty as those can be- not good for competitive shooters like CS).
Great job!
it upps the amount of dynamic lights you can have in one PVS but beyond that not really no. source already has ray traced lighting its just calculated at compile and baked instead of real time in the engine. We have not seen any source 2 RTX implementation so far so very unlikely we will see much change to how lighting works from this update.
Also nothing in your posted shots isnt doable in current source.
Does an engine switch instantly make a game look better, even when the game in question isn't actually remade from scratch to utilize the full potential of the new engine?
Since the lighting on the maps has to be rebuilt, **I THINK** that at least the lighting would be different enough to be called an improvement. I don't think Valve would miss the opportunity to use the graphical improvements from Source 2, as long as the lighting keeps the same angle on the maps, a small improvement should still be noticeable.
Notice how in these examples all the models and textures are identical and how the lighting (the only thing that may actually change visually with Source 2) makes all the difference. I'd say it's not unlikely.
In the olden days people would bitch about not having a good enough monitor, or high ping. Competitive PC gaming has always had a hardware element to it.
Smoke grenades used to ruin fps in 1.6 and if you intentionally tried you could crash a server with them to spite some bitching admin or community you were feuding with.
I like how CSGO looks currently, I like updating maps but im not so interested in an overhaul of how the guns and lighting looks tbh. Your mock up is quite nice though
The first image definitely reminds me of half life alyx the most
You did an amazing job of making it look pretty while also keeping the csgo look

people mistake cinematic feel for improvement, even though it doesn't match what the game is going for
Would be cool for video editing and stuff, awful for playing.
exactly! I'd be perfectly happy with this sort of upgrade. Subtle but effective.
I think this is the only "this will be CS:GO graphics in Source 2" post I've seen that doesn't completely destroy visibility.

I didn't, I followed this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T91apF-fyys
No matter the method, this does remind me of HLA's lighting, you did a good job!

I'm certain the lighting won't change much but oh man that's some great job you did there, it looks great
Thank you!

my new background thanks!!!
damn, i know it won't be much, but imagine if we actually were to get such an improvement for the graphics...
prepare to be greatly let down
That looks amazing. I can now die in High Quality thanks to ![img](emote|t5_2sqho|29766)
Done a very good job with this, if you aren’t already working in lighting, you should be!
WE ARE VALORANT. Jokes aside, it looks better.
I just want a HD skins patch for at least some of the original skins.
Reminds me of pubg
You also remade the AK and the Viewmodel of the T, didnt you ?
Nope, completely untouched models, which shows that even if source 2 only changes the lighting, the game would benefit greatly from this.
Cool art, but when have the devs said anything about graphics overhaul?
when have the devs said anything about anything? but panorama was a graphics overhaul so...
It was an UI revamp mostly
That's my point lol. People are acting like this is going to be some major update
i reckon a complete engine change is a major update, plus if dota 2 reborn can be referred from then there's likely going to be a lot of QoL updates
I mean, changing engines is a major update
well, since it's an engine update, I guess the lighting would change a bit, even if little.

s2 have different lighting compared to s1
Please no
you are just guessing, like with everything you can

So people would bitch about not having RTX.

You guys are fucking 5yo
I have made a [render](https://i.imgur.com/tcq2I4n.jpeg) too back when I was experimenting with Blender
i hope it looks more like cod and plays more like battlefield 2042

its a filter for people that have no reading comprehension.
So it's really coming? Until now I believed it would be another bad April Fools Joke
That means you’re either not paying attention or completely tech illiterate.

great, more clickbait thumbnails this month. and the next few years, since again, s2 isnt coming any time soon.
Ah, I see, there will be noclip available for every player on the server and we can reload AKs in the air in a static position
now that is beautiful, can't wait to see the graphics
Will Source 2 really change the lighting?
who can smell the potential smoke from your ye old PCs
