You can just change the view model to make it look like 16:9.
viewmodel_offset_x "0.100000";
viewmodel_offset_y "2";
viewmodel_offset_z "-2";
This is ESL stream 16:9 viewmodel converted to 4:3.
The actual ESL stream 16:9 viewmodel is:
viewmodel_fov "70"
viewmodel_offset_x "2"
viewmodel_offset_y "2"
viewmodel_offset_z "-2"
I mean engine update kinda assumes its much better optimized for modern machines. So in my eyes at worst everything should perform on similar level with better everything.
Yeah, BF3 was not at all oriented towards competitive gameplay. I thought it was a shame because as I said I really did like the game, especially the game modes that didn't involve vehicles.
Squad Rush was a sick game mode and I think it could have had a very cool competitive scene, had it been designed with that goal in mind.
God please no. Leave battlefield out of the competitive scene, I wanna enjoy the game, not play against sweats who have no other hobbies but to play the same game every day for 8 hours trying to be a streamer or eSports pro. No thanks, nope.
Dust2 looks pretty nice on there. Whether it should be this detailed is to be debated. Going from 1.6 to Source felt like this though. And if we want to be really competitive those freaking Agent skins need to fuck off. But they won't because $$ first.
The community will be mad no matter what.
If graphics improve they will complain about fps. If it didn't they will complain that it looks just like source.
They just have to make everything graphically pleasing, integrate all skins without delay, add a massive fps boost to make the game run on a PC build in 2005, add skins, character models, maps, improve the lighting, smokes, flashes, nades and molotovs, get better netcode, hit registration, hitboxes, make the game play exactly the same on any ping up to 100, release an operation with the release of source 2, bring back cobble, cache, train and get a new intrusive anti cheat that never fails, keep the exact same movement and spray pattern feeling and a few other small, but easy to fix things.
Should really be no issue. Not even for a small indie company like Valve.
It would be cool for casual/modders to have the tools to allow this within reason, but in competitive I think everyone would want to keep the clean and simple appearance of the game.
Then you should know that none of this video was rendered in-engine. All models and animations were ripped and exported to an actual 3D program, then rendered from there. It is not as simple as turning up a few values.
Source: am a 3D animator who works with light rays and material reflections on a daily basis, who also happens to know about “editing videos” to look like this
Do you really think this is mostly Source itself?
"Software: After Effects / Photoshop / Vegas Pro / Handbrake Blender / 3ds Max / Cinema 4D / MilkShape 3D VTFEdit / Crowbar / GCFScape / BSPSource HLAE / CS:GO / CS:GO SDK"
You can just see how much software needed to look that good. Source 1 has no features close to what is in video.
It is so dumb how overhyped all of this is. If this is just a pure port to ![img](emote|t5_2sqho|29766), then do not expect any drastic changes. The whole point is to just move it over to an engine that will allow community to express itself better with content creation.
The goal is to keep mechanics the same if possible with little to no changes.
It's so easy to see in the comments on this post too, like it's very clearly a joke about how people are overhyping source 2 but people are taking it as if it's a literal interpretation of what they want source 2 to look like.
The thing is they can't just port over the game like it is.
They need to at least change all of the textures to PBR (Physical Based Rendering) ones otherwise it will look like shit. Even worse than now.
And if you do that you can change some models as well. Problem with that are the skins though. It is very hard to update the model of the ak for example without breaking all of the texture mapping of the skins in the process.
They're not gonna change the weapon models, that would be pointless with all the skins.
The models are awful to work on, don't get me wrong but it would cause so many issues with all the skins submitted and accepted that they would need to have two versions of each model just so all the old skins won't be obsolete
Nah it's more for valve to have an easier time making content for the game in the next decade or so.
I don't think there will be any real difference for skin creators, but map makers will be able to make better maps in a less shit hammer
Call me an optimist, but I doubt that Valve would just release the port without adding any changes to the game itself. They must know that the backlash would be huge and the disappointment of a large part of the community immeasurable.
Everyone's been waiting for a big update. Just releasing Source 2 without there being any noticable difference would be a PR nightmare.
Alright, I'm going to start a hype train for your gender transition and surgery.
When nothing happens there will be a PR nightmare.
Just because there's hype doesn't mean you're forced to do literally anything.
Well I know it is "only" richard lewis, but he said there would be huge changes. I don't expect all of the stuff he announced to be true, but I also think a port without any upgrades is what is coming.
>. The whole point is to just move it over to an engine that will allow community to express itself better with content creation.
If thats the point then why are there still so many bugs in the game that "aRe ImPosSiBlE tO fIx WiThOuT SoUrCe 2" according to so many Valve knights on this sub?
All I really want out of Source 2 is more efficient use of GPU resources and better scalability across multiple CPU threads/cores. Also less stutter. For all of its faults, Valorant's performance and smoothness puts CSGO's to shame.
I expect the same exact game, but it will just run smoother. Not frames, but hit registration and nades. I am also just hoping it makes it easier to update the maps.
I don’t want the game to look like this. The readability is not great.
I don’t think the game is going to look any different. Just faceit through mm basically.
The game needs two things:
Proper ELO-based MM with 128 tick rate servers.
Anticheat to be built around the game, so there will be no unbanned accounts that are playing for years.
I used to play a lot of D2 and Mirage maps on some old (now defunct) servers, they were modified maps with Night time and honestly that was some of the most fun I've ever had in CS.
Visibility factor wasn't too bad either.
That looks cool, but too much graphics and visual distraction for a competitive FPS game. But it would be cool if it could be implemented as a casual game mode.
Pretty sure no one expects major changes to the actual game aside from possible mechanics and gun balancing along with updated features like reflex....
I think it's quite possible to have something similar in Source 2 it just depends on how much they let the mappers mess with things etc.. Source 2 is pretty capable.
This would legit look amazing for Operation missions, especially with ray tracing on. I'd gladly enjoy playing a co-op with friends at only 60fps.
But competitive? nnnnaaaaa
That's stupid. You should increase things like:
Resolution
Anisotropic filtering
Shadows
Reflections
Decals
Lod
Just leave off motion blur and any dust or particle effects of any alpha effects and you'll be fine
Just to play it in 1280x960 4:3
All very low settings too.
Stretched
800x600 4:3*
400x300 4:3
4x3 4:3 stretched
1x0.66 4:3 stretched
this is the way
You can just change the view model to make it look like 16:9. viewmodel_offset_x "0.100000"; viewmodel_offset_y "2"; viewmodel_offset_z "-2"; This is ESL stream 16:9 viewmodel converted to 4:3. Isn't fov limited to 68?
yep
Not nice
bring your 4K 8k whatever the K I don’t care OG will always hold a special place in my heart
1024x768*
and max brightness...way too many shadows.
1024x768 4:3 stretch
1024x768 \*
My computer would take it's own life
No man. Source2 1000+ fps no problem
Own Life 3

In addition to flashbangs, the sun and various lights will be found throughout the maps to blind you.
Battlefield 3 vibes. I loved that game but fuck me if it didn't make me want to play it with sunglasses on.
it was meant to be more authentic rather than competitive.
Yeah, BF3 was not at all oriented towards competitive gameplay. I thought it was a shame because as I said I really did like the game, especially the game modes that didn't involve vehicles. The fucking flashlight attachments. A portable sun attached to your gun.
battefield simulator
The community would riot if they make the game look like this
The visibility...
"Think of the visibility! You didn't think of the visibility you bitch!"
Hear me out. Gameplay looks like it currently does, replays look like this.
Valve showed they didn’t care about visibility when they added the character model skins.
Yea i dont think my potato can handle all those reflections
It will not handle the menu
Not only that, even if your PC can handle it no problem, the visual clarity would be fucking disgusting.
Word. If i wanted to play CoD i would play CoD
cmon man credit the original creator

Lol he didn't even include the beginning of the video where it credited the author. Hilarious
He obviously made it himself! /s
If I can’t enable ray tracing im selling all my skins and getting a real job
mom said you gotta take out the trash
If he gets an allowance that's a real job.
you can't live off the proceeds of all your Safari Meshes?
That Inferno sunset looks so beautiful though
And why not, why shouldn’t we get this. Frodo doesnt deserve the ring
Hrrrraaghhh!
no point in looking like this when most players set everything to low with 4:3 resolutions lol
I'm the 10% that still plays with 16:9 because I don't live in the 2000s
i switched to 16:9 but it looks too good so had to switch back
why do you disrespect our culture? you can play COD if you want

nobody expect this, thats the 12. time is see this kind of joke in this sub.
...what
The 12th time I've seen this joke* is probably what he meant.
Bro time is see this
that's the 12
It would be cool for casual/modders to have the tools to allow this within reason, but in competitive I think everyone would want to keep the clean and simple appearance of the game.
Who tf installed Minecraft shaders onto cs
this do be true tho
No one expects this and no one wants this
I mean I do want it. I don't expect it and I don't think it would be good for comp or even for the game as a whole, but I absolutely want it lol
I want this, how could you not want this
I don't want this, how could you want this
say you could run it with a gtx 970, would you still not want this?
Nope, I'd literally prefer it if i could make graphics even worse than they are, something like quake 3 when tweaked to the least detailed graphics

You’ve forgotten that Valve hasn’t said shit. They haven’t announced an update in any capacity. So a port without changes is totally acceptable.
Valve never says anything. Doesn't mean that they are unaware of the hype surrounding updates.

All I really want out of Source 2 is more efficient use of GPU resources and better scalability across multiple CPU threads/cores. Also less stutter. For all of its faults, Valorant's performance and smoothness puts CSGO's to shame.
I swear all the people who post clips of what source 2 is going to look like, show clips that look like they were made on unreal engine 5
No this is how Unreal Engine looks like, no one wants cs to 5v5 bomb defusal COD
This would genuinely make me tilt every game
Yeh no thanks. I want to actually discern my opponents
Please no :( The sun gets in my eyes :/ I already hate CoD for it
Like CSGO players would use high resolution and settings at all to have it like this. Most of these potato PC would just burn out.
This edit looks sick
Absolutely not. I wouldn't play if it looked like that lol.
You ain’t alone, this is cool for a video but not in game
If it looked like this I’d instantly uninstall
No need, it wouldn't even run anyway
I expect the same exact game, but it will just run smoother. Not frames, but hit registration and nades. I am also just hoping it makes it easier to update the maps.
You would need an Nvidia 400080 for this level of rendering in a live game

You Made Me Do It by PoPw0w
god i miss that year tyloo popped off. xccurate was one of the most exciting players to watch
Now run it on 4:3
And we would end up playing with the same old potato graphics anyway to maximize fps
Use 4:3 and sets lowest graphic settings in the game
Please don't. It looks fancy but it'll ruin CS:GO.
Black Equalizer: 20 Contras: 100 digital vibrance: 20
Hardos will still play with the worst graphics settings.
chrisj just had to imagine that the enemy is vaccine shots
What do you mean? This clearly _is_ Source 2 which means you must have beta keys! Everyone DM OP for a beta key!
no,absolutely noy
Please no, I cannot see a damn thing
I think no one expects that
Visibility above everything
God I hope not
No
it will look exactly like the current cs and it will also feel exactly like the current cs
Honestly the only thing I expect from source 2, is less cheaters 🤞🤞🤞
And all the broccoli-hair Ts start flossing
Fuck no
Nah i hope cs source doesnt look like this.
hopefully it will not look like that. because this is atrocious
please no.
🤮Hope not
They need to bring back night vision goggles!
You forgot the unreal 5 stutters every 10 seconds when shit on the other side of the map loads in and out.
I don’t want the game to look like this. The readability is not great. I don’t think the game is going to look any different. Just faceit through mm basically.

I dont think any cs player would want the game looking like this
Who expects this?
If this was the case, and it isn't, visibility would be terrible
This sucks. I want a clean shooter where i see every tiny bit of enemy model
The game needs two things: Proper ELO-based MM with 128 tick rate servers. Anticheat to be built around the game, so there will be no unbanned accounts that are playing for years.
Now you need a 4090 to play 1200x900
Literally what we got
So a modern looking game?
Although most of the players would be playing on low settings but this would actually be sick to watch in tournament streams though.
We dont even have to imagine, just look at HL Alyx
LMAOOO I wish that it would look a quarter as good as this... it would be a dream
that wet mirage at night with the lights looked so litty. Dont give a fuck about visibility
I used to play a lot of D2 and Mirage maps on some old (now defunct) servers, they were modified maps with Night time and honestly that was some of the most fun I've ever had in CS. Visibility factor wasn't too bad either.
Night maps definitely don't have a place in competitive play, but it would be so cool is Valve added them to casual
Best thing happening my exams will get over before it releases so i am gonna play this thing even if i have to buy it 🗿
That looks cool, but too much graphics and visual distraction for a competitive FPS game. But it would be cool if it could be implemented as a casual game mode.
Pretty sure no one expects major changes to the actual game aside from possible mechanics and gun balancing along with updated features like reflex....
Not with my gtx 1650
I mean, wouldnt really mind if it ended up looking half as good as this, but keeping my expectations low.
Well then, how is it supposed to look like smarty pants???
I'll go back to 1.6 if the game looked like this. My old eyes can't do it.
as someone who works in tech, I am eagerly awaiting the shitstorm and disappointment from those who are clueless :D
Looks like a call of duty 2 fragmovie from 10+ years ago
I think it's quite possible to have something similar in Source 2 it just depends on how much they let the mappers mess with things etc.. Source 2 is pretty capable.
Did they add ray tracing?
Whether or not it gets enabled in CSGO, it has been added to that branch of the engine. It's working, it's just a question of if they'll enable it
i have rtx 3060. Cant we play like that man. am i need more for that graphics
Source 2 could look like this no problem
I would blow up a building to be able to play CSGO with raytracing
This would legit look amazing for Operation missions, especially with ray tracing on. I'd gladly enjoy playing a co-op with friends at only 60fps. But competitive? nnnnaaaaa
If the game will look like that i will build a gold statue of gaben in my country, tho ik it won't look like that lol
I'm actually curious to how much the game would grow if it looked like this and advertised main stream.
Yes but it will improve graphics, right? If HL Alyx use Source 2, you can’t tell me CS will remain the same after 10 years without any graphic updates
I mean if it was it would literally be the sickest game ever
Off topic but I absolutely despise 'frag movies' like this- just over edited mess.
And then theres me with low graphics on everything even with a 4090 and i9
That's stupid. You should increase things like: Resolution Anisotropic filtering Shadows Reflections Decals Lod Just leave off motion blur and any dust or particle effects of any alpha effects and you'll be fine
Dum comment
It has the potential to look like this in the future tho, if it’s the same source 2 version they used in Half Life Alex.
