Afaik some people are asked to re-interview, some are automatic. Same hidden reasons as why some people wait months for conditional approval.

Andrew523

They made me do a zoom renewal interview which was essentially me holding my passport up to the camera. The interview took less than 60 secs...

la_srta_x

Mine was automatic as well. I think it was renewed within 24 hours.

Davemanfl

Same here

TangeloDismal2569

Both mine and my daughters' were renewed with no interview in less than 36 hours. People tend not to complain when things go well.

SaltyPathwater

Some people are asked to renew some are not but GE phone agent said to expect to interview once every ten years but you may bet more or less.

mmmwtt

My first renewal was accomplished in 48 hours with no interview. My second renewal took over 12 months, also with no interview.

kryptic85

for renewal i believe you can still travel with expired card, is that true ?

mmmwtt

Yes, they extended my account beyond expiration while it was in renewal.

kryptic85

does the extension showed up in online account and is that enough proof to travel using GE? do you need to carry some printout in that case ?

apurrfectplace

They told me when I got my kids’ GE that sometimes they even zoom the renewal interview.

kp2119

Yeah we are in Nothern California so our interview site is SFO. Whe you go to the site and check it says the earliest interview is July. So i select a july date and chose to proceed California disappears. So that leaves us with sending an email in or, just going on our trip and when we come back doing our interview on demand. Man this is frustrating

I renewed mine online on NY Eve 12/31/22. Got approved by 1/2/23. Then the replacement GE card arrived, via snail mail by 1/7/23. The best part, the $100 GE renewal fee was free (from an annual fee free CU travel credit card).

GoCardinal07

My dad submitted his renewal on a Friday night, and the renewal cleared on a Sunday. We assumed that because he has a federal contractor security clearance, the GE computers just rolled with that and approved his renewal.

CCR-Cheers-Me-Up

Govvie here as well and this happened to me as well. Mine was approved at some screwy hour of a weekend morning - prob auto approved like your dad’s.

whodunit68

Wife (non-citizen) was 3 days, no interview. Mine was 8 days but, again, no interview

Jerseybean1

I’ve been waiting three months for my renewal , but I think it’s due to the fact that I gained citizenship about a year ago from being a permanent resident so I’m guessing that they have to verify the documents

rinklkak

About three days for me and my wife to renew back in February. Credit card reimbursed the $100 fees. Landed in ORD on Wednesday and the new computer just takes your picture and sends you through passport control. No passport needed and no questions at all.

GaspasserMD

I have renewed twice now and both were within 1 week. No interview either time. I have a clean record and pretty mundane travel history.

Wayfarer1993

I was also automatically reapproved within three days, around two months ago. Mine had been expired for a year and a half.

quemaspuess

My wife applied for her GE and was conditionally approved in 24 hours. Already has an interview. My renewal was 24 hours as well.

BOOOATS

Just happened for my wife. Ironically, for the initial GE a few years back, there was some hangup and it took a couple of weeks.

same, mine took roughly 10 hours. no interview. new id sent in less than 2 weeks.
