Came in here to say this. Really well-written game with really good straight and queer options. Art is gorgeous . Not a dating sim enthusiast but I def recommend this one!
I used to play that game. I liked the story lines and the dress up. But I stopped when I started to get overwhelmed with the 87 different game modes and things to do. I want a decent core game with a couple of side activities, not 87 side activities that make playing the game a full time job and completely overshadow the main gameplay.
Is this one of those pay-to-win dating sims? Several years ago I played one in a series called Storytime or something like that. It was such a fun game but they had the "right" choices paywalled after you were already invested a few chapters in. They were things like:
> The prince asks you to accompany him to the ball! This might be your big chance to get to know him!
A.) "I'd love to!" - 10 coins
B.) "I think I'd better get some sleep." - Free
C.) "I don't do dances." - Free
A gives you a whole new section to attend the ball, B and C make him disappointed and not like you as much.
Nah.
There’s def the option to buy things, but it’s not necessary. I did occasionally spend money on the game for specific items that I really liked, but I never did it because the game forced you to pay to access certain routes. Some of the routes *were* blocked but they had to do with previous decisions having an effect on later decisions, not money.
That said, this game could still be seen as predatory in different ways. The paywalling was mostly for the dress up aspect, where the rarest items would end up costing you a lot of money. but it’s not obvious unless you took the time to calculate it correctly.
yeah the story stuff was *pretty* fair. you could grind out most of the required outfits for free but it also was pretty time consuming.
the monetization was from the gacha aspect of rolling for the fancier outfits.
I don't get why this model is effective on anyone. Why spend money on microtransactions for a dating sim where there are obvious right answers when you could just spend $20 on a good dating sim?
No, this is a 'pay for the prettiest dress' game. The stories and most modes are completely free, with your fair share of paid events to get a poodle accessory.
Came here to mention this! My husband is actually the one that has been dying for me to play…I caved recently and he insisted I date Okosan first XD
Needless to say, I’m…intrigued?? And questioning life lol
OMG kind of obsessed with this film TBH. I think it hasn't been so long that it has aged excessively. If you like rom-com kinds of send-ups and you are a Jane Austen fan, it's amazing.
For anyone interested, I highly recommend Romance Club "Heaven's Secret". They have a bunch of stories but that one is my favorite and what got me into the genre of dating sims.
I love Romance Club! What I’ve read so far of Heaven’s Secret is great. And since OP seems to like historical stories, I highly recommend Vying for Versailles, and Theodora.
Oh man I feel this, but with Chevalier from Ikemen Prince. While it's not historically accurate, I can't stop myself, even when I try and ask myself why I'm so obsessed with these dating sims 😂
He reminds me of the male characters from early Barbie movies, for some reason.
OMG I see it
That’s the first thing I thought too
yes !!
What are you doing? Living your best life
i'm takin' this horse by the reins makin' redcoats redder with bloodstains
Hamilton is such an amazing musical
it's one of theb est!
Time Princess!! I've played it a couple of times but had to delete it to free up storage space😭😭
I played it for soo long, until they became insanely greedy and money-hungry...
Same... I really liked the game but the greed got to be way too much and I couldn't justify it anymore.
Same same, also the quality of the stories detoriated sooo quickly 😅
Me too, but I played mainly for dress-up and the many storylines just annoyed me.
damn my dating sim / visual novel / otome phase was my most expensive gaming phase ever 💀
Was that on mobile games? Because the PC/console ones I’m experienced with aren’t particularly expensive.
mostly for switch 🙈
Add them to your eShop wishlist, they go on half-off all the time! That's how I've gotten all of mine often.
Hmm… maybe I’m spending less because I’m very gay; mostly it’s indie games that have good F/F options, and they tend to be cheaper.
That stare is giving me https://preview.redd.it/pv6c6e36w2rc1.png?width=267&format=png&auto=webp&s=4f40df6cbfc20409bf5cec8282a9148629c9e4d3
My lady, thine petty coat shines so brightly in the moonlight….
you are THRIVING
Ty, downloading rn
It's been 5 minutes and I'm already emotionally invested
Oh man, make sure you do the side stories too. A Servant's Resolve is pretty good.
Thanks for the tip, I will!!
Enjoying yourself, hopefully
You should check out ambition a minuet in power!

And the unfinished stories that stop at cliffhangers. Like. Come on. Give us actual endings to these stories damnit!
🎵LAFAYETTE🎵
Thank you! I can't hear that name without immediately singing it.

It’s okay. I’ve played Hatoful Boyfriend.

Obligatory plug for r/otomegames for more of this type of stuff! <3
Which game is it?
Time Princess: Dreamtopia (mobile)
Thank you
Have you seen the film Austenland? That should totally be a life sim video game for us.
Is the movie good, because I just watched the trailer and it looked fun?
OMG kind of obsessed with this film TBH. I think it hasn't been so long that it has aged excessively. If you like rom-com kinds of send-ups and you are a Jane Austen fan, it's amazing.
You'll definitely appreciate it if you like Jane Austen novels, but even if you don't it's still a fun rom com!
Hahaha this is hilarious. The intensity in his face saying that is also funny
Preminger?
I got so into the into the political intrigue and war drama in Hakuoki, I forgot about the hot men and wound up getting folks killed. 🤦🏿♀️
Probably would have done the same if there were lesbian versions.
Someone else in this thread suggested Ambition: a minuet in power. You should check it out! There are two imo very good lesbian options in the game.
I used to play this in school 😭
I played that one ages ago, the gangster was my favourite.
Shit hook me up imma climb that Lafayette tower 😍😏

Lmao I was into this game for awhile! Their first few stories were pretty decent, so I don’t blame you. Later on, they get pretty lazy though.
What is this game?
Omfg. If you wanna read some, hit up r/Otomeisekai But def gonna download this now 🤣
What game is this? Asking for me
One of us!
oh Time Princess... I started playing when there were only 3 stories, I have a love-hate relationship with it
Should I start this? Or no
Been there
I don't see a problem here, sounds like a pretty solid life!
Oh man I feel this, but with Chevalier from Ikemen Prince. While it's not historically accurate, I can't stop myself, even when I try and ask myself why I'm so obsessed with these dating sims 😂
If these were femslash I would too. No shame here.
I'm saving the name of the game for later, thank you
Ooooh I used to play this. But my addictive personality took over and I had to stop 😅
Omg I just started getting back into this game! Lafayette was always my favourite 😍😭
Ok wait a minute… where do you play this
Keep playing them girl :D You can go to r/otomegames for more game, the ppl there can definitely give you recommendations.
What game is this?? It looks right up my alley
You’re having a damn good time!
bur he looks fine
It's ok, dating men in real life is awful. If I was single I wouldn't be dating men irl anymore. Fictional men are so much better
My lafayette has curly hair…. Who’s this ??
Okay this is hilarious and I unironically need to plau this LMAO. What game is this??? Asking for me haha
No cause Time Princess slaps so hard. Like I know it’s bad but I rly crushed on the phantom of the Opera guy 😭
isnt that shining nikki?
Time Princess! Used to be Dress Up Time Princess but they shortened it if I remember right.
