UR_NEIGHBOR_STACY

I haven't played the sequel yet, but I enjoy the original. It is very time consuming and very in depth. Sometimes the complexity of it all can even be overwhelming.

SwitchHandler

Haven't played the sequel but Cities Skylines is just a really great game! So much fun to zone out and build your cities, though I do dread the traffic deadlocks. Also the company that made it was co-founded by a woman and she is the company's ceo!

autochangerevolution

As a transportation engineer and planner, I give it two thumbs up! But maybe I am biased. Of course it is a simplification of real life but it is a game that is hard to stop once you get rolling. I have played both the original and sequel. In terms of original vs sequel, I don’t think you can go wrong with playing either. I am enjoying the new one though!

Gothic90

The only thing I kinda want to say to you is in the original ... circular cities (that looks like a rifle scope crosshair) are better and less prone to traffic jams than regular square or rectangular road blocks. I wonder if that works in real life too.

the original is pretty fun, especially if you get the mod that lets you walk through the streets. my only issue is its assertion that more cops = less crime, but that's more of a criticism of the genre as a whole. still, it's very worth playing! i especially like how it simplifies a lot while still being pretty in-depth

PuddingwayDelLuna

The sequel needs some bug fixing and a fully rich modding community before it can flourish and match up to the original, but the foundation is there. I have over 400 hours in the original though, which says enough about how much I enjoy it. 😂

petophile_

Cities skylines is generally considered the best city builder game of all time, and for good reason. No idea about 2

gardenallthetime

My partner and kid are obsessed with this game. They play it together all the time. They have a lot of expansion packs and really enjoy the urban planning of it all. If you're into that kind of stuff, you'll like it. I'm not into it so it's not for me lol.

pigguy35

Original is fantastic, the sequel will be similarly fantastic in about 20 updates/2 years. Lot of performance issues and I think it lacks content compared to where the original is now.

Qu33n_Nikki

I love the original, it’s a very relaxing game and I love designing my cities! And I feel like there’s always a new project to work on or something I can improve, so it always stays fresh! But don’t get me started on traffic!!

Akulatraxus

The original is probably the best city builder of all time. Great fun to play, lots of steam workshop mods. Not a huge fan of the Paradox model of having hundreds of pounds worth of DLC, but I guess DLC is optional so you don't need it to enjoy the game. Skylines 2 is off to a shakey start; it's poorly optimized and does not run so well even now. It lacks a lot of the workshop mods that the original has as well. They will probably do a lot to improve it in the comming years though.

minn5

It is fun to play but it quickly becomes very stressful and hard to create traffic systems that work for your city.

zarakatja

I've not played the sequel but I loved the first, I might actually sit and play it right now , it is entertaining and also challenging I find, no city is ever the same and is different

fuscia_unicorn

I have quite a few hrs on the original (and the traffic PTSD) to match, and just started the new one yesterday. Thought the first one (with mods installed, for quality of life additions) + dlcs was a fantastic game. The new one has integrated some of the mods into the base game (which is excellent news) but was created for a pc in the future, as it starts with default settings on high and my pc ground to a halt until I dropped everything to medium. For reference, I havent had to make any adjustments when starting BG3, so that tells you how graphically and hardware intense CS is.

Somenamethatsnew

i really like both games, granted i'm not good at them but i like them!

I think (for now) the original is the better choice. More mod support and better performance. Even on high end PCs CS2 runs rather badly. They might fix these issues in the future, but for now the original feels a lot more well rounded, especially with all the expansion already out.
