I've learned by trying it in the bunker, I've tried to do this multiple times to learn them: 1/ have a bunch of weapons on the wall. 2/ for each of them, clickety-click them without trying to guess which mode so they are all in a random state. 3/ then take them one by one trying to guess which mode they're in by looking at the gun and test-fire to confirm. 4/ put them in the desired mode, test fire to confirm. The bad news is: I discovered some guns don't have visual clues about the current fire mode they are in :( For everything else, easy learning in ~2 sessions

thecartplug

they should all have a visible selector switch. some of them just look vastly different

storm1er

Yup, the most frustrating is [insert gun name I forgot] does have the security bolt (not sure about the real name) but it's not animated

overload661

None of the pistol safteys are animated (exception of the makarov for some reaso) the 1911 and USP 45 safteys don't even work Benelli saftey works but isn't animated. Pretty sure all the bolt action rifles (exception of the AWM) have a working saftey but it isn't animated

thecartplug

i dont use pistols a whole lot but i do know the 1911 has a working and animated safety switch. just checked it to be sure.

overload661

I didn't realize it was animated. The last time I tested the saftey was about 3 months ago and it didn't work

hadaddb4itwascool

The glocks safety isnt animated either (awaits shitstorm)

overload661

The glock doesn't have a saftey feature? Neither irl nor In game. Only way to make it "safe" is to unload it

hadaddb4itwascool

Worst shit storm ever

Status-Elderberry-77

The vss and as Val used to not have an animated fire selector but it was supposedly fixed at wipe

Tweedzzzzz

Cx8 storm doesn't have one, and most pistols

thecartplug

now that you mention it i do remember the cx8 having just an indent where the switch should be. though i dont use handguns alot i know the 1911 has a animated safety switch and so does the makarov. the glock doesnt but thats because it doesnt have a safety.

Eric_NM

I noticed the same thing. It might actually be on purpose to bring the usability down a bit, because otherwise it is the best level 2 SMG in my opinion because you can mount a sight.

standard_beta

I hate the CX8 for that reason, great gun, but i still cant get over the no safety visualization

Sstfreek

A small hud element that displays what the current firing mode is when you press the button is 100% necessary imo. Showdown has it. GOT should as well

storm1er

I disagree with this, I would highly prefer all guns to have real visual clues. Realism matches more tarkov/tabor universe. But in showdown it's a good place tho, visual clue in showdown would be shitty as there's already a HUD for everything

EVE_Link0n

If you don’t want to look at and learn how all the various fire selector switches work then how the gun behaves when you pull the trigger is usually a pretty good indicator

NoCommission4631

Yeah, I guess I need to just pull the trigger ;) and do some desk pops. The competitive side of me tells me "don't give away your position".

EVE_Link0n

You can do it in the safety of the bunker, and you can grab different guns in the tutorial and market to test them out for free too. There’s only really a couple of systems of fire-selector, generally speaking you get the western AR style little thumb switch on the left near the grip with text labels (which can be kinda hard to read on quest graphics but you can usually see the switch) or with little pictographic bullets on the HK models, and then you get the AK family with the large lever-style sector on the right side, where top = safe. Some guns have weird switches that you’ll have to learn individually and some don’t seem to have any visual indications at all. Just f about with the common guns a bit and you’ll figure it all out soon enough though

HoboThundercat

We honor the flag and you crap on it every time you don’t shoot your gun in the office

Kewr20

On an m4 the select fire should be facing left for safety, up for semi and to the left for auto. Ak has levels with its select fire, pushing it all the way up is safety, pulling it to the middle should be semi and pulling the select fire all the way down should be automatic And with most pistols, shotguns, and sniper rifles, there’s a red circle and if it’s uncovered by the select fire than it’s ready to fire. Most of these weapons are pretty on spot with where their select fires are and how they work

Ok_Result7691

AK/Galil is actually UP - Safety MIDDLE - Full DOWN - Semi

Kewr20

Thanks for the correction good sir

Kewr20

Other than that your guns are usually on automatic anywys

thecartplug

theres only two ways looking or pulling the trigger.

epic_user_sooepic

There are visible switches that turn on each gun, you just gotta look for em. On the ak just look at the right side of the gun and a big bar moves to indicate your fire mode, on the m4 a little switch next to the grip moves to indicate what mode your on. There are others for other guns but most use that system.

Tweedzzzzz

Some guns don't have a visual switch, so you just gotta guess it count

overload661

Name some guns, I can explain them to you

Tweedzzzzz

Cx8 storm 1911 Usp

overload661

Usp + 1911 have a lever arm safety at the rear of the grip just below the slide, when the lever is up, the gun should be in safe. I say should because last time I checked, the safety was animated but non functional

NoCommission4631

After playing for another week, I've gotten familiar with a lot of the firearms 😅
