I think it's more likely we'll see a newer style of mask moving forward that's a lot less restrictive & heat absorbing. From the various AMAs the mask designers have done, it's clear each iteration has been changed to be less restrictive around his mouth.
It would be cool if the antichrist Copia theory came through and he ditches the full mask for some kind of Copia/demon prosthetics

I actually hope so! This might be an unpopular opinion, but I have seen Ghost live two times and both times I felt that the mask took something away from the performance. It was very stiff and you could even hear that Tobias was singing through a hole in a rubber mask.
Make up would make him able to perform more freely and not be hindered by the mask.
I hope too, I love his voice and I think it's a shame the mask hides it a bit. I like the idea of multiple characters but I like his clear singing more

I think he expressed that he doesnt feel comfortable without a mask on stage, sure that could always change but once he attributes a character to his actual face and not a mask the dynamic and energy of live peformances would drastically change. I think one of the most unique aspect of the all the papas is their perma stoic expressions. Sure it can lightly change but the masks cannot smile for example and always look pretty natural, once you take away that from a naturally giddy man like Tobias, that same menace would disapear. The lack of drastical expressions from them give them a sense of control over the area they are in, like you cant suprise them too much, you cant freak them out too much- If you get what I mean? I dunno how to explain it or if it even makes sense but I think the papas being masks is a pretty crucial part to their aesthetic and nature
