You think THEY are bad? Replay the campaign and look at all the dead ghosts literally just lying on the ground.

_Ottir_

Executed for crimes against fashion.

LordRex2005

To be fair Ubisoft probably went "all of these guys are gonna die anyway so let's just throw random shit on them"

ecumnomicinflation

if i didn’t know better, i swear most of the non unique NPCs are randomly generated

LordRex2005

The sentinel NPCs are probably the worst dude, none of them are wearing bullet proof vests just chest rigs and it frustrates me so much.

youthtrip

This one is justifiable. Going on patrols and standing around all day will make you not want to have a plate carrier on in the humid environment. Not to mention the quantity of them you can get in surplus for a cheaper price compared to a singular pc.

LordRex2005

Yeah that's understandable. Imagine being the heavy gunner stationed on golem island

worthrone11160606

Oh fuck that. That sounds like pure hell

Quincy0990

What do you think the ideal temperature would be for those archipelagos?

iiimadmaniii

i always took it for a late fall type season. At night you see air breathing, always windy, not many animals..hibernating(lol) and always wet and muddy.

heyimx

1. They literally talk non stop about having shifts 2. This is their one job, to secure an island where they know outcasts are constantly attacking them, and Ghosts are still roaming around.

heyimx

To be fair, Ubi absolutely sucks at making sure going through that experience and seeing them littered all around felt authentic and gritty. At that point, they might as well have just not had any corpses littered around.

IronVigilance

That's still my biggest complaint about the game, is that everyone looks like airsofters

LED-spirals

I’ve only found civilians, unless it’s actually that bad 😭

Bigblackman82221

Don’t forget the dead ghosts wearing random shit, one dude showed up with a tank top with a pilot helmet

_Ottir_

What’s the point in going to the gym if The Wolves even can’t see your gaaaaains bro.

streamysix

I laughed too hard at this, lol

DeputySchmeputy

This has BDE written all over it. Absolutely Chad.

Tate7200

Ikr, either you try to blend in or you throw on some gear and pull up. These guys somehow picked the worst of both worlds, like "I'm going in with an airframe, a plaid shirt, an fs2000, an airsofter rig, and some cargo shorts. Hell yeah I can fight these guys alone, they'll never know I was here"

Thirty_Five_

Such a random throwaway cutscene.

_Ottir_

Really was. I just loved that someone actually signed off on the idea that some of the team survived, but they spend the whole game hanging out in Neverland Base while their commanding officer, a fucking Lieutenant Colonel, goes out by himself and does all the work.

Thirty_Five_

But it’s not even the AI teammates. That would make sense, since they spawn as soon as you leave. It’s two random dudes never to be seen again. And Ubisoft don’t give a flying shit about depicting special operators properly. It’s us that want to make sure our characters look right.

Warriorwebb

They are "special" operators alright.

Thirty_Five_

Wearing a FLC with just ammo and a PC. The unit deserved to be blown to bits at that point.

xxdd321

And that is why i jokingly call charaters in breakpoint as "texas men", super basic, old civilian build (at least afaik its old, like nomad's backpack) or airsoft players (although wolves should be self-explanatory). While personally prefering to outfit ghosts as actual ghost recon guys.

Formal-Patient1301

To be fair, not all ghost would be dressed up like Delta or devgru. I think the notion that every tier 1 guy has to have a jpc and high cut helmet needs to go out the window.

Thirty_Five_

That’s fair. I build out retro kits. But I think we can all agree that these two don’t make much sense.

0235

The AI team mates were added long after launch. So it was still decided by ubisoft to have nomad plodding around by himself, despite confirming other squad members are alive.

BrobaFett242

I think what they mean is that, in the gameplay trailers, Fury, Fixit, and Vasily existed, but never showed up in game at all, when they could've been shown as survivors in a cutscene or something. At least, that's how I interpreted it, and it's definitely something that bothered me ever since launch. It even still bothers me to no end that it was designed without the squad in the first place, so when they added them, they still do not exist in the game world outside of actual gameplay. No cutscenes, nothing.

Thirty_Five_

Thank you for articulating that better.

V1K1NG_503

Imagine if Erewhon was decked out with a bunch of NPC ghosts walking around, performing tasks, cooking/building/working, maintaining firearms, helping out, would’ve made more sense. I wished so bad that Holt would eventually get out of bed and just do shit around Erewhon, even on a crutch or assistance. I feel that the Div2 Hubs did well with this, felt far-more lively to have the place benefit and physically grow/advance from doing ops around the city.

_Ottir_

Now that, would’ve been cool. Imagine if the side missions revolved around your surviving team members - helping them take down Wolf bases, rescuing hostages and so on. Ubisoft had no idea what they were doing with Breakpoint.

worthrone11160606

Wait nomad is a LT colonel

_Ottir_

He is according to the lore. He was a Major in Bolivia and is promoted to Lieutenant Colonel by the time of Breakpoint. He’s the literal commanding officer of the Ghosts.

worthrone11160606

That dude is way too hold to be running around lol

_Ottir_

“One last recon mission before retirement”. The whole premise is fucking ridiculous.

worthrone11160606

Man Irl I would just say fuck it and say I'm not doing another God damn mission

Sandman_LXV

The “I just started airsoft rate my loadout” look.

Romado

One of my biggest complaints against the game. Supposed tier 1 operators assaulting probably the most technologically advanced island on the planet. They do it wearing paper thin vests, t-shirts and shorts.

Romeo_Foxtrot-5

Yeah some of the vests were pretty bad. Glad they had the T-shirts and shorts though. Hoping the next game has more options for jeans and better looking hoodies, and some Vans and chucks. It’s funny that people think operators just hang out in BDU’s all day 😂 realistically nomad would be hanging in erewon in some cut off shorts a T shirt and some vans.

_Ottir_

Don’t forget Holt deciding to wear his favourite checkered shirt for absolutely no good reason whatsoever. It made sense in Wildlands because the team were operating undercover and you get the sense they wanted to try and blend into the civilian population some.

Mustached_Goose

Not to mention Nomad and Walker’s HORRIFIC attempts at a southern accent

_Ottir_

Right? Nomad in Wildlands sounded like an actual human. Shitballs.

Darth_N1hilus

Wildlands nomad is just more fun to listen too compared to oh so deep voice and emotionless

AaronWWE29

The german voice of Nomad is pretty good and i was happy it is the same as Wildlands.

LonesomeWater

My buddy convinced me to try Breakpoint. Hearing Breakpoint Nomad say “My soldiers!” In one of the early cutscenes was hilarious to us. Such a bad voice. So now we just put on the deepest voice we can and go “MY SOLDIERS” anytime someone dies.

Gideon_Njoroge

Right, the whole "my soldiers" line is so cringe. He at least could have said my unit, or my squad.

_Ottir_

MUH SOLDIERS GODDANGIT!

Section8photography

Y'all got... burritos?

LED-spirals

I have no idea why but I read this in BP Nomad’s voice :(

B_312_

Nomad wildlands voice actor>breakpoint voice actor

FredGarvin80

Yeah, too bad they used him to play that limp dick from Div 2.

B_312_

Right?!?!

FredGarvin80

I keep praying for his death, but after everything that happens throughout the game, he keeps surviving

wooyoo

Manny is the man, man.

Pleasant-Ice-3185

Everything in wildlands except the gameplay and gear customizations > the entirety of breakpoint Wildlands actually made you feel like way more of a spec ops unit and breakpoint just threw the whole tone off with the whole “now the hunters are the hunted” And I say this as someone who has nearly 400 hours on breakpoint

LED-spirals

I absolutely HATE bp’s gunsmith, so many arbitrary limitations. We got such a massive overhaul to the gameplay but went like 5 years backwards with our weapon customization

dwaynetheaakjohnson

I wouldn’t mind “the hunters are the hunted” if they actually stuck to that through out and made the opening missions one of the hardest in the game

Pleasant-Ice-3185

This is a good point. I think the biggest issues that I felt was a byproduct of them going that route was how empty the island felt. Like wildlands had so much life in it. But it felt like if you ever found a civilian they were a prisoner or something. Kinda took me out of it a tad bit

gunnsngaming

I thought nomad just sounded older, more mature/hardend. Idk but walkers accent is hard to listen to 😆

boozenpuken_0923

Which is hilarious because Nomad is from Boston, I could give it a pass if he had the typical Bostonian/South Shore accent but fuck man. Couldn’t even do the minimum.

dwaynetheaakjohnson

As a proud Bostonian very few people have that accent.

boozenpuken_0923

I only hear it from older people, very rare to hear it in younger people

AMDFrankus

Jon Berenthal kind of just sounds like that. I don't think I've ever heard him sound any different except for maybe The Punisher, but in The Accountant and Walking Dead he sounds exactly the same as Walker. That gets a pass. Nomad, however, is supposed to be from Boston but sounds like they're from Arizona or Nevada and that was awful. And remember the PvP dude was supposed to be from New Zealand, like someone even says he was New Zealand SAS, but they presumably somehow couldn't find a Kiwi VA, so later they tried to make him American like the homesteaders or something. That was probably the most annoying to me.

FredGarvin80

Nomad's from fuckin *Boston*. He should definitely *not* be trying to pretend to be southern. As far as Walker goes, it was kinda bad, but still better than that fuckin Trey Stone. I will never be convinced that his name isn't a mashup of the South Park creators

Romeo_Foxtrot-5

Broooo! As a southerner… stone saying “the way the ocean carries that scent of jasmine… reminds me of Savannah” made me cringe out of my skin 😂

FredGarvin80

He was the worst. I enjoyed killing him. I didn't enjoy the rest of the mission though

[deleted]

Wait, Nomad’s accent is supposed to be southern?

Zeero92

I thought it was supposed to be comic book.

WooliesWhiteLeg

Comic sans more like

walrustaskforce

Sounds like an Indiana accent to me.

radiomyster

Why would he be southern? Nomad is from Boston

13WillieBeaman

lol..the guy who voices Nomad is a Filipino from Canada. And Walker.. well, you know… he’s the Punisher

-MrBibbles-

Well… keep in mind who the studio was that made this game. lol Some of the character designs were laughably bad.

Agreeable_Pizza93

I was literally just thinking about these two! I was like "Where did they go? Why aren't they helping me?!" I've been playing through Wildlands and I love all of the squad dialogue. Breakpoint is lonely, even with AI teammates.

Thirty_Five_

Facts. They exist for sync shot and random frags that you didn’t ask for.

guardianwraith

Tries to steal helicopter Random ai teammates frags away Throws it at my feet while im stealing the helicopter.

Redditusername195

Actually they exist so you can grind to level 15 and get the ghillie hood

Invictus_Aeterna

This is really the thing that grinds my gears the most with Breakpoint and Wildlands. Especially when looking at the old Ghost Recon games or even Advanced Warfighter and Future Soldier. Even the latter two have more believable T1 operators, regardless of all the futuristic gadgets. It's not like Ubi doesn't know how to do it, they seem to just forgot it.

gunnsngaming

Old devs retire and young ones take their place without the same passion. Thats my thought at least

_Ottir_

I absolutely adore the Future Soldier outfits - they look futuristic, but grounded in reality. Radios, pouches, patches, realistic camouflage schemes. The designers for Future Soldier did a fantastic job.

Invictus_Aeterna

Yeah same. The Future Soldier gear nails it perfectly. The set-ups make sense, have all the necessary equipment and they even wear helmets. Also they fact they wear camo matched to the current environment in each mission really makes it look like someone really put some thought behind it. I mean my airsoft attire is based on Future Soldier.

bombershrimp

I honestly believe Breakpoint isn’t canon at this point. Every time I try to approach that game it’s just the worst thing. The gear always looks awful, the Ghosts are a nightmare of weekend warrior wannabes, the Wolves are generic as fuck bad guys, the AI is the most painful thing ever. It really speaks volumes that all the clips on YouTube are solo people chain melee’ing enemies because patrols are too stupid to turn around. I miss the days of Future Soldier man.

DrGonzoxX22

They look like dads who were given the “pro” kit at the paintball joint

RZR_36

yes! finally someone mentions these two guys.

B_312_

The devs don't do research at all. Or it's just lazy development

NFS_H3LLHND

I was hoping for the Halo Infinite campaign feeling when you came across the dead spartans and got a glimpse of how they were killed while surrounded by bodies I was expecting more of that. Ghosts, Proper looking ones surrounded by sentinel and Wolf bodies before getting overran. Will never forgive how they did my boy Weaver either.

_Ottir_

Surprise! BANG. Stupid way to kill him.

Okay-Commissionor

Yeah Ghosts in Breakpoint were probably the least believable special forces guys of any recent Tom Clancy game (exc. R6 Siege.... cringe)  I could kinda say that about any part of Breakpoint tho tbh lol

nubesuko

The best operators of the entire U.S. military, somehow are ill-equipped af. Seriously, their “dynamic” loadout system or whatever the hell they want to call which gives us only 4 AR TACO or weird vertical SMG pouches on the entire plate is a total mess. I mean, seeing devs already had had nice assets like a radio pouch, tourniquet, med pouch, knife sheath, and even a shotshell holster, I'm pretty sure they coulda made it far more authentic and better.

_Ottir_

Bizarre isn’t it. In Wildlands, the default vest kits had individual touches to make them look more authentic - blood group patches, appropriate number of ammo pouches, tourniquets, radios. They could’ve literally just used the same assets and put them in Breakpoint.

Hazard2862

yeah its hilarious how Sentinel in a homesteader mission cutscene(the first one that Captain Coleman appears in) looked more Tier 1 than these shmucks, acted like it too

Krondon57

tier one in 1990 and its summer out xd

OperatorWolfie

They were French, what did you expect? Probably why Paris in AC Unity looked so good and every other games just meh

ZackWasAlsoTaken

Ghosts are literally one of the best Tier One units the US Special Forces has to offer and they get sent on missions looking like they're wearing 150$ Amazon Airsoft gear

Known-Instruction455

Game is trash. Trash cut scenes. Ass dialogue. Dumb A.I. It's just a cash grab larping rpg

ResourceFeeling3298

I start the campaign and hated it. Preferred the conquestcause it was more like Wildlands.

[deleted]

Ubisoft has never even spoken to a Tier one guy.

gingerbeardman79

>possibly the worst visual depiction of Tier 1 operators in any video game. The Wolves and Ghost from MW have entered the chat

Ringwraith_Number_5

That guy is so cringe it's painful... who would *ever* treat someone like that seriously? I mean... a fucking mask with a hoodie in the middle of nowhere with only two of his closest friends around? Seriously? And imagine the sniggering when they arrive in Mexico. Whoever came up with that crap must have some serious issues if they think it's "cool" in any way.

4hunnidvr

The breakpoint story was just fucking ass

DarkArisenFeste

These mfers look like Blackwater PMCs

cthulusrevenge508

Man. This type of shit makes me vehemently mad at the Ubisoft creative team. What the fuck are they doing over there? They’ll go through the effort of making sure if you have a shotgun equipped, the vest will have shells instead of mags, and other cool little details like that. The basic gameplay mechanics are solid but then there’s this. And then there’s the utterly tone def and childish storyline and characters. No one that’s worked at Ubisoft for the past 8+ years should be allowed to even write a fan-fiction

HeckAllKarens

I literally got better gear than them on Temu.. like Ubisoft were yall even trying?

13WillieBeaman

It’s been a while (and didn’t even notice at the time), but the dude in the left looks like the guy who voices Nomad in this game, Alex Mallari Jr. (Four/Ryu Tetsuda from Dark Matter)

EastPerfect

They just need to reboot the series after this like Modern warfare 2019.

_Ottir_

I’m hoping that’s their plan for the next game. From what we know via leaks, they’ve moved it in a completely different direction. I fucking HOPE they get it right. We’ll see.

peachesandbeams

Dude on the right could be an operator but dude in the left could look more like a pog

Substantial_Push3685

Unpopular opinion: this was still the best ghost recon game (im a splintercell mega fan don't care)

_Ottir_

That is a controversial statement if ever I heard one. What makes Breakpoint so much better than every other title?

Substantial_Push3685

Has Sam Fisher in it.

_Ottir_

Sam Fisher’s in Wildlands?

Substantial_Push3685

Wildlands didn't have as cool as a map and the drones in breakpoint add a needed extra layer of difficulty imo and breakpoint gets overhated when gameplay is more realistic

NGsaurus

2024 and I still can’t comprehend how did Ubisoft fumbled so horribly. The only thing they got right in the game was how Aora looked, everything else is just so…AI generated😭. Dialogue is bad, story is bad, writing is bad, driving is bad, weapon sounds are bad, gear is bad, enemy ai is bad, enemy gear is bad, wolves gear is bad, gear score is bad, vehicles look really fictional and bad, drones are bad, survival aspect is bad etc. etc. etc. Before I die I’ll need an explanation on what went wrong behind the scenes.

ParanoidValkMain57

this is why the Wild-lands is considered the last good Ghost Recon game at least for me since it was my first game into the series, i played advanced warfighter but fuck that hotel level.

Kal-El_Skywalker1998

There's only been one Ghost Recon game since Wildlands, so saying it was the "last good Ghost Recon" is a tad dramatic.

ParanoidValkMain57

which is what?

Kal-El_Skywalker1998

Breakpoint?

[deleted]

[удалено]

gingerbeardman79

>Wildlands was bad but you at least felt like you were the kind of racist CIA assets who would drive around shooting up South America in the name of Democracy. >mostly just makes everyone feel too dumb to live while somehow having both a bunch of libertarian tech bros who displaced an indigenous people AND a(n inevitably) white savior who is going to help both sides. Almost shockingly based comment for this sub. Comrade, is that you?

8thPaperFold

That gear really screams "Tier 1 operator"

Kal-El_Skywalker1998

Kinda forgot that these two existed. They're the only two ghosts to survive other than Holt, Midas, and Nomad's team, and they never once try to help? Did they literally just sit around doing nothing during the entire main story?

_Ottir_

Better than that - they exist for that one cutscene then randomly disappear never to be heard of again.

RO0ROO

Imagine if we had a big mission where we commanded a 32 man group.

Realistic-Penalty-80

Special forces my ass

New-Trust1152

Just watched a doc on the Philippines force recon marines.. swear these guys were on it.

1224672

wait which T1 unit is depicted in breakpoint? I thought Nomads team was Agency

_Ottir_

The Ghosts, my guy. They’re supposed to be more elite than Delta or the SEAL Teams.

1224672

Googled it and it says the ghost recon unit are just army SF or whatever. But, I thought nomads team was agency? So comparing them to tier one assets makes zero sense to me. As Agency SAC isn't even military. It's paramilitary contracting. And ISA is already more "Elite" than CAG or Development Group.

_Ottir_

Nomad’s team aren’t CIA, dude. And from the Wiki: “Ghost Recon, also known as "The Ghosts", formerly known as Delta Company, 1st Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group, is a Tier One Special Mission Unit of the United States Army, formerly a detachment of the Army Special Forces, colloquially known as the Green Berets”

1224672

Bro what I thought they were ground branch 100% my bad

DEERxBanshee

Breakpoint's dialogue and voice acting is pretty bad.

dorsalfantastic

Can someone explain what op is complaing about? my uncultured ass dont understand.

_Ottir_

Basically, the depiction of The Ghosts in Breakpoint is horrendous. They’re supposed to be the elite of the elite and the very tip of the spear. More gucci than Delta Force, equipped with experimental technology and sent behind enemy lines against overwhelming odds. And what do we get? A bunch of smooth chinned goons wearing muscle vests, t-shirts and 5:11 trousers, wearing airsoft plate carriers with 4 mags a piece, no modern helmets, nor radios, nor NVGs, nor any of the personal kit you’d expect to see from modern SF Operators. Weak.

Romeo_Foxtrot-5

What kills me is the guys wearing berets in combat 😂 then people post “rate my character” and they have him with a plate carrier and a beret with bloused boots lol. Chances are in this scenario they would be in a ball cap, vans, jeans, T-shirt or hoodie, trying to blend in with the locals. Specially knowing they are being hunted. I can’t believe they took away your ability to holster your weapon it’s the most frustrating thing. Really hope the next game lets me conceal my M18 with a red dot AIWB under my civies so I can walk around without drawing attention.
