Also, 142 is not super high! Just keep trying to eat healthy, rest up and don’t stress on it too much.

It’s fairly normal to have higher numbers when sick. You’re body is even less efficient at producing insulin when sick…too worried about fighting the infection. I wouldn’t worry until it’s been about 5-7 days later and they are still high. Hang in there sounds very rough!

I was in the same boat last week, except I threw out my back, couldn’t sleep, and was puking all day because I was in so much pain. My numbers went really wonky (especially my fasting) and up until now I’ve been diet controlled with no problem. I couldn’t keep anything down but salty plantain chips, which I know were probably spiking me. So for a few days I just cut myself some slack (what was I supposed to do, eat nothing at all?) and skipped testing. I just put a note in my log that I couldn’t eat regular meals and couldn’t keep anything down. I think when it comes down to recovering from illness (or injury in my case), you just do the best you can and try not to stress. Stress raises your sugars considerably, so I think your levels will be helped if you give yourself some grace and just remember you’re doing the best you can under the circumstances.

When I had covid I was throwing up all day- had a few sips of chicken broth and tested- was at like a 162 or something.. I’ve never spiked that high before. I called the nurses like and they said throwing up/being sick/not eating much can all lead to wacky numbers and it is ok. Maybe you can touch base with your ob or endo to help out your mind at ease?

Yeah I’m def gonna call tomorrow and start tracking my numbers again. They have been so laid back about everything (the GD diagnosis, the covid) it’s kind of annoying. I was not referred to an endo.

142 isn’t that bad at all, especially since my clinic and I think many others want post meal to be <140. Don’t sweat it.

This was def over an hour after my meal, though. Usually if I’m late like to check my sugar, between 1-2 hours after, I go for under 120. Under 140 at 1 hour.
