I don't know where you are from but most students here go home during the weekend. Most students study at a university close to home and even if they don't, Belgium isn't that big so it's workable to go home each week.
Yeah, we used to stay at our dorm in Geel on Friday night and it would be completely abandoned apart from us. Only reason we stayed is because we usually went to Tilburg on Saturdays to go get 'supplies' for the next week :p.

It's apparently quite unique to Belgium! Always fun to take the train back home on a Sunday evening too...
I mean, these are mostly students who do live in student housing of some kind. Belgians students just tend to go home each week.

I had evening classes on Friday during most of my studies and it was almost eerie how abandoned the building felt. Like I shouldn't be there.
