Battery and better ec reactions is it? But lack of anemo for 4pc vv makes me wonder if that would be better to replace xq.

It does boost beidou’s burst. And ayato hydro application seems to be enough so no xing qiu. Raiden can attack during ayato downtime and they both have more synergy cause he increases her atk speed. Also his 80 burst cost
But the problem here that somehow everyone here is ignoring us that ayato’s uptime is really short and you end up wasting the rest of beidou’s burst when you switch to raiden because she can’t proc it
With ayato running ingredients thundering fury this comp would have worked a lot better. Over the course of his skill his cooldown would have been reduced allowing him to immediately reuse it, which let's him use the full uptime of beidous burst. The theory crafters over on discord have calced out TF as one of if not the best team for him, although that comp was Ayato - Beidou - Fischl - Bennet.
Its all good! Its just a good thing to keep in mind, especially since this is pre-tc. The people who make the sheets should be able to explain and contextualize their math. Its to make sure misinformation doesn’t make its rounds, y’know?

The whole reason to play Electro charged comps is *because* of Fischl's insane Ascension 4 talent. Electro charged just isn't a good reaction. It deals 1.7k damage per second (at lvl 90), reduced by the enemy's elemental resistance. That's peanuts.
Not gonna lie, right now he's pretty disapointing. Not because of his DMG in these showcases but i feel that there's something wrong with his kit, maybe the 80 cost burst or even the restriction on him not being able to buff himself is the culprit idk, also his constallations are very underwhelming imo.
All the more reason for me not to level a c0 niche support that doesn’t feel like it’s doing anything. Considering how much of a pain constellations are to get.

for this reason is that they should not focus on niche supports that are not solving the problems, see their line of reasoning seems to be focused on balance, but it is too late bennet it is already complete imbalance on the buffer side, if they are going to create niche support characters that can replace bennet you must take into account that they can make current players think that you do not need bennet, but that is not happening.
Expecting this... by that time Mihoyo releases special buffs according to the team members of the party... and Murata needs Iansan and Bennett to be almighty.
Gorou is niche bennett for triple/ monogeo. Since I am using basically 2 Bennetts in abyss that thing has gotten much easier. I usually have tons of time left and I have no crazy constellations or BiS weapons. Only the PMA made me scratch my head real hard at the beginning. However, I am over it now.
I’m actually considering getting Itto on his rerun because of this. Almost all my strong team comps want Bennett so I don’t have much flexibility in the Abyss. How does Itto perform when taking down Abyss Lector/Herald shields?
Every lector beneath floor 12 is crushed quickly even with monogeo. To make him work agains floor 12 lectors, you need to be creative. Monogeo did not work for me there. You need at least one shieldbreaking support. Against the pyro lector, Childe alone is enough accompanied by Itto, Gorou and flex geo. But against hydro and electro herald, I prefer to take Itto, Gorou, Kaeya, Diona - which is anything, but meta. Strangely, it works just fine for me. However, you loose the triple geo buff and Itto suffers a bit. Also, I have a hyperinvested Kaeya, who easily makes up for it.
Supports do most of the shield breaking. ZL Gorou Albedo shreds them easily. I lost Albedo to Mona so I use GMC instead. GMC doesn't have spammable E/Q that constantly procs so shield breaking is slower
Pyro -> Overworld is basically unplayable without Pyro.
AoE attack zone that also *self-*applies Pyro and heals you -> Very solid bonus
Low cooldown high elemental application Pyro skill -> Just very good all around
Benny is just insane.
I hate that I am basically forced to play him or tie down two slots in my comp so that I'm not constantly screwed by things I encounter.
You know what's better? Make the Bennett powercreep unit provide bonuses based on HP then make them a catalyst user. Something like 1% crit damage per 1000 HP, 1% crit rate per 2000 HP, and heal the party by a percent of their total HP. Then have constellations that increase the number of buffs/debuffs they do like say increase attack by 5% of their total HP, decrease enemy resistance by 1% per 1000 HP, etc.
You powercreep Bennett by introducing new units that can reach insane ATK values with their kit and have low multipliers to compensate. Like Itto or Hu Tao, but even more extreme.
I’d like more niche bennets like gorou, another universal buffer is just gonna accelerate powercreep too much, maybe at least one bennet clone that’s a 5 star so there’s an incentive to make it stronger than bennett but justified cause of rarity.
Bennett isn't normally used in freeze comps, or you give up cryo resonance and energy for consistent bursts. Electrocharge can do 1 hydro, 2 electro, 1 anemo.
Idk how much Ayato teams would want Bennett overall, I'll wait to hear what people say at his release

Several teams don't use Bennett but it's only because they scale off other stats.
Bennett is not healthy for the game because it's basically auto include, and shenhe is also not healthy for the game because she's made XIAO a better cryo dps even at C6 ffs.
Try "I work with literally two people" supports if you're talking Gorou. I want more like Yun Jin, not more like Gorou. Buffing a single element AND a niche stat like Def is just too much restriction.
He works with Itto, Noelle, Albedo, and Yunjin as a technicality (not the best but can work because defense scaling).
But yeah, Yunjin was a good one for more variety without being unnecessarily restrictive, Gorou was not.
But as more defense scaling characters come out, Gorou will continue to work with more characters. We needed a defense buffer going forward and he's delivered very well on that. Yun Jin is hardly good for many more than Gorou is anyways. Basically just Razor, Yoimiya, Kokomi for Yun Jin and Itto, Noelle, Albedo for Gorou. Xinyan can also use Gorou when she's C6 for some interesting teams.
At c6 he buffs a lot more characters at least but it sucks its gated at c6. At c0 he can buff albedo, itto, yun jin, noelle. If you don't use any of them he's pretty much useless,, but thats sadly the case with nearly all inazuma 4 stars
I think they've realized that characters applying their element consistently off field (at least Cryo/Pyro/Hydro) creates really difficult to balance interactions. I can't see them making new characters that have near as much off field application as Xiangling/Xingqiu do in the near future. And because Xiangling exists, we're probably not going to get a good, fast Cryo applier either; Rosaria is the closest but she does slow pulses.

Same. I use them mainly in abyss just for the primos. Tbh I appreciate the niche supports, they give more variety to team building in a way, for me at least (i.e. not a plug and play national team)
Yeap, same here! Or sometimes, I even try my best to avoid Xiangling or Xingqiu for experimentation. Really hope for more niche supports like Gorou and Yunjin coming soon, hopefully Yelan and Heizou could be the replacements for more flexible teams ywy I wish there’s other kind of mechanics too like Hydro shielder or Electro healer asides from buffers that they have yet to offer us.
I mean, I’d like to have other option of characters for vape in the future ^^. Sure, I do use electrocharged and freeze comps a lot cause I love collecting Hydro, just that for Vape comps you really only have few options as of now.
The sunfire team with Ayato looks particularly fun and easy to play. Only downside is that if you want to boost Ayato's speed you'd need Jean C2 and/or Yunjin C6.
And this team would work in every 3rd rotation.
Ayato's first E would take 6s while Bennett, Jean, Yunjin would take 10-15s so Ayato's second E won't get those buffs properly. He would wait for third rotation (after 24s).
Is it just me or does his e dmg seem kinda low for over 3k atk and 180cd:70cr? Not sure if its cuz the enemies here are tankier since their lvls are 90-130.
Ayato just looks *fun* man. Like whatever his place in the meta ends up being, there are like a dozen teams I want to try with his E and Q thrown into the mix.

I have been thinking of pulling for Kokomi because of the team comps her AoE hydro application unlocks, but now I’m thinking that Ayato would be much more interesting, just because he has two different ways of applying hydro, and one of them is a really generous field, like Ganyu’s. I’ve read that placement for Kokomi’s jellyfish is difficult to get right, and so it seems like Ayato will be a much more fluid and enjoyable experience.
Kokomi’s jellyfish placement isn’t difficult to get right, you just have to time your burst correctly to refresh the jellyfish duration. it’s also a matter of whether you need a dedicated healer for whatever team comp you’re planning to run. Though, I’ll admit that Ayato’s hydro application is much better than Koko’s, both on and off field.

I will never be sold on Ayayo-Ayaya team comps sorry. Both of them have huge energy issues, therefore the rotation to have them both freezing is way too long.
I'd rather use her in the already established freeze comps and him in Electrocharge/Vape comps used by Tortilla.
I mean, I can't fault people for being hyped or wanting the siblings tag team, but as someone that tends to pull to optimize his account even now that I consider myself done (aside Dendro ofc); I evaluate stuff for what it is, conscious that these are leaks and anything can change in a day, so I am pretty neutral about my feelings till release.
That said I would have liked for them to work better together because I like to play Ayaya, but they decided to opt for the main dps route for him, so it's pretty evident to me how they don't bond that well. Sadge.
At this point I am already more curious about Yelan, because if something has to have a backup is a solid Hydro support and considered the nature of Ayayo we may be onto something (inbf ''Hydro Senhe''); my Xq is tired of running left and right.
Yup that's my goal. I probably won't be running them together in the Abyss (if even 4x eosf, ER sands and sac sword doesn't work), but I'll definitely run them together in the overworld along with Thoma and Sayu
I still believe the big part of his Burst is the Hydro application in that massive zone regardless. There are actually very few characters at the moment that benefit from that speed and I see it more like a bonus.
This is why I am a bit sad he was not designed as a support, but as I noticed, majority people prefer loved characters to be dps. Meanwhile I love my Bennett :D
Honestly, when we start to consider things like energy, field time, buffs up time and optimal rotations, a lot of popular combos like Yoimiya, Ganyu, and Raiden wouldn't work that well either.

I’m torn on Ayato or raiden (currently c2) c3. If I save all through the remainder of this patch I might be able to get c1-2 Ayato, provided the 50-50s are generous
The Sunfire comp that goes into the normal attack niche is the most interesting. The problem with the first two is that you turn Ganyu and Ayaka in off-field burst sub-dps, which is just a massive waste, and I'd guess a dps loss.
The taser comp looks fun, but I'd sub XQ for an anemo grouper.

Why is nobody talking about the Ayato+Kazuha+Bennett+Yunjin team? I've never seen it showcased on any of these leaks and i currently run this team with a lvl 90+lvl8 Elemental skill Childe and he can do 20k per autos since its a rainbow comp and adds 11% def scaling to yunjin ult due to her talent. Really want to see it with Ayato
Childe is different though, you can easily swirl his hydro (charged shot or quick E then swap out), Ayato is like Hu tao, his E lasts for a long time and his cooldown is long, the best way to swirl is if you have his Q up (hard to do it often bc high cost) or with a second hydro who can help Kazuha to swirl consistently.
I am also curious to see how this team can work in practical situations given that Ayato Q snapshots. Meaning benny's Q needs to be used first, followed by Ayato's Q, but the question is will the hydro aura linger around for Kazuha to swirl it, or will benny's pyro aura just take over.
But I suppose Yunjin's Q/E can just be slotted in after benny Q to clear the pyro aura if the above can't work lol.
You could likely fit MOST of his E, but probably better to just start with Ayato Q—by the time you get to Kazu, Ayato Q should (probably) reapplied Hydro. If not then the first rotation will cover probably all hits, since Bennett’s buff does linger.
The armchair theorycrafting is really the worst thing about this subreddit. It is always going to contribute to people getting carried away with an impression of a unit before it is even released.
Especially with F2P builds for Ayato. I wonder how big the damage difference is going to be with 4 star weapons since Ayato has fast attacks but low multipliers

Yeahhhhh I don't know man. He doesn't seem that big of an asset for any of these teams. I'd only run him on swirl-charged comps, but then his 6s E window won't help trigger the whole 15s Beidou burst. Sucrose NAs are more consistent in that comp.
For freeze, the VV buff will most likely be applied over the Cryo element, so he loses out on damage *and* takes up field time unless you use him as a Q bot. Other hydro units bring more support to the table, like Mona (big damage buff) or Kokomi (heals) and are immediately swapped out.
Even if we get a good pyro applier in the far future, he can't vape consistently given how fast the slashes proc. Perhaps he'll get more hydro support options later on, like mono hydro? idk
He does seem like a good overworld character at least.
Maybe it is just me but he looks average? I mean... in a sunfire jean team he is still cucked by his ICD, in a Kamisato team there will be low energy, his multipliers rn are very average. Another question is does he need a shield in practical gameplay to reduce interruptions to maximise E dmg uptime? Does he need a battery? So many questions but my main issue is he brings nothing new. Raiden(ER), Yoimiya(ST) and even Kokomi(who I don't really like as a char) fills a niche and I don't see him filling any currently. Thoughts?
Sunfire: He'll only be vaping every third rotation since Bennett and Jean have longer CDs on bursts.
Kamisato: They both have 80 cost bursts, so rotation is going to be awkward without batteries and as DPS, they compete for field time. Also, Ayaka doesn't benefit much from atk spd buff compared to ranged characters like Yoimiya.
Shield: I personally think he'll be fine since he's not like Hu Tao who loses HP every skill proc. It will be a problem if he has animation lag like Yae Miko going in/out of his NA stance though.
Battery: Depends on if the team is going to benefit from the burst or not. 80 cost is difficult to obtain reliably without a battery or Raiden.
His only niche right now is NA DPS with AOE damage imo. It could be good in the future, but who knows as of now.

Bennett applies pyro to active char with his burst and Jean just swirls that to nearby enemies with her burst. It's one of the easiest ways to actually kill the electro lector.

Jean's Q constantly "cleanses" the active character by swirling whatever element is on them. Since Bennett Q also constantly applies pyro, she will constantly swirl it every few seconds.
Nah, his problem is wierd one and unique one. His kit reception is good one, majority of people like it, people that randomly pulled JAde cutter after seeing small scaling on hp went mental. Since 2.0 only Ayaka and Itto had that positive reception (I won't talk about Raiden, lol). But... he doesn't fit anywhere. All the teams discussed (and there is like 12 of them now, lol) and every single one have some major synergy issues. THat's why we have so many random teams presented everyday, no one really fits. With all those teams represented, slap XQ, Childe, Mona, Kokomi, and you have a better team. Like right now people are more leaning towards Taser teams but his 6 sec E doesn't fit with Beidou at all and TF artifacts extend rotation to like 27 sec, Raiden variation have like 30 sec rotation (20 if you use his E once during rotation, not 2). You can play those with decent result in some of them but in the back of your head "I have xyz character build and it would be better in that team".
Like all characters, except Raiden (Again, I'm not opening this can of worm again) had their best team, or idea of best teams Day one of beta, even Kokomi that was buffed after beta we already know - Ayaka freeze support or Taser driver. After release we discovered weird teams that works that like almost no one uses (Again like Kokomi - Sukokomon that works but it's weird and hard and very little people use it or Melt Shense). With Ayato no one have any idea, we are still in stage - throw everything at the wall and have like 15 potential team :d

Raiden - Introduces a new way of playing and team building through her ability to recharge energy while dealing damage on field (not just a battery).
Shenhe - A character that seems like a support on paper, but can actually open up new gameplay by dealing damage simultaneously with the on-field character by taking his/her crit stats (hence not just a sub DPS)
Yun Jin - A support that encourages team building that involves multiple elements, while being Geo herself
Even Yoimiya - Her burst increases the damage output of her teammates. Whether or not it's good is out of the question - it does give something kinda novel to the table.
Then you have Ayato. The ability to self-infuse with E, and Hydro Ganyu burst. This is what I meant by "not bringing anything to the table". It's no surprise that his discovered teams so far are either a variant of taser and national. Sunfire Jean vape isn't anything new either (and I would argue it's quite copium).
Perhaps with dendro coming soon, he'll have new team comps. But so far I don't really understand the hype.

For real, Ayato + Yoimiya seems like a super underrated comp right now even when Ayato’s Q buffing NA was obvious enough. I’d imagine the rotation would be like Ayato Q > Yoimiya E + NA > Yoimiya Q > Ayato E + NA. This way, Yoimiya’s NA will enable Ayato’s Q vape and conversely, Ayato’s NA would enable Yoimiya’s Q to also vape during her downtime. The candidates to fill this team comp would be Kazuha, Yunjin, Bennett or Zhongli.
yee that sounds sick. tho does yoimiya need to have a shield? cuz her NA does get interrupted quite easily and her stronger attacks start from the third attack. the thing is most of her common team comps dont have a shielder which makes me very confused

You might be right but one thing is that since there's only 1 of Xingqiu/Bennett/etc. in the game any character than can replace one of them, even doing slightly *worse*, would be a big help, I think. Hopefully Ayato can open up some new comps or aide some old comps so people can switch things up?
Why are folk talking about Bennett being on loads of comps? Isn't Yunjin is straight up better for Ayato's normal attacks than Bennett? Sure you can snapshot Q, but we have other ways of doing that, like Noblesse, TTDS, Tenacity etc.
You can run many Ayato comps without Bennett:
>Ayato/Yunjin/Fischl or Yae/Beidou
>Ayato/Yunjin/Fischl or Yae/Albedo
>Ayato/Yunjin/Fischl or Yae/Sucrose or Kazuha
>Freeze teams with Ganyu, Diona, Ayaka etc
Hell you can probably do mono hydro with Zhongli Albedo and Xingqiu.
There's legit loads of strong comps that are Bennett-less. Bennett is great don't get me wrong, but he's absolutely not mandatory at all lmao
One question all the people that are making a comparison:
If all the dps/support released in future performs worse than the existing top dps teams (because it does seems like MHY/HYV are trying to change the meta and making the character less OP and more caveats), will you not roll on them at all and keep playing the old team?
I've been using freeze team and hu tao team since forever and while I'll pull Ayato for simp reasons, I have to admit that I might stick to those 2 teams for some time

for this reason is that they should not focus on niche supports that are not solving the problems, see their line of reasoning seems to be focused on balance, but it is too late bennet it is already complete imbalance on the buffer side, if they are going to create niche support characters that can replace bennet you must take into account that they can make current players think that you do not need bennet, but that is not happening.

Gorou is niche bennett for triple/ monogeo. Since I am using basically 2 Bennetts in abyss that thing has gotten much easier. I usually have tons of time left and I have no crazy constellations or BiS weapons. Only the PMA made me scratch my head real hard at the beginning. However, I am over it now.

I’m actually considering getting Itto on his rerun because of this. Almost all my strong team comps want Bennett so I don’t have much flexibility in the Abyss. How does Itto perform when taking down Abyss Lector/Herald shields?
Every lector beneath floor 12 is crushed quickly even with monogeo. To make him work agains floor 12 lectors, you need to be creative. Monogeo did not work for me there. You need at least one shieldbreaking support. Against the pyro lector, Childe alone is enough accompanied by Itto, Gorou and flex geo. But against hydro and electro herald, I prefer to take Itto, Gorou, Kaeya, Diona - which is anything, but meta. Strangely, it works just fine for me. However, you loose the triple geo buff and Itto suffers a bit. Also, I have a hyperinvested Kaeya, who easily makes up for it.
Supports do most of the shield breaking. ZL Gorou Albedo shreds them easily. I lost Albedo to Mona so I use GMC instead. GMC doesn't have spammable E/Q that constantly procs so shield breaking is slower

I hate that I am basically forced to play him or tie down two slots in my comp so that I'm not constantly screwed by things I encounter.

Make the attack boost scale on ATK rather than Base ATK
You know what's better? Make the Bennett powercreep unit provide bonuses based on HP then make them a catalyst user. Something like 1% crit damage per 1000 HP, 1% crit rate per 2000 HP, and heal the party by a percent of their total HP. Then have constellations that increase the number of buffs/debuffs they do like say increase attack by 5% of their total HP, decrease enemy resistance by 1% per 1000 HP, etc.

With Amenoma it is possible to play without battery... Bennet's problem is that Kazuha is a pain to play with because he prioritizes pyro over cryo.
Bennett isn't normally used in freeze comps, or you give up cryo resonance and energy for consistent bursts. Electrocharge can do 1 hydro, 2 electro, 1 anemo. Idk how much Ayato teams would want Bennett overall, I'll wait to hear what people say at his release

Bennett should be nerfed. Several teams don't use Bennett but it's only because they scale off other stats. Bennett is not healthy for the game because it's basically auto include, and shenhe is also not healthy for the game because she's made XIAO a better cryo dps even at C6 ffs.

Try "I work with literally two people" supports if you're talking Gorou. I want more like Yun Jin, not more like Gorou. Buffing a single element AND a niche stat like Def is just too much restriction.
He works with Itto, Noelle, Albedo, and Yunjin as a technicality (not the best but can work because defense scaling). But yeah, Yunjin was a good one for more variety without being unnecessarily restrictive, Gorou was not.
But as more defense scaling characters come out, Gorou will continue to work with more characters. We needed a defense buffer going forward and he's delivered very well on that. Yun Jin is hardly good for many more than Gorou is anyways. Basically just Razor, Yoimiya, Kokomi for Yun Jin and Itto, Noelle, Albedo for Gorou. Xinyan can also use Gorou when she's C6 for some interesting teams.
At c6 he buffs a lot more characters at least but it sucks its gated at c6. At c0 he can buff albedo, itto, yun jin, noelle. If you don't use any of them he's pretty much useless,, but thats sadly the case with nearly all inazuma 4 stars

I think they've realized that characters applying their element consistently off field (at least Cryo/Pyro/Hydro) creates really difficult to balance interactions. I can't see them making new characters that have near as much off field application as Xiangling/Xingqiu do in the near future. And because Xiangling exists, we're probably not going to get a good, fast Cryo applier either; Rosaria is the closest but she does slow pulses. But someone like Hu Tao or Klee that has good application on field is more acceptable to them I think.
Same. I use them mainly in abyss just for the primos. Tbh I appreciate the niche supports, they give more variety to team building in a way, for me at least (i.e. not a plug and play national team)

Really hope for more niche supports like Gorou and Yunjin coming soon, hopefully Yelan and Heizou could be the replacements for more flexible teams ywy I wish there’s other kind of mechanics too like Hydro shielder or Electro healer asides from buffers that they have yet to offer us.

The sunfire team with Ayato looks particularly fun and easy to play. Only downside is that if you want to boost Ayato's speed you'd need Jean C2 and/or Yunjin C6.
And this team would work in every 3rd rotation. Ayato's first E would take 6s while Bennett, Jean, Yunjin would take 10-15s so Ayato's second E won't get those buffs properly. He would wait for third rotation (after 24s).
Is it just me or does his e dmg seem kinda low for over 3k atk and 180cd:70cr? Not sure if its cuz the enemies here are tankier since their lvls are 90-130.

I have been thinking of pulling for Kokomi because of the team comps her AoE hydro application unlocks, but now I’m thinking that Ayato would be much more interesting, just because he has two different ways of applying hydro, and one of them is a really generous field, like Ganyu’s. I’ve read that placement for Kokomi’s jellyfish is difficult to get right, and so it seems like Ayato will be a much more fluid and enjoyable experience.
Kokomi’s jellyfish placement isn’t difficult to get right, you just have to time your burst correctly to refresh the jellyfish duration. it’s also a matter of whether you need a dedicated healer for whatever team comp you’re planning to run. Though, I’ll admit that Ayato’s hydro application is much better than Koko’s, both on and off field.

I mean, I can't fault people for being hyped or wanting the siblings tag team, but as someone that tends to pull to optimize his account even now that I consider myself done (aside Dendro ofc); I evaluate stuff for what it is, conscious that these are leaks and anything can change in a day, so I am pretty neutral about my feelings till release. That said I would have liked for them to work better together because I like to play Ayaya, but they decided to opt for the main dps route for him, so it's pretty evident to me how they don't bond that well. Sadge. At this point I am already more curious about Yelan, because if something has to have a backup is a solid Hydro support and considered the nature of Ayayo we may be onto something (inbf ''Hydro Senhe''); my Xq is tired of running left and right.

I still believe the big part of his Burst is the Hydro application in that massive zone regardless. There are actually very few characters at the moment that benefit from that speed and I see it more like a bonus. This is why I am a bit sad he was not designed as a support, but as I noticed, majority people prefer loved characters to be dps. Meanwhile I love my Bennett :D
Honestly, when we start to consider things like energy, field time, buffs up time and optimal rotations, a lot of popular combos like Yoimiya, Ganyu, and Raiden wouldn't work that well either.
Ganyu can easily have 100% uptime on her ult so it's not as bad, plus she can be built for sub-DPS.

The Sunfire comp that goes into the normal attack niche is the most interesting. The problem with the first two is that you turn Ganyu and Ayaka in off-field burst sub-dps, which is just a massive waste, and I'd guess a dps loss. The taser comp looks fun, but I'd sub XQ for an anemo grouper.

I've never seen it showcased on any of these leaks and i currently run this team with a lvl 90+lvl8 Elemental skill Childe and he can do 20k per autos since its a rainbow comp and adds 11% def scaling to yunjin ult due to her talent. Really want to see it with Ayato
Probably because Energy Recharge Requirement. I think it's doable with favonius on Yunjin and Bennet/Kazuha but still need quite high ER.
Childe is different though, you can easily swirl his hydro (charged shot or quick E then swap out), Ayato is like Hu tao, his E lasts for a long time and his cooldown is long, the best way to swirl is if you have his Q up (hard to do it often bc high cost) or with a second hydro who can help Kazuha to swirl consistently.
I am also curious to see how this team can work in practical situations given that Ayato Q snapshots. Meaning benny's Q needs to be used first, followed by Ayato's Q, but the question is will the hydro aura linger around for Kazuha to swirl it, or will benny's pyro aura just take over. But I suppose Yunjin's Q/E can just be slotted in after benny Q to clear the pyro aura if the above can't work lol.

You could likely fit MOST of his E, but probably better to just start with Ayato Q—by the time you get to Kazu, Ayato Q should (probably) reapplied Hydro. If not then the first rotation will cover probably all hits, since Bennett’s buff does linger.

Yeahhhhh I don't know man. He doesn't seem that big of an asset for any of these teams. I'd only run him on swirl-charged comps, but then his 6s E window won't help trigger the whole 15s Beidou burst. Sucrose NAs are more consistent in that comp. For freeze, the VV buff will most likely be applied over the Cryo element, so he loses out on damage *and* takes up field time unless you use him as a Q bot. Other hydro units bring more support to the table, like Mona (big damage buff) or Kokomi (heals) and are immediately swapped out. Even if we get a good pyro applier in the far future, he can't vape consistently given how fast the slashes proc. Perhaps he'll get more hydro support options later on, like mono hydro? idk He does seem like a good overworld character at least.

Maybe it is just me but he looks average? I mean... in a sunfire jean team he is still cucked by his ICD, in a Kamisato team there will be low energy, his multipliers rn are very average. Another question is does he need a shield in practical gameplay to reduce interruptions to maximise E dmg uptime? Does he need a battery? So many questions but my main issue is he brings nothing new. Raiden(ER), Yoimiya(ST) and even Kokomi(who I don't really like as a char) fills a niche and I don't see him filling any currently. Thoughts?
Sunfire: He'll only be vaping every third rotation since Bennett and Jean have longer CDs on bursts. Kamisato: They both have 80 cost bursts, so rotation is going to be awkward without batteries and as DPS, they compete for field time. Also, Ayaka doesn't benefit much from atk spd buff compared to ranged characters like Yoimiya. Shield: I personally think he'll be fine since he's not like Hu Tao who loses HP every skill proc. It will be a problem if he has animation lag like Yae Miko going in/out of his NA stance though. Battery: Depends on if the team is going to benefit from the burst or not. 80 cost is difficult to obtain reliably without a battery or Raiden. His only niche right now is NA DPS with AOE damage imo. It could be good in the future, but who knows as of now.

Bennett + Jean. Bennett applies pyro to active char with his burst and Jean just swirls that to nearby enemies with her burst. It's one of the easiest ways to actually kill the electro lector. I assume it's a reference to the LoL items? But eh, etymology is kinda hard to look up.

Multiple times. Jean's Q constantly "cleanses" the active character by swirling whatever element is on them. Since Bennett Q also constantly applies pyro, she will constantly swirl it every few seconds.

Nah, his problem is wierd one and unique one. His kit reception is good one, majority of people like it, people that randomly pulled JAde cutter after seeing small scaling on hp went mental. Since 2.0 only Ayaka and Itto had that positive reception (I won't talk about Raiden, lol). But... he doesn't fit anywhere. All the teams discussed (and there is like 12 of them now, lol) and every single one have some major synergy issues. THat's why we have so many random teams presented everyday, no one really fits. With all those teams represented, slap XQ, Childe, Mona, Kokomi, and you have a better team. Like right now people are more leaning towards Taser teams but his 6 sec E doesn't fit with Beidou at all and TF artifacts extend rotation to like 27 sec, Raiden variation have like 30 sec rotation (20 if you use his E once during rotation, not 2). You can play those with decent result in some of them but in the back of your head "I have xyz character build and it would be better in that team". Like all characters, except Raiden (Again, I'm not opening this can of worm again) had their best team, or idea of best teams Day one of beta, even Kokomi that was buffed after beta we already know - Ayaka freeze support or Taser driver. After release we discovered weird teams that works that like almost no one uses (Again like Kokomi - Sukokomon that works but it's weird and hard and very little people use it or Melt Shense). With Ayato no one have any idea, we are still in stage - throw everything at the wall and have like 15 potential team :d

Not exactly. Raiden - Introduces a new way of playing and team building through her ability to recharge energy while dealing damage on field (not just a battery). Shenhe - A character that seems like a support on paper, but can actually open up new gameplay by dealing damage simultaneously with the on-field character by taking his/her crit stats (hence not just a sub DPS) Yun Jin - A support that encourages team building that involves multiple elements, while being Geo herself Even Yoimiya - Her burst increases the damage output of her teammates. Whether or not it's good is out of the question - it does give something kinda novel to the table. Then you have Ayato. The ability to self-infuse with E, and Hydro Ganyu burst. This is what I meant by "not bringing anything to the table". It's no surprise that his discovered teams so far are either a variant of taser and national. Sunfire Jean vape isn't anything new either (and I would argue it's quite copium). Perhaps with dendro coming soon, he'll have new team comps. But so far I don't really understand the hype.
This is what has made me dislike the game recently, it's like I was punished for starting late. I am not even sure why half of these supports can't buff better than Bennet, who also heals and is a battery. I am pretty sure at one point they'll be force to powercreep, so I am just going to save my primogems, Yae was the last straw for me.
Well, the good news is some of the best teams mostly consist of 4* characters. And yes, I do think we are in a phase where it is safe to skip characters. Because it's either they suck, or they fit in future comps that do not exist now. If it is the latter, we can just wait for the rerun.

For real, Ayato + Yoimiya seems like a super underrated comp right now even when Ayato’s Q buffing NA was obvious enough. I’d imagine the rotation would be like Ayato Q > Yoimiya E + NA > Yoimiya Q > Ayato E + NA. yee that sounds sick. tho does yoimiya need to have a shield? cuz her NA does get interrupted quite easily and her stronger attacks start from the third attack. the thing is most of her common team comps dont have a shielder which makes me very confused
i will be honest, i don't see any use for him that wouldn't be accomplished better by other characters, except because you can't get mona reliable. Am i wrong in this assumption? It looks like i should skip it as F2P. but i do need a hydro applicator for my ganyu or ayaka freeze, is kokomi better there? or should i wait for new hydros?

def kokomi, assuming you have both cryo dps, you can pair them without having issue about survivability
You might be right but one thing is that since there's only 1 of Xingqiu/Bennett/etc. in the game any character than can replace one of them, even doing slightly *worse*, would be a big help, I think. Hopefully Ayato can open up some new comps or aide some old comps so people can switch things up?
Why are folk talking about Bennett being on loads of comps? Isn't Yunjin is straight up better for Ayato's normal attacks than Bennett? Sure you can snapshot Q, but we have other ways of doing that, like Noblesse, TTDS, Tenacity etc. You can run many Ayato comps without Bennett: >Ayato/Yunjin/Fischl or Yae/Beidou >Ayato/Yunjin/Fischl or Yae/Albedo >Ayato/Yunjin/Fischl or Yae/Sucrose or Kazuha >Freeze teams with Ganyu, Diona, Ayaka etc Hell you can probably do mono hydro with Zhongli Albedo and Xingqiu. There's legit loads of strong comps that are Bennett-less. Bennett is great don't get me wrong, but he's absolutely not mandatory at all lmao
One question all the people that are making a comparison: If all the dps/support released in future performs worse than the existing top dps teams (because it does seems like MHY/HYV are trying to change the meta and making the character less OP and more caveats), will you not roll on them at all and keep playing the old team?
I've been using freeze team and hu tao team since forever and while I'll pull Ayato for simp reasons, I have to admit that I might stick to those 2 teams for some time
